- In this video, I want to talk about the current seasons of Fortnite and explain why I think it’s better than the extremely nostalgic Chapter 1

For me chapter one has to be my favorite as its the only chapter that i didnt find any season bad and c5 isnt complete yet. Also imo the lootpool back then was godlike although that is mainly because im a deagle glazer (and yes i heard its coming back) and im not a huge fan of the mods. All the new things that are added are cool but it was the same for c1 and the c1 mid season updates were all ws in my opinion

I think that Fortnite OG 2 should be Chapter 6, 4 seasons long, but rather than trying to capture OG merge the map with the new mechanics, like capture points, the island, mods, etc.
Relating to nostalgia blindness, I find it funny that ThunderBuddy29 says that he is not nostalgia blind yet he puts exclusively chapter 1 season 2 and 3 in S tier on a tier list.

at least if you put other chapter 1 seasons or maybe a few later seasons, then maybe you could say you just like chapter 1, but when you put only the first few seasons of chapter 1 exclusively you cant claim you arent nostalgia blind
It literally got proved that it’s not nostalgia blindness when og fortnite came out. It was the best fortnite ever was. Which got proved when everyone loved the game for a full month. If it was nostalgia blindness, people would’ve realised it wasn’t good at some point in the month.
I'm in a middle point honestly, I love the new mechanics epic adds but I do believe the game plays better when it is simple.

Brother was 7 years old when Fortnite came out
During Chapter 2, the biggest criticism was that the loot pool wasn't creative or chaotic enough. And for the past 2 Chapters we've had crazy mythics each season, and now people are complaining about any item that isn't a gun.
i dont think chapter one was better, but i do think the way epic handled the game was better. There were multiple mid season new items that had whole cinematic trailers for them, for example, the chug jug, it was introduced in the middle of a season (dont remember which one) and got a cinematic trailer for it, even though it was only a few seconds long, it was still a cinematic trailer, now, we'd be lucky to get a gameplay trailer of a new item in the middle of the season. Theres also the thing of leakers spoiling everything thats meant to be a surprise, like the hand at the end of last season and the midas event this season.
Okay I started in season 7 and I prefer chapter 2 over chapter 1 but season og was so much fun, not cuz it’s the old map but it was simple, less features, no mythics and shields and ledgendaries felt harder to get and all the locations felt different and the lootpool was great and winning felt more rewarding because the game felt harder

I agree with you so much bro cuz i feel like some people will call anything that’s not chapter 1 mid. I especially hate when their only excuse is that it’s not the same anymore. The whole point of a season/chapter change is for it to be a different experience than the last one.
Before anyone mentions it, I started playing in og season four.
The whole Chapter 1 community just misses life pre-quarantine, or even worse, life before they became adults. It's nostalgia in its worst form: nostalgia for your childhood, when life was simpler.
Especially when they start talking about the good updates or map changes or whatever

are you stupid? How can I be blinded by nostalgia when I enjoyed season OG not because of the nostalgia since it wore off on the first week, but because it was actually fun.
Kinda disagree on the community part, even back in ch1 some people already missed the og seasons (s1-2). Furthermore the community back then was EXTREMELY toxic over exclusivity, people were crying when skull trooper returned a year after its release, some went far enough to threaten people who bought “OG” skins.
Ch1 community was definitely very toxic and “dead game” comments already existed back then on twitter (small reminder that just like nowadays the toxic part is just a very loud minority of the community)
Nowadays its definitely a lot better, exclusivity debates have calmed down by a lot and unless battlepasses skins would be sold in the shop i doubt any major toxicity is coming from it and furthermore season OG also calmed down the bring back og fortnite complaints
Lastly a lot of older players have started to return since season OG and ch5 along with brand new players and fortnite haters who finally grew out of their childish hate for the game and that part of the community is genuinely so nice and fun
@@banned2911 what I mean by community is back in chapter 1, whenever something big was happening it felt so much more hype, whereas now a new season is popular for about a week and then the hype dies down and it just feels like any other update.

It's not just fortnite, but it seems many of these long lasting games fanbases are filled to the brim with nostalgia junkies. Just look at minecraft, sure not every modern update is a smash hit; but they've finally added stuff the community has been requesting for years upon years like autocrafting, wolf breads, and a dungeon structure that you can loot many times over. All of this, and yet there's a huge push saying that beta minecraft is the objectively superior version.
I’m 15 turning 16 next month. I used to be a CH1 lover and after OG left I was mad but then I played CH5 and bought the battle pass for 1 EMOTE and then I maxed it out because I was enjoying myself unlike with Apex Legends (which I was currently playing at the time)
Get a PC and play project era and you might reconsider your opinion

in project era half the lobby is dead in the first minute in midgame there is nothing to do and good luck finding 1 other person so you have to wait for 10 minutes, early game is either complete rng or you will encounter 0 people all game depending where you land because the whole lobby lands at like 3 locations, also the lack of sprinting sucks and makes looting slow and early game rng as a result and also makes it a chore to rotate anywhere, and there is no sbmm at all or ranked or zero build or team modes (there technically is team modes but good luck getting a lobby)
literally the only thing better about project era is the performance because its running on a 6 year old version of the game but thats it

Thank you! I really don't know why people are saying the Thunderbolt is broken, also they said it got nerfed but it still goes through walls for me, sometimes they don't though. I started in Chapter 3 and I really enjoyed OG, I think there's more to it than nostalgia and it being simple, though Fortnite should keep innovating and making cool stuff because as you said, this season is PEAK

@@Dork_000 Does it matter? Watched videos on it and people seem to be having more fun than they do now. The fact that there are other people like me who havent played chapter 1 and still prefer the simple Fortnite means that its not all nostalgia.
I think that season Og was probably better than season one in terms of quality, and if epic does the thing that they said the would (implementing Og as a gamemode) then I would think that most people would be satisfied. Minus the (cough cough) X users. I feel like the new seasons are fine, but I really enjoyed the old map and some of the OG items, the POI’s just had a more nostalgic feel to it, and I didn’t really play well in season OG since I started in season OG, so I want to try my better skill set now in the old style. It might even be more casual, who knows? But I do hope they implement the gamemode soon, and not in (3-5 buisness days.)

I never played Fortnite until chapter 2 season 7. Season OG was still much better than modern seasons

Okay, so when people refer to OG Fortnite they usually mean season 1-3. Did y’all forget about season 5-8? Personally, I think those seasons were actually peaked because the amount of weapons you had were decent. The problem I had with other chapter is that most of the weapons were either boring, or completely utter garbage. You only had few weapons that were somewhat viable. Season 5-8 had so much variety of weapons, and items. You had plenty of AR, SMG, snipers, shotguns, and pistols. Now was it completely perfect? No, it definitely had some problems but it was at least better than getting a auto shotgun
Mobility was even better since you had so much items/vehicle to choose from, like baller, planes, hoverboard, cannons, etc.
Season 5-8 map is still better because the amount great POI you can go (plus it’s way more memorable).
As of now I don’t think this chapter (and season) is bad. If anything it’s actually enjoyable, and way more fun than those other chapters (besides OG Fortnite). I love how the fact that Epic finally brought back the floor is lava. That game is still enjoyable, although I prefer the old weapons, however the new weapons are actually decently fun. I really don’t get why the older players hate them

i don’t think it’s an objective fact that EVERYONE who likes older seasons are blinded by nostalgia. people often say “you just miss the time that season happened in, and the people who played with you.” if that were true, the og season a few months ago would not have been such a massive success. while yes, the new content is fun and exciting, it is NOT for everyone. a lot of people like simple loot pools, and simple gameplay overall. while it may seem boring to you, it is more fun for others.
I've just started going through your videos and I am really enjoying them! Regarding the video topic, It's true. Nostalgia, no matter the game, is a strong factor and the community will always get affected by it when a game starts to be x years old (usually from 4-5 years old). Also, if I may, I would love if the music in the videos was just a bit lower in volume, because sometimes the music ooverlaps too much with your voice and it kinda gets difficult to hear what you're saying. Aside from this, funny videos and nice editing! Keep on going!

I love your content but I think that ch1 was more boxed and fights were closer and fast while now they can be drawn out because of the new weapons and items. This could happen in ch1 with rifts but that was more of an escape thing and more rare. Also traps should be brought back

For me, i like og only because graphics, and the sound of the shots. That’s it but this new season is really good. Really fun and i get to see aang do the gritty.
I am not nostalgic for chapter 1. I never played until Zero Build (Chapter 3). I loved OG in spite of never playing on that map before. I'm going to say it... Simple. It was more basic, more simple. I loved that they got rid of those pesky augments. I loved that not everyone walked around with full shield and the ability to instantly heal like in Chapter 4 Season 4. In OG, I never had to worry about people walking around with NPCs that throw grenades everywhere, or scan me. And I hate hiring NPCs because all they do is grief themselves or grief my cover. And never hire an NPC in Builds, they will pickaxe your walls when you box up! No NPCs, no augments, and no mods. The thing that made Chapter 5 Season 1 suck so bad were the limited mod benches. Each of those locations was highly contested, and the NPCs were OP to deal with, and never start a fight with the NPCs because that rats would come out of the wood work to 3rd party you. And if I tried to rat, I'd be there for so long storm would come. So by the time I took the POI, got the keycard, got to the mod bench, I was already taking storm damage. By the time I got my weapons modded, and finally got out of storm, I'd always be down to the last 10 to 12 players, the match was mostly over. Thus Chapter 1 felt like 90% of the game was trying to get those stupid mod benches. And if you ignore the mod benches, well then you have crap weapons. Like, you either had a green AR with the right scope, or a gold AR with the wrong scope, you never had the equipment you wanted to actually use. This season isn't so bad. But there is really something to be said for the simplicity of OG. Now with that being said, I'd probably be bored of OG if we were still stuck in that season. But for the month that it was around, it was a breath of fresh air.
My favorite chapter is 2, it gave a fresh start to the game and to be honest, I liked all the jingles that where there every 5 seconds

OG Fortnite is simple but perfect and I truly believe bringing it back as a separate game mode would be better than any upcoming chapter 5 season... (This is coming from a guy that hates chapter 5 btw)

Chapter one’s map was the best map but it had the worst gameplay. The OG season we had not long ago was the perfect blend between a great map and modern gameplay. Chapter 5 season 2 is the BEST Fortnite season in recent memory

i disagree completely, yes you may think the new gameplay is fun and the old is boring in your opnion but you are putting it all across as objective. The old gameplay was more slow but it made fights tense and scary and had a much more last man standing atmosphere than just running around getting kills. I dont think new is bad, just you saying the old is bad is just wrong

Exactly especially when he said season OG was bad. As someone who started playing in chapter 3 and got into the game In chapter 4, season OG is either my first or second favorite season of all time (this one is 2nd or 1st as well)
I think chapter 1 had better events, better quests, and a better map, but the mechanics weren't as good and the newer movement is way better. Also the old battlepasses were better and the game's art style had a real identity.

Started chapter 2 season 1, these seasons are more fun, innovation is the thing keeping this game alive, along with a bunch of others. These new items give it fresh ideas. I'm a comp player, so I was apart of the reason that the bolt was nerfed (thank god), but for me, new items and ideas to see how I can best my opponents is the best way I play the game, OG was simple, which makes it boring when you add in all the overstimulation that being a "sweat" has.
See season og was fun for like 2 to 3 weeks then I just kind of got bored of it
2-3 weeks is good enough, most season hype doesn't last a week in 2023/2024.
no build changed a lot, the option to play games where there isnt a single person who is really good at building and can stomp the game was huge.
building, it being the thing that made fortnite stand out, eventually made the game pretty unfun for anybody who is not as good as the guy who invested way too much time into building.
I feel a bit overwhelmed sometimes, the simplicity of OG was easier to comprehend, but besides that this season is pretty good

Ch3 season 1 was great but nowhere near ch1 s4- ch2 s4 obviously with exceptions of season 9, x and ch2 s1
not saying this season sucks in any way its significantly better than last season. but there was so many things that epic could of done to make this season better at the start. for examples the locations of the mythic poi's they are too clustered together and they make certain parts of the map feel boring since everyone lands at the new poi's compared to last season when the mythics were more spread out, this season it feels like pois like snooty, fencing, lavish, reckless are boring now because no one lands there because they dont have a mythic anymore. i love the addition of the bunkers they are unique and make fighting for them worth it but they are spread out to the edge of the map which sucks since you have to risk half of your heals now because the closest bunker to you spawned in storm or will be in storm by the time it opens. now the weapons tbh i like them they did aa good job on them, the harbinger smg is better than the hyper smg and feels more like the og smg, the warforged ar is better than the striker, and the dmr is now good now with the recent changes and the nerf to snipers, and the gatekeeper shotgun is good as well feels like a better tac but with the auto still in and in its current state it outclasses the gatekeeper. imo the auto should of been vaulted day 1 of the season to make way for the gatekeeper. but in all honest i would prefer the og lootpool more over this one but with new weapon additions added at the beginning of the season and throughout the season, since now its basically "new" weapon that has the exact same feel and function as an old weapon but slightly altered cough the hammer pump cough.

as a person who played Ch1 S5 and QUIT bc i was BORED and came back ch4 s1 and LOVED the game mainly because no build i just wanna say new seasons 100% better bc more stuff to do more pois etc i didnt even care abt ch1 also i agree with the meta thign bc in fortnite i love my off meta hand cannon X chains of hades xD i love pullign in ppl then hand cannon then slashing ppl (i kill like no one but its still fun)
While the map from chapter 1 season 3 is my favourite map and I had the most fun with the game in season 1-5 I 100 percent think the gameplay is better now and it is a better game now anyone who says otherwise is just blinded by nostalgia

Honestly I love new fortnite, the game is fun and the attachments make the game more diverse in playstyles, as well as the cool mythics, like zeus' thunderbolt, wings of icarus and the chains of hades (absolute GOAT). I still prefer OG just because it's more simple where you, loot up, kill players and win. This is why I think that OG should be a permanent mode, you can switch between both games. OG is just more simple and feels more like an equal playing ground imo. New Fortnite is more for those who like more complex and high risk high reward games. With medallions giving you different abilities it can be more fun for those who like more wacky playstyles. OG fortnite is a lot simpler and a lot more straight forward. You are mainly limited by your skill and not what you are carrying, with new fortnite I believe its the other way around.

I loved season OG but i really doubt i would have liked it so much if it was 3 months without a pretty big map change every week, people who use season OG as a reason to proof that OG fortnite was really fun are a little (sorry) stupid because they just had a lot of old content to throw at us. Trust me ch1 was fun and it definitely had some great seasons but there is no way you can call s1-3 better than what we have now, not that those seasons were bad, they were fun especially for their time but if we got them back they really wouldnt feel as fun.

That is an opinion, you are entitled to it. Some people do not like the current gameplay, you can't change their minds because its subjective. Taste is never ever objective.
7:51 I agree but at the same time ch1 was better it wasn’t even the simplicity of it. I think I can summarize exactly what everyone is feeling. When you were in a top 5 situation in chapter 1 you would literally be shaking whereas now, winning is getting stale and repetitive, the game is too easy in pubs with all the bots. Literally half the lobby is bots.
Personally, I do love Fortnite now. I still laugh with my friends after I run him over with a car and he goes flying1000 meters across the map. But there’s something I just miss about OG Fortnite, can’t really explain but I had no worries, maybe I am just blinded by nostalgia.

I started in Chapter 3(vibing season), so I have no og nostalgia for old Fortnite. I found the OG season to be the second worst season I've played besides vibing. It was clunky and felt instantly outdated.

My issue with modern fortnite is it feels too easy and same in every match. U pretty much get handed any weapon of your choosing off spawn. If you play pubs your getting 80-50% bot lobbies and if u play ranked u r pretty much playing against the exact same people every game. In og fortnite there were no bots and no sbmm so you were just as likely to go against the best player in the world and someone who tries corner camping with a pump but misses anyways all the new mythics look cool on paper but i would much rather just play the games where those type of weapons belong than a builder shooter

Gameplay is very objective, you can’t say it’s factual people might prefer chapter 1s gameplay, people may prefer ltms like 50v50, or disco domination or something like that. I will say I prefer chapter 1 purely based on fun factor i had the most fun, same with Og in fact I had the most playtime with og last year. I like chapter 5 but there’s just that cartoony charm

I think the second half of chapter 1 was better than the first because that’s when it started innovating the game and making it more wacky and fun. The game being too simple just makes it feel underwhelming for the community except the ogs. Like as much as I enjoyed the og season I can’t deny in some cases it was kinda bland. Ye it was fun having all the og items back, but it didn’t really innovate the game in any way, they were just recycling stuff that happened in the first chapter. It felt predictable. People need to understand nothing stays the same forever. Things change. I’m not saying chapter 1 is bad in any way I’m just saying that the newer chapters just makes the game feel fresh and innovative instead of just staying in the same spot forever.(chapter 1 player btw)
the people who think chapter 1 was better than anything else like to say "it was SIMPLE!!!!!" and the thing is simplicity doesnt somehow make something automatically good, if the game stayed the same and just really simple forever it would get boring, the new stuff makes it more fun and interesting and replayable because it adds more variety to the gameplay
this simple=better idea comes from nostalgia or from players refusing to adapt to a game that has changed and thinking its the games fault, and i was one of those people, during c2-4 i always thought how the game has gotten too complicated and hard to get used to, whenever i would occasionally play it with someone, but then the og season brought me back, but i stayed for chapter 5 and eventually i got familliar with the game and it was still fun
and i dont think the simplicity is the main thing that made chapter 1 good
also the game isnt even that complicated now, if you play for some time its not that hard to get used to it

@@jerryishairyandscarythere were fun pois like reckless railways and Ruined reels. Not to mention we had a train. Also TMNT collab was amazing. Loot pool wasn’t horrible(I loved the grapple blade and Striker AR, but hated the frenzy auto), and yeah, it got boring near the end after the TMNT collab ended but it was still a great season

Imma be honest: i held this sentiment for a long time. I do think ch2s2 is the best season of all time, and most of my fav seasons r post ch1, but going back to OG i realized how good the og fortnite was. The weapons, the map, the pois, the hype. Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 have been mid so far. If we were in chapter 3 or especially chapter 2, id def agree, but chapter 5 greater than chapter 1? As of now, not a chance imo

OG was the purest definition of nostalgia bate out there they got us all hyped for like a zero story and in my opinion an absolutely awful live event compared to the past one’s and the “old locations” they brought back were the most water down versions of them like were you guys really excited about getting half of polar peak without the you know actual castle part 😂😂
Im getting back into fortnite chaoter 5 season 2 after being gone since og season 5. I dont like all of the "quality of life" crap that they have added. Sbmm is bad. Period. Dont call people who dont want to dweat pathetic. Theres two sides to every game. The casual side, and the competitive side. Let them be separated instead of meshed together every single game in the modern age. Fortnite is fun af this season dont get me wrong, but simplicity is better... period
I feel like newgens are like dogs chasing their own tail every time they bring up the “blinded by nostalgia” argument. Like who cares? It’s all subjective when talking about Fortnite’s “peak”. Just enjoy yourself and the game and not try to engage with people who want to live in the past.

I think the take on OG breaks down for me. But I can prove your point another way. Because I agree but I think of it differently. It’s not that OG boring, Ch5S2 not boring.
To me “modern Fortnite” means Unreal Engine 5. OG is just a classic skin layer on top of “modern Fortnite”
It’s like if I play Spider Man on Ps5 using say, the comic skin, or better yet the Sam Ramy skin. To say that the OG Toby McGuire Spider man 2 video game on PS2 is better than Insomniacs modern Spiderman games is better would be an absolute lie. They’re not better, you just feel nostalgia. But you slap the Toby Macguire suit on Insomniacs Peter Parker and set me free in New York with him, now that. That’s awesome.
