This is great !! Keep up the good work. I hope we can all figure this battery situation out so we can keep flying the solos.

Hey RCTech, I know this video is older and you may not rememeber but, I was curious how the batt replacement went and how long of fly time you got with the rig? I have 2 bad batteries that I was thinking about doing a 10440 mod to. Was curious seeing as though that 4k mAh batt you had was most likely lighter thus equaling better/worse flight characteristics or longer flight time. :) Thanks in advance!!

Can the mainboard (just the mainboard of Solo not the motors) work with a 6s battery?

can you give me pointers on how to make my own battery for my 3DR SOLO drone please?

I have only used one of my 3dr solo batteries for about 10 months of very low use and suddenly it only gets about 2.5 minutes of flight time versus the original 10-15. Could you help me in any possible way? Is it easy to design an alternate better battery?

3DR Solo - Smart Battery Calibration
The Solo Smart Battery may need recalibration from time to time. The following write up details how execute a recalibration of the BMS.
Gently discharge the battery pack until it cuts off the first time (this is around 12V).
Allow the pack the relax for at least 5 hours. The pack’s voltage will climb above 12V during this process. DO NOT TRY TO DISCHARGE THE PACK AGAIN. Damage to the battery may result.
Charge the pack completely and leave it on the charger for 48 hours. The pack will relax, then do a balance cycle, then top off.
Let the pack sit for at least 2 hours off the charger before using the pack.
This tutorial was written by the Solo EE team (Jeff Wurzbach and Philip Rowse).
Try this to recalibrate your battery.

Hi Jasson, on the bottom of this video I have provided links to places I have purchased the connectors. Some of the stores may not show the parts available in there store on Ebay. copy the description and find ours that sell them shouldn't have any problem finding them. God Bless,

TATTU 5200MAH 4S 14.8V 15C LIPO BATTERY GENS ACE. IF YOU GET THE 35C YOU WILL LESS FLIGHT TIME. AVERAGE FLIGHT TIME ON THE 15C 12 - 15 MINS ON THE 35C MAYBE 10 MINS

@@WmrLicona Correct, make sure that you pay attention to the notches on the JST plug when you connect them together that the wires are in the same sequence. Don't always think that the colors are matched to the same colors wire for wire.

What about using a LIHV 4S battery pack istead of Lipo ? LIHV has 15,2V and LiPO has 14,8v. What do yiu think?

    • @rctechproflying1903

Alex Alex yes, sound like a great idea like it. I will look into that thanks for the information. I was thinking of a home made hydrogen battery. But maybe do dangerous.

I tested a LIHV 4S on my Solo and has start up very well no problem. I connect the LIHV directly on Solo without electronics.

5200mA with 10C, around 425gr, It is possible to fly with this battery in wekkend if weather allow me.

Alex Alex yes, that is great Alex. If you are plugging your lipo into the Solo without the balancing plug you will not get telemery on the life or the voltage of the battery, but that is ok. If you have a plug in lipo battery checker plug it in the balancing plug so when the cells get low like 3.5 volts for each cell you will get an alarm sound telling you to land the Solo. Don't fly to far do a flight test to determine your battery flight time for that battery. If you can take a video and share. Happy flying.

Yes, understand could of made a verbal video error. Still using the DIY battery system and still works great. I recommend the LIHV 4S lipos @5200 MAH from Hobby King they have worked the best for longer flight time.
