For me it was more like games I bought and then gave away, sold or traded I wish I would have kept. My whole NES, SNES, Genesis, GameCube, 360 and Dreamcast collections. I only recently started rebuilding my collections for Dreamcast, GameCube and 360 collection but I can guarantee it would have been much cheaper to have kept them but young parent and changing priorities during late 90s through 2000s just made it to where I did what needed. I appreciate my game collection I have now and will more than likely hold till I absolutely will no longer have a use for them and will just pass it down to my daughter who is an avid collector herself

LRG probably can't do a reprint on Switch without ticking off the customers who bought it since it was sold as a limited run. But I bet'cha they get around that by releasing a Switch 2 version. At least, that's what I tell myself to feel better about it.

    • @Noirevert

@@wufners You’re right that LRG probably can’t do a Switch reprint since they’d be opening themselves up to false advertising claims, but Wayforward could partner with someone else to produce a different version that would play the same. I usually don't deny myself when I want a game, because I've been bitten by that before and had to pay through the roof. LOL now the only problem is that we need to buy new shelving units all the times for games and merch. 🤣

The airline offered any passenger $100 for someone to postpone their flight to the next day, then $200, then $300, then $600 (hotel and meals also paid for). At that point, I almost caved, because all I could see was being able to afford the FE Fates collector's edition in my mind, just for arriving a day late. 😅

Hi Emily, so Signalis has a reprint on VGP for PS4, none for Switch yet. I also missed out on getting the Child of Light Switch release because for whatever reason I didn't buy it.
Another game I missed out on getting cheap was Legend of Nayuta. It's only $50 now so same price as the MSRP, but it was $25 and I was intending to get it but I don't use Amazon Prime and I didn't really want to add anything else at that time and then it was too late, lost my chance.
Then the last few games you'll be disappointed in me, is that I only played halfway through Trails of Cold Steel 3 and just got burnt out. The Trails games are great, but same gameplay every game with minor difference and just so much what I feel is pretty unnecessary dialogue. I think modern day RPGs add so much text as a way to artificially add game time(but that's not different than all the other ways that devs force you to spend more time to do the same thing you'd spend seconds or minutes in a classic game.
Long story short, because of my burn out on the Trails games and already owning ToCS4 which I bought for $20, I figured I may way for the prices to drop for the others. So now Daybreak is out and I've missed, what, three of the games that have now increased in price? I keep telling myself i just need to buy Daybreak right now as I'm not really losing money to buy it but still haven't.
Now I'm sure that you have many of these, but these are two I want and I'll never get. Remember back in the day when Earthbound was only $100. I was like, yeah, I'll keep waiting maybe I'll get it for cheaper. Same with Snatcher on the Sega CD. Well Snatcher, let's hope Konami does a Policenauts/Snatcher Collection because that's the only way you're getting into my collection(Snatcher is a great game but I'm not paying $1000+.) I do own Earthbound finally, on my SNES Classic. Never going to pay the asking price for a complete version of the game though so SNES Classic has to do. I actually own a second SNES Classic so I have two copies of Earthbound.

Trails of cold Steel 1 and 2 PS4 ESB versions is a pretty crazy price spike especially since 3 and 4 are relatively affordable. I was lucky enough to get 1 and 2 at retail. The physical game market can definitely be hard to predict for sure.

    The final fantasy pixel remaster
Square Enix did a really scumbag move and opened the orders window at like 3am in the US and they were immediately sold out. The ps4 version was going for around $700 until recently videogamesplus did a reprint
I also picked up painkiller and the Syberia collection from them for $40 when they were going for $300
I also lost my original Pokémon black 2 while moving, I got it for $40 and now it’s around $150

    Two things:
    1. I just sold my copy of Gravity Rush Remastered for PS4. I needed the funds to help get me a Debug PS2.
And 2. I actually have a copy of FF7 Remake Intergrade for PS5. A friend of mine was trying to hunt down a copy last year, and I was shocked that it was rare/now over $100 for a new copy. I went to my local mom & pop shop, and they still had two new copies, so I bought them, send him the one, and kept the other. I still have it sealed, along with a Deluxe version of Rebirth

I bought the SNES version of Chrono Trigger brand new and for $10.00 from a bargain bin in a store called Biggs in 1997, two years after its release. I had no idea what it was, it was just cheap and the box art looked cool. At the time, I was rarely playing the SNES at all because the N64 was the latest thing.
I loved it so much and had no idea that it was even that big of a deal until many years later when the internet became more common. I saw it in a retro game store not long ago with a price tag of $220.00 for the cart only.

I can related to that regret countless times. I remember when our local GameStop had Persona 1 and 2 for the PSP for $19.99 each and those were the versions with the goodies. Probably a more recent example was not picking up Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney when it was at MSRP. I had gotten into the 3DS late in it's life and while it looked interesting, I wasn't sure about visual novel style games at the time.

But it was more because i never knew it existed until like 5 years ago, loved the mega man legends games and would have definitely picked it up, sells for around $600 now. I ended up just buying it on the PlayStation store digitally for $5. I got into the 3ds around the same time and went on a buying spree. Almost everything i bought around then has tripled in price

Yo, that 7th Dragon III long box! I've got such a soft spot for that game. I ended up collecting the whole series. Wish we could get them officially rereleased and localized, but that's sadly unlikely. Sadly, my 3DS RPG collection would be a lot better if I impulse bought more of them the way I did 7th Dragon. I think a lot of us assumed the system would remain cheap and abundant the way it was in its waning years.

Yeah I get it because I used to be like you very passionate about gaming.
Now I am not passionate about gaming as I once was. So now if I don't buy a certain title I don't have regrets. Now I just buy games I like & I am only gaming on the switch now for modern consoles. I research & try to prioritize as much as I can when buying games.
