I always love these teambuilding videos. I know they must take a TON of time, and it really shows. Everytime I build a team I refer to the videos and it really pays off. Thank you for the content!
Im glad people like you can tell that this actually takes a LOT longer than just the run time. I have to sit on these ideas and flowchart for a long time to get to the level where I can actually teach this stuff haha
2 things 1. Sending some love hoping you get through your hard time quickly. Here for you man. 2. Videos like these are fire. Love these tips and the team
Always love how genuine you are and how much you truly want to help people really shows. I don't play competitive pokemon anymore, but I greatly appreciate your work and just truly enjoy watching you. Keep doing you my man and continue to be yourself! Wishing you so much happiness! :)
Ever since I found your channel, your content has been so helpful for me to learn about the game, I'm nowhere near close to be as good as I'd like, but I do appreciate your content.
You're the go-to place for me to get in-depth team building thought process. No one else I've seen even comes close. Also, hope you're in a better spot than you were at the time of this video!!
thank you for taking the time to make this video, I've been playing VGC for a few years but sometimes it's super easy to forget the basics of making a good team and this vid has reminded me of that! I have been a passive watcher for a little while but hearing you're going through a rough patch thought to leave a comment and sub - hoping you feel better soon and looking forward to your future videos : )
Your content has helped me understand modern vgc and my oreferred playstyles as an “old school” player. Super appreciate the work you put in. Also love the amoongus take, feel like it got dropped too hard for the new shiny stuff
currently building a Reg H team for the first tournament coming up this saturday, and while i know this video is for Reg E, it's extremely helpful! thank you so much!
Thanks for this video, absolutely perfect for beginners, fortunately i was trying to build my own torn/urshi team and found this video, clean and clear about how to customize your own team, as a beginner i was stuck on the ev spread, helped a lot, huge like from Taiwan!!
You’re underrated! There are a bunch of new vgc content creators coming up that are primarily showcasing others’ rental teams and they know how to play them but probably couldn’t explain why the team works. You’ve got years of experience and a more fundamental understanding of team building and compositions that only come with experience.
I only started caring about vgc this generation and found your channel recently. While watching other teams may be fun, I learn more from your videos. Hearing your predictions which are usually correct helps me to make the same calls and get good at the game. That’s the real value beyond just entertainment.
Suggestions for channel growth: 1) collaborations with other channels for exposure. An outside the box example, chimpact’s Pokémon Jeopardy series 2) hopefully win at tourneys because that’s exposure in itself. Winning teams automatically attract interest. 3) might be worth considering branching out in content 4) getting more involved on other socials like twitter. jeudy, ugarte, moxie, etc are all super active there and it builds name recognition.
Ill give a brief overview for my thoughts on these. 1) I dont really collab well with others. Forcing myself to be social when thats really not my vibe feels fake and I dont want to fake anything. Also I dont really watch like ANY Pokemon content so I wouldnt want to collab with somebody to boost views who I personally dont watch myself. 2) I won a PC last week! Hopefully I do well in San Antonio! 3) Branching out doesnt really work well on YT unless you are already big imo. For all my other hobbies I have channels made specifically for them like Music, Cards, Skateboarding, Digimon, etc 4) Social media in general feels extremely cliquey and back to option 1. kinda fake to me. (Not that THEY are being fake, more so that it just goes against how I normally carry myself so id be being fake to REALLY dive into it) If I vibe with somebody I can spend time with that person 1 on 1 and not just interact with them specifically for everyone online to see. At the end of the day I want to make the content that makes me happy and have it appreciated by the people that enjoy it. I dont really care about numbers or money and honestly im not about to "sell out" to "make it" Hopefully that answered any questions. Again thanks for the support!
I haven’t played VGC since sword and shield, thank you so much for this guide, I always have trouble with doubles since I have a singles oriented brain.
Bro, that website where you plug in mons and teams to see your weaknesses and resistances might be the best thing I've seen in teambuilding!! Thank you so much
Love your content been a minute since I’ve played Pokémon, been on destiny a lot but have you playing in the background is nice. I hope it gets better for you, keep up the great work
Wish i had the money to support more financially homie youre effort really shows and you give me that kick in tha rear i need to out effort in to getting good at my favorite game, with out you its just overwhelming to figure it out on myown

Dude i just discovered your content and it inspired me to try making my own teams! I'm not on your level yet but man is it fun to win a game with my own weird design. Sorry to hear your in a rough patch, if it helps any I am also currently in a rough patch, misery loves company right? Hang tough man
Really appreciate this video. I’ve been playing for a long time. But I’d have a bad habit of using pokemon and giving them coverage moves instead of having a strat. This really helped me and gave really great tips on my approach to team building moving forward even for casual play. Thanks a bunch! Hope things get better for you too🙏🏾
Been getting my head into team building after not playing for a bit, and after stumbling on this video I gotta say the methodology you go through really helps things click. I've always gone through each Pokemon one at a time and this video really captures the holistic approach to team building. Can't wait to give it a try! Anyone here in the comments got any resources to help someone study up on common meta strats?
Your easily the most educational and informative TCG tutor period! Thank you for all your top class tutoring. Ps. Keep your chin up dude! Life is a bitch but Pokémon seems to help keep the mind soldiering on!
Hell yeah we need more team building videos, it's always great to see your thought process for making teams. Hope you can do a detailed guide on a meme team next!
I know I've just loved them for so long, there are other that do it's job better but I think it's awesome and with terra it's finally able to put up a fight lol. Side note, thanks for replying to me! Fanboying over here now haha you're awesome dude! Made my day
Love these kinds of videos! Always good to think about 4x weaknesses and immunities. Ice punch is so nice on Hands. Had some fun destroying a Heatran with my ground tera blast Victreebel
Decided to watch this while playing warhammer 3. There were some interesting choices to go against the meta. But whatever, your team, you choose the flow. The line that made me click off though, " I have a weakness to fairy type. So im going to pick up Hisuien Arcanine. " lol what. If you tera'd into steel then okay. But I didn't stick around to see if thats what you were going for. Good luck.
I enjoy your videos. I used your video on Garchomp to help me build my first competitive team and since i continue to use the team building principles that you taught when i build new teams or help other friends build their teams. My only question is, do you only build these teams with doubles in mind? My group of friends do about 3-4 tournaments a years, but its always singles with teams of 6. I would love to watch you build a teams that is only meant for singles.
Hey thatsa, thought I'd leave a comment. When you were describing what you wanted i was trying to guess what it would be. Beating Lando, Heatran, Urshi, Torn, I was thinking bramble ghast as an option. Then when you were talking about who would pair well with chien pao to resist fairy and hit with strong priority i was going to guess scizor.
I remember your EV guides in BDSP you only put enough evs in offense to get an 80 some % chance to OHKO. Would it make the most sense to calc 100% OHKO chance in all pokemon games?
I actually dont have one. I learned them in a REALLY REALLY old fashioned way that I honestly wouldnt recommend so I havent made a video going over them yet as trying to teach people the way I learned would be needlessly complicated lol
Curious your thought behind rocky helmet on torn over mental herb? Getting taunted by opposing torns or other mons who have taunt and mental herb would set back your first 3 turns or so no?
The Taunt on our own torn SHOULD disincentivize them to taunt us cause we LOOK to be full speed and if they lost that speed tie and taunt us AFTER we tailwind or whatever they effectively lose the game.
So, I only have access to my iPhone and switch, unfortunately I don’t have a laptop or PC so can you advise on any (if any) team building options please?
*obligatory algorithm boosting comment here also, do you have any vids going over specifically improving your real-time decision making in actual games? i know that you've talked about flowcharting, lead combinations and the like, but personally my biggest issue is with being able to counter my opponents' gameplan rather than just enacting my own idk if that makes sense
I played competitive Pokemon from Gen5 up to Gen7. Don't know why but I totally lost the interest in it after the first few months of USUM. Wanted to get back into it but nowadays I feel like my brain isn'T braining anymore in terms of Pokemon xD
Team looks Broken, I like that you had very intentional reasons for using what you do. That's definitely what makes the difference than just "yeah these 6 mons are the best so I'm gonna use them" type thing
@@THATSAplusONE then urshifu goes down on turn 2 unless they switch out, which is okay. We can pivot, but opponent will be flustered and tailwind gets stalled.
