I have contacted Midea about it. Mine is just 2 months old. All come with a 12 months warranty. They are sending someone out to fix it, free of charge.
That door latch problem is going to keep happening unless they have a new part for it , your going to have to keep using that piece I use or a clothes hanger like they told me lol

So this problem is pretty common among many dishwashers and to properly fix the issue the mechanism should be totally replaced. Until it is replaced this is a neat idea to help alleviate the problem. Thank you Brian!

Unfortunately, it's starting to get to the point where we have to do this every time we open the door. I hope the new assembly we are about to order is made much better and doesn't stick like this. @@everygooddaydesigns ended up busting the second one, too. I don't know what the issue is with this washer... or us?... But we did find a workaround. If you just apply light pressure and lift slightly up when you open the door, it won't trip 98% of the time. I think if you lift up, the latch doesn't get caught on whatever trips it. Hope this helps!
Update: second one finally snapped entirely and I got a replacement latch. Looks like it's been redesigned since last I ordered it. Hopefully this one stays!
Thank you SO much! We had checked every power issue we could think of, and this was EXACTLY what we needed. I first tried to pull it out with a Hercules hook (for picture hanging) but it pulled it nearly flat. I dug around and found a binder clip like you used and ta-da! I think the equal pressure of pulling from the middle is what made the difference. A million thanks!!

Thanks for your video. It’s happened 3 times before and I’ve taken the door apart each time to reset the latch. It happened a 4th time this morning, so I’m glad I found your video before taking the entire door apart again. Happy Thanksgiving!

@@alisonrenee257 that's funny , just be aware Alison it's going to keep happening , I took mine back and got another dishwasher a whirlpool, now some people on here said Midea has a permanent fix for it now. it's a number in the back of the instructions manual you can call , but it's going to keep happening ❤️
@@BigBrian yes, this is the second time in about a month it’s happened now. The first time we called them and they came out to fix it so when it happened again, I was mad! We are talking about replacing it but I’ll have to call them and see what they can do to fix it. They should have fixed it the first time when it happened!

Just a heads up to all reading, if your unit is still under warranty, even if this fix works for you Midea will still probably want to send a technician to replace this latch for you, so make sure you call or chat w/ their customer service before your warranty expires. I didn’t know this but all newer makes of dishwashers have this problem. Thank God for Big Brian. I have learned to stand directly in front of the dishwasher and gently open it to avoid this problem. Recently I closed our Midea and went to run it, it ran thru all the cycles rapid fire. It had something caught in the filter and once Rob cleaned it, it worked like a charm again

Fixed mine this way but used a pull tab from a beer can and held it with pliers to pull the latch. Happened again so I sprayed some WD40 into the plastic latch and spring assembly and around the edges and that seems to have permanently fixed it by letting the latch move more freely. Might just have to oil it every couple of years to keep it working.

Had anyone had this issue fixed? Mine has become so bad, we have to reset the latch every time the door is opened. Other than the latch issue, I absolutely love this dishwasher. I started a warranty repair claim, but they say the parts to fix it won’t be available until late February.

Brian, my boyfriend stopped the dishwasher mid cycle when this problem occurred on our Midea. The trick does work. Did you by chance stop the machine mid cycle
Everytime this has happened my girlfriend was using the dishwasher but I don't think she opened it mid cycle. I'm thinking about getting a new dishwasher but we like the way this one cleans. Lowe's as long as you got the receipt you can get another one. Even if you don't have the receipt Lowe's got record of you buying it so, we do like the way this one cleans this must happen a lot because the lady at Madea told us to do this when it's when it first happened but she said to use a clothes hanger.
Ours wasn't in a cycle when it happened to us. We opened the dishwasher to out a dirty fish in there, hear a snap, couldn't figure out what it was and then it wouldn't latch or turn on.

Ours does this also . It's frequent now . Midea should have someone on this instead of just continuously having to pull it out . We might send ours back if there is no permanent fix .

How is Media doing? Is she still cleaning well? Have you been cleaning the dishwasher monthly with a dishwasher cleaner? The Latch must get out of alignment occasionally, probably from expansion and contraction of the stainless steel from the heating while in use. Think about a cookie sheet in the oven. The Latch has a working tolerance it is just not aligning properly. Is the Latch itself on the dishwasher plastic or metal? Just curious, what is going on with Media.
The Media always cleaned good but that latch still pops, and I have to do it because my gf can't and I don't know why they made it like that, as you can see by the comments it's a pain in the ass but I still got it 🙂

You may never see this, but I have the same dishwasher and cannot figure out how to remove the top rack from the rails. I've looked through every page of the operations manual and the service manual and there's nothing about how to do it. There here are no videos on youtube, that I can find, that show how to remove these type of latches. Any tips or thoughts about how to do this?
I don't have this this dish washer anymore but as I remember you could drop the top rack down by pulling on the side of the racks there was a latch built on the rack you could adjust that top rack

This happens alot to us and we are getting real pissed about it. If somehow I can lower the part that is fixed to the dishwasher, maybe that would stop the latch from slipping past the "fixed part" when opening. Or else making the latch assembly in the door easier to flip when opening. Maybe it`s a design flaw, but either way, I purchased the extended warranty and I am going to most likely return this.

I got Lowe's to give me another dishwasher and got a whirlpool 😆 but I seen someone said in one of the comments that they got a fix now you have to call Midea I guess

I think they should recall it. Now I'm gonna check mine I think maybe that is it even if the light is on. The lady shouldn't have told you to use a hanger because it could void the warranty! She knows better then that and should had send someone out! Even if you fix it and this is for everyone else call and tell them to send someone, when they get there let they know that the lady said (that's if you called and did. Get her name) told me to get something to pull it out and it worked. You need proof of work orders incase you got a lemon they have to give you a new one!

Wanted to let you all know that I sent an email to Midea about my dishwasher latch having to be "fixed" with a clip about two times a week and they sent out a technician, who replaced the latch with a new one. I wasn't charged anything for this.

Yeah I took mine back got a whirlpool no problems 👍😃 I gotta say the Midea has a lot of nice features and it's quiet as hell and it cleaned good but that door latch I can't understand why in the hell would they make it like that just to shut the whole dishwasher down? It's been almost 4 weeks since mine broke. I've sent 4 emails with not a single reply. I got on with customer chat and the only thing I was told was where to our jaded the piece along with them telling me it won't be in sto k till at least 12/9 which is another month from now. I will absolutely be letting all of my friends and family know what a piece of junk this dishwasher is and how horrible customer service is about the issue
Went back and forth on emails for a week before Midea told me the one year warranty was expired so I called Lowes but Lowes couldn’t find a technician to fix it for over a month so they refunded me the cost of the dishwasher but the lock issue happens several times a week now. At this point I’m just waiting until the lock snaps off and then I’ll get another one. Not a midea though which is a shame because other than the lock issue I like this dishwasher

@@everygooddaydesigns ended up busting the second one, too. I don't know what the issue is with this washer... or us?...
But we did find a workaround. If you just apply light pressure and lift slightly up when you open the door, it won't trip 98% of the time. I think if you lift up, the latch doesn't get caught on whatever trips it.

Thank you SO much! We had checked every power issue we could think of, and this was EXACTLY what we needed. I first tried to pull it out with a Hercules hook (for picture hanging) but it pulled it nearly flat. I dug around and found a binder clip like you used and ta-da! I think the equal pressure of pulling from the middle is what made the difference. A million thanks!!

@@BigBrian yes, this is the second time in about a month it’s happened now. The first time we called them and they came out to fix it so when it happened again, I was mad! We are talking about replacing it but I’ll have to call them and see what they can do to fix it. They should have fixed it the first time when it happened!

Just a heads up to all reading, if your unit is still under warranty, even if this fix works for you Midea will still probably want to send a technician to replace this latch for you, so make sure you call or chat w/ their customer service before your warranty expires. Also, you have to pull quite a bit harder than you'd think.

I didn’t know this but all newer makes of dishwashers have this problem. Thank God for Big Brian. I have learned to stand directly in front of the dishwasher and gently open it to avoid this problem. Recently I closed our Midea and went to run it, it ran thru all the cycles rapid fire. It had something caught in the filter and once Rob cleaned it, it worked like a charm again

Fixed mine this way but used a pull tab from a beer can and held it with pliers to pull the latch. Happened again so I sprayed some WD40 into the plastic latch and spring assembly and around the edges and that seems to have permanently fixed it by letting the latch move more freely. Might just have to oil it every couple of years to keep it working.

after i successfully reset the latch, i shut the door and the panel shuts off. i cant seem to find the replacement for the latch assembly!
Had anyone had this issue fixed? Mine has become so bad, we have to reset the latch every time the door is opened. Other than the latch issue, I absolutely love this dishwasher. I started a warranty repair claim, but they say the parts to fix it won’t be available until late February.
Our does it 100% of the time and it's brand new. We cannot open our door without it happening. So maddening.
Take it back get another brand , I got a whirlpool and I love it! No problems

Did you return this dishwasher? I saw this at Lowes, seems like a good deal but maybe to good?
Yes I returned it and got a whirlpool, love it, this Midea door latch will start popping the circuit every time you use it
cleans good, and it's quiet. But this issue will drive you crazy. I'm sure one day the latch will eventually break so I would go with another brand if I were you.
Brian, my boyfriend stopped the dishwasher mid cycle when this problem occurred on our Midea. The trick does work. Did you by chance stop the machine mid cycle
Everytime this has happened my girlfriend was using the dishwasher but I don't think she opened it mid cycle. I'm thinking about getting a new dishwasher but we like the way this one cleans. Lowe's as long as you got the receipt you can get another one. Even if you don't have the receipt Lowe's got record of you buying it so, we do like the way this one cleans this must happen a lot because the lady at Madea told us to do this when it's when it first happened but she said to use a clothes hanger.
Ours wasn't in a cycle when it happened to us.
We opened the dishwasher to out a dirty fish in there, hear a snap, couldn't figure out what it was and then it wouldn't latch or turn on.

Ours does this also . It's frequent now . Midea should have someone on this instead of just continuously having to pull it out . We might send ours back if there is no permanent fix .

How is Media doing? Is she still cleaning well? Have you been cleaning the dishwasher monthly with a dishwasher cleaner? The Latch must get out of alignment occasionally, probably from expansion and contraction of the stainless steel from the heating while in use. Think about a cookie sheet in the oven. The Latch has a working tolerance it is just not aligning properly. Is the Latch itself on the dishwasher plastic or metal? Just curious, what is going on with Media.
The Media always cleaned good but that latch still pops, and I have to do it because my gf can't and I don't know why they made it like that, as you can see by the comments it's a pain in the ass but I still got it 🙂

You may never see this, but I have the same dishwasher and cannot figure out how to remove the top rack from the rails. I've looked through every page of the operations manual and the service manual and there's nothing about how to do it. There here are no videos on youtube, that I can find, that show how to remove these type of latches. Any tips or thoughts about how to do this?
I don't have this this dish washer anymore but as I remember you could drop the top rack down by pulling on the side of the racks there was a latch built on the rack you could adjust that top rack

This happens alot to us and we are getting real pissed about it. If somehow I can lower the part that is fixed to the dishwasher, maybe that would stop the latch from slipping past the "fixed part" when opening. Or else making the latch assembly in the door easier to flip when opening. Maybe it`s a design flaw, but either way, I purchased the extended warranty and I am going to most likely return this.

I got Lowe's to give me another dishwasher and got a whirlpool 😆 but I seen someone said in one of the comments that they got a fix now you have to call Midea I guess
@@BigBrian I called yesterday and they just wanted to send a technician. I'm gonna just try and replace the part I think
@@everygooddaydesignsok but I heard they have a piece that locks that switch in place and if you mess with it you could void the warranty if you want to take it back just saying 😍

I think maybe that is it even if the light is on. The lady shouldn't have told you to use a hanger because it could void the warranty! She knows better then that and should had send someone out! Even if you fix it and this is for everyone else call and tell them to send someone, when they get there let they know that the lady said (that's if you called and did. Get her name) told me to get something to pull it out and it worked. You need proof of work orders incase you got a lemon they have to give you a new one!
LOWES took mine back and I got a whirlpool, I showed them this video and showed them all the people complaining on here and they took mine back , they said they didn't know about this problem and I told them if they would have shown me this Problem in the beginning I would have never bought it, and a lot of the people that work there claim they didn't know about this problem they just sell them somewhere on one of my videos Midea was on here commenting supposedly they have a new fix for this but I don't know I have a whirlpool now
@@BigBrian hmmm when they come out and fix mine (it's not that problem) I will tell the repair guy that. I called the manufacturer and they had me do a video to send ro them but gave me the wrong email. Do you happen to know it by any chance?
@@Gchavarria nope , I remember looking in the back of the owners manual book that's where I got the number from they had a toll free number but I got rid of all that stuff when I took the dishwasher back
Wanted to let you all know that I sent an email to Midea about my dishwasher latch having to be "fixed" with a clip about two times a week and they sent out a technician, who replaced the latch with a new one. I wasn't charged anything for this.

Yeah I took mine back got a whirlpool no problems 👍😃 I gotta say the Midea has a lot of nice features and it's quiet as hell and it cleaned good but that door latch I can't understand why in the hell would they make it like that just to shut the whole dishwasher down? I think it's made in Japan or China
Well just fyi you can only do this so many times before that piece BREAKS and makes the dishwasher useless.
I can't even close the door now

Wow sorry to hear that ,call Midea they should fix that for free, I took mine back to Lowe's way back and they let me get another dishwasher try to take it back

@@rachelsrandoms1670 they got a 12 month warranty also they have been commenting a lot on one of my videos , and feel free to use this video if you want to take it back to the store you bought it from , that's what I did I showed this video to Lowe's to show how many ppl are complaining and if they would have shown me this latch was like this beforehand I would have never bought it! They claim they didn't know about this problem ???? And the people that work there didn't know either but now they know!

It's not a lemon it's a factory defect , or something,look at all the ppl complain about the same thing. it's a good dishwasher but that's what you got to do when it when this happens you got to pull that piece out I made this video to help people.

Why is this happening!?
The piece on mine broke and now I can't pop it out at all!
It's been almost 4 weeks since mine broke. I've sent 4 emails with not a single reply.
I got on with customer chat and the only thing I was told was where to our jaded the piece along with them telling me it won't be in sto k till at least 12/9 which is another month from now.
I will absolutely be letting all of my friends and family know what a piece of junk this dishwasher is and how horrible customer service is about the issue
Went back and forth on emails for a week before Midea told me the one year warranty was expired so I called Lowes but Lowes couldn’t find a technician to fix it for over a month so they refunded me the cost of the dishwasher but the lock issue happens several times a week now. At this point I’m just waiting until the lock snaps off and then I’ll get another one. Not a midea though which is a shame because other than the lock issue I like this dishwasher
I was just told they wouldn’t pay… this is crap!
