Ikr. It feels that the Parental side of the Protests has yet to be fully covered. Most didn't work their ass off for their kids to be out there protesting instead of being in the classroom.
"Protest, advocate, change the world! But you better finish your damn education before any of that. We didn't save up all this money to see you get a rap sheet before you graduate." - What I'd imagine my own parents saying to me.

He's also been at SNL for like 20 years because he probably can't get a better gig. I look at SNL like high school or college and eventually the stars "graduate" and move on. Kenan is like that 8th year senior in college who is always trying to prey upon freshmen.

As a parent of a current 2024 Columbia graduate ....All of the statements from Mr. Roberts are FACTS, except tuition isn't 68k...it's leaning more on the 90k end, and you better believe, I'm feeling all this and more. My baby has been robbed of both his graduations. HS and College. He was valedictorian of his HS and never got the chance to complete his speech or walk in a ceremony. Prayers for your family. As a parent, I would be so upset right now. I'm too poor for Columbia, but the protests at my local state college just started. Thankfully, they were able to shut it down with sprinklers and bicicle cops, but still. It's wild out there right now.

This cold open felt like it was a replacement for a sketch they dropped, but Kenan carried it

Producers rarely get any love, and it seems like a fairly thankless job pulling together all the details that comprise a great show, so I wanted to mention that the soundtrack SNL uses as an intro for this kind of community-broadcast sketch is just perfect. Every time I hear that kind of staccato-rubato flute music, it evokes memories of a community-affairs program that was broadcast from a local affiliate in my hometown and, I imagine, all those that were based in other peoples' hometowns. 👌👏🏻💖

The most alarming thing about this sketch is that Columbia is $68,000 per year. That's almost $10,000 MORE per year than the average American individual income. What a huge ripoff.
They have very generous private financial aid. Many students go for free.

@@ScottSteilen there was one really bad professors that I skipped out on a few times and there were probably a hand full of times where something came up but primarily I was going deep in debt to be able to attend class so I did.
I paid my own way through it working three jobs darn right I didn't miss a class

Kenan has such great comedic timing. With anyone else in that bit - it could have been a bust - but not with Kenan. Over and over again, with his timing and facial expressions, he has saved many SNL sketches that would have bombed without him.
