Nintendo seems overall supportive of tournaments, but you can find some cases (like Pokemon at PAX) where they took legal action and sent a cease and desist. I believe that was because the tournament organizers were issuing advertisements using Nintendo IP where it was unclear the tournament was run by fans and was not official. I tend to think, if you're a small-fry just doing something local, Nintendo won't take the time of day to start any problems..

im looking to host a tournament with microsoft the issue im running into is that im unable to charge an entry fee for the tournament, i'm wanting to do an entry for the prize money so im wondering have you guys ever hosted a tournament without an entry fee if so what was your prize route?
If it's like a 1v1 game for like street fighter make 2 battles who wins goes to the next space for the bracket you're, gonna have to do the bracket yourself.
