    1. Pick an ace
    2. Pick support for the ace
    3. Cover your ace's weakness
    4. Get a secondary sweeper
    5. Train good stats, abilities and moves
I might have to watch this a couple more times, but that's what I've gathered so far.

Just wanted to say thank you for making this video. This will be my first season getting into competitive Pokémon and team building has been one of the most daunting aspects. Dude!! ❤
Thank you so much for this vid! I’ve recently started to try out competitive and I have been watching quite some guides and tutorials on team building.
NONE has come close to how helpful and crisp this vid is. Your way of going through step by step WITHOUT over explaining but still explaining the basics so much as AOE, Trick room, and the effect of items is sooo helpful to figure out how your train of thoughts could/should be when building teams.
I feel so much more confident and calm trying out to build myself now!

Happy to hear you liked it! This vid is pretty old but the mechanics I reviewed in the order I did them still hold up in todays game. You could seriously still go win on the ladder and get to master ball with the team I showed in this video

I built this as my first competitive team because I had no idea how to start. Thank you. Having a solid place to start allowed me to learn a ton about the game and gain confidence in doubles. I knew garchomp was a good place to start as a noob since he is fast and hits hard. Thanks for all the information. Watching it again and already picking up even more info than before. I have the admit as a noob I don't seem to be very good at using murkrow and I keep hesitating to bring him because basically anything one shots him. I know it's because I'm such a noob that I don't appreciate him enough but I really don't understand tailwind use and tailwind technicalities yet.

This is great. I shifted from Singles to VGC at the start of SwSh and had ONE really successful team that was a half fluke, because my gameplan just happened to break a lot of comps. But because I never quite got the technique behind it, once the meta shifted and my team didn't work anymore, I had a really hard time finding anything new that worked for me. Teambuilding for Doubles is just really hard for me, turns out. This is the first guide I found that goes this indepth into the thought processes. Here's hoping that'll help me build better teams!
Another thing is that I'm a little too attached to using some of my favorites, which makes it a tad harder. I'm not sure Lokix and Glimmora can do well in VGC (so far, Glimmora was a grwat nuke, but that's it). Oh well.

It was really interesting to see your thought process on how to build a team. You hinted at a couple of more advanced considerations such as making the opponent respect Murkrow and then being able to punish them for respecting Murkrow so much. Based on all the good energy you have, I think it would be really interesting to see more videos like this. Another interesting team building approach I was wondering about was building around a natural synergy that two or more mons have. This build was focused on making Garchomp shine, and it was cool to see synergy flow from natural considerations, but I am curious about what it may be like to build around a pair of Pokémon with synergy. Great Video, I learned a lot. Especially at the end with EVs and Moves. The beginning part was a bit harder to follow, cause the video assumed you just know what pokemon are good for certain roles and used lots of terms like "Dive Buddy" and such which I am assuming most people know, but as a new player I was lost. Like I feel you selected those first 6 pokemon way quicker than any person trying to replicate this as a beginner would be able to do. I hope in your next video like this, you spend more time going through the indepth decisions around those first 6.

Videos like this are awesome! Keep it up because it was very informative.
My only gripe with the competitive scene is that so many of the competitive teams look the same.
I wish people got more creative with their teams instead of just using what's popular.

I was getting frustrated cause I kept losing with my pokemon team. I didn't really put much thought into making the team cause I just put in pokemon that I personally like. I'm gonna shiny hunt all the pokemon you used in your team and make my team for competitive

I'm not very good at playing or going against trick room teams. Do you think you could make a video on it? Like a trick room 101 video on how to play trick room and how to play against it? It would really help learning about the current meta

This video was incredible would love to know what the next step is in terms of iterating through a team Vs throwing it out I have a team but I always seem to tinker with it than stay with it and learn to readjust to certain things in the meta - a video about this supplemented with everything done so far would be incredible, thank you

What do you mean? This is pretty much everything you need to know for team building.

@@THATSAplusONE I agree however as the meta develops and continues to grow ideas and changes to the team will be necessary in the future would love to see how you take an initial team and then make reasonable adjustments like right now there's a lot of steel, poison and fire tera Hydreigon running about. For a beginner this video was great but I know that sometimes you need to make adjustments would love to know how you would adjust given teams or maybe a team spotlight you go over teams your viewers made and why they may struggle or be ineffective

I will always like Gardevoir because of the movesets she has and for other obvious reasons. I was planning to do Choice Scarf with Max Sp. Atk & Speed.

I made Master Ball pretty easily with my own version of this team. Biggest issue I ran into was Tera Steel Hydreigon, though I still won more than I lost against that mon.
