    We need some more videos in this series! I'm currently building a big set of ruins that are mostly cardboard. Doing some detailing with foam core and coffee stir sticks. Just picked up a new size of big cardboard tubes I got from a dumpster at a friend's job. Going to use them and some of the tubes I get a work to make some towers, ruined towers, and some stand along buildings. Everything I'm making right now is meant to be modular so that it can all be used together and in loads of configurations. Thank you for these videos. I love the inspiration they have given me.

    A little tip use wood tooth picks in your columns it will make your tall thin columns more stable

      Honestly it's a great shout. A lack of central support makes them brittle.

    These came out surprisingly well for regular foam! Well done as usual!

    I’m enjoying watching your videos on July 4th here in California. Can’t think of a better way of enjoying a day off of work to sit down and watch your videos. Really!! enjoy watching them. Thanks for sharing. And I’ll keep watching your videos and maybe pick up some pointers. 👍👍

    This is brilliant. I have never made anything and you inspire both myself and my daughter (9) to try it out. Also, the lack of specific measurements encourages both inspiration and the free at heart. May you hit 100k subscribers before the year end!

    Hellooooo JH! I love that you utilize material that most people snub. My skill level has definitely improved through your influence. Until the vid-19 takes us all out, I’ll stay Wasted!

    You can always reinforce the taller pillars with a wooden skewer to add stability

    I'm not gonna lie, I went from "Oh yea, I can definitely do this" to "Oh, you're painting it for a third time?.. I guess it looks cool now." To "What the hell am I getting myself into?". Looks great, but man do I need more skill / experience.. haha

    I strongly believe this kind of tutorial are really bad for the hobby. You cannot suggest to use a bad material like expanded polystyrene instead of the much better extruded polystyrene, the second is not espensive at all and the aesthetic improvement is like night and day. You did a good job but you used very bad materials for the base too, do yourself a favor and invest a couple of bucks in high quality material.

    • @jhminiatures7867
      @jhminiatures7867  2 роки тому +10

      And that's fair enough :-) but I disagree. You can do a lot with basic or bad materials, and resource limitations should never get in the way of creativity.

      The main reason my daughter is so crazy about these videos is because she gets to take her simple craft materials and put them to use. No one else does this.

    • @stevef38
      @stevef38 2 роки тому +3

      I find that finding XPS very difficult without ordering from specialist trade sites.
      This type of craft brings more people to the hobby as the materials are readily available,in most cases free from packaging. Stop being so elitist about materials. The cardboard house on a previous video is better than some foam one's I've seen.

    • @sareth90
      @sareth90 2 роки тому

      @@stevef38 Is difficult to find because you do not know where to find it. You can easily find it in any building material store. I'm not being elitist, I love to use common use materials you usually throw away, but EPS is very aesthetically unpleasant, with the balls effect it has... Also I talk by experience that's the whole meaning of the post, a newbie want to know the best way to build a cool looking scenic, not some garbage they would be dissatisfied with once they finish it..
