Our dishwasher lost power and we have been going crazy dealing with our home warranty folks who called an electrician who said our 25 year old house needed to be rewired costing $1,900+. After a month without a dishwasher, I said to myself, why haven’t we checked UA-cam. And when we did, this solution saved us $1,900. Lol. We are so so so thankful. I have had this dishwasher for less than a week. The power went out on it I couldn't get the door to lock. I checked all the wiring all the way to the breaker. I figured the computer was fried. I called Lowes, where I bought it a week ago, they said bring it back. Oh, ok it's that easy. Thank god I found your video. I'm pretty handy but I would have never figured this out without you guys. I am so grateful to you for this post. I don't blame you for being hesitant to play with the latch. It took some muscle and just the right tool to get it to pop out. I tried a coat hanger, some forceps, a crochet hook and finally got it right with a tiny screwdriver. You are an angel.

Hey, thanks for this video! I got this dishwasher back in September, and it just did this a few days ago. I am waiting for Lowe’s to call me on setting up a repair appointment. I saw this video, tried a blinder clip like you did, but it didn’t work. So, I tried a clothes hanger and bam! It worked just fine! Thanks!

Geez man thank you for the vid! We just had this happen to us, father noticed it wasn't getting power, so we checked the plug; checked the cable, checked everything that we could think. We did notice that it wasn't locking, so when I looked up that it wasn't getting power *your* vid was the first thing that showed up in the search engine. Pulled the latch back, and it now has power. Not sure why that latch exists, safety feature maybe? Dunno, least it works now!

@@Utubin I don't remember the model I took mine back a while ago to Lowes and they let me choose another dishwasher I got a whirlpool now and haven't had any problems, the main problem with this Midea is that every now and then the door latch would pop and the whole dishwasher will have no power, it's a stupid switch in the door that latches and it will pop up and the dishwasher won't work, I called Midea the first time it happened and they told me to get a clothes hanger to fix it , I laughed are you serious a clothes hanger but anyway I found something to work better in the clothes hanger and I figured other people will have this problem so I made this video showing how to fix it. Also this model had other problems like some blue light code will start flashing and I couldn't get rid of it also it stopped draining properly and kept water in the bottom of the drain so I just took it back to Lowe's and showed them this video and they gave me a refund, I could go further on this about how they are selling things that they know have a problem but if you don't ask about it they don't say anything, anyway I got a whirlpool and no problems
I have been looking into doing appliance repair..from what I have been seeing on FB and you tube...it's big bucks.. I am going to try and do it on the side..

I figured this out a month ago so what is the permanent fix? I see how the gray fixed square triggers the latch and obviously the door part slips when opening so it does not reset. I do not want to have to do this every time this happens. Is there a replacement part that they can come and fix here?
Had to be persistent with Midea but we were able to get them to send a local tech with a replacement part. He replaced the latch assembly and said it was the third one he’d replaced in my area this week. Hopefully they’ve improved the part.

I think midea finally fixed this problem because my gf got one back in December and I told her to take it back it's gonna keep popping that switch but hers hasn't broke yet

Yup i tired it with the hanger and it wasn't strong enough. They sent the technician out. He did the same thing with a "pick tool" by channel lock. 10 bucks on Amazon for a set of 4 with different angles

Geez man thank you for the vid! We just had this happen to us, father noticed it wasn't getting power, so we checked the plug; checked the cable, checked everything that we could think. We did notice that it wasn't locking, so when I looked up that it wasn't getting power *your* vid was the first thing that showed up in the search engine.
Pulled the latch back, and it now has power. Not sure why that latch exists, safety feature maybe? Dunno, least it works now!

@@Utubin I don't remember the model I took mine back a while ago to Lowes and they let me choose another dishwasher I got a whirlpool now and haven't had any problems, the main problem with this Midea is that every now and then the door latch would pop and the whole dishwasher will have no power, it's a stupid switch in the door that latches and it will pop up and the dishwasher won't work, I called Midea the first time it happened and they told me to get a clothes hanger to fix it , I laughed are you serious a clothes hanger but anyway I found something to work better in the clothes hanger and I figured other people will have this problem so I made this video showing how to fix it. Also this model had other problems like some blue light code will start flashing and I couldn't get rid of it also it stopped draining properly and kept water in the bottom of the drain so I just took it back to Lowe's and showed them this video and they gave me a refund, I could go further on this about how they are selling things that they know have a problem but if you don't ask about it they don't say anything, anyway I got a whirlpool and no problems

I figured this out a month ago so what is the permanent fix? I see how the gray fixed square triggers the latch and obviously the door part slips when opening so it does not reset. I do not want to have to do this every time this happens. Is there a replacement part that they can come and fix here?

Had to be persistent with Midea but we were able to get them to send a local tech with a replacement part. He replaced the latch assembly and said it was the third one he’d replaced in my area this week. Hopefully they’ve improved the part.

Yup i tired it with the hanger and it wasn't strong enough. They sent the technician out. He did the same thing with a "pick tool" by channel lock. 10 bucks on Amazon for a set of 4 with different angles
