Glagolitic chant is the old Croatian traditional liturgical singing. The name derives from the Croatian Glagolitic alphabet that was used from the 9th until the 19th century.
Ritual Glagolitic books contains no music manuscripts, so it is hard to say much about how it was in the beginning. Through oral tradition it has been preserved in a somewhat changed form. From today's perspective Glagolitic singing is simpler than Gregorian chant. The melody follows the structure of the spoken word. This is part-singing music, sometimes heterophonic. Intonation is often untimed. The influence of Gregorian chant is characterised by the need to adapt foreign, Latin chant to the Croatian language. The beauty of Glagolitic singing has grown from the Christian tradition of western music and the unique Croatian folk singing.
It represents an extraordinary Croatian phenomenon that has always attracted the attention of local and international musicians. Glagolitic chant today can be heard only in Vrbnik, a little town on the island Krk where this tradition is still alive.
This is the only recording ever made of this tradition.

It is definetly not the last
And that one is not glagolitic completely.

This is not Glagolitic mass. The Glagolitic mass is identical to Tridentine Latin mass apart from the language. The priest is obviously facing the people here just like Novus Ordo.

Real 'Glagolitic mass' is just Orthodox divine liturgy. The latin church suppressed slavic traditions for 1000 years, this is simply a modern innovation.

@@davidvasilios2760 Among Roman Catholics in Dalmatia, Istria and Adriatic islands West (Roman) rite in Church Slavonic language was quite usual through the centuries, actually entire second millenia AD. Indeed, Church Slavonic was the only language tolerated in Roman rite besides Latin, but only in Adriatic regions of present day Croatia and partially around Trieste. You don't have to know that, but also it's not correct to comment things without basic knowledge about it. Greetings from Dalmatia!

mmm what is so wrong about it? yeah it's not a purely glagolitic mass actually, but nothing is set in stone as you know it...

Vincent Moon Faith is set in stone. This is not Glagolitic Mass period, only singing is Glagolitic. It’s Novus Ordo mass with communion in hand abuse.

@@Mr.mallaer i am very sorry, but this is not faith you are talking about, but religion. and even religion is not set in stone - things have been moving along the years and millenia, it's quite easy to find out about this reading any book on the history of faith in humankind. don't get me wrong here - true i made a mistake with the name of this film, but it's how local people presented me their celebration. i changed informations as much as i could. but i am just not understanding what's your point there - and i don't see towards what such people are abusing. lots of light your way anyway dear Mil. and thanks for the corrections.

Vincent Moon Christianity is a religion. Since they have started receiving communion in hand in the States, 2/3 Catholics no longer believe infallible teaching of the Church that Eucharist is the true body and blood of Jesus Christ under the appearance of bread and wine. Now I have started to see this abuse spreading in Croatia. So sad. I was looking forward to watching authentic Glagolitic mass and was so disappointed by this modernist Frankenstein monster.

Kromě toho že spívají falešně připomíná mi to ožralce z nějaké hospody. A samozřejmě jsou neschopní přečíst alespoň jeden řádek napsaný hlaholici.
