-Dave Matthews made a surprise appearance at the Greenwich Town Party and performed a 30min set. The Dave Matthews Band performed later that night at Comcast Theatre (Hartford Meadows) in Hartford, CT.

I love that Dave plays a smaller show before his own. Class act and appreciates the fans!

His music is something else. He is an amazing songwriter. He uses so many different chords and moves up and down the fret board in most songs. If you ever play his songs you learn quickly that you'll utilize lots of slides and use all your fingers (pinkie will be strong.)

I was sitting in the parking lot at the meadows enjoying myself as always and I received a text from my boss telling me how Dave Matthews was in the middle of performing a solo show where she was...so jealous

I literally had the biggest smile on my face the whole time. The second I heard "mr dave matthews" over the pa I immediately freaked out, sprinted to the front, and it was probably the best surprise i have ever experienced

He uses a mix, but yes for the last year or so his Taylors have been absent from the rotation. He uses this custom Gibson for raised-B tuning, and for his main guitars in the live shows he's been using Rockbridge Guitars. Most people seem to think he's still using his Martins for studio recording too.

It's kinda weird that there's a 2012 Dave Matthew Signature Taylor guitar and now he never uses the taylor that we all know and love.
i love how the camera crew is getting a practice shoot in. im sure that film is sitting around somewhere... gotta love the enthusiasm of the ladies we can hear, how everuything dave says is either genius or absolutely hysterical "yah! you know? hes right!! it is like that!" then the song starts and its back to talking amongst yourself

Wish I was there
This was amazing...I was chilling in the front row an hour before Grace Potter and the Nocturnals because I was mainly there to see them...all of a sudden Dave comes out!! That's the closest I'll ever be for a Dave Matthews concert.

Dave's just Awesome! Period! Love seeing the shows with Tim, but alone he's a bit of a different animal. Would love to get lucky enough to catch one of these.
As I age, I tend to prefer him by himself with his guitar or him with Tim Reynolds - the nice simple arrangements with clear guitar and lyrics. I love the band, but I could listen to him by himself singing all day long (much to the wife's dismay).

damn man that sucks...I had tickets to the show that night, was my first dave show. But I wish i knew he was there i wouldve drove out there, i remember sitting home all day till a couple hours before show time

Nevermind, I get what's going on there ( 26:05 and on)... Somebody was trying to accuse him of rape -- after the woman drank too much (most likely a normal occurrence), threw herself at a guy, and regretted it the next morning (i.e. "car wreck").

i'm a big dm fan and have been to several concerts. no matter where you're sitting it's hard to enjoy his music because "fans" are constantly talking. it makes it hard to enjoy the show.

I don't know, man, I've listened to a lot of people who say they have mastered this song or that, but they always leave some little thing out. Dave is hard to copy. He's Dave. And Dave is a bit weird.

Yes they would have. I've worked for these people. They are generally very pleasant but only if they get to talk about all the amazingness that is THEM. There's a town about 15-20 miles to the west called Madison where the people are the same... I live 15 miles to the west of THAT place. I wish I knew this was going to happen....I would have stood in the back with a HUGE smile on my face
Mine too!! I tried to go to the show later that night and ended being sold fake tickets...the security guards didn't even care. Worst experience ever at a Dave concert.
Hopefully she got stoned at the show and mellowed out.
