Join me today for this short and sweet Yin Yoga practice focucing on the lower back and hamstrings. 14 minutes is all it takes...let Mimo the cat and I guide you through 3 poses to release lower back tension and discomfort! Feel better fast! Namaste, Aprille
Dear Aprille: I just completed this one and the "snack" for neck and shoulders and just what I needed. Oh that Sherlock is a big boy!! Well, we made it through Irma and we were so lucky where we were but so many near us our out of power for many days. My husband and I will be having many over to shower, and for R&R as for now we do have power. So many will be affected by this and I hate to see the stress and strain on faces. I'm going to have your awesome classes available for people to use. It will help immensely with your beautiful, calming voice and variety of classes. You will be just the ticket. Thanks you dearest Aprille for being with us and your prayers and concerns.
Dear Denise - I am so glad to hear from you! I haven't stopped thinking about you since Sunday when the hurricane made landfall and when I saw the destruction in Naples, I was even more worried. I am so glad you are safe! You are so kind to offer help in that way - people often forget that a nice shower, a warm meal, some rest in a comforting environment can do SO much to help relieve the stress and strain of disaster. What a wonderful idea for the community! Thank you for sharing my practices too - that is so sweet. I am honored. I will be uploading a very special Restorative Yoga practice on Friday for stress management in response to all that has happened recently. Hopefully it will help. Tomorrow I have a meditation for Panic Attacks and Anxiety - very short but some good tools for helping people to cope. Sending thoughts and prayers to you and all of those affected by these disasters. Peace and hugs, Aprille
Thank you Aprille. This is perfect after my day's travel in planes and cars. My friend and I are were saying how wonderful your practices are and you always bring such calmness in our lives. 💜❤️🙏
I so love these yin snacks! I work in landscaping, and these are just what I need after a long, physical day of work, where I want to adjust to being at home without expending a lot of energy or taking much time. Thank you! Namaste 🙏💚🦋
Aprille, I thank you and feel you truly are an angel here on earth. I am truly blessed to have found you. One of these days, I will get out and practice with you in person, dear soul. Give Lucy and that big fur man of yours - and all your family - a hug and kiss. Yours very truly and I sincerely appreciate all your support.
Thank you! Will do! I forgot to mention that in this video is Mimo - my daughters first cat who is not big but has a mane of fur that makes her look enormous (she's a Maine Coon cat). She's one of the most beloved cats in the local studio because she snuggles A LOT! Take care! Namaste, Aprille
So glad you had another little bit of time for these! Have you tried the myofascial release videos yet? They are short too and can really help release tension in the back and shoulders! Wishing you a wonderful day! Peace, Aprille
You are so very welcome Donna! That is exactly what these practices are about - fitting these Yin and Restorative style practices in easily. I am so happy you are enjoying them and thank you for joining me! Peace, Aprille
Good Morning Aprille, here’s one for you to consider: something to Target strengthening the muscles that are allowing a lifetime habit of pronation. I’m working on this with a massage therapist (also to strengthen my ankle/foot after fracturing it in October). I can easily to shoelace pose for whatever that says about hips👍🏽😉
Thanks Kathy! I have some practices coming out this month that strengthen the legs overall but realistically changing pronation or supination is about awareness throughout your day. Every time you feel yourself doing it, correct it. It might take a year to correct but mindfulness is key here. It's more about habit than strength. I would recommend rolling out the inner and outer leg to reduce tension pull as well. Happy New Year and I wish you healing for your ankle! Peace, Aprille 🙏
Ha! I actually do pick up stuff with my toes just for fun. I also only wear sensible shoes so haven’t destroyed my feet in that way. I’ve always pronated , had to wear only “Jumping Jack” shoes when I was a kid-woke up at night in excruciating pain and had to crawl to mommy for aspirin 😳. It’s time for correction before I get too much older. I’ve noticed my knocked-kneed stance more lately- don’t want to go into my 60s with that still going on!😉😉. Yoga has been the best for me, especially yin as I am pretty darn SUPER tight. The lamest student in class-one of the reasons why I have turned to UA-cam and can work from home.
I have a self massage video going up on Sunday that might help. 😉 My first time doing it I was really sore but my legs feel GREAT now! After Sunday let me know what you think!
Hello Colin and I hope you are having a wonderful day in Ireland! On each pose, lengthened back so as you fold forward, lengthening through the spine through crown of the head softly, then allowing the back to round as you reach the bottom of the fold. In Yin we can round as much as we need to at the end but I find that lengthening as I lower helps me get more deeply into the low back and hamstrings. Thank you for joining me today and have a wonderful and peaceful day! Namaste, Aprille
Balancing poses will help there too as you will have to use the 4 corners of your feet equally to hold. I always suggest people do the foot roll out I have online because the more contact you have with your feet...the better. It helps you wake them up. Can you spread your toes apart and move one by one? It's healthy to throw a towel down and use your toes to pick it up as well as lacing your fingers thru toes and wiggling them. More sensory perception...
Hi, Aprille! Well, it finally happened here. I think Oscar has finally caught on that yoga with Aprille means yoga with cat. Good thing, because I was starting to feel a bit envious there for a while. And after the set, I could barely type this on my iPad, because he kept rubbing up against the keypad. Not sure, maybe it is Oscar that got jealous of Lucy, haha
Hello! That's so funny. Amazing how pets are drawn to other pets on the screen interacting. They learn (I have seen mine watch another cat in the house and mimic behavior) how to interact from others and then see what happens when they do. I LOVE the time I spend with my kitties on the screen (and off) because it is so personally interactive and soothing. Even if all they do is sleep - it's still a soothing presence. And, they make great props! Have a beautiful day and give Oscar a rub for me! Thanks for joining us online (Mimo says hi here). Peace, Aprille
Oh my how delicious was this definitely my L side allowed more range than my right. Felt mmmmmmm.mmmmm.mmmmmm good thank u I'm now gonna due calves & hammies snack

Boy, no kidding! I sometimes stand with a block between my knees just to feel a better way to stand. Changes my brain I think😉
