5. K (DkGrn/wht) VSS signal 4K pulses per mile
Where’d you find this info I’m doing the same thing to the same car and am trying to wire my standalone into the car already
@@projectmocha3213 I have access to GM service information , I’m a GM tech in training
You will need to use the 3 plugs on passenger strut tower , and the 2 inside firewall . All the wiring needed to connect standalone is in those 5 plugs . I also de pinned and removed all the traction control and things not in use . But I saved the wires w pins in case I want to add inputs later on !
I honestly could make a very in depth video with schematics to help you and others as well completing this swap !
I have also gotten all of the gauges to work
@@KidKevi you on Instagram?
Wow She turned out great ! Good Job man👍🏼
Dang okies taking over lol. Ive been finding them all it seems like. Ive found 3 this week. Proud to see my fellow okies throwing down in the garage and teaching people. Keep it up man you got my sub!
I appreciate the inspiring words! Thanks man , will do ! Doing what I love 🏎🏁
Nice I just got my first car it’s a 95 firebird v6 t-top it has 170,000 miles but will run just fine with a tune up rekon after I dog it out I’m gonna keep it and swap the engine out
Drive it till she blows then slap a LS in there !
97 rs Camaro I got with 105k 3.8 v6
I got a 2002 Camaro Base [rs]. Also got a 2015 SS manual. Some day i am going to swap the gen4 to a v8. Its interior is mint, no rust, perfect car for a swap
Ls swap it 👍🏼🏁🏁🏁
Currently doing the same with my 01 firebird. Was a v6 car but got the engine and transmission pulled. Picking up a 5.3 this week! 👌🏼
Good deal !
Did you have to do any mods under hood to fit v8
I have a 95 firebird formula, what all modifications did you have to do
I just got a 1998 Camaro v6 3.8 can’t wait to put in a 6.0
Needs more subscribers.
Thank you sir , trying to create entertaining content ! 👍🏼🏎🏁
That is an impressive amount of work. I would've sold you my '98 LS1 hardtop/cloth SS clone for $2,000. Has the hood, SLP grille and chrome ZR1 wheels but it was a weird optioned 1SG that has the RS spoiler. Needs a transmission again because I trusted the shop I was dealing with for years and they got sent junk parts from their supplier. I built my own "Liquid Tire Chain" kit (RPO V75 from 1969) out of a Trailblazer washer bottle and pulled 1.7 60's by spraying the tires with TracBite during the burnout because spinning aint winning and I would tend to own everybody on the street out of the hole on junk tires. I am rooting for you.
I just got new tires mounted on some c5 wheels today, but I will tell you that I would burn that 12 year old tire offffff man ! I’m still breaking in the motor and trans so I’ve been trying to take it easy on her haha. Have her on about 20 degrees of advance at WOT, and limiter set pretty low until the synthetic goes in. Then it will be time to party once I instal the 4.10 ring and pinion with a mini spool 🏎🏁
Can I buy it
@@aidenog7380 I just sold it locally for $3k being honest in my listing. Kind of regretting it even though I have a lot of house projects that are more important.
@@spokes5201 I would’ve gave u 3500

An oldie ! 👍🏼🥴😂
ooo heard Oklahoma on the radio, where at? Im in OKC. Doing a turbo 5.3 swap into my 98 SS atm
Moore Area , Glad to Hear
Keep Killin’ it , might see ya out sometime
Damn badass I’m doing an ls swap as well but quick question will my 99 3.8 transmission bolt up to the 5.3?
Theoretically if the trans has a removable bellhousing, you could change it to the LS style and bolt them together but I wouldn’t personally do it. If you want to get down in the car , it needs to be built so it lasts man ! 🏎🏁⛽️
Can you make a Extensive video on what the three plugs on passenger side are and what the wires should go to on a standalone harness
ua-cam.com/video/D6pzakpJRdY/v-deo.html
Dude cleaned under the valley cover but cuts a door for the fuel pump 🫠
Easy access to the pump for the Win!!!!! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
got a 2001 3.8L v6 camaro bout a yr ago and she still running strong , debating on what motor and trans i want to drop in it though once she blows 🤔 great vid btw
Thanks !!!
Ive got a 98 Firebird V6 engine is blown so im just gonna LS swap it. Ive been curious if i get a 98 LS1 harness it should all be plug and play right?
According to what i can find in manuals the body harness is identical across all trims for the year only difference is between the Convertable or Coupe.(Convertible doesnt have door ajar sensors for the headlamp since there is no real roof) im looking at buying an LS1/T56 combo with harness and brake/Clutch pedal assembly right now as well. Just need to get the motor mount adaptors from Hooker if i cant find a K-member before its swappin time.
From my understanding the 98 cars had slight variations in certain areas , mainly the gauges
When you buy a harness it is most likely going to be a 99-02 version , although what I’ve heard and read could be false man , I haven’t swapped a ‘98 car so I can’t give you a definitive answer. Either way I would approach it how I did mine !
I have a question so I got a fourth gen trans am and it had the lt1 I’m doing the 5.3 ls swap ...will the stock 98-02 z28 fuel pump go straight in the lt1 tank?
I do not have a certain answer on that but I am certain the lt1 cars had metal tanks and the 99-02 have a plastic tank. I can’t say for sure man , I have the plastic tank in my car !
Hey man did one of the wires by the wheel well have anything to do with the transmission
Did not mess with any wires by the wheel , only on passenger floorboard and passenger side engine bay
What do I need to do for the fuel lines? got a 98 firebird I want to do this swap in, also what would I need to change to keep the ac i live in Florida so its a necessity
I decided to run a c5 corvette filter with AN6 lines from the feed and return on top the tank , to the vette filter , then One AN6 line from the filter to the fuel rails (LS6 Style).
As for the AC question you’re going to have to either fab the v6 AC to work or go with a z28 style compressor. Episode 4 of this series contains the wiring info to connect the factory v6 AC wiring to the Standalone 👍🏼🏎🏁 Good Luck
let me ask this, is it possible to fit an new LT4/LT5 ls in theses 90s camaros? or would that windshield/cowel need to be removed?
Only one way to find out 🤙🏼
What about the gas pedal, from the electronic to the cable?
I went to my local LKQ Salvage Yard and got a pedal out of a 1995 Chevy lumina. I got the throttle cable from a local hiking place ( mountain bike brake cable ) for FREE.
Hey man! Nice project ! I’ve got a 97 trans am stock 5.7 lt1. About to pick up a full 6.0 pull and just putting her in like that! What mods do I need to do into the engine bay for this setup to work? Thanks in advance!
Only thing that’s necessary is proper mounting locations for the motor mounts on the Ls, I ended up picking up a BMR k member out of a burned down race car, I used the factory 4l60e crossmember and even the stock v6 4l60e driveshaft , I put it together like a z28 !
how were you able to use your v6 wiring harness? I thought you would have to buy a v8 one?
That is a myth , I have done a video on this topic ua-cam.com/video/D6pzakpJRdY/v-deo.html
Do you have to do any mods under hood to fit v8
V8 K member
Gorgeous catfish.. can't wait to swap out my 2002. she's only got 90k on the body.
Thank you ! That’s a good car to start with ⛽️✅
I seen a 98 camaro in my Neigbor hood that would make a great swap!

What k member did you use I have a 2000 camaro with a v6 I want install a 5.3 lm7
98-02 BMR Tubular K member , it’s in the video 🏎🏁👍🏼
What cam is in there?! Sounds great 👍 I'm puttin a stage 2 sloppy from Michigan Motorsports
It is a TSP 212/218 | .550/.550 | 112 LSA
A real mild cam !
Did you put after market tube control arm on or just the stock ones back on?
Factory / replaced the bushings on them
Why did you keep the stock exhaust Manifolds on it? Figured you would do long tubes...
I did . ua-cam.com/video/6DEnodS7sIU/v-deo.html
I swapped my 1997 3.8 to a 2000 ls1, after the engine and tranny and factory harness is installed, would it still need tuning? There are no mods except a intake
Short answer is yes , pcm wil have to be unlocked for use. If a different intake is used than what is factory for that pcm then yes , if the air breather is any different then yes , if the exhaust is not identical to factory then yes , any changes from factory completely change a tune file !
@@KidKevi could that be a reason I’m having transmission issues? (Only reverse and 3rd engage) or would I need to throw my other 4l60 in it to see if it spins all gears?
@@Lsx_Dubb I can’t guarantee you it’s a tune issue , it sounds mechanical or internal to that transmission
earned a sub👍🏽 car came out badass i’m planning on a similar swap but on the 94 fbody maybe one that is already v8 but i want an ls preferably a 6.0 any advice ?
Go Big cam from the jump man , do everything you wanna do , even if it costs a lot. It’s worth it to be One & Done !!
@@KidKevi i need to gather some funds 😭😂 but yea i plan on builder the motor completely before throwing it in just don’t know exactly how everything would work with the ecu that’s what confuses me, like would i be able to run a stock ecu if the platform i’m swapping was already a v8??
@@angelito5.0 A 1994 does not have a LS Style PCM , best bet is to get a 98-02 Z28 computer !
@@KidKevi and that could be a used one coming out of that year z28?

I need some help urgently, I did a 5.3 swap, on a 99 3.8 firebird, used all LS1 accessories and the stuff It needs. We wired the passenger side fuel injectors over to the ECM power fuse. The thing cranks over but it won't start. I don't know what the deal is. The fuel pump has been swapped with a LS1 walboro pump. It primes when I turn the key on, but no start. Did You have any problems getting yours to start up right after the swap?
No , I wired it one time and have never had an issue since , you mention wiring the injectors to the ecm fuse , the standalone I purchased had all of the injector wiring finished , so I’m not sure what your issue is man , I’d check spark and fuel , double check crank sensor is working properly. Definitely scan for any dtc you may be gettin ! I will say if you have a Manual Trans pcm , trying to run an AT , you can run into issues with that !
ua-cam.com/video/D6pzakpJRdY/v-deo.html
What harmonic balancer pulley did you use ?
The Summit Racing 25% Under Drive Pulley , had the doorman factory 98-02 camaro pulley on but she gave out pretty fast , complete junk
I have a 2002 v6 convertible. Wanting to do a ls swap. Is the subframe for v8 different if camaro is a convertible.
I am not 100% sure but if it’s a v8 k member I’d imagine they are the same
What belt did you use
52.1” with my 25% underdrive pulley from summit I have on it now , can’t remember what it was with the factory harmonic dampener. I believe it may have been 3 inches longer but can’t guarantee it. That is with no ac or power steering pump
I have a 99 camaro..I'm wondering what will it take to go from 3.6 v6 to 5.7 v8
Alot more than I can type in a single comment man , watch all of the F body swap videos on my channel and if you have any more questions feel free to email me at EPTokc@gmail.com
So I have a stupid question what did you do with the brake booster are you deleting it?
No I kept the factory booster
If you're puttin a Corvette 5.7 in a 2000 z28 do u still have to change motor mounts?
Same engine 👍🏼 assuming camaro has ls1 K member
@@KidKevi what about having to change wiring harness,no need to right?
@@PoppaSmurf3054 longblock swap is plug and play
What cross member mount for the engine did you use?
I used a bmr tubular K member , bmr solid motor mounts , and factory trans cross member w an energy poly mount
@@KidKevi Thank you! I just got a 94 Camaro, and plan on putting a 5.3 in it, and was wondering what mount I should use!
where comes from the transmission ??
that's not a 4L60E right ?
It is a 4l60e
How does it takes you to plug in all.the wires?
Huh ?
@KidKevi sorry. How long does it takes to plug in all the wiring?
@@Chewie374 As long as it takes you based on your skill level man , not really a set time due to the fact each cad will have its own querks, issues etc !
Nice where can I find the LS Motor for a good price I have the same car and want to do the same
Lkq Online if you want a warranty
Hey guys so an original ls1 would be a little easier to install? And why 5.3? I know theyr good and almost have the same power as 5.7 and maybe even cheaper
Well yes and no. The blocks are pretty much identical on the outside ( there are differences) but the main thing is you need a F body Oil pan , Ls1 Intake manifold , alternator , etc for it to fit in the car like a factory Z28 or SS car , and I’m talking about a 5.3L.
I slowly built this 5.3L and originally intended on putting it in my 06 Cts , but at the last second I decided To throw it in my T top F body .
I decided to get a tubular K member , new v8 fuel pump , Standalone LS1 harness , and if using a Silverado 4l60e you have to swap out the tail housing for the torque arm
Little things like that but to answer your question , my 5.3 with a baby tsp cam has the same amount of power as a ls2 with headers and good tune !
Meaning I have way more power than a factory 4th Gen 😂 but I am going to go bigger cam very soon with a good set of dual springs and bump it up as much as possible. Many things had to be bought to get this car exactly how I wanted it and I’m still purchasing and adding stuff as we speak!
@@KidKevi do you have to swap tail housing for torque arm if you get a tunnel mounted arm?
@@connorwhitaker8068 if you’re not bolting the torque arm to the transmission I do not see why you would need to
Iron block is stronger and to find a 346 is as rare as finding a 4.8, 6.0,
Man is this really hard to do ..to swap a 3800 out of a 99 bird and put an LS 5.3 in it ??
It definitely isn’t easy , if it was easy everybody would do it !
How much would you say this cost total I'm looking forward to something like this
I’d say 7500 to get it driving but mine was a long ways from exactly how I wanted it with just that. The bright side was that at least I had a running and driving 4th Gen , with a completely brand new powertrain.
Most camaros with like 150-185k miles are selling for 7-9k with a lot of mods but that is someone’s used race car so who the hell wants to pay that for some ragged out problem you decide to take on for 7-9k like I said 👍🏼
@@KidKevi that’s on the High side
I just bought a base model v6 for 600 and a l33 full swap for 900
@@connorwhitaker8068 Had to Re do entire car and I built the engine from the block Up
Do you have to box the frame for the swap or are they from the factory like that
What are you referring to ?
Are the v6 frames like the ss frames
Meaning are the v6s like from factory there frame boxed or there not boxed
Like is there a difference like the older f body’s from the 70s where if you didn’t have a v8 car you would have to box them for the higher horsepower v8s
Like I’m just asking because I’m thinking of getting one like what you have done and doing the same thing just with like a ls3 and something of that nature
How much does it cost for the entire swap or ball park figure
Around 7500 to get it driving but missing a lot of good things 10K for a sweet ass camaro 👍🏼🤙🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@KidKevi i figured it would be 10k. Thanks bro
@@titusdixon2758 it is , but you have a brand new car with brand new everything, also happens to be a LS race car haha !
Can I use a ls k member on a lm7?
Yes I used a Lr4 block in this video , same thing
@@KidKevi awsome thankyou sir
Roughly how much did this build cost just bought a 02 firebird v6 for 600$ also bought a 5.3ls with a 4l80e for 500$
Basically to get it from being a bare bones roller with completely ruined wiring through the car , having a bare 4.8 block , and a 4l60e core . Doing fuel pump , re wiring it , tubular K member , etc , the cost was around $7,000.00 total. Now currently after suspension upgrade and tons of other things I’d say I’m 10 in it. But around 7k got me from it being a few bare parts to driving down the road. Now was it a nice ride , no. Did I have fun in it, yes. Now where I’m at with it , I’m extremely happy with the car but recently 1st went out in my 4l60e , video coming soon on the rebuild ( shade tree mechanic got me ) 🏎🏁🏁🏁
I did however , rebuild the engine in a budget oriented way but it turned out to be way more than I originally planned because bolts were missing , I went with all new gaskets , the whole nine
@kidkevi do you live in cali? Can i pay you to swap my camaro same year?
I live in Oklahoma buddy , I definitely could but we are far away !
@@KidKevi 😞

@@dallasabbott8112 can shoot an email over to EPTOKC@gmail.com for a quote , in the email be sure to list what vehicle you would like to have swapped , and also any parts you may have for the swap already
how many hours/weeks in total did it take you to do the ls swap?
2 months and 29 days is the amount it took to get it driving , was it finished , no. That figure is about 70% of the weeks time devoted to the car , I had a life during the process. I spent most of it working on that car tho ! lol
It was in very bad shape when I got it, sat in a field for 5-6 years and wiring was completely destroyed , interior was trashed and entire suspension was shot ! Ole V6 car lol
@@KidKevi for starters, i appreciate the response! i’m looking to do the same to mine and. i traded a c4 in crappy condition for my 2002 35th anniversary camaro with the 5-speed. i love the car but the ls is what i really want. since mine falls into 99-02 is everything pretty much plug and play? and also what was the total cost of the swap after getting it on the road?
@@Dbo9078 my videos will be a great resource for your swap , in total I believe it took $7,000.00,to take the roller with trashed wiring , trashed V6 suspension and then build my 4.8 block from the ground up to what it is now , also purchased a built 4l60e for around 1300 in all. In total now I have about 10k in it and it’s super nice and reliable , build should last a lifetime. I still lack posi rear end the nice upgraded suspension goodies ( Besides Koni sport shocks and umi lowering springs , I already have that on the car.)
If you were going to do all that you made as well as painted the engine bay
I painted a few spots that were rusted really bad , sanded it down and sprayed it with aluminum engine paint , worked well
