Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful festive season Carole. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us for another year. Look forward to seeing your friendly, happy face and all your makes in 2025.❤❤
Hats off to you Carole....you persevered with that pinafore and it looks amazing on you. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope you have a blessed time. Thank you for your vlogs over the past year, they have been so entertaining.
Thanks so much, that is so kind Annette! I would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas too and thank you for your continued loyalty to my channel. 🎅🏼🧵
Love the pinafore on you! I really enjoyed watching you work through the fit issues with it too - thank you for sharing that. The reading pillows are amazing! Have a good weekend! Xx 💞
Thanks Izzy, the pinafore did look like a sack in the beginning didn't it 🤣. I had such fun making those pillow cases, I almost wonder if I need one too?! Hope your weekend plans are going well xx🎅🏼
The pinafore looks great on you, Carole. Not for the first time, I'm in awe of the amount of effort you went to to make a pattern work. It was worth it. Love the old stockings for your kids. What a treasure. The new stockings are very cool. Have a very happy Christmas.
Thanks so much for your kind comment on the pinafore. I did have about 5 mins when I thought about abandoning the project but it was saved as I loved the colour so much! Those old stockings, I mean what was I thinking 🤣. The kids do have very fond memories of them though. Merry Christmas to you too 🎅🏼🧵
Hi there Carole! I think the pinafore looks fabulous on you and my favorite shirt, of the ones you wore with it, is the wintery tree scene. Everyone needs some sparkle in their lives and I thought your animal print socks were very trendy and cute. You don't ever need to apologize to us. You be you. Thant's why we keep coming back to watch. Have a very Merry Christmas and thank you for the gift of all your vlogs, fun, projects, beautiful makes, your photos at the end and for always educating us. Enjoy all the family/friends time and if it gets to be a little much, just sneak away and do some sanity sewing 😵💫🤭😉🎄🪡🎁
Aww thank you so much for all those lovely comments, I so appreciate them. I am so glad you are still enjoying my video content whatever that happens to be and I will admit, it is quite random sometimes 🤣. The Sewing machine is all ready to be put in the cabin and I loved that you called it Sanity Sewing! It is our way of escaping isn't it. Have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful Sewing filled 2025. 🎅🏼🧵
Great video, and you are definitely not too old for a pinafore. A very practical item to have in any wardrobe, so many options for changing the look, however one chooses, and for most of the year too. I foresee more in your future lol.
Oh thank you so much Annette. It is indeed practical and so different from what I normally wear, as you said I may make more in the future! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
The pinafore came out so well!!! Well done for persevering!!! The colour is gorgoeus! Well done on the book pillows and those stockings are so luxe! How utterly amazing are those candy corn decorations! What a thoughtful pressie! Sending love Carole and happy Christmas to you and all your family ❤❤❤
Thank you Rachael, honestly I had sleepless nights about making a Pinafore. I seem to be starting to become more aware of my age and clothes at the moment and it annoys me! Wasn't that present hilarious, imagine if they did sell Candy Corn that big. I really hope you all have a wonderful Christmas over there and do hope the weather is kind to you so those boys can get out and about! We all need lots of fresh air around Christmas don't we and Katie's boys are having Scooters, fingers crossed for sunny days. Merry Christmas!🎅🏼🧵
Hi Carole, 45 year old who loves pinafores with a roll neck top and boots for winter here. That’s actually what I’m wearing right now. I love your version! It looks a lot like like the Fibre Mood Kaya dress which I’ve had my eye on for a while, and seeing you look so fab in your version I thought I’ll be putting this to top of my sewing list. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thank you for all your videos this year, I’ve loved watching you and seeing your makes and adventures.
Thanks so much for your comment, I really appreciate that! I have just looked up the Kaya Dress and you are right, that could easily be a pinafore as well. I seem to be struggling the nearer I get to 60 what I should and shouldn't be wearing and it annoys me that I care! May I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas too and thanks again for watching my channel. 🎅🏼🧵
I think it is very valuable to be able to look back and see your progress! Especially as a relatively new sewer when I’m still making plenty of mistakes. K xxx
Carole, your pinafore is brilliant! You look fabulous in it. I so look forward to your videos. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Healthy New Year.
Thank you so much and I really appreciate your comment on my videos. I am glad I still find things to 'show and tell'!! Merry Christmas to you and your family too and a very Happy Sewing filled 2025 🎅🏼🧵
Lovely video Carole. I love your pinafore. The Christmas stockings have turned out lovely and those book pillows are such a great idea. See you soon at our sewing sewcial. Enjoy your Christmas with the family and a happy new year. Lots of love xxxxx
Thanks so much Helen! I was so cross I didn't mention more about the Sewcial when I came to edit, especially the lady that made us those lovely crackers. I will be at the February one next time and I am so looking forward to it. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas too and a Happy Sewing filled 2025 🎅🏼🧵
Carole, it's so wonderful that you had time to sew this week! I only had 1 day free to make a few gifts. I love your pinafore! It looks great on you at any age! No worries. The pillow, the stockings, the in-the-hoop projects, WOW! What can I say?? FANTASTIC!! Merry Christmas my friend! 🎄🎅💝
Thank you so much Grace. I keep worrying about what I wear now as approaching 60 👵🏼, then I get cross with myself for caring! As for what I have sewn this week, you obviously have a social life and I don't!! Merry Christmas to you and all your family, lets hope for a Sewing Filled 2025 for us both xxx 💗🎅🏼
@@socarole66 Fearless Sewing in 2025 is my theme. I want to explore and have fun. No age restriction. I'll keep it stylish and classy!! Merry Christmas to you and yours my dear! 🥰❤🩹
Your pinafore is lovely Carole I bet it’s really comfortable to wear. Have a wonderful Christmas. I’ll be looking forward to watching you in the New Year. Pat 😀
Thank you so much Pat. You are right it is so comfortable to wear and not restrictive at all, plus I can layer up underneath! Merry Christmas to you too and see you in 2025 🎅🏼🧵
Thank you so much Anne and a very Merry Christmas to you. We can but hope about the world but let us enjoy what we have around us which is mostly good and try and avoid all the negative news which invades our minds. That is what keeps me sane!! Wishing you a Happy and Sewing filled 2025 🎅🏼🧵
Merry Christmas, Carole! I always enjoy watching your Friday Sews with my first cup of coffee early on Friday mornings. Today, I am doing my Christmas cleaning (washing floors, YUCK) and hopefully going out for groceries. Of course, I would much rather be sewing. My adult children will be around. My daughter and her cat (my Grandcat) will be home for a few days. Enjoy your family time. 🎄🎁🎅 HO HO HO Bernadette
And a HO HO HO to you too Bernadette!! 🎅🏼 In fact I saw Father Christmas with my Grandsons today! Ugh, Christmas cleaning, I have done a lot of that recently and clearing out piles of stuff that has been ignored for months. How wonderful that the family are coming for Christmas and I hope you enjoy your family time too with lots of fun and laughter. Merry Christmas! 🧵🎅🏼
Great job on the pinafore, Carole! Those stockings are precious - new and old! I have a tutorial for a reading pillow, if anyone needs it. Hubs and I are so glad you love your “forever” Candy Corn! Thank you for the kind words! I pray you and yours have a blessed Christmas! 😘💚❤️
Hi Andra, I am so sorry I had no idea about your Book Pillow Tutorial, I have now linked that in my description box for anyone who is interested. Thanks again for the Candy Corn...imagine how sugary that would be if they were real 🤣. I will never forget your face when you described what they tasted like to me! Merry Christmas to you and your family xx💗
@@socarole66No worries at all, sweet friend! Thank you for posting the link! 😘 I could eat an entire bag of Candy Corn back in the day! 🤣 It is definitely addicting! 😀🧡💛🤍
Carol, many thanks for showing us your processes whilst working out the fit of the pinafore. I, for one, (only started to sew last year in my middle-age!) really appreciate this. Christmas blessings to you and your familey.
Thank you so much for watching and I am so glad that I may have helped you in a little way. Well done on taking up Sewing. things are so much easier now with Tutorials on Patterns etc and access to wonderful fabrics. Not quite like when I started at 8! I still learn things with every project I swear and there are still so many processes I haven't done. Happy Sewing 🧵😊
All my machines are taking a well earned rest now and the oven will be busy! I think we are almost there for Christmas, I just need to clear that sewing room. Have a wonderful Christmas my friend and hope that Santa Paws comes for little Bella 🥰🎅🏼 xxx
The pinafore turned out great with the changes you made. It will be lovely for Christmas and beyond. The stocking will become a family treasure, and your grand boys gifts turned out beautifully. I think the best thing about sewing and knitting is personalized gifts. I think Andra did a tutorial a few years ago on a similar gift. The candy corn decor is cute. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄!
Thanks so much Nancy for all your lovely comments. I had no idea that Andra had done a Book Pillow tutorial 🙈, I have now linked that in my description box! I am so impatient when it comes to looking for tutorials and try to figure things like that out on my own.... until I get stuck of course. I hope you are right about those stockings. Merry Christmas to you too and thanks so much for your loyalty 🎅🏼🧵
That Pinnyfor is so lovely! I am sure you will get a lot of wear out of it! You have been such a busy bee! Look at all the gorgeous goodies that you made! Andria's gift is just awesome! I love the plans for the next week. Good Luck with everything and all the visitors! thank you for the photos!
Thanks so much Katinka. I was annoyed at myself for worrying about wearing that Pinafore and now wondering why I haven't had one before! Andra's gifts are always the best and this one is priceless. Merry Christmas to you and a Happy & Healthy 2025 wherever you may travel xx
I have this pattern, but have not sewn it. You did a great job with the adjustments! I have a son named Steven! The book pillows are very nice! Candy Corn!! Andra is the greatest! Merry Christmas to you and your whole family, Carole! 🥰🎄
Thanks so much Nancy. That pattern has just sat in my stash for years so I am glad I finally braved it and with adjustments, it worked! The sensible thing to do would have been to make a Toille but I always just want to get sewing. Merry Christmas to you and your family too. 🎅🏼🧵
Your pinafore looks lovely on you. Isn't it great to be able to make something that fits you so well. It looks like you have several tops to wear with it already. I'm sure the boys will love the book pillows. My granddaughters would like them. Those Candy Corns from Andra are hilarious. Have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy your time with your family.
Thanks so much Carol, I actually didn't realise how many tops I did have to wear underneath so that was a relief. I am glad you like the Book Pillows and I will be interested to see how the boys like them, I wouldn't mind one for myself! Merry Christmas to you too and a Happy New Year 🎅🏼🧵
A Two-for video. I love your non-me-made shirt!❤ Your jumpsuit looks adorable! I saw the jumpsuit by Love Notions and I did purchase it so that is on the plans for 2025! I don't remember that film but the main view does look like a school uniform. You're not too old for anything you want to make!❤
A 2fer!!! I honestly worried so much about making that pinafore but as it was a quick sew I thought, why not?! On reflexion I think the St Trinians films were British, made back in the 1950's so not surprised you may not have heard of them. Basically about an unruly Girl's School 🤣. Thanks for watching xxx
Oh thank you so much Debbie, I really appreciate that. I still enjoy doing my videos so much. May I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2025 too 🎅🏼🧵
Hi, Carole! You have been super busy this week! I just love that pinafore and you are very clever to have adjusted it so professionally. Don’t worry about the way that you did the arm holes, I often do them that way, because the other way is a nightmare to do. No one will ever know, lol. Good job lining it , also. You are one talented lady! The reading pillows are adorable, I know they will love them. I am feeling so much better, I went to my sewing room yesterday for about 4 hours and it was fantastic! I didn’t do too much sewing, mostly I just sat in the peace and quiet and looked at my machines and fabric. My sewing room is my happy place and my refuge from the world! I’m sure yours is, too. I’m so happy that I am finally better, I thought that I would never get well, but I have! I will have to be careful about crowds and such for a while, but I can handle that. I started small in my sewing yesterday, I made a pot holder! I plan to make 3 more to give to my daughter for a hostess gift as she has invited us to Christmas dinner this year. I am to do nothing, which will be a first! Merry Christmas to you and your whole family, may Christ’s blessing be upon you and yours. Happy sewing 🧵 😊
Oh Sue I am SO PLEASED you are feeling well again, well almost and the best thing of all is that you feel like sewing again! I imagine it was wonderful just to sit and appreciate your sewing room, patterns and fabrics. Sometimes we just want to be in our Happy Place don't we, even if all we do is some rearranging 🥰. What a marvellous idea to make some Pot Holders and yes, let your daughter be the hostess and just enjoy being with the family. I am sure you have done your fair share of hosting over the years. Thanks so much for your comments on my garments and also telling me that you too have done the armholes that way, you know I look up to you and your sewing ability! Merry Christmas and I hope you have a much Healthier 2025! 🎅🏼🧵xx
Merry Christmas, Carole. I love your pinafore, and it’s nice to see this style being worn. Adds variety to the wardrobe, doesn’t it? I’ve cut back my UA-cam viewing, but I’ll always tune in to see what you’ve been up to. Enjoy the holidays! 🎄-Deborah
And a Merry Christmas to you Deborah! Thanks so much for your kind comment on my pinafore, it was quite a brave garment for me. Keeping up with UA-cam viewing at this time of year is so hard I know! I have only followed two Vlogmasses as I find it too much. I am glad you have chosen to tune into me every now and again, I appreciate that. Happy Sewing in 2025 🎅🏼🧵
Hi Carole!I loved watching your process and wow you made that pinafore look way better than the cover model😎 Love the book pillows and pencil cases too. Those stockings are gorgeous and what a comparison 😂I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and happy 2025!❤❤❤❤
Hi Mary! Thanks so much for your kind comment on my pinafore, I honestly thought I may be a little too old for it but it is comfy. Oh those old stockings are hilarious, what was I thinking?! They do hold a lot of memories though so they will never be thrown away. Merry Christmas to you too and I hope you have a wonderful 2025 with lots and lots of Sewing 🎅🏼💗💗
Hi Carole. What a wonderful video from you! I love the pinafore…. The darts made such a difference. I have the new love notions pinafore pattern but, haven’t got it made yet. The Christmas stockings turned out lovely. I loved seeing the first versions from years ago… I am sure they were such a hit with your kids. You are so talented… and kind. The “candy corn” are perfect. I would never of thought to make something like that. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. I’ll look forward to seeing your video next Friday.❤ Diann
Thank you so much Diann. The pinafore sure was shapeless before those darts wasn't it but I had been warned. Sensible people would have done a toille but that isn't me...I just barge on in 🤣. That Candy Corn is hilarious isn't it but can you imagine if they were real!! Andra is so clever and always thinks 'outside the box' for presents. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas too and a safer 2025 🎅🏼🧵
I have made the very same pinafore Carol in chunky cord Emerald green. I love it so comfortable and warm. Thank you for your inspiring videos and views of the West Country at the end. Have a wonderful Christmas and new year. Keeeep sewing 🧵🎉
Thanks so much for your comment and yes, a chunky cord would work so well! I am envious of yours as does sound cosier, this was a very thin needlecord. There are so few results online for that Pinafore so it was great to hear that you have also made it. I really appreciate your comments on my channel and can I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too 🎅🏼🧵
I started cutting out Barbie clothes today for my granddaughter. Sewing in miniature begins tomorrow. It’s good ways to use up scraps. I used to wear these so much. I had several shirts or cotton knit tops to use with dress for seasons. I like your v-neck version.
Oh my word Cheryl...Barbie hems must be teeny, one or two stitches at the most! Good luck with that but I imagine they are such fun to do. Thanks so much for your kind comment on my pinafore, I don't think I can ever remembering wearing one at all! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎅🏼🧵
@ LOL! Those Barbie hems are one of the first steps. So while pieces are flat, I can just zip those all out fast😊 Even trims are added prior to seams. It’s amazing how much is done while pieces are flat. Velcro closure is added with ease too. I used to love pinafores! Little shirt or too underneath and dash out the door.
Thanks so much, I didn't realise how many tops I actually had that could go underneath it so that was a bonus. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well 🎅🏼🧵
Great job on the jumper and thanks for showing your altering process it was good. I laughed because I would have done the same for the armholes 😂. Beautiful stockings. Reading pillows are awesome gifts. I’ve made them for my grandkids teachers and embroidered on them to changed them up. Carole, have a very Merry Christmas, safe holiday and see you next year. Enjoy!!!
Thanks so much for your comments and glad it isn't just me that would think about a short cut on the armholes, who is ever going to check?! Now why didn't I think of embroidering on those Book Pillows, ah well maybe another time. Merry Christmas to you too and thanks so much for your support in 2024. Have a Happy and Sewing filled 2025 🎅🏼🧵
I think the technique for attaching lining that you were referring to is called the burrito method. Lifting Pins and Needles has a video showing how to do this. Hope you all have a lovely christmas and happy new year.
Thanks so much for your comment. I have done the Burrito method before but it normally is done before sewing up all the seams. This one is similar but there is a lot of twisting of seams etc. I did do it successfully before on a small dress but this was way too much fabric to fiddle about with and I decided way too late to line it, my own fault entirely! Lifting Pins and Needles is an amazing channel and there isn't much she hasn't done. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas too and lots of Sewing in 2025! 🧵🎅🏼
I am 72 years old and was looking at this pattern. I may do some more looking. I am 5' 105 lbs, so alterations are always needed. I am just not sure about this one. Thank you for sharing. I love your channel.
Thank you so much for your kind comment on my channel. I think this pattern should only been seen as a base for a pinafore but saying that, the alterations weren't hard to do. As it is such a quick make and basically two pieces (apart from facings) it is really easy to change. Merry Christmas and a Happy Sewing filled 2025 to you 🎅🏼🧵
Linings can be such a difference! I always feel more put together with a lined garment, or just wearing a slip. Makes me feel more comfortable. Another option for the arms would be to treat both layers as one and use bias tape. These days I feel like for most garments, having a “perfect” technique is not crucial enough for me to spend a few extra hours stressing over, as long as the end product fits well and is neat enough, and also a sturdy finish that can be laundered easily.
Thanks so much for your comment. After spending about an hour trying to figure out how to do the burrito method with the pinafore (I had already sewn too much to do it to be honest) I thought...why am I doing this if the end result will be the same! As you say, as long as whatever you do will hold out and looks neat that is all that matters. Have a Merry Christmas and thanks for watching 🎅🏼🧵
I was sent that pinafore dress in error with an order but I’ve always disregarded it - might revisit it now! Your pinafore looks great Carole and you’re definitely not too old! It really suits you. Stuart Hilliard does an excellent reading pillow tutorial which I always use to make mine. Have a lovely Christmas. See you in 2025. 🤗
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. That pinafore pattern is ok for a base but don't be like me, make a toille first! It is funny but when I searched Rachael's channel again I found that she used Stuart's tutorial so I linked it with my video. Merry Christmas to you too 🎅🏼🧵
Well Carole you're most definitely not too old to wear a pinafore (it looks great by the way). I know this because I've just recently made one and have some fabric to make another one. I won't tell the lining police about how you inserted the lining around the armholes (ingenious). Sometimes sewing is just about figuring out how to make something work for you. Love the stockings (new and old). Hope you have a great Christmas and New Year. Take care of the ankle and I'm looking forward to your makes vlog next week. 😊🏃♀🎄
Hi Ann, thanks so much for saying I am not too old to wear that pinafore! I seem to be struggling with myself at the moment about what I should and shouldn't be wearing and it annoys me!! I am in love with it though as it is so versatile so it will get a lot of use I know. Lining those armholes was driving me insane and after sitting on the floor for about an hour trying to work it out I thought, enough is enough! The end result will be the same so stop pretending you are a professional 🤣. I really hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and running filled 2025. I am still too scared to run, but I will in the New Year...as long as it isn't icy 😫. Take care my sewing friend xx🎅🏼🧵
I’ve been wanting to make a pinafore! Definitely going on the winter sewing list - I’m in NZ so summer here so it’ll be a while. I made Harry Potter reading cushions too! For my two boys and niece and nephew for their bunk room at the family beach house. They are all obsessed with Harry Potter currently. Merry Christmas!
My oldest Grandson is so obsessed too about Harry Potter and he doesn't know it yet but is going to Harry Potter world in London for his birthday in April! The funny thing is I remember reading the very first book to my son when it came out and now he is 33! Thanks so much for your kind comment on my pinafore and so glad it has made you want to give one a try. Merry Christmas to you too 🎅🏼🧵
Well done Carol, those adjustments to the pinafore pattern definitely worked. I made the square neck version in needlecord a couple of years ago. I wear it occasionally but feel that it’s pretty shapeless, I think it needs bust darts but I've never bothered to alter it. I might have a go at the V neck version having seen yours, which does look good on you .
Thanks so much for watching and interesting to hear you have made the pattern too. I was so worried about it being shapeless after seeing a couple of them on Instagram so I thought the V neck might look better. It certainly needs a dart here and there doesn't it! Have a good weekend 🧵😊
Oh no, your pinafore looks fabulous and I got rid of that pattern in the summer. I have used vogue V8897 which looks like a dress but the sleeveless version makes a great corduroy pinafore. Merry Christmas and thank you for all your lovely videos this year.
Thank you so much Andrea and believe me, that pattern has nearly been donated with me over the years...so glad I didn't in the end! Having said that I am sure there are better more shaped Pinafore patterns out there and sounds like you found one. Merry Christmas to you too and thanks so much for always being in the comments in 2024. 🎅🏼🧵
Thanks so much for your comment on my Pinafore. I don't know whether to thank you for telling me about a Candy Corn recipe... I feel it may be a disaster for my 2025 diet 🤣. I am intrigued though so I may search that out! Merry Christmas 🎅🏼🧵
Merry Christmas to you too!! I do hope for lots more Sewing in 2025 and hope that whatever I make (let's face it, it is quite unplanned and random a lot of the time!) you enjoy watching. 🎅🏼🧵
Hi Carole, you have made some lovely little presents. The stockings are fabulous. The pinafore pattern is one that I have made, the first time it came out a bit meh. Then I tried it with a fabric that has a little bit of stretch. Went down a size from what I thought I needed and it worked perfectly. I feels like New Look have suggested the wrong fabric types for this pattern. Make it in a jersey with only a small amount of stretch and hopefully it will be a much better fit. When you said "emergency sewing" I had to chuckle. It is like we can't put it down for long. Wonderful pics of the garden and the stately home, a place I have visited and it is so very grand there. Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. Take care 🎄🎁❤☺
Thanks so much for your comment Babbra. Making that Pinafore in a Stretch is something I never would have considered. I didn't realise you had sewn it. Its an ok pattern but needs more shaping doesn't it. Oh I need my Emergency machine without a doubt, I feel lost when I don't have access to any crafting or sewing 🤣. That National Trust house is so lovely and we spend a lot of time walking in the grounds there. Have a good weekend and if I don't get chance I will wish you a Merry Christmas🧵🎅🏼
Carole, so nice to see you for your Friday Sews! Love how your pinafore turned out, it looks fabulous on you. I always admire how much sewing everyone gets done even through the busy season. Sunday I helped my 7 year old grandson sew a square corner bookmark for his mother. He was so excited and even though I did the actually sewing he did most of the cutting out (with me overseeing) and he was very mindful of the sewing machine as he pushed the start/stop button on the machine. The fabric for your next hug hoodie looks wonderful! I was able to secure a copy of the Hug Hoodie pattern earlier this year after reaching out to the pattern designer . I had been so impressed with everyone's makes. I love my version and understand what you mean with the front so I was thinking on my next version I will lengthen it slightly and am hoping that will also correct the issue. Take care and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Thank you so much that is so kind of you! That is so lovely that you did some Sewing with your Grandson and his Mother will treasure that bookmark. Sounds like he is showing a real interest in sewing. Funny story about the Hug Hoodie today. As I showed I had it all cut out but what I couldn't find is the instructions, I never printed them and I cannot trace them at all or even the pattern on a website. I contacted Izzy from Dizzy Quilts and Sews and she has been a real star and sent me them. All I really needed to know was the order you had to sew the cross bit. I have reduced in the band and oh my goodness it looks as if it fits so much better. Cant wait to finish it and show you in a couple of weeks. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well 🧵🎅🏼
Merry Christmas Carol, thank you for all your vlogs. I don't know if you know but you can track Santa on Flight Radar!!!! Thought it might be good for your grandsons.
Thank you so much and the same to you and yours! Also I want to thank you for your loyalty to my channel. We do know about Flight Radar and we enjoy watching it let alone the boys 😂🎅🏼. Merry Christmas
I made the Nina Lee Camden Pinafore a while ago, which is supposed to be lined but I chose to draft facings. It has a back zip so that may have been an option for you to add to make the shape better, but still be able to get it on and off. Still, it has turned out nicely.
Thanks so much for your comment. I did look at that Pinafore and liked the lines and pockets on it. This one also had facings but because I have had issues with Needlecord sticking to tights before I knew it would need lining somehow. A back zip would have been a good idea yes but I think the darts work well. Merry Christmas and thanks so much for your loyalty to my channel in 2024 🧵🎅🏼
@@socarole66 Thank you, Merry Christmas to you and your family. If I make the Camden again I will probably line it. The one I made was a wearable muslin in some old fabric I had lying around for years, not knowing what to do with it, so I just copied someone's review blog and made the facings. It would probably have been quicker to do the lining!
I very much enjoy your channel and your pattern reviews, especially since you sew the Big 4 (or is it Big 5 now?) commercial patterns. You are so helpful-thank you!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your comment about what patterns I use as they really aren't popular in the UK. I feel an outcast using them most of the time but I love them and I have so many! I really miss VivMom Sewing and her reviews on the Big 4/5 don't you? Merry Christmas 🎅🏼🧵
@ Yes; Vivmom Sewing is one of my favorites. She still posts, but isn’t as consistent as she used to be. Seems like UK sewists use independent pattern companies, which cost more here in the States. But the UK has beautiful fabric that I find difficult to find here in the US.
@ Independent patterns are expensive over here too believe me, that's why I can never understand it! We do have access to nice fabrics, I will agree with that. Xx
That's some Christmas cracker! Lovely photos of the manor house (a mini "Downton Abbey 😄!)and your garden - if the weather gets cold the daffodils might have some browning and withering of the tips but they'll still flower in the spring. Your pinafore looks great! I remember years ago I was looking at patterns with my daughter and liked one, to which she said, "Oh, Mom! Women your age don't wear things like that!" Well, she was a teenager then and thought she was saving me from embarrassment (or saving her from having an embarrassing mom 🤣!). I think if it looks nice and appropriate, there isn't an age limit other than your own good taste, and your pinafore is just fine. Wishing a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year to you and all your family 🥰!
Can you imagine how loud the bang would be with that cracker!! Thanks so much for watching and your lovely comments. I appreciate you telling me not to worry about the Daffodils, Mother Nature knows what she is doing doesn't she. Why I worried about the pinafore I will never know as if I made it as a dress I wouldn't think twice but just because I put a jumper underneath it, would it be wrong for me?! Crazy eh? My daughter hasn't seen it yet so I will await her comment. Merry Christmas to you and your family too and a Happy and sewing filled 2025 🎅🏼🧵
Well done with the pinafore. I too made this pinafore some time ago and was really disappointed with it. I also tweaked it to make it fit but I still wasn’t happy with it. I don’t wear it sadly. Yours looks great though. Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas and happy New Year. Look forward to your videos in 2025. All the best.
Thanks so much for the comment on my pinafore. I was warned by so many about the fit and lets face it, I really had to reshape mine. Sorry to hear you were never happy with yours. I am so glad I did the V neck though as I really feel it made it look more modern. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas too and a Happy Sewing filled 2025. 🎅🏼🧵
Good save on the pinafore! Looks cute! Could you point me towards the pattern for the front zip pencil pouches? Great that it kind of keeps the pencils in! 💕
am so sorry, it was one I just made up along the way. The principle is kind of the same as my Wet Bags tutorial. I used 10" High and 10 1/2" wide. I layer of batting and 2 layers of contrasting fabric. I also put in a zip as in my tutorial. Hope that helps? The construction is kind of the same but with a batting in the middle. The zip is 1" down from the top. Failing that, there are many UA-cam videos out there for Pencil Pouches. Thanks for watching 🧵🎅🏼
Please don't be sorry for wearing something not handmade. Your happy jumper (sweater in the US) is perfect for this happy season! I wore many handmade-by-my-mom pinafores growing up. They were especially popular during the late 60s and early 70s. I loved them. However, we called them jumpers! LOL Maybe it was just my region of the country--the midwest. The first time I watched a British TV show and heard the word jumper referring to clothing other than what I knew a jumper to be, I could not figure out what they could possibly be referring to! It took me months to understand why a boy would wear a jumper! LOL I love how our language is the same yet different. Thank you for your podcast, Carole. I enjoy it very much, and wish you and your family a Blessed Christmas and very happy 2025!
It is so funny that I refer to my top as a Jumper as my parents don't understand that either, they would say Pullover ! They always correct me 🤣. That is so funny about your word Jumper as when I watch the US vlogs I always get confused too. I really appreciate your kind comment about my channel and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2025 🎅🏼🧵

I am quite a few years older than you ..recently started sewing clothes for me and have decided I’m going to wear what I like ..colours I like..even if not made very well.. so just go for what you want ..what does it matter ?
Thank you so much for your comment and you are right, I like it so I won't be ashamed to wear it outside! I think it is just so different to what I normally wear which is a good thing. Thanks again 🧵😊
Fantastic pinafore Carole! All of your makes are so good. Have you checked out Kreative Kiwi for in the hoop projects, they have so many and a huge number of free patterns. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Xmas, enjoy.
Thanks so much for your kind comments about my makes. I haven't heard of Kreative Kiwi so I will definitely look that up, my problem though is I only have a 4x4 hoop. Maybe I should upgrade in 2025! Merry Christmas to you too 🎅🏼🧵
Merry Christmas to you and yours. Since you started this project I have wondered something. When I was growing up that was called a jumper and was stilled called that when I made them for my daughter. A pinafore was different, sort of a fancy apron affair that went over a pretty dress, usually attached but not always. I live in Michigan and wonder if that is a US thing?
Thank so you much. You are right about the Jumper name , that is a US term and yes we call them pinafores. However, I shouldn't really call what I was wearing a jumper (sweater) as my parents always tell me off for that and say it is a Pullover 🤣. So many different names we have for the same things, that is what makes life so interesting! Merry Christmas to you and your family too 🎅🏼🧵
Hi Carole, "Lining Police" Here! Lololol. I don't know how to do a lining at all so I think you did great. I probably would have done the same thing! What did you use for the lining material?
👮🏼♂️🚔🚨 " Stop there Carole!!!!, you haven't lined this garment correctly!!" "You will be sentenced to watching hours of UA-cam tutorials until you do it right"🤣🤣xx

I love a book pillow! So nice for kids, but really any age. Can be helpful for containing reading glasses or the TV remote, a tablet, etc.
Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful festive season Carole. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us for another year. Look forward to seeing your friendly, happy face and all your makes in 2025.❤❤
Thank you so much Trudy and thanks for supporting my channel in 2024. I am so glad you still enjoy my videos. Merry Christmas 🧵🎅🏼
It feels like spring outside here. It's rainy but there's no snow and it's in the high '30s.
Merry Christmas my friend.❤
Oh Merry Christmas Zelda!! Thanks so much for being such a loyal supporter and friend to me in 2025 🎅🏼🧵xx
Carole, I like your pinafore. This is perfect for the Winter.
Thank you so much, I love that it is still roomy enough to layer up underneath! Merry Christmas 🎅🏼🧵
I’ve not heard of reading pillows. I love the idea, and I’m sure your grandsons will love these!
I hadn't heard of them either until I saw The French Seams video last year. I can't wait to see if the boys like them! Thanks so much for watching 🎅🏼🧵
Love that you show us the process of getting the fit right. K xxx
Thanks Kelly, the sensible thing would have been to make a toille but I am always too impatient for that 🤣xx
@ my a lover of toiling either 🤣 xxx
Wishing you a lovely Christmas.
Right back at you Ann!! Thank you so much for your loyalty to my channel this year and I wish you a Happy Sewing filled 2025 🎅🏼🧵
Merry Christmas to you and yours Carole! Wishing you much inspiration and us all happy sewing in 2025! 🎄🎅🏻🧵👍
Thank you so much and a very Merry Christmas to you too. Let's hope 2025 brings lots of Happy Sewing to us all 🎅🏼🧵
Hi Carole, 45 year old who loves pinafores with a roll neck top and boots for winter here.
It’s a super cute Christmas jumper! That’s pinafore is bang on trend!certainly in the sewing world! Love that bottle green colour. K xxx
I am on trend?!?! Now either I am paying more attention than I think to the media or I am just lucky 🤣. Thanks so much for your comment xxx
The pinafore genuinely looks fab with those tops.
Oh thank you so much, I really wasn't sure if they would go being patterned. Have a Merry Christmas 🧵🎅🏼
I think it is very valuable to be able to look back and see your progress! Especially as a relatively new sewer when I’m still making plenty of mistakes. K xxx
I mean what was I thinking with those appliques...that doll!!! It was over 30 years ago though so that is my excuse. xxx
@ that is a good enough excuse and I bet your children loved them xxx
CFarole, Sending Light and Love to you and your family for a Blessed Christmas Season. 🌲❤🌲
Thank you so much Maureen and the same back to you. I so appreciate you always being there in the comments for me.
Merry Christmas 🎅🏼🧵xx
Merry Christmas to you too and see you in 2025 🎅🏼🧵
Very happy Christmas Carole and your family and let's hope the world will become a better place in 2025.❤❤
Thank you so much Anne and a very Merry Christmas to you.
You did a great job fitting that pinafore, it looks lovely. Happy Christmas
Thank you so much for being kind! Merry Christmas to you too 🎅🏼🧵
I love the little jumper/pinafore... I think I have this pattern. Lovely garden!
Thank you so much, it is a very quick and easy pattern, I just think it needs a bit of shaping. 🧵🎅🏼
My goodness! Your sewing machine was really humming along this week, wasn't it? Are you all set for Christmas? Enjoy your company during the holiday!
Awh!....your dress is cute.❤
Thank you so much, that is so kind of you 🎅🏼🧵
Love your pinny you did well my you have been busy love it I wish a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year keep safe and will see next year ❤❤😊🎉
Thank you so much Robyn and a very Merry Christmas and Happy Sewing filled 2025 to you too 🎅🏼🧵
I have this pattern, but have not sewn it.
Thanks for a great year of vlogging Carole. Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2025. Xx
Oh thank you so much Debbie, I really appreciate that. I still enjoy doing my videos so much. May I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2025 too 🎅🏼🧵
@ 💖
Love your channel Carole!
Oh thank you so much! That is so kind of you 🎅🏼🧵
I have made the very same pinafore Carol in chunky cord Emerald green.
So while pieces are flat, I can just zip those all out fast😊
Even trims are added prior to seams. It’s amazing how much is done while pieces are flat. Velcro closure is added with ease too.
I used to love pinafores! Little shirt or too underneath and dash out the door.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thank you so much and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family as well 🎅🏼🧵
Your pinafore is fabulous and looks great with the tops you styled it with! I’m still loving those stockings! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thanks so much, I didn't realise how many tops I actually had that could go underneath it so that was a bonus.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well 🎅🏼🧵
Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year, Looking forward to seeing you what you make in 2025
Thank you so much Fiona and the same to you and your family. Who knows what sewing I will be doing in 2025! 🎅🏼🧵
Wishing you and yours a most magical Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 from D & K xxx
The same to you both. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and we need to get together in 2025!! 🎅🏼🧵
@ 100%! We need to visit Andrea! So looking forward to it xxx
Happy Christmas xxx
Merry Christmas to you too 🎅🏼🧵
I think the technique for attaching lining that you were referring to is called the burrito method.
Merry Christmas to you too 🎅🏼🧵
Merry Christmas
And a very Merry Christmas to you Pamela. 🎅🏼🧵😊
Hello from Québec , Canada
Bonjour!! Thanks so much for watching and I always love it when I find out where my viewers are from. Joyeux Noël 🎅🏼🧵
Merry Christmas to you andyour family x
Thank you very much and the same to you and your family 🧵🎅🏼
Your pinafor is very pretty. You and your family must have a merry Christmas. The pictures is beautiful.❤
Thank you so much, I am so glad you like it. Thank you also for your good wishes and I do hope you have a very Merry Christmas too 🧵🎅🏼
Well Carole you're most definitely not too old to wear a pinafore (it looks great by the way).
I wear it occasionally but feel that it’s pretty shapeless, I think it
needs bust darts but I've never bothered to alter it.
Such a great inspiring video. Thanks for all your hard work Carole. Hav8a very lovely Christmas 🌲🌻
Oh thank you so much Anne, I really appreciate your support for my channel. Wishing you a Merry Christmas too 🧵🎅🏼
Oh no, your pinafore looks fabulous and I got rid of that pattern in the summer.
Fab pinafore xx❤
Thank you so much! 🧵🎅🏼
Love your pinafore! Good job! Btw on UA-cam there is a recipe for making candy corn in case you can't find any to buy.
Thanks so much for your comment on my Pinafore. I don't know whether to thank you for telling me about a Candy Corn recipe... I feel it may be a disaster for my 2025 diet 🤣. I am intrigued though so I may search that out!
Merry Christmas 🎅🏼🧵
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas 🎉 and a Happy 2025 with lots of inspiration and good sewing!🧵
@@socarole66 Thank you Carole, you have a Merry Christmas too ☺
Carole, so nice to see you for your Friday Sews!
Xx
Seasons Greetings….and plenty of sewing 🧵 in 2025…..😊🎄🇦🇺
Thank you so much and yes, I hope I can sew many more things in 2025! Merry Christmas to you too 🧵🎅🏼
That's some Christmas cracker!
@ thank you!
Carole, Do you have a tutorial on how you do those zip pouches where the zip is on the front instead of the top like you made?

Do you have a tutorial or pattern for the zip pencil pouches please?
