    Multi-culture is used when you put many plantations in different resources together. This could increase the efficiency up to 200%.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  4 роки тому +4

      Yes, exactly ;) The more different types you have, the better efficiency can be raised even surpassing the negative -40% it gives if you have only 1 type of plantation.
      Also it depends on farm upgrades - there are different for each type and depending on that - yes, 200% is achievable, I think most common I had was even 250% with the budget and edicts! :)

      You cant abuse Multi Culture anymore after the patch. Max efficiency possible is 80% with all 9 plantations! Near each other! It's still makes up for the 40% initial loss! Also if you have a cow ranch you will also get 10% more for all 9 plantations.

    Yeah, multi-culture work mode for plantations is extremely useful when implemented properly. As the name implies diversity is key. If you have a large plot of land that can support a multitude of crop types build as many plantations as you can (within reason), all growing different things. Just be sure to set them all to multiculture mode and you will really be glad you did especially in the early game into the world wars and Cold War eras.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  2 роки тому +1

      Right? And another reason (also in early eras) is the diversity of resources you have - when you need to fulfill these pesky requests from the crown! When majority of resources you are harvesting - that era is the easiest to manage! :)

    I Like i lot your videos they helped me a lot to improve my gameplay
    there's one thing i would like to ask, i was in a gameplay in the colonial era i had multiculture agriculturies and i was making quite a lot of money with the rum destilary but i started losing a lot and i didint do anything, and a didin't understand what was happining and why i was losing money
    my question is what is the best possible things to do in the colonial era and how much money is good to have to do to the next?
    thanks again for your tips and tricks!

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  3 роки тому +2

      Happy to help and thank you for the kind words!
      It's simple - since DLC (and update) where trading was introduced prices for products are not all the time the same. They fluctuate and change over time so if you put all the eggs in one basket (focus only on one industry) then if the price for that product drops - you are in big trouble! That's what most likely what happened. I would suggest to check prices more often in trade screen to avoid such troubles ;)
      After that update I've also changed my tactic and best is to have some variety in your production - rum, cigars, hides/leather, planks/boats, cloth/apparel, chocolate, pharmaceuticals (only from sugar) - these are my go to industries (also outside of the Colonial ear, as you can see :) I choose these because none of them requires electricity to produce and none of them use deplete-able resources, so you can run your game for eternity ;)

    Do u know why do effiency of plantation go down in time ? I realised that in time all my plantation reduces to the around %40 effiency and thats why I lose all my games since production and trade are being effected.. Maybe nearby ranches and factories effects plantations in time due to pollution but not quite sure. Before I set a plantation I check its efficiency whether its %90 or higher (green to go) in time it become yellow or red (which is around %40 effiency) I am about to lose my mind.. Ty in advance.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  4 роки тому +3

      First thing that pops in my mind - do you have Mono culture work type selected?
      There is by default(!) a work mode that degrades soil thus reducing efficiency! You always want to select the other type..that comes with reduced efficiency..but putting highest budget and Agriculture Subsidies edict it will even out..and if you can pull of few different types of Plantation near each other - they reduce that negative effect of work mode..
      As far as my last test prove - pollution was not impacting soil effectiveness, but that was before last patches..need to check that again now! ;)

    • @retro1333
      @retro1333 4 роки тому +1

      Mariss so which one is better Mono Culture (default one) or Multi Culture(%40 decreased efficiency) :)

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  4 роки тому +1

      In my opinion - all the way Multi Culture.
      I have never ever used Mono Culture as that destroys the soil over time.
      There is never a harm to have different type of plantations - actually game pushes you to it!
      Having different type of food gives food bonus and all other plantations will be required if you want to top all the Broker missions (it's random, but over time there will be Produce 1000 XYZ resource, where XYZ=rubber, cotton, etc.)
      Being said that - if soil has good variety, then it is easy to pack 4 different types of Plantations where each will negate 10% of that reduced 40% efficiency. And once you have that setup (4 different types of Plantation) you have: 1) Soil that does not spoil 2) same base efficiency that would be with Mono Culture 3) good variation of foods/products to work with ;)
      Just keep in mind to change each and every Plantation work type to Multi Culture :)

      @MLMariss  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! And yes, indeed! Long time ago the soil degradation logic and this was not working at all, but they fixed it some time already! This is the reason why I always go multi-culture, even if I don't grow multi! Yes, I take efficiency hit, but mono will degrade the soil and at some point will have the same and lower output. There must be super fast and short gameplay for mono to come out as better work mode, which is totally opposite what Tropico 6 is :D

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  2 роки тому +1

      Hmm..good question! 3 years with patches and updates definitely have fixed some of them - the soil system was overhauled, and fish production as well. For trees, I think there has been nothing changed.
      But you are right - these should be revisited, at this point, I can't be sure if all of them are gone!

  • @vovasyhin7219

    Multi Culture around a cow ranch with a P Formation road will yield maximum of 144-175% Efficiency PERMANENTLY, on all 9 plantations around it.
    Plantation efficiency will never degrade and you will never have to replant any of your plantations due to degradation. Basically Multi Culture is better as it will save you more time in the long term having to do less micromanagement. Just plant and forget!
    PS: 4:42 You will lose 40% efficiency but will gain up to 80% Efficiency from Multi Culture! So basically you don't lose Efficiency whatsoever, you can only gain up to 40% more!

    • @MLMariss

      Mostly that is the true, BUT one problem arises - the default crop fertility! I mean, sometimes there is nothing else just one type of culture in that area and sometimes there are all other but the ones you need :D I mean - this all looks good on paper, but really depends on the map/vegetation, right? ;)

    There is in fast exactly one situation multi-culture seems to benefit. If you have a large farming area (a 4x4 grid of plantations for example,) with no 2 plantations in the multi-culture effect areas being the same, you can increase efficiency to be above 200% since the +10% efficiency stacks forever. This is how I've always built my plantations because I thought soil degradation actually mattered. The downside of this is obviously it takes up so much space and a lot of maps don't have room for this or the fertility doesn't work right.
    I had no idea mono-culture was so broken and OP though. I think from now on (or until it's patched) I'll be doing it this way. I also didn't think it was possible to fix soil degradation, and if after a patch its still just a manner of deleting and rebuilding, I'll probably still do farms with mono-culture. It simply seems too convenient now to focus my farms rather than try to have all 9 different crops in one area. Good research Mariss, I don't think I ever would have noticed this.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  5 років тому

      Exactly my thoughts - I was more than shocked about misconception I was following before :D I think there might be a connection between soil degradation..and beauty..maybe?! But still - if you build tourism buildings near your farm fields..you are doing it wrong :D

    if mono culture is 40% more effiecent, then to use multi culture as a bonus you must have 5 plantations touching all running different crops. 10% per plantation so 4 plantations together with different crops will be the same % effeciency running multi over mono

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  Рік тому +1

      Yup, that's right! BUT even without any of that. When playing with mono culture - you get 40% better outcome for a while(!) as the soil degrading will pull it down, and at one point this workmode will be less efficient that multi culture workmode! That's another reason why using mono culture is not worth even if you are not planning to build 4 more different plantations around ;)

    That's because you are using multicultural wrong you Ned to put 15 to 20 farms together make them mini farms about five by three grid you will get over 200 percent efficiency.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  4 роки тому

      Thank you for the thought, but I cannot approve this message :D
      If someone 'cuts down' the plantations fields - that impacts the fertility (it goes down) as well as 15-20 plantations does not do the trick because Multicultural work mode counts different crops Plantations only once. As there is 9 types of culture that can be grown, only 9 Plantations will add to that bonus :)
      Being said that, when 9 Plantations have full boost to each other, we come out with +80% work mode bonus and -40% because of work mode, so that means, without any additional bonuses the max we can get out of Multicultural work mode is +40% ending up with 140% Plantation efficiency.
      Further more - on the reduced Plantation field idea (having only absolute minimum size 3x5 Plantation) will end up having 60% efficiency at the end, which is pretty poor compared to full size fields. :)
      I hope this helps you and other optimize your field Plantation yields and become a better el Presidente for your tropicans ;)
