My wife is a professional percussionist and educator. One of her former students is a well known professional percussionist who has toured internationally with many high profile rock/pop bands and solo artists. He told us a few years ago that is not uncommon for well known singers “playing” tambourines on stage with the jingles taped so the instrument is totally silent.

I have seen video of Mr. Tork doing his music in the early 80's before the Monkee's reunion and how he does not get the full credit he deserved is beyond me. I know he gets some but it seems like yea, MICKY!!! MICHAEL!!! DAVY!!!! and oh yea... Peter.... Just look at this video and he is able to more or less keep up with Micky in the humor department. I can't remember if it was Mike or Micky who commented something like, Nothing fake about our boy Peter! Just the best. I know Micky does everything possible to give him the credit by saying how talented Peter was and plays like a ton of instruments and the instrument had not been invented he didn't know how to play

I’ve watched several TV appearances and they always play Stepin’ Stone

I remember when they originally formed the band for the TV show. The garage band down the street practiced "Steppin' Stone" nearly every day. ❤

Man I just stumbled across this amazing piece of footage I was eight years old maybe nine when the monkeys first came on TV and I wanted to be a drummer like Mickey played drums for a few years but when I saw Jimi Hendrix open for the monkeys in like 69 at an amusement park in Jupiter Florida I was like spellbound from this guy playing a guitar left-handed sorry I love you monkeys and always will but Jimmy stole my heart that day

How could you not love them. I'm devastated by the loss of 3. My Davy was my handsome dream boat. Forever!

I saw them in 96' my girlfriend loved Peter I liked Davy growing up. I have to say Peter was a doll in person. The Turtles were also playing great concert. It's hard to believe Davy Mike and Peter are gone and Micky is still touring. I was starting Jr High when the Monkees show started seems like yesterday

Micky Dolenz was always my favorite Monkee by far!!!! I had a crush on him since the 1960s when I was a young girl.
