It’s so fun watching these older videos and seeing how far your shop has come in the few years. Thanks for all the content over the years - love you and all that you do David!
A bottom on the drawers, even 1/8" plywood would keep them from racking and the joints loosening over time and use.
Those are absolutely gorgeous. Before you even talked about making them the legs of your future desk, I had the same idea for a future desk of my own. Great job!
Thank you for leaving the pocket hole mistake in the video. It encourages the rest of us who are just starting to learn these skills and are making lots of mistakes.
man i love how the garage turned out! honestly, i had my doubts with the way you described it at first, but it looks amazing and i would never guess that it used to be a garage. looking forward to your office, as well.
They came out really really good. Thanks for sharing with us David!
Sweet build! I have the same heating/cooling system in my shop. Take a 20x20 air filter, cut it half, and lay it over the top of your vents on the indoor unit. It will prevent small dust particles from getting into the system. Thanks for all the great vids!
I joined the live when this was being made and was Looking forward to the finish product. Really like this!
Awesome file cabinet! I’ve purchased a used table saw and bandsaw for $80 total over the past couple months. It’s changed my life, haha!
Seriously, I love your videos! Keep up the awesome work.
Right on! Thanks Nic!
Third! Straight Outta Livestream!
Love these file cabinets. They're perfect!
Those little chamfer details add a lot! I agree with you...the shellac is so nice on that walnut!
These turned out looking great! I love the look of walnut!
The new workshop looks awesome!
David this is one of my favorite projects of yours thus far. Love walnut! Looks great, dude.
Hey Dave, loving your dream office series. You are giving me some good ideas for my dream shop/ office. Thanks for all you do man
This is cool to finally see... I watched the live video for this, makes you realise how much work goes in to what actually gets uploaded
*TopFineWoodworking. Com* is a fantastic website about wood working. I took various classes as well as finished a one year diploma in carpentry at a local tech college; this is much better than any book I worked out of during those lessons. It explains everything regarding woodworking as well as complements it with helpful photos.?
Wow, the new shop looks massive now with the tools in it. I hope the carpet is working out the way you wanted it to.
Really cool project David. I like the idea that the cabinets can be used as legs for a desk! 😀👍👍
Great video and great inspiration as always!
These filing cabinets came out absolutely fantastic.
That came out great! Looks like your getting settled into the new shop, congrats, that must feel great!!
Another great project in the books!! Awesome job as always David!!!
+Parawoodcreate thanks!!
Looks great. I love walnut.
Really cool to watch the live stream you did of these. To get to see the filming process and then the finished product. Completely Awesome! Thanks for sharing what excites you!
Thanks man! I'm having so much fun!
Like that you show your set backs. We learn from our set backs. High five
Diggin' the new shop! Looks like you have a little more room to move around in there compared to the old basement shop. Thanks for inspiring me to get me started in woodworking and for all the great build videos and info!
Being caught up on the podcast sucks because now I have to wait for the projects I hear about to come out. Looking good as always!
Thanks James!
Loving It!!!
That's a beautiful shop! It looks very warm as well.
I’m jumping the gun. Love the new shop. Lighting is fantastic! I will saw the stone wallpaper back drop is a little loud but still love it. Can’t wait to see that new drum sander in action.
Wow, with the trim and shellac done they look really fancy. Nothing at all like regular plywood furniture. Well done!
They look great!! Great job!!
Turned out beautifully! And btw your new shop is dope, love it!
New shop space looks great David! Cabinets came out great. - Jim
Belo trabalho...obra de arte!!!!
Great project. I got a lot out of this simple build. I did not know Kreg had a Micro hole jig. That's great to know. I also have seen the drawer slide jig... but people usually edit out actually how to use it. So that was good to see. I've also only used shellac once. So it was a good reminder that you have that video. Your finishes always seem to come out great and are simple. The shop looks like it's coming along great. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos.
+Angie Overton right on, thanks Angie!
Thanks for not over explaining and keeping the pace moving. I get bored easy if people drag out their videos.
The new shop is looking awesome!
Wow, the shellac really makes the grain pop! I'll add drawer bottoms to mine as I tend to over pack them and some important paper slips between the folders and ends up underneath. The likelihood of a page falling between folders increases exponentially with the urgency with which I need to find it.
I love how much room you have there. nice job
The shop looks awesome!
Awesome video. Quick easy to follow.Keep up the good work. Thank You.
Love it!
Nice job
Great vid David.
Very pretty finish!!!
Those look awesome David! 👍👊
Loving the new mancave!
cool video David!
Great editing on this one!
They look fantastic
Great video. The shop/studio set is looking fabulous too! : )
Very cool! Thank you, for sharing! :)
I have been wanting to replace my old crummy filing cabinet with a nice one. I'm definitely going to consider this design. Also I had no idea they made micro sided pocket holes.
Micro pocket holes are my new favorite thing!
Your new space is looking so good!
Good work
Good project!
I love everything you do! Keep up the great work
I love this comment! Thanks!
Congrats on new shop. I love it.
Beautiful.
LOVE IT
Really stylish cabinets.
You showing up your screw ups is awesome. Makes me feel better about my screw ups lol
I think you also featured every drill and impact driver you had in the shop at the time you shot this. Great build!
I think I saw a dewalt, Bosch, and porter cable cordless drills. Good show sir!
Nice!
Beautiful work brother!
Love the new crib
Building one of these right now, thanks for the plans! Curious why you didn't use a thicker piece for the footer? Once you cut the chamfer it creates a gap when adding the face frame.
So many cool helpful now a days. Nice video.
Cool!
That new shop looks clean! Time to fill it up with tools!
nice job David Can't go wrong with walnut and shellac
Dude! your new shop is gorgeous!
Nice Color
Beautiful! One of your top three builds for sure. Nice job, David. Happy Thanksgiving. Gobble Gobble
+Joseph Muench happy thanksgiving Joseph!
I love the way you edit :)
You tha man!! Have a great turkey day
Nice build. One thing, put triangle blocks in the bottom corners of the drawers. As you use them with the weight of the files, it will wiggle the box of the drawers just enough to weaken them. Trust me as time goes by... BTDT
+Thistledown Woodcraft right on, thanks for the tip!
The best 🖖🇺🇸.....
Nice to see the end result of the Livestream video... Awesome
Those two cabinets are possibly the nicest home built file cabinets I've ever seen. Will you use the same walnut veneered board with solid walnut lipping for your desk top? (I think it would look the ducks guts if you did.) The "drawers" will last much longer if they have a secure base otherwise racking, especially when loaded with a lot of files, will cause it to self destruct.
Your shop is looking like a shop studio! Cheers, David
Love your videos. Keep them coming brother. After watching your videos I want to get in the shop
Thanks Josh!
Make Something cheers to you. Can't pay a pic of my drink. (Rum and Dr pepper.
Oh, look...a Rockler commercial. Just kidding...those clip-on file holders are an excellent idea.
Very nice David! The desk is going to look awesome! Happy Thanksgiving!
Straight from the Livestream!
Thanks for hanging out!
So you prefer adding the edge banding after assembly? I've been considering trying the banding first…
Feels good that you finally have the new shop up and running so that we get the steady stream of vids again. I'd love to be a patreon supporter but sadly i can't even afford new screws atm haha
+marcus koko don’t worry about the Patreon support! I appreciate the encouraging comments!
Nice New Workshop
I didn't think it was coming. I was scared until 7:59. Then I was happy. I don't know why that makes me happy, but I find it very entertaining.
PS. Long the new shop. Can't wait to see the tour
Круто!
Better hope none of your files weigh 700 lbs and jump up and down on those pocket hole joints... :D Beautiful cabinets!
+kyjeepguy haha!
just as it should
Ok now i have to listen to my old Shellac's ! And i'll have FUUUUNNN !!
Thank you btw :)
Hi David. Great video and project. A quick question- Would you recommend Black and Decker drill and driver? I`d like to buy a new set and looking for something affordable
Pro tip...Place a weight in the bottom of your file drawer and it will keep it from tipping when loaded. Since it’s going under your desk that won’t apply, but it might help someone else. Great video!
Like the bigger project David!
Hey David! I have the same bandsaw you just got, are you keeping your old bigger bandsaw for resawing and the small one for cutting small stuff?
Beautiful set of cabinets. My only critique is not having a bottom to each draw. I understand that technically there is no need for them because everything is supposed to hang, but in my experiences with my filing cabinets, I always have files that fall and am having to clean them up. These look great though.
