Very true lessons here! I've been doing weekly 'what sold' videos and it's been so helpful in keeping myself accountable. Just because something is cheap and pretty cute does NOT necessarily mean I should buy it and try to flip it. A recent dress of mine took probably 6 months to sell and only went for $13, and I paid $4.79 for it at a Goodwill. I'm working on upping my game and concentrating on higher ticket items to make sure my time is spent wisely.

Not only do some people over/under think it - they don't think at all.. I see way to often people (on Facebook mostly) "I've been selling on eBay for 20 years, I have over 1,000 listings and I haven't sold anything all week! EBAY BAD!" Sorry Susan.. It doesn't matter how long you've been on eBay.. you're "selling" things people DO NOT WANT. If you want constant sales, you really need to pay attention to sell through rates. People cling onto "there's a buyer for everything" way to hard. I don't know about some folks, but I personally don't want to sit on an item for 5+ years just for it to sell for $15..

    • @WellnessWizdom
      @WellnessWizdom 2 роки тому +3

Meanwhile, back in the real world, if those same kind of items were selling last week, they aren't going to stop selling the very next week. That's not how it works at all.

One super cheap (free) way I found to get boxes for golf clubs is stopping by Walmart. They do inventory all the time, and when they stock blinds for windows, they have the perfect size boxes, and they will gladly give them to you. I'm usually there doing retail arbitrage so it costs me nothing extra in time or effort to grab some boxes.

the best momentous exciting joyful part of the video happens toward the end when we see the couple playing Frisbee and having fun at the front yard, the camera shows a nice quiet peaceful civilized neighborhood of single family homes and then the usps mail person drives by with a small truck only to return to deliver a package and briefly lay frisbee with them as well. we get a viewpoint into their personal lives momentarily as they explain for us all the wonderful things that can be accomplished in reselling stuff on ebay, explaining some of the ins and outs of the online ecommerce business. thanks for the time shared and the information is priceless. keep up the good work. blessings to you and family and also shoutout to the dog! hope that you guys find a nicer valuable home soon!

I am also spending too much time washing items and taking the Goodwill stickers off, then photos, writing it all down in my book with what I paid, size and weight etc. Then rewrapping and putting back into the four bins I have. I have to start selling soon. I do not want any more bins in my house. I have never had a garage! Mose is such a beautiful dog ! How I wish our golden mix was still with us. I agree on the inexpensive return. I just had a buyer who had contacted me about a toy I sold that had a corroded battery box. I had sold 6 of these and had not checked all 6, so I just refunded told them to do whatever they want with the item. I had about $3 in each and had sold for $15. So even with the one I still made a profit.

I sold a $79 electric bullet train, 45 days later the guy wanted to return it because it wasn't as described. It clearly states everything wrong with it and what is missing from it and says the buyer is buying AS/IS. Ebay told me I didn't have to refund his money because it was over 30 days. NOW, 3 months later, he is disputing the payment method because the items wasn't as described. It's been ALMOST 90 days. You've taught me so much. Thank you, both!!

Buy a scale, ask nearby friends to save tissue paper/boxes/packing supllies to cut down on ship costs, reevaluate your business plan quarterly, clean out non moving inventory thru markdowns and then garage sale or donate what's left. Find your niche, watch a lot of UA-cam videos to further educate yourself. I've been selling for 10 years and have changed my business model more times than I can count (based on my situation at the time, funds available, space to store stuff, how much profit I want to make etc.). I used to sell clothes and larger items. Now I sell mostly jewelry...my profit margin is better and its something I love. Plus less storage, smaller boxes, easy to pack etc.

My wife and I started reselling on eBay since September of last year and from watching your videos I have learned so much, thank you again. For the longer clubs I just use two of the USPS triangle boxes taped together for the desired length. That way it doesn't cost a thing. When it's cheaper to use UPS, I just cut a 5x5 triangle out of a large shipping box that I cut open. Works like a charm!

Custom SKU use Exception: the Custom SKU info does show up on the Shipping Label page, Except (and this is always a bit annoying) for Variations Listings. On a Variations Listing, the variation chosen by the Buyer appears Instead. For a variation listing you have to leave the shipping page to get the bin location. So, I also put the Bin Location on the last line of the listing description block too.
Why eBay doesn't fix this and show both pieces of needed info on the Shipping Page has always baffled me and I have routinely included it as an example, when eBay sends out Surveys asking Sellers what they could do better.

You and Haley are absolutely my favorite eBay/resale couple! SO much knowledge for free!! If I had to pinpoint one fear about starting eBay is all of the online documentation that you see others using. There just seems to be so much to do online (which I am not great at) and keeping track of everything. I have done some really scary stuff in life (the military, a 30 year nursing career and of course marriage and having children, breast cancer and a laundry list of other life adventures to long to list) but selling online might just be one of my bigger challenges! 😳 HOWEVER, with all of those challenges GOD has been right there with me and guided my way so I fully intend to leave this new adventure in his hands as well. Thank you for all you teach us and for giving the encouragement that some of us need. Bless you both! ❤️

Also, the way the housing market is, stay where you're at and reduce your current mortgage/save money till the market turns down again. It may be a while, but I think it would be financially smarter. Just friendly suggestions from a senior citizen.

Hi! Newish subscriber, just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos, and got a lot out of this one even though I'm not a reseller! I'm a crafter and sell on Etsy (and do a crafty YT channel) and I find what you're saying about not spending time on "wrong" customers really valuable. I recently had a customer return a custom order and I refunded her because I just did not want this person in my life anymore! She'd already been a real pain in the process of making her thing, and then when she didn't like it for a really stupid reason, I had to talk to my husband and a friend who both told me, yes, you're right, she's an idiot, BUT she's not worth your time and energy and getting a bad review on your Etsy store that you'd then have to dispute and on and on it would go.
I just really like your attitude in general. I used to feel kind of grumpy about resellers when I volunteered at my library and organized book sales to raise money for our Friends group to fund library programs. The resellers would always be lined up at the door before the sale started and i used to feel mad that they made more money than we were making on selling the books, but then I realized how much work went into what they were doing and that we at the library were making enough money for what we needed, so why was I begrudging someone else making the money they needed off the same items?
Anyway, just wanted to share those thoughts. Keep up the good work!

I still gave the refund of the shipping charges even though I didn't have to. Sometimes it's not worth the fight or time to save a few bucks. Be kind, move on and make more money. Btw, Haley kicked your butt today with the discs. Love both of you and your vids.

I love watching your videos! I have learned a lot from you both! I was inspired to give it a try (in my spare time)! I have done well! I wanted to share this BOLO with you! It’s a vintage tee-shirt of Wanda from In Living Color. I paid 1.99 at Goodwill hoping to sell for about 50.00. Got home and did comps…It sold twice in Dec. 2021 for 1500.00! I threw it out there for that price and it sold in 30 secs!!!! A once in a lifetime but but I know you are out searching everyday so hoping you will see one! I wish I could send a pic!
Thanks again to both of you for inspiring me to give flipping a try!

Great information to help people with shipping. Dominic Carone in his news video last week I think was talking about the new USPS increase in shipping fees and I thought about you and all of your golf clubs. How is that increase going to affect your sales of them?
I love your embroidery machine. Would love to have one but definitely not in my budget. That t-shirt you held up is actually purple and teal/turquoise. It is a popular color combination and Teal alone has been extremely popular for a number of years now. I know because I own alot of JC Penney Xersion exercise wear in Teal.😅
Thanks for another great video. 👍 I am trying to catch up on videos as I have been away since last year due to health issues. (NO Covid-19 thank the Lord)
Blessings and stay safe 🙏. Beth

Thanks man for mentioning the inventory/item bin question. I'm the one who recently asked and I made another comment on that video and you commented on the other question and just hearted the one about the bins and I must admit I was a little bummed. LOL. Thanks bro.

Well I just went to my listings and I could not find the thing tou mentioned in item details. There is a place to put a UPC number. And you could probably make it work in one of those type places but I see nothing specific for this purpose. Dang

You may have already done a video on this, but if not, maybe a review on postage. And printing your postage and what type of printer you use and where you get those printer label thingys that come out ready to be stuck on a package.
Is this a an eBay thing? And how do you print labels for your other selling partners?
And how do you know how much postage? And how do you buy it and refill? And where do you get your printing supplies and what printer do you recommend? Whew…I’m overthinking. 🙂
Anyway a printing/postage tech update video would be nice.
Subscribed recently and love your stuff.
    Larry

There are NUTS out there. I sold a wooden dollhouse kit, customer paid by paypal within 24 hours, I shipped within 24 hours and left for vacation. When I got home 3 days later, I found negative feedback for non shipment. It said "I paid, they have my money and didn't ship." Because I hadn't responded to her message (There was no internet service where we were on break)that yes indeed it will ship immediately, she negged me less than 48 hours after the auction ended. I disputed the neg with ebay, but she wouldn't retract it unless I also retracted the neg I gave her back. I refused, I want other sellers to beware of nuts like this. She withdrew from ebay soon after with 4 negatives. If you want merchandise in same day or next day delivery, pay for that or don't buy online!

Good luck with your house hunt! Me and my girlfriend recently finished ours and it was tough. We ended up sticking it out long enough and eventually lucking out, finding and offering on a house at just the right time.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have about 5 Combo DVD Players that are just taking up space. I can sell them for about $80 to $100 but after eBay fees , Shipping cost, Cost of goods, and shipping supplies, I will be lucky to make $20 profit. Not to mention taking the time to hook up and test each one.

I was terrified of shipping. I searched shipping for Ebay on UA-cam. Your shipping video came up. I've been a fan ever since. I had to laugh at myself. You commented about how hot it was that day. I thought to myself, ha, you should feel how hot it is in SC! As I kept watching, I caught your hat and realized you were in SC. Anyway, love watching the two of you and your journey and learning things along the way.

Thank Josh - I actually went thru your affiliate link and picked up some clear poly bags. I'm still searching for a good price on those long boxes! I'm tired of frankensteining USPS tube mailers...plus now the prices to ship long items is reDONKulous. I'll keep lookin' though. :)

Excellent tips for folks! And the one where people should get a good grasp is understanding the value of their time. It may sound simple but so many people get tripped up on this and think a loss should never happen.
What do you guys do with product that doesn’t end up selling?
