My current rotation: Easy days - Nimbus 25; Workouts - Endorphine Speed 2; Long runs - Asics Superblast; Race day - Prime X Strung, and I'm very happy with it
Good balanced review and I pretty much agree with everything you say, Mike. I haven't tried the PX OG but have multiple pairs of the PXS and it's been my favorite road running shoes since I first got it late last year. I hoarded several more pairs when Adidas had it on half-price sale during the holiday season and it'll be a while before I wear them out, even after over a thousand miles on them so far. There was a lot of hype around PX2S after The Running Event late last year and then a letdown due to the weight gain and then a bunch of negative reviews after the "leak launch" in early-August. So, my expectations were tempered but I knew I had to get it. Initially, I definitely didn't like it as much as the PXS v1, but it started growing on me after a few runs, especially after a long run. Now I've got nearly 140 miles on the PX2S and I like it at least as much as v1 but for different type of running: long cruises. The v1 is exhilarating and makes me go fast - often faster than I'd like to for the long runs. The v2 also has this characteristic but it feels good and stable at slower paces. It isn't as crazy bouncy and propulsive as v1 but isn't far off and is more controllable; the fun factor is still there in spades. Now I can enjoy the long cruises without having to be so conscious about stability when turning corners, jumping on/off sidewalks, dodging potholes and cambered surfaces, and going fast downhill like I did with v1. The improved stability makes it feel more like a "normal" stack height (i.e., around 40mm) shoe. As you say, it doesn't have the chaotic and excitement factor of v1, but I do think it's better for moderate-to-slow pace long runs. And, yes, you can still go very fast with it, which is surprising considering its weight. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the PX2S. It could do a lot of things well although there are better options for speed workouts, races, and easy/recovery runs. For me, it's the fun factor that puts the PXS v1 and this version in a category of their own. There is simply no other shoe quite like it.
Wow, your recommended big shoe rotation is my rotation. I’ve used my New Balance More V4 (easy runs), Prime X2 (tempo and intervals) and today wore Saucony endorphin elite at my local 5k Parkrun (48year old 23:30)all this week. These are my three favorite shoes after trying dozens. I love the Prime X2, I have bad knees and a bad back with ankylosing spondylitis which can be one of the most unkind diseases. These shoes make running easy and painless. Earlier today I was pondering if I had to pick just one shoe I’d go with the Prime X2. I also have the Prime1s and although I’ve always had strong legs and no stability problems at all in the Prime1 for some reason I’m still enjoying the 2s more. The added weight doesn’t bother. My PB in my local 5k parkrun has actually been in my PrimeX2 and not the endorphin elites. And on easy days the prime X2 feel like they leave my back and knees a little bit more refreshed than the MoreV4. Also I’m rocking the pink superblasts, they are great, but I like wearing them more as my everyday ‘’lookin good’’ shoe. My wife loves running in her superblasts, even today at our parkrun. Also I tried the new balance fuel cell v2 for 1 hour on a easy run (same colorway you had in your hand) and they absolutely murdered my knees last week. Those shoes I’m returning. I was hoping they would be an upgrade on the morev4, definitely not.
I’ve been absolutely loving the ASICS superblast for all my Long runs and long “quality” workout runs. It’s simply the best at those longer distances! I’ll only typically wear them for anything that is 1.5-2.5 hrs long
I will absolutely be getting this shoe - when it goes on steep discounts like V1 did. Love my Strung V1, but maybe because I got it for under $150. This shoe seems to be a heavier more stable and palatable rendition, which I actually look forward to getting to take some miles and wear off my V1.
The one thing that needs to be mentioned is that it has a little raise in the heel medially. This is probably the best "racing" shoe for overpronators. Its not going to be full protection but probably the best out there for those with who have that issue
I've watched some reviews on this shoe already, but this review I felt gave me a full understanding of what this shoe is/ how it feels vs just a base understanding. Cheers!
Im glad Adidas addressed the outsole. On the first two versions I started to peel off the lateral heel outsole within about 3 weeks. Looks like now its one continuous piece running down the lateral side.

Hey all - question on my Girlfriends behalf: she is a stability shoe runner who barely missed the Boston cutoff this year (qualified but didn’t get in). I think having a plated shoe would give her the edge she needs to PR next season and get in. Would these work for a someone who needs a stability but wants a true race shoe? I have the alpha 1s and I want her to experience the feeling of a super shoe but she would snap an ankle in a shoe like the alpha
I had my PB with the Prime X 1! Great shoes and very durable! My big question today is, should I run my next marathon wiht the Prime X 1 that has at least 400km on it (but looks beand new) or should I take a Vaporfly 3 (that I'm not that confident on it)?
I wonder if there is an increase in plate stiffness for a larger shoe size. That is probably why every runner has a different experience in terms of efficiency.
There is AFAIK and I read it somewhere. Makes sense as otherwise me in a US 14 shoe having the same plate as somebody in say a 7 is going to flex way more. In this shoe the weight makes it very different. 400g or 14 oz for me. 280g shoes as Kofuzi has here are relatively light for me.

What's the potential for rolling over and twisting your ankle using these super shoes by Adidas and Nike? What's the mileage on the Prime X2 Strung before they wear out and lose their effect?
yea i have done 2 runs in mine and the biggest issue has been trying to figure out the lacing in that both runs the plastic piece dug into the inside of my feet. also would say the prime x 2 strung is better in weather conditions than the super blast

Hey , when is the kofuzi non elite top going to come back for sale , i was hoping to get one for my wife for christmas but the shop showing as sold out and not planned to re-stock ? Im in the uk also just to make it a little more difficult :)
I switched to NB SC Trainer ( old version) after running in Prime X OG because the heel was so narrow, would the new Strung 2 feel as stable as the NB?
I’m so tempted by this shoe but such mixed reviews!! I’m size 12 and worry the shoes will be like bricks in my feet Is it worth it for larger feet I can get a discount on them of around 25% off so at £170 are they worth it?
Which would you choose between the prime x2 and the nb supercomp trainer v2, without taking into account the value but taking into account that I want the best to train as someone weighing 80 kg?
if you're concerned that you might bottom out the shoes, I'd go with the prime x2 strung. the SC trainer 2 is a bit more chill though, so if it's something you're using mostly regular runs and not racing, the sc trainer 2 may be the more preferable option
I did my first marathon in the V1 Prime X, got a couple 20+ mile runs in the first strung, and despite the weight I think this will be a pickup for me once it goes on sale. I’m a bigger runner, 190lbs, so the weight probably wouldn’t hinder me the same way, especially if this still works well for that kind of “set it and forget it” long run situation.
I missed if you commented on the change of tread. I run on dirt roads a lot and now looks like the tread from adios pro 3 which gives zero grip on dirt. Can you confirm before I drop 300?
Simply too expensive for me given the alternative cheaper options for training. Even the Adios Pro 3 is a better "deal" and feels pretty great to run in.
You are taking a lot about marathon effort, but my marathon pace is a good minute slower than yours, still great for me you think? Thanks for all the great content, have a great day 😊
Ah I get it, so regardless of the pace the effort is the same and therefore the benefit 👍🏼 I’ve red that some super shoes don’t really give benefits until a certain pace, but I like how you simply it :)
Ko, might that stack height rule apply to an AG podium in an Abbott Major? No money involved but even if I got along with these super high stack shoes (not even close so far), they might notice 😮 and I’d sure hate to risk a DQ if I ever made the top 3.
I’d email the race director to be double sure, but I think you’d probably be ok. The rules specifically disclaim masters, and I don’t think you’ve had to submit your equipment for testing before. But then again, a race like the Masters Championships could be a different kind of thing.
I run in one shoe and 61 and started 4 yrs ago. Not a fast runner but been running everything in Mach 4 and 5. I want something that is more comfortable . I'm a average 10 pace. Would this be better choice for me
Thanks for the great reviews. I PB'd at my last marathon with 3:05 wearing Alphafly 1. Do you think I can beat this wearing Prime X Strung 1? Is it suitable for Marathon? Is it on par in terms of performance with Alphafly 1?
@@kofuzi thnx for prompt reply! Are the Prime X2 hard to get into (i mean to put your foot inside the shoe)? I have heard such rumours...and that it can be tight on the top of the foot but after a few runs they fit great... sounds like a skating shoe or the old leather soccer boots! 😂
I actually have 2 pair of the V1 which I love! probbaly more KM’s in that shoe than any other I own. I had to size down in that shoe to 10 from 10.5. I bought the V2 in both sizes and once again felt I had to go with the 10 the 10.5 felt a tinge wiider but was too long and didn’t get a good lockdown so I would say to be a bit careful with your sizing. Funny thing is I actually returned them at first as the feel was tighter and so stiff that it was cause major heel slippage. 2 Weeks later I was drawn back to the shoe and re-ordered it again in a different color and the fit was actually a bit better for some reason (nothing significant-but enough to make me want to keep them) - I was going to give them the initial run and then i got Noninsertional Achilles Tendinitis and I’m on the shelf for a few weeks if not months. - BUMMER!!!
@@reliableandrew have been running with them over the last 4 months haven't had any issues at all - however they are not as comfortable or as fun to run in as PXS1 - those are by far my favourite shoe, more so than the Asics Superblast as well. To each their own.

the prime x2 strung isn't exactly intended to be used for racing. it certainly can be (I ran Boston 2023 in them), but these are two slightly different use cases. hope that helps.
I bought a pair through the Pro Direct app in the Black Friday sale and they’ve just arrived. 😢 I’m disappointed. The fit is great (half size up from normal), feel really comfortable and bouncy. But when I run up and down the hall, they make a duck quacking sound with every step. Im guessing here, but it could have something to do with compressing the air between the gap through the midsole (??) So I’m sending them back. Has anybody else had this issue???
@@kofuzi yeah, I did do a little run in them, but the quacking 🦆 was still there. Also I found the lacing to be quite tight, there is definitely a lack of padding on top of the tongue and there is a lot of material covering the toe box area and I got a lot of material bunching up.
Can someone explain the reason the rear of the shoes midsole has an offset that almost forces you if your a mid to heal striker to land lateral heal as it’s tipped that way, is it to then roll you through the midsole and off the toe. This is different to my Boston 12 and pro 3’s humhhh ?
I'd have to look up the numbers to verify, but I believe the heel drop is pretty similar across these three shoes. or perhaps I am misunderstanding your question
@@kofuzi meaning the offset lateral to medial rather than the heal drop. Docs of running seem to be the only people to mention or notice and the effect this can have on foot placement, I could help if need medial support but not if land a little laterally all ready... Tha is for reply 👍
There's no charm in feeling like im gonna roll my ankles Mike 😅😂 I like the back being a bit more flared but I agree with you that it feels more clunky due to this.
I’m not sure I understand this question. I raced Boston 2023 in the Prime X2 Strung. So, yes it’s a good shoe for the marathon. The Adios Pro 3 is also a great shoe for racing marathons.
Love your reviews… the part where you said “a great shoe that people can not only just workout in but might want to start racing in” bro this is a $300 race shoe most of us are average runners who this is the raciest of race shoes we would consider buying 😂 for most of us the Boston 12 is more than enough to race in. But maybe I’m just the minority and most of your subscribers are really that serious 😅
Some people like $300 chef’s tasting menus. That’s wasted money on me. Some people like $300 shoes for funsies. But others may think it frivolous. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. One man’s pain is another man’s pleasure. The other thing to consider is you have an unstated presumption that higher prices must necessarily mean faster racing. This shoe is a prime example where that is not the case. Doesn’t mean it’s not be worth the price. see examples above.
funny how people try to ask what kind of shoes do i wear for marathon. i have this this and that shoes.. well u know better which shoes u gonna use.. no need to ask.. u know yourself better than kofuzi here.. your feet your body your shoes.. just sayin 😂

Prime X Stung 1 is on sale in UK/Europe I got mine few months ago on half price
Wow, half price is a great deal
If you were running your first marathon... superblast or prime x2? asking for a friend haha
Superblast
@@kofuzi I appreciate the reply! I mean.. my friend thanks you.
How does rhos shoe compare to the hola cielo x? Looking for most cushion and spring.
Almost buy those at the Berlín Expo (not enough luggage Space). I love my NB super SC 2 and are “only” 180. A lot of $ for almost the same finction.
Thoughts v. Pro 3?
I missed if you commented on the change of tread. I run on dirt roads a lot and now looks like the tread from adios pro 3 which gives zero grip on dirt. Can you confirm before I drop 300?
I commented
Can this shoe be used at work or even loitering in the street, or is it only for racing?
Great review!
I don't know if it's only in the EU but the V1 Strung is selling for 140-180 depending on the size
Adidas pricing fluctuates wildly over time and by region
Simply too expensive for me given the alternative cheaper options for training. Even the Adios Pro 3 is a better "deal" and feels pretty great to run in.
It’s not a budget shoe, certainly
Can you use it as daily trainer?
No, except maybe if you are a giant
You are taking a lot about marathon effort, but my marathon pace is a good minute slower than yours, still great for me you think?
Thanks for all the great content, have a great day 😊
Yes. That is the benefit of discussing effort rather than pace
I always debate what i should do on my long run workouts whether to go with the adios pro 3 or OG prime X. I like both shoes
The longer the workout, the more I’d go with the Prime X. If it’s got more speedy stuff in the workout, then Adios Pro 3.
I run in one shoe and 61 and started 4 yrs ago. Not a fast runner but been running everything in Mach 4 and 5. I want something that is more comfortable . I'm a average 10 pace. Would this be better choice for me
Probably not
Thanks
I wear a 10.5 in Alphafly 1. Should I go with size 10 in PrimeX strung 2?
No
So, are you saying this is a shoenicorn?
*runs away quickly in PXS*
AP3 or PxS2 for FM?
I could see an argument for both, depending on one’s gait/footstrike, but generally, I’d go with Adios Pro 3
Thanks for the great reviews. I PB'd at my last marathon with 3:05 wearing Alphafly 1. Do you think I can beat this wearing Prime X Strung 1? Is it suitable for Marathon? Is it on par in terms of performance with Alphafly 1?
Are these shoes very noisy when we’re running with them?
No
can you run a Boston qualifier in this shoe or would that not count?
yes. as long as you don't register as elite
Is this height elevated shoes? How many inches these shoes can add in height?
I have no idea. I suppose it may depend on how much you weigh and compress the foams?
True to size? I wear US 12 in Saucony Endorphine Speed 3 n New Balance Supercomp v2...same size in these beauties?
I have the same size shoe in all three
@@kofuzi thnx for prompt reply!
- BUMMER!!!
Hope you've made good recovery from the tendinitis, 5 months on.
@@reliableandrew have been running with them over the last 4 months haven't had any issues at all - however they are not as comfortable or as fun to run in as PXS1 - those are by far my favourite shoe, more so than the Asics Superblast as well. To each their own.
@@Illuminatus1978
Hey, good to hear about your recovery.
Hmm...you preferring the PXS1 to the Asics Superblast is a further testament to the widespread popularity, but more importantly, confidence in the PXS1's performance!
I'm in the PXS2 and liking it a lot...everyone's saying it's 'too heavy for a marathon', alas.
@@reliableandrew I wouldn't wear the PXS2 for the Marathon, I wear adios pro 3 for that but these are all great trainers
@@Illuminatus1978
Understood...will have to buy one more pair for racing then.
I have the Nike Air Tempo Next % Flyease version (there's a blast from the past) and the PXS2...so...will be the Adios Pro 3 or the Saucony Endorphin Elite?...for racing.
If only I had the money... maybe selling my kidney is an option 😂
Love to try this , but way too pricey to ‘try’ maybe if find on big sale at some point ….
Adidas puts things on sale in seemingly random ways. It could happen
If I wear this shoe and qualify for boston am I disqualified?
No
this or Alphafly 3 as race shoe in marathons?
the prime x2 strung isn't exactly intended to be used for racing. it certainly can be (I ran Boston 2023 in them), but these are two slightly different use cases. hope that helps.
Would you recommend these shoes as a Race shoe?
I raced Boston in v1 strung this year. I felt like it got to be a bit heavy towards the later stages.
@@kofuzi Thank you I appreciate your response do you recommend the adios pro 3? Over the prime x2? Or the prime x1
prime x1 (not strung version) may be my favorite of the prime x shoes. but for racing, I like the Adios Pro 3 more than the Prime X
So youre saying non elite pros can use this for lets say the NY marathon?
absolutely
I bought a pair through the Pro Direct app in the Black Friday sale and they’ve just arrived. 😢
I’m disappointed.
Maybe try running with them in actual running conditions first?
Need those shoes and I'll fly like the wind
There's no charm in feeling like im gonna roll my ankles Mike 😅😂 I like the back being a bit more flared but I agree with you that it feels more clunky due to this.
I literally tell brands, “if it feels like you’re going to hurt your ankles, you’re on the right track”
Good shoe for a marathon or the Pro 3's
I’m not sure I understand this question.
I raced Boston 2023 in the Prime X2 Strung. So, yes it’s a good shoe for the marathon.
The Adios Pro 3 is also a great shoe for racing marathons.
@@kofuzi so i meant what shoe would be better to run a marathon in?
@@kofuzihow about Hoka Rocket x2 ?
Epic chickens!!! 😂
They’re chill out here
Who’s enjoying the first Prime X Strung? 😮💨
I think my favorite may have been the non-strung
What if I just wanted to use these for working? lol
Prime 2 Strung
Prime 2 Furious
This is good
Can I put insoles into this
Absolute joke that something like this is priced more than the alphafly 3. Ridic
Yo, what’s going on!!!
Yo Luis!
More expensive, more weight, stable. Adidas has taken the fun factor from the PXS 1 which I loved. Not for me.
Bro it’s still 50 mm. Nice try
what size is this? My number is 42, should I use 43 in this model? Are they tighter?

If the prime x sprung 2’s upper is the same as its predecessor lack of breathability I’m out
