My favorite clip of Peter, Micky, and Davy. So sad that we've lost Peter, Davy, and Mike, but it's great that we can watch them on UA-cam and remember all their songs and the fun we had watching them have fun.

I totally adore all of the Monkees, but my fave was Micky. He is so cool. A little bit crazy, but still cool. I also love Mike. He was really good as somewhat the leader of the group. There is one video on UA-cam of the song, “Papa Gene’s Blues”. Right at the end, Mike is singing lead and looks at the camera and winks. OMG!!!

This song never gets old. Mike was and is my favorite but all four were n r talented and deserved better than what they have gotten.
I dunno. Ups and downs for sure, but all four of them have gone on the record as saying they enjoyed their successes and wouldn't have changed a thing.
They undeservedly went down in music history as a phony band

Their name, I think--and the fact that they were on a G-rated comedy the whole "family" could watch, I'm afraid caused them to be underrated. I'm thankful for their positive influence. Hey Hollywood--can you get a hint?? It's time to put on another G-rated show that's suitable for everybody--and still has excellent talent, comedy, (and even some drama, as I remember)--and fantastic songs. If they were called the "Dark Edges" and were on an R-rated show, they'd probably have gotten more respect--and attention for their talent. But that's okay.... Apparently it hasn't diminished much. The 12 city tour they are doing, most of the venues are already sold out. I think that is wonderful that a lot of people still love these guys (myself included) and their music.

On this day in 1966 {December 17th} the Monkees performed "I'm A Believer" on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'...
Two weeks earlier on December 4th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; and on Christmas Day 1966 it peaked at #1 {for 7 weeks} and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100 {which means almost 50% of the time it was on the chart it was at #1}...
They also performed the record's B-side, "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone", and it also made the Top 100 at position #20...

It's Tali I was really sad to here about the passing of Peter Tork. Ye and I am all so sad that Davy Jones is not with us any more he was my favorite Monkee he had such a great voice and he sang all the romentice songs 🎶

This song was written by Neil Diamond - - before he made it really big as a singer. He was a song-writer at Tin Pan Alley in NYC.
Michael Nesmith did not rejoin The Monkees when they came back together in the 80's. His mother invented "Liquid Paper" and sold it to Gillette in 1979 for $47.5 million, of which Mike inherited. "I'm a Believer" was the biggest selling hit in all of 1967. It sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. Due to advance orders it went gold in 2 days after being released, and stayed #1 for 7 weeks. Mike now has a net worth of $50 million, Micky is at $7 million and Peter is at $4 million. Still very cool and having fun in their 70's.
Mike was talented but he was the spoiled one.
Milton Williams Mike did appear with the other three Monkees at least three times in the 80s, so he wasn’t completely absent from the group. He performed with them at an encore of their LA show in ‘86, filmed a Christmas video for MTV with them that same year, and did a full concert with them in ‘89.

They had better looks at this age than when they were younger. Davey's and Peter's longer hair and retro-appearance : they looked better as more mature men. Mickey always looked and acted zany. He can play it up good. It is his talent.

I think they were in their late 30s here, not 40s. Four extremely likable guys (well, three here). And yes, I never understood why Davy held on to the mullet for soooo long.
