In today's video i take the Adidas Prime X 2 Strung for a 20k run and share my first impressions on the running shoe with not one but two carbon fibre plates. Despite the weight gain, I see this as a big update on the previous model and it really pushes the boundaries of what a running shoe can do in terms of performance. Glad you like this crazy over-the-top running shoes, Ben. I'm a huge fan of v1 and have multiple pairs with well over 1,000 miles on them and didn't think v2 would measure up - mainly due to the weight gain - but, after nearly 100 miles on it, I'm convinced now that it's an improvement. The bounce and propulsion are more forward-directed than on the v1 and the stability is also much improved although I didn't find stability to be too much of an issue on v1. These factors, in my mind, more than make up for the weight gain. Now I can run more carefree and enjoy the long cruises without having to be mindful about stuff on the road that can affect stability. It's a great set-and-forget (moderate-to-race-pace) kind of shoe that makes long distance cruises very pleasurable while protecting the legs and feet. I went on a 30km run last weekend with the v2 and loved every moment and step with it.
Thanks for sharing such an insight into these shoes. This will definitely be useful information for others considering them. Totally agree with you in terms of propulsion. I think the stability results in more of that energy return being transferred forward. Thanks for your comment
I bought a pair through the Pro Direct app in the Black Friday sale and they’ve just arrived. 😢
I’m disappointed. The fit is great, feel really comfortable and bouncy. But when I run up and down the hall, they make a duck quacking sound with every step. Im guessing here, but it could have something to do with the gap through the midsole (??) So I’m sending them back. Has anybody else had this issue???
@@g.a.v.ddamn that’s not good. Maybe you have hardwood floor that interacts with the shoe making quack sound?
@@HandlesHaon Any hard floor and they starting quacking. Lino over concrete, laminate and tiles. I didn’t want to take them outside and test them as I had decided they might as well go back. On carpet, they were fine. So I assumed the noise would be there out on a run.
@@g.a.v.d good decision then. These shoes aren’t allowed in marathons and other events anyways 😂 anyways I have adidas running shoes and they have about 200 miles on them. Work amazing.
You are so lucky to be able to try out all the new shoes! Love the reviews keep up the great content!
It’s always a good day when Ben uploads
Much appreciated Isaach 🙌🏻
love the review and these shoes... just ran a mara PB over the weekend at melbourne marathon in these and they just felt awesome and protected... didn't notice the weight gain at all...
Best of luck this weekend Ben, really enjoy watching your videos. 💪🏻
Appreciate it!
I’ve used the primeX for 6/7 months now..and i can tell it is hell of a shoe..can’t immagine the new version of it 🤩 must be mind blowing 🤯🚀
You have have a spin in Kenya 🇰🇪
Best of luck Ben 🤞🚀
Love it as always Ben! Due to the stability and propulsion, would these be more suitable for those who typically require a structured shoe?
Really enjoyed my Cloudmonster’s and Alphafly but, have always generally been an Adidas man and don’t like the weight / lack of mid sole on the Alpha’s!
Thanks Ben, another great video and very informative. Can I ask, what's your thoughts on companies charging £250+ for modern super shoes?
Where did you get the clear drawers for your shoes from? Great video btw, took these shoes to the Chicago Marathon… absolutely adore them
Great review. I quickly tried the shoe in store and the upper was not my cup of tea. I got the same hotspot, and the upper just felt a bit too rough. No padding in the "tounge" made the laces press into the top of my feet. With such a high stack I prefer to be more locked in.
Weird question but can I ask you what glasses you wear? I'm looking for a similar pair. Very cool.
Speaking about the appearance - what a gorgeous pair of shoes!
Yeah I mean, come on. What’s there not to like. White red blue. Make you 5cm taller 😂
Hi, i curently use the saucony endorphin speed 3s for like mid-fast to fast running and the NB 1080s for slower. My 1080s are sorta worn down so what would you recommend as for more daily trainers that can do all around? I want to just move my speed 2s to like races and not everything as it doesn't do it for me on longer runs.
Hey Ben! Question! Are you far from qualifying for "elite" runner status? I know in Canada we have elite A and B, but how does it work in the UK? Cheers!
I can see in your glass cabinet that you have Hoka rocket x2 and VP3. What ones do you prefer for a HM?
Hey man is the stability improved enough that you could use these on compact dirt trails. You did the Mallards Pike Park run which is where I do most of my running. Reckon you could get away with these there?
Has the 100 mile review been made yet? I'm itching to purchase these shoes 😊
It looks like a great fun shoe. I wish I could justify buying a pair with all the renovations in my house right now.
hi ben, please make a video on lower leg workout :)
very nice review from a guy who really knows what he's taking about. The shoes? I have tried it also. I heard a lot about how unstable was the FIRST edition of this shoe.. This new version, at least for me, is quite the opposite. I felt comfortable and safe running in this shoes. very happy..
Really appreciate your comment. Glad to hear your enjoying them too. Surprisingly stable I’d certainly agree
Can this shoe be used at work or even loitering in the street, or is it only for racing?
Me gusta mucho el diseño del x2 strung. Será que si me servirían para el usó de caminar? Ya que además me ayudaría estatura.
What kind of shoe boxes are those?
Considering on getting these but might get the 1s as they are a lot cheaper. Good luck for this sunday!
I’d say that’s a good choice. I would however just note that this version is alot more stable that the previous if that’s a concern at all.
Where’s the hoodie from?!
There are showing up for $300…are they even released yet? Insane price 😳
Nice review.. I'm curious if some was trying to, say, get a Boston marathon qualifying time, if the shoe's "legality" would matter?
No, it’s only matter if u are competing for race win and podium
In theory it wouldn’t matter no. The legality is only for athletes who compete at the elite level under the world athletics rules and regulations for shoe legality. For now at least, you can wear whatever you like but maybe roller blades would get you disqualified so don’t get any ideas 😂
I think, of its illegal for elites to race on them, then it's not the right thing for anyone to race in them. It's illegal for elites to take EPO, but does that mean its right for amateurs to take it?... Obviously not. In no other sport is this distinction between elites and amateurs made, why in running?
Ben, can I ask you a question? When you do intervals how long does it take your Curos watch to adjust to the change in pace? By the time my watch catches up to my pace it is already time to recover. In other words it takes about 150m-200m in a 400m sprint to my watch to catch up. Anything less than 400m sprints is really hard to get an accurate speed workout.
For short reps on the track such as 200s 400s, your right any watch will struggle to give you an accurate pace live given how short of a duration the rep is. I’ve found that track mode however makes this much more accurate when looking at the session splits after the workout
Ben! We never got your full review of the VF3 🤔
That’s a very good point. Will get on this very soon
its not illegal because its so fast. its illegal because its so tall. but amazing review! been wanting to hear your opinion on these bad boys 🔥
These shoes look insane!
They certainly feel it
Can this shoe be used at work or even loitering in the street, or is it only for racing?
How Berlin Marathon prep sir. 😄
I’m having a hard time understanding the purpose of this shoe if it has all of this technology but heavy and not great for racing. I wanted this to replace my Alph Flys 2’s.
Can I get this on aMazon
Emil Zatopek used only one shoe....Can this be that one shoe for me
It’s a very heavy shoe and not banned bc it is fast. It’s banned bc of the 50 mm stack. Saucony endorphin pro 3 is faster shoe as is the Nike alpha and vapors. This shoe is actually less bouncy than the first version
Not banned due to speed, banned due to stack height. Catchy thumbnail tho 😜
Banned due to having two plates and 50mm of stack didn’t quite have the same ring to it 😂
@@BenIsRunning 😁
your reaction in the thumbnail 🤨😂
😂
When's the coros pace 3 review coming?
Just shared my thoughts on Instagram. Will certainly get round to it soon in video format too :)
Would you wear them for a marathon?
What's the mileage expected from these? Can any comment on version 1 ?
I think one can expect a minimum of 500 miles, probably 700 and maybe even more. I have multiple pairs of v1 and they feel even better after 200 miles than out of the box with virtually no wear on the outsoles. Many runners have also said the same about Adios Pro 3. The Adizero shoes get better and better with more mileage and they really last. The PX2S seems just as good. The build quality is superb.
I’ve ran 300km in my first pair of prime x and showing very little wear and tear. The outsole coverage looks like it should last a minimum of the 300-400mile mark but I guess only time will tell. Maybe others have ran more in the first version and could share there thoughts?
that hoodie is cute af, where is it from?
Thank you! It was sent to me by a Australian subscriber. It’s by his brand lob athletic apparel. 120 followers on ig.
they are fast!
What sub £100 daily trainer would you recomend?
Puma Deviate Nitro 2 on sale
You need to go and try different brands on your foot to tell wich match you. I like Saucony endorphines 3
I’d personally look at the hoka Mach 4 or Nike invincible 2. Both previous editions to this years updates but now heavily discounted.
They on sale for 200 now
I have them since the release. I did few longer runs around 4.05-4.15/km and few 1 km sessions below 3.20/km each and I cannot stand the weight of this shoe. The shoe is interesting in terms of feeling and comfort, but probably aimed for runners over 80kg of body weight, else your legs are gonna be really tired.
I hardly could notice it personally. Only around 10grams heavier than my usual dailies but maybe I’ll notice it more for longer runs at higher paces. Would certainly like to have seen this shoe trend in the opposite direction when it comes to weight mind. Guess all that tech has come at a cost
@@BenIsRunning I agree. Personally I don't like the direction, as it's pretty hard currently to find a good light shoe that is versatile enough to stand daily long runs and doesn't break up after 30kms. I stuck with racers for normal and speed trainings this season: Vapors 3 and Adios 3. Plus the new Bostons 12 for a really long runs over 20kms, they are great for that purpose, the weight is closer to Primes, but the shoe is more stable and differently converts the energy that goes from the forefoot in comparison to PX2. What I would take from Prime X 2 is the uppersole which is constructed from 'prime' stiff materials and covers and protects my narrow feet perfectly.
Who makes the hat you wearing ?
Team vaga! Ben15running gets you 15% off :)
To call 4:12 an easy run pace is just crazy. Thats my max effort in a 5k... 😔
Hi ♥️🇲🇦♥️ben
I'm on wave 3 6118 😬😬
Good luck
MY LUCKY NUMER IS 44, YOU GONNA SMASH THAT RACE!!!!!!
Love that. Thank you 😂
'elephant in the room' means something other people *aren't* talking about, not things they are talking about.
Heavy as a brick. 🧱
WA shoe rules trickle down to UKA and HCAF rules. Illegal. Don’t be that person that wears them in a race. You don’t need to anyway + there are much better options for racing.

Can’t be cheap
