Quick Question. I am wanting to LS1 swap my 98 Firebird by finding another donor 98 F-body LS1 car. I was told that it was completely plug and play with no modifications to the wiring harness besides one wire. Is this accurate and would you happen to know which wire that would be?
In this video & how I decided to do my swap is I just wired in my standalone LS1 Harness with the factory v6 car wiring . I have the vehicles factory fuse boxes running the starter , fuel pump and coolant fans . Everything works as a factory ls1 car would with the LS power train !
It sounds like you got lucky, and found a Y87 car right off the bat. Great, but I wouldn't say they won't need a donor car. For one, a lot of the F bodies came with a single shot 7 inch open differential. Finding a donor with rear disc brakes, they also found a positrack rear end! Most came with 3.08 rear gears, but a few came with 3.23 gears! And if you have the 98 Firebird Y87 car,...then you have a Ws6 posi with 3.73 gears! For another, there is still money to be made after you get your parts off of it. Remember, Pontiac went down! So some of these parts will be very valuable. Price a set of Firebird honeycomb tail lights, and you'll see what I mean.
Any chance we could get a step by step how to video on wiring this swap? Ive never done one before and Id like it to go as smoothly as possible as I share space in my garage. Thx!

And what kind of mounts do I need that mount on the Cradle I got the mounts that go on the motor I just need the one to go on the Cradle.
Not sure exactly , I put a tubular k member into this 2000 v6 car . I can only verify 98-02 LS1 car parts will work on a 98-02 v6 body. Wiring and unibody are identical. ( v6 wiring is a tad bit different but both will work together when spliced together ) I have heard that the body is the same for both cars 93-02 but I cannot verify it because I’ve only ever messed with 98-02 cars. If you’re wanting to put a LS engine in any car I would go with all factory 98-02 ls1 parts regardless because that is a car that came with the engine 👍🏼
