Thanks for watching! This video means a lot to me personally, because of everything I've been through in the FGC and as a TO. Huge thank you to everyone who helped with this video. There's a lot more footage from the interviews that I couldn't fit here, so be on the lookout for the full interviews sometime soon!
As someone who recently started going to locals in the AZ scene, I can say its easily some of the best times I've had in recent years. Every Friday I look forward to chilling and playing fighting games with the guys up at locals, getting food with friends, and just having a great time in general. And in terms of how I've improved in the fighting games I played, locals is easily the fastest and best way to improve, as not only are you just playing with other people, you always get immediate feedback as to what to improve on. This video really was a great insight as to what going to locals really has to offer, and I'd love to see more people hopefully come out to see what its all about!
BRO!!! Just watched your video! Legit this is incredible! It blew my expectation out of the water. You did the interviews in such a fluid and creative way! Great job! I can tell you put a lot of love in this video! Thank's for letting me be apart of this experience! You're the best TO in the world!
Great video, I hope it will help people get into their local scene. You said everything that you can benefit from opening up to your local community. I actually made the step months ago, and it was the first time in years of playing fighting games and wanting to be better. If I saw your video a year ago, I would have done it faster. Good job man, and I hope you keep providing us with your awesome content, gameplay guide or else, I can't wait to watch it.
Even if you don't feel comfortable playing, I think you should still go! Watching others, asking questions to help you improve, and being part of that atmosphere is really cool
I would love to go to my local for dbfz, but im get anxious thinking about going alone and not knowing anyone. It makes it hard to talk to people i dont know. I know im not good and the point is to get better, but i dont want to get destroyed and be made fun of
you wont, people is really friendly at locals either for respect to you or for the fgc believe me i was feeling the same way but i went to ceotaku and had a blast i meet a lot of people and make some friends, now i been going to my locals like juicy gaming monthly and is a really good experience
besides my first tournament i got send to losers first match but you keep getting better with time if thats how you feel btw dbfz offline feels incredibly diferent in contrast with online play
@@miguelcieri7882 I've played offline a few times. They are at party type events, so a liquid courage helps. I've done like 2 tournaments. both were fine but my friend came with me. He plays also so it's easier for me to go.
If only my closest local wasn't a 5 hour drive away and they don't play the games I'm into, there are no dbfz, gg, or other anime game players. All they play is sfv tekken and unist, and I only play unist. I try to get people into the games I like but it's really discouraging when there's all these road blocks.
Awesome vid man :)) u seem like a very kind and friendly guy and I wish we can play dbfz one day :P I'm in Canada so dont count on seeing me at ur locals 😅 but I hope we run into each other online
Yes, but know that some local venues may not let you enter. Tucson, AZ had locals at a bar so you could only enter if you were 21. While the Tucson venue has changed, just be sure to know a bit about your local venue before you go.
Ask people in your scene how they communicate mostly (discord, a local facebook group, etc) and try to consistently remind them that it's coming up, linking to your event page. Don't just put it out there once. Remind them when it's a week away. Remind them when it's tomorrow. And be sure to tell them how it went afterwards and that you hope they can make the next one. Don't go overboard spamming people, but try to make your event something that they are occasionally reminded of.
Make one! I know it might sound hard but if there isn’t any you can play at you have two options. Either wait for someone in your area to make one, which can take a long time, or make one! And you can see in the video that you can enter your own tournament and play.
I’ve been having a good time going to weeklies but I have to drive an hour, and honestly where I live people don’t like to make long trips. I’ve been really entertaining the idea of starting one up. It’s just a fear of driving myself into debt doing it

That sucks.
Also it's suprising considering how popular it is.
My locals is exactly the same!
Jump around, I have a main game but I'll mess around with anything I get my hands on.

Great video man. AZ appreciated your hard work
This video really inspired me to create my own tournament! Thank you!
My biggest worry about going to locals is whether I'll be good enough to keep up in the game.

Do you have any tips to advertise your events?

Does anyone want me to start hosting locals for Fighting Games in Michigan? 20 dollar entry fee.
