    Touching toes in itself was a big achievement for me after I started yoga practice. I can touch my toes comfortably now. But I am struggling with ‘Not-Rounding-The-Back’ problem now. You have shared many technical points, with absolute clarity, in this video. I look forward to incorporate them in my practice and hope to improve my forward fold.

    Omg YOURE A WIZARD HARRY! I have stretched on and off my ENTIRE life without any proper training so I was never really super "flexible" nor did I ever really get the main "tricks" flexible ppl aim for. I got my splits for the first time when I was 22 much later in life. I worked for a very long time to be able to touch my toes... my whole life I always thought that was the goals and I just plateaued there. As I got older I realized that "flexible" ppl seem to be much better at it... their chests were right up against their legs and their arms had a whole lot of.. slack?? Past the toes... like WAYYY past the toes. But I had NO IDEA how to get there b/c my whole life it has been, touch your toes, touch your toes! THIS WAS IT... OMG I mean... maybe I'm not as close as I FEEL I am... but the fact that I feel so much closer to that goal MY MIND IS BLOWNNN THANK YOU SO MUCCHHHH 😭😭😭

    Where do you put the weight in the standing forward fold, towards to toes, the heel, or distributed between 4 corners of each foot? Also, why can't I lift the knee caps?

      Yes....a lot of people, especially men...do feel tension there. Just keep at it. Go slow. Use your breath to help you relax into it. Bend the knees some or even place a thin pillow under them. Yin classes may help with that. You gotta hang out there...don't rush out of the posture.

    • @kelsyogi
      @kelsyogi  Рік тому +1

      Yes! I'd say start with sitting forward of the sit bones, slide belly back & reach with your chest. Start practicing your folds withOUT using your hands/arms.

    Kelis, I am unable to do that compression. I am sucking my belly button towards spine but my hips are not rotating. Any suggestions?

    • @kelsyogi
      @kelsyogi  3 роки тому +1

      Where are you feeling the tension? Around the heads of the hip bones? The hamstrings? Keep approaching it a little at a time. Remember to breathe & then let go. A deep fold take time.

    • @karthik12324
      @karthik12324 3 роки тому

      @@kelsyogi I am feeling tensions in my hamstrings. I feel like it's elasticity is restricted. Keeping spine straight I can bend by body parallel to the ground. Not beyond that.

    • @Apeshower
      @Apeshower 3 роки тому +1

      @@karthik12324 I am no yogi and I am in a similar position. Keeping that tension as she describes does help, but many videos and teachers here on YT do suggest a bend in your legs to help bring your lower stomach and thighs closer. The stretch remains…… trust me. I am like a board.

    • @kelsyogi
      @kelsyogi  3 роки тому +2

      At that point I would recruit the help of a strap. Wrap it around the bottom of your feet to help deepen the fold. Maybe elevate your hips a bit on a folded towel too. And be patient but keep at it. It takes time & consistency. 🙏
