While I don’t think it was a bad idea to separate Lupinranger’s and Patranger’s designs, I feel like they should be considered as two sides of the same coin. They are meant to contrast one another (especially with how much of a goody-two shoes Ken’ichiro can be or how little Kairi could care even for his own self-imposed rules for better or for worse). Lupinrangers have black accents and have a mysterious aura. Patrangers have white accents and their identities are public knowledge. Together they a stronger design than they have separately.
That's a good point about the black/white accents representing their identities, I separated them mostly just because I like Patrangers quite a bit more but I definitely see where you're coming from!

They’re top 5 for me. I love the angular sides of the helmets, the glittering of the gem stones on the helmet and shoulder armour, and also the inscribed bicep bracelets. I wouldn’t call them basic, simple sure but they still have a gaudy or extravagant aspect to them
The Maskman suits have a 5 on the chest because it was supposed to be called Fiveman. It was changed late into development though. Fiveman ended up being used later. It's also why the main mech in Maskman is called Great Five.
My favorites are Abaranger, Shinkenger and Goseiger, those suts just look really cool IMO Least favorite is Battle Fever J, those helmets are the stuff of nightmares

I like that every person I have seen that talks about the suits of Kyoryuger NEVER seems to notice that the chest design, including the shoulder piece, resembles a dino head. The triangular segmented yellow section form teeth, the upper silver(/gold on silver) band actually has a small black rectangle (both front and back) on the opposite side of the shoulder piece, and represents a nostril, then finally the red rectangle on the shoulder piece is the eye of the dino head. Kyoryugold is a slight exception, since his nostril design is actually close to his shoulder piece that has said red. But this makes sense since his chest design is meant to be reminiscent of a pterosaur
Does it bother anybody else when the costumes featured details or patterns on the chest that SHOULD continue onto the back but stop at the seamline going down the sides? Denjiman and GoGoV come to mind.

10:14 I read in an article (sorry I forgot when and where) that the "5" on the Maskman suit was originally intended to be a "Fiveman" suit or symbol, hence the show's title was originally concepted as "Hikari Sentai FIVEMAN" but , for some reason, the "5" element was dropped and was replaced with "Mask" hence the official brand of MASKMAN. Fiveman, as we all know it, would be later used and seen in 1990.
Abare killer will forever be my favorite suit. I’m a power ranger kid though. I remember seeing Trent morph for the first time. He’s so freaking cool his suit, his sword, the super Dino mode, and that dope attack where he “draws” his attack and the sends it out. The best

I know you said this was your subjective preference and other diehards shit on MMPR because it gets the most content and they want their favorite show featured more, but putting Zyuranger so low when there’s a reason it’s so iconic is disrespectful. The simple, clean suit combined with the awesome helmets is a big reason why Power Rangers blew up, and I don’t think if American audiences had been introduced with any other season’s suits, that the show would have been as iconic. Every time I see other suits I think to myself, “yeah, this worked because of the MMPR suits.”

Yeah in talking to people it seems pretty divisive, It's probably because it's so serious and it doesnt have the fun side of Toku present in other shows ( just a guess )
I'd probably start with the original series from 2005. It can be confusing but IMO less confusing than Ultraman due to the relatively small number of projects compared to other Toku shows
Saru Brother is based on a monkey, not a gorilla. This wouldn't be a big deal, but it does actually make him the first monkey themed ranger, rather than an ape. Kiji Brother is a pheasant. Kind of just in the name
Yeah when I was researching I saw pheasant, but also a lot of other elements and inspirations Toei pulled from and to me he looks like a flamingo or maybe an ostrich lol
I would've had Dekaranger higher in my list just on how professional and uniform looking their suits are I think Ryusoulger would have benefitted from having a silver shoulder piece in addition to the silver arm Kyoryuger, I think would have loved more balanced by adding yellow trims on the lower garment Megaranger, I would have to lower its placement because of the horizontal piece with different colored squares, it throws the rest of the suit off Kakuranger, I can respect the placement LuPat, when considered together would wish Patranger had more dominant white colors equal to Lupinranger's dominant black Gaoranger, I want to place it higher among animal and dinosaur teams, felt like the suit had perfect balance and simplicity
as i remember the signs on fiveman's helmets are the subjects the character teach in school. maskman has 5 in their suite because maskman would be originally named as fiveman
My fav is definitely Kakuranger. It's the epitome of simple without being basic. Super fitting for their ninja aesthetic, too. Also, funny how every Ninja series ended up in the top 10 lol
I think, Goggle V helmets are often overlooked. They are the only ones with metal ornaments and jewelry, that actually look antique. There are others with metal ornaments, like Dairanger and Hurricanger, but they look more like plastic. I always call my grandma´s old silver forks the Goggle V cutlery. Dairanger have propably the most elegant suits ever. Here I think, the armor of the white ranger takes away from the elegance. I love Ohranger. Their simplicity, the visor shapes and gold accents are epic. From Megaranger to Timeranger, I have personal nostalgia for the suits.
Gokaiger is really good, but BoonBoomger and kingohger are really good mordern designs. I can't wait to see what powerrups and extra suits boonboomgers will get
If the site is up I would check "grownups in spandex". Its been down a lot lately so Id check out Tokuzilla or toku.fun but these sites have tons of sketchy popups so have a good antivirus and use at your own risk. And yeah, Its absurd that we have to jump through these hoops to watch Sentai lol

Zen Kaiser I really liked cuz the tribute to Akared and also TWOKAISER YEAAAH GOKAIGER STYLE SUIT 21:20 personally thI double badge looks out of place for some reason to me 22:00 I just loved all the gold accessories 26:00 I love that the others have red accents 26:30 I can’t explain why i find these suits so cool 28:22 yes yes I lov the variety!!! 31:30 actually one of my favorite gens cuz the angel motif, the black trim animals on the side of their helmets too and tbh their suits I would’ve ranked lower.
Although I'm more familiar with Power Rangers, this is the kind of detailed but fun list that I needed! Not 100% in agreement with your rankings but I totally appreciate you mentioning the little details like contrast and color trims that definitely factor into the suit's visual aesthetic! P.S. My favorite one is definitely the Carranger one, for the same reasons you mentioned and also because I like the off-road cars theme which are more grounded in reality 😁
O my god zyuranger was such a gut punch because of the depressing ending with burias part of the series and o my god I can never forget the even way way way more depressing finale storey ark of zyuranger plot twist and wrap up. I felt so sorry for bandora when I found out why she became the way she was. I wanted to give her a big huge and try to comfort her after the terrible price she had to pay because of here actions.
To think she did all that’s she did bad and wicked an got all that power for the grief from having something so terrible happen to one young boy that’s some scary shit . By the way to choke saban with how bad you executed what should have been finale before you decide to extend your adaptation of zyuranger by a good amount. What was the point to bring in the monster that you renamed lokar if you were not going to be respectful to the ending of zyurannger and have him you know actually die and get destroyed after he took the full blast of all of king broncho weaponry. but know you had lokar get hit retest slash teleport away never to have the storey about him ever resolved I bet my money cosmic force ended with that little plot line still not resolved. You were such a random lazy cheapskate skate sometimes saban how you didn’t jump ship completely before you bought the rights back from Disney to make only one good adaptation every one loved . then you made what still our considers the two most hated sequel seasons our the two most hated season in general of the whole usa before you tossed the writes to hasbro and have had nothing to do with the Americanization since you butchered angel sentia and pirate sentia.
Maskman was supposed to be named fiveranger since it was the first sentai to feature 5 mechas instead of the usual 2 or 3 which combine to the main mecha
So, one of the reasons why Ms. America's suit looks so weird is because she's actually kind of a Marvel character. This was around the time Marvel was licensing out their characters to Toei, with the tokusatsu series they did with Spider-Man being one of the more notable results of that partnership. Ms. America was another. She was a relatively C-list Marvel hero at the time, with only the latest person to hold the mantle, America Chavez, being really well known nowadays, to the point that she was in the MCU.
Was it just me that thought the helmets of Dekaranger / PR SPD made them look like a villain team? There is something ominous about the sleaked back pointy part of the visor that always made me think these helmets would have fit great on a villain ranger team.

If I remember correctly, Battle Fever J's suits are supposed to actually be real forms rather than suits over the humans. The manga shows it a lot better, but the helmets are their actual faces.
Flashman and GoGoV let the actual actors wore costume & helmet without visors. Goenger has the most number of helmetless scenes which the actual actors wore costume more often than other Sentai.
Even though I'm a Power Ranger fan and haven't seen many other Sentais I'm so happy to see that my favorite season and designs, Samurai/Shinkenger as Number 1 it was my childhood and I agree it's the best 😎
How or where do you watch all of these series? In the past, I watched shinkenger and gokaiger and found them much more enjoyable than their power range counterparts. Any help would be appreciated 👏🏻
You can watch a handful of them on Tubi.com, as well as shoutfactory.com. After that you can stream somewhere like Tokuzilla or Toku fun - just have a good antivirus and expect popups
I am surprised that both Maskman and Turborangers wasn’t in the top 20-10s. As they where both linked in you placing. When it was in development, Maskman was actually proposed as Fiveman?!?!. And yes the symbol in their chest is a Superman shaped 5. Also the proposed suit design is Battle Fever J inspired as the very first 6th member X-1 Mask is a shadow of the planning of Maskman. Also to add Car Themed Sentai(oh god) must be fully a 4 wheeler. And currently there are 4 series to boot: Turborangers, Carrangers, Go-Ongers and now Boomboongers. Though Go-On and BoonBoom(animal and Wheels) have an added twist they still have Cars to complement their mechas and the 5 Cormier that is based on. Dekarangers, Boukengers and Kirameigers are actually VEHICLE based only on the helmets as hovercrafts, airplanes and boats are in the roster and the three primary basis are Police, treasure hunting and Crystals are what they are. Nothing too nitpicking but I enjoy hearing your placing. And enjoy your contents and hard work in these vids.

My favorite suits are Ryusoulger, King-Ohger, changeman, and Kiramager, and Kyuranger. But all suits have a lot of charm. Donbrothers is also great but I’m not a fan of saru brothers outfit. Also now i'm expecting a morpher ranking.
And I want to mention I enjoy your videos please continue making these and I actually like Battle fever J Miss America helmet I think it makes it stick out from others and I actually like the earrings on the female rangers in five men but that's just my opinion
These are my ten favourite ones that are good/the best lupinranger vs patranger,kyuranger,shinkenger,gokaiger,kyoryuger,magiranger,gekiranger,go onger,toqger and boukenger these are my ten favourite super sentai suits
to support a lupin ranger a bit more (cause I feel you missed out some aspects of their design and personally they're my fav design for its simplicity yet speaking a lot to the modern design ideals of Arsene Lupin.) The pop collar on the cape helps pull together the whole "phantom thief" design. The top hat design also melds into a mask (similar to how the ranger's civilian forms would sometimes wear them on missions" Their belt buckle is a steel safe. The way the arms are segment off and in color give the "caught red handed" type of vibe, not to mention how skin tight they are compared to the usual sentai gloves giving more of that "thief" aesthetic. Their areas of color vs areas of black mostly are the reverse of what patoranger uses. Its a simple design given how much they had to reflect on patoranger and vice versa and I think that should've been given a bit more of a mention.
Personally I prefer more straightforward, "simple" suit designs like Kiramager and ToQger over busier suit designs like Kyoryuger or Kyuranger Btw, since you included Akibaranger on this list, where do you think you would place the suits for The High School Heroes?
Personally, for me the Hurricaneger is the best, the armor-like sleeves, each ranger has their own element emblem, the color choices for costumes (the light/dark blue, burgundy red),.. Top notch

Absolutely! I've got a few Sentai and Rider videos in the pipeline, but I plan to make Ultraman, Metal Heroes, and Garo content in the very near future

Yeah in talking to people it seems pretty divisive, It's probably because it's so serious and it doesnt have the fun side of Toku present in other shows ( just a guess )

I'd probably start with the original series from 2005. It can be confusing but IMO less confusing than Ultraman due to the relatively small number of projects compared to other Toku shows
Saru Brother is based on a monkey, not a gorilla. This wouldn't be a big deal, but it does actually make him the first monkey themed ranger, rather than an ape.
Kiji Brother is a pheasant. Kind of just in the name
Yeah when I was researching I saw pheasant, but also a lot of other elements and inspirations Toei pulled from and to me he looks like a flamingo or maybe an ostrich lol

I would've had Dekaranger higher in my list just on how professional and uniform looking their suits are
I think Ryusoulger would have benefitted from having a silver shoulder piece in addition to the silver arm
Kyoryuger, I think would have loved more balanced by adding yellow trims on the lower garment
Megaranger, I would have to lower its placement because of the horizontal piece with different colored squares, it throws the rest of the suit off
Kakuranger, I can respect the placement
LuPat, when considered together would wish Patranger had more dominant white colors equal to Lupinranger's dominant black
Gaoranger, I want to place it higher among animal and dinosaur teams, felt like the suit had perfect balance and simplicity
as i remember the signs on fiveman's helmets are the subjects the character teach in school. maskman has 5 in their suite because maskman would be originally named as fiveman

Aside from Toq 6, those might not be hazard line, but train lines, some maps do have do have lines in a similar pattern to what is on the suit.
Lol I'm honestly not sure, I've had different people tell me they are different things, but I do see what you're talking about in regards to maps
My fav is definitely Kakuranger. It's the epitome of simple without being basic. Super fitting for their ninja aesthetic, too. Also, funny how every Ninja series ended up in the top 10 lol

battle fever is my least favourite and gaoranger is my favourite. i didnt like boukengers outfit at first but their suits are growing on me

Dairangers is still my favorite sentai, so seeing them so high up was surprising!
Those suits are so clean and stylish they almost got #1 lol

I think, Goggle V helmets are often overlooked. They are the only ones with metal ornaments and jewelry, that actually look antique. There are others with metal ornaments, like Dairanger and Hurricanger, but they look more like plastic. I always call my grandma´s old silver forks the Goggle V cutlery.
Dairanger have propably the most elegant suits ever. Here I think, the armor of the white ranger takes away from the elegance. I love Ohranger. Their simplicity, the visor shapes and gold accents are epic. From Megaranger to Timeranger, I have personal nostalgia for the suits.
Goggle V's definitely do look antique 100%
Gokaiger is really good, but BoonBoomger and kingohger are really good mordern designs. I can't wait to see what powerrups and extra suits boonboomgers will get

If the site is up I would check "grownups in spandex". Its been down a lot lately so Id check out Tokuzilla or toku.fun but these sites have tons of sketchy popups so have a good antivirus and use at your own risk. And yeah, Its absurd that we have to jump through these hoops to watch Sentai lol
Dairanger is probably my favorite suit designs. I love the helmets and the balance of the white with the main colors

Although I'm more familiar with Power Rangers, this is the kind of detailed but fun list that I needed! Not 100% in agreement with your rankings but I totally appreciate you mentioning the little details like contrast and color trims that definitely factor into the suit's visual aesthetic!
P.S. My favorite one is definitely the Carranger one, for the same reasons you mentioned and also because I like the off-road cars theme which are more grounded in reality 😁

O my god zyuranger was such a gut punch because of the depressing ending with burias part of the series and o my god I can never forget the even way way way more depressing finale storey ark of zyuranger plot twist and wrap up. I felt so sorry for bandora when I found out why she became the way she was. I wanted to give her a big huge and try to comfort her after the terrible price she had to pay because of here actions.

By the way to choke saban with how bad you executed what should have been finale before you decide to extend your adaptation of zyuranger by a good amount. What was the point to bring in the monster that you renamed lokar if you were not going to be respectful to the ending of zyurannger and have him you know actually die and get destroyed after he took the full blast of all of king broncho weaponry. but know you had lokar get hit retest slash teleport away never to have the storey about him ever resolved I bet my money cosmic force ended with that little plot line still not resolved. You were such a random lazy cheapskate skate sometimes saban how you didn’t jump ship completely before you bought the rights back from Disney to make only one good adaptation every one loved . then you made what still our considers the two most hated sequel seasons our the two most hated season in general of the whole usa before you tossed the writes to hasbro and have had nothing to do with the Americanization since you butchered angel sentia and pirate sentia.

Maskman was supposed to be named fiveranger since it was the first sentai to feature 5 mechas instead of the usual 2 or 3 which combine to the main mecha

So, one of the reasons why Ms. America's suit looks so weird is because she's actually kind of a Marvel character. This was around the time Marvel was licensing out their characters to Toei, with the tokusatsu series they did with Spider-Man being one of the more notable results of that partnership. Ms. America was another. She was a relatively C-list Marvel hero at the time, with only the latest person to hold the mantle, America Chavez, being really well known nowadays, to the point that she was in the MCU.
Yeah tbh it blew my mind when I found out she was a literal Marvel character lol
Was it just me that thought the helmets of Dekaranger / PR SPD made them look like a villain team?
There is something ominous about the sleaked back pointy part of the visor that always made me think these helmets would have fit great on a villain ranger team.
Also the way the visors resemble the visor of KR Kiva or even Venom's eyes makes it look kinda evil as well IMO

If I remember correctly, Battle Fever J's suits are supposed to actually be real forms rather than suits over the humans. The manga shows it a lot better, but the helmets are their actual faces.

Flashman and GoGoV let the actual actors wore costume & helmet without visors. Goenger has the most number of helmetless scenes which the actual actors wore costume more often than other Sentai.
Even though I'm a Power Ranger fan and haven't seen many other Sentais I'm so happy to see that my favorite season and designs, Samurai/Shinkenger as Number 1 it was my childhood and I agree it's the best 😎
How or where do you watch all of these series? In the past, I watched shinkenger and gokaiger and found them much more enjoyable than their power range counterparts. Any help would be appreciated 👏🏻
You can watch a handful of them on Tubi.com, as well as shoutfactory.com. After that you can stream somewhere like Tokuzilla or Toku fun - just have a good antivirus and expect popups
I am surprised that both Maskman and Turborangers wasn’t in the top 20-10s.
As they where both linked in you placing. When it was in development, Maskman was actually proposed as Fiveman?!?!. And yes the symbol in their chest is a Superman shaped 5. Also the proposed suit design is Battle Fever J inspired as the very first 6th member X-1 Mask is a shadow of the planning of Maskman.
Also to add Car Themed Sentai(oh god) must be fully a 4 wheeler. And currently there are 4 series to boot: Turborangers, Carrangers, Go-Ongers and now Boomboongers. Though Go-On and BoonBoom(animal and Wheels) have an added twist they still have Cars to complement their mechas and the 5 Cormier that is based on.
Dekarangers, Boukengers and Kirameigers are actually VEHICLE based only on the helmets as hovercrafts, airplanes and boats are in the roster and the three primary basis are Police, treasure hunting and Crystals are what they are.

My favorite suits are Ryusoulger, King-Ohger, changeman, and Kiramager, and Kyuranger. But all suits have a lot of charm. Donbrothers is also great but I’m not a fan of saru brothers outfit. Also now i'm expecting a morpher ranking.

These are my ten favourite ones that are good/the best lupinranger vs patranger,kyuranger,shinkenger,gokaiger,kyoryuger,magiranger,gekiranger,go onger,toqger and boukenger these are my ten favourite super sentai suits
to support a lupin ranger a bit more (cause I feel you missed out some aspects of their design and personally they're my fav design for its simplicity yet speaking a lot to the modern design ideals of Arsene Lupin.)
The pop collar on the cape helps pull together the whole "phantom thief" design.
The top hat design also melds into a mask (similar to how the ranger's civilian forms would sometimes wear them on missions"
Their belt buckle is a steel safe.
The way the arms are segment off and in color give the "caught red handed" type of vibe, not to mention how skin tight they are compared to the usual sentai gloves giving more of that "thief" aesthetic.
Their areas of color vs areas of black mostly are the reverse of what patoranger uses.
Its a simple design given how much they had to reflect on patoranger and vice versa and I think that should've been given a bit more of a mention.
