Jay, thank you so very much for these videos of yours For all of them, actually, but for these SC2 ones in particular I got stuck on the final WoL mission Considered it so hard that I played it 'a teaspoon per hour', as we say here in Russia God knows how many times I had to restart the whole damn thing Your videos helped me a lot I used them as a reference, to see how well I was doing so far My wife helped too, heh She inspired me to beat the very last portion of the mission 'Come on, how much more do you need to survive? Like, five minutes?' And after that, I finally did it Thank you very much for the inspiration, good sir:3
Every time when I hear Matt Horner referring Jim as "Commander" in-game, It kinda reminds me of the Playable Terran Commanders from the previous installment
Thank you for the video! It helped me to complete this hell (hard). Third time was successful, but too close again. And I still can’t understand how you completed so easily.
5 Missile Turrets NW of the artifact and Hel's Angels are all the anti-air the artifact needs. Except against the Leviathan, where you need the battlecruisers or more vikings/wraiths.
I was a both a bit nervous about this series and the future HOTs playthrough since you've stated disdain for the plot and I am soo tired of hearing people bitch and belly ache, but you've kept up a good (and even humorous!) attitude for most of the LP and eve in one of the later missions (can't remember which) you said how there is little point to bitch since everything that can be said has been said. So I can confidently say I can't wait to see your HOTs Playthrough.
Well it's good to hear you weren't disappointed. It's true I don't care much for the plot compared to Brood War, but I also think both sides of the debate have merit. A little complaining here and there can be both insightful and humorous, but too much just gets tiresome for viewers, I know.
Oh, come on, bitchings is fun! For example look at this cute, awsome last few seconds of the last cinematic, Jim is happy, Sarah purifief and then... nothing! Hots plot arrives like from nowhere! De-infested Kerrigan? Ha-ha-ha, fuck you player!
I just beat this stage without ghost and hive mind emulaters myself but I had a much tougher time than you because my Vikings weren't upgraded. It really makes a significant difference.
(clap, clap, clap) congrats on beating the campaign, commend you for beating this on brutal, something i can never do, congrats and i look really forward to seeing Hots now, all the problems you had, i had as well which is why i could never beat it, regardless, you did great man
Dingo dyno Hey thanks! I'm taking the time to go through my videos now to read all the comments you've left over the past few days and I want to say thank you for sticking around! You've been watching since Mass Recall came out so I'm surprised you aren't sick of me yet, haha.
JayborinoPlays ha i actually started watching since i saw you're uncommenated playthrough of Subjection, then i started Mass recall, and then i watched all you're Donkey Kong playthroughs, i hope this dosent sound groupie-ish but im one of you're number 1 fans, (no homo) XD i think if you had more viewers, you can be the next ***** or *****
Honestly, after the chaos of the Brood Lords, I would see All In Ground as a picnic. Just need to prepare for that one massive wave of like, five thousand overlords that come in for a backdoor drop.
Yeah, I think chaotic is definitely the best way to describe this mission... There's no hope of maintaining a solid defense on all four fronts and I just sort flailed about hoping to have Vikings in the right places. I recorded the ground version a few days later and, like you said, it felt like a break after this!
Sometime last weekend I think, maybe even a little earlier. I fluctuate with how much I record at once and how much of a backlog I may have dependent on how I feel after getting home from work. You can check in this video when I had to load, I'm pretty sure there's a time stamp.
+Blazieth prepare for the overlord drop? lol just call down the vikings and you have all the anti air defence you'll ever need. If some manage to drop on you they will be in range of your siege tanks if you place them correctly and don't wall off too far out.
This was my first time playing RTS after watching a friend play command and conquer but told me starcraft was way better, (he has an xbox I have pc) maybe it's because I have never played SC1 or warcraft but I loved this story and the gameplay is phenomenal. Very good guide, I refused to play pu*** normal and struggled on these last missions until I found your commentated playthrough. Many thanx.
Youre blowing my mind dude. I play like an old grandpa lol. I dont use the keyboard. I also dont know how to automate my units like youre doing. I have to build things and send them to do stuff one by one. I also barricade the left and right flank much differently. My bunkers are smaller than yours but I use a lot of them to plug all of the entrances in many layers and then make a pool of soldiers behind them. I can beat it on normal but I havent tried the higher difficulties yet. I hope to get as good as you eventually but I'm gonna need some tutorial videos.
Haha. Same here. Though I am slowly getting the hang of the hotkeys, I still haven't beaten this level yet because I keep waiting for stuff to happen. Which is... kinda sad. 😂 By the time the artifact reaches 90%, half my base is wiped out clean. Need to work another strategy.
All-in Air is one hell of a mission to do without HME. I don't think I ever tried to beat it like that, I just go ground cause it's easier and I don't really want to bother.
Omg i just realised how korean i am.... i totally suck at sc, bottom 1% in korea but i had no trouble with brutal difficulty here;; minor micro control and ability to manufacture whilst fighting is the key as the mineral and gas acquiration is so good
Funny as of TODAY with all game patches ( I don't have legacy of void yet, but do have HOTS), I always only get two battlecruises on brutal on this exact mission. I Did Shatter the Sky to prevent dealing with Broodlords, damn basterds.
@@_NUzi_ yeah, as the story should imply. But what i'm talking about is that the game used Nova's model in the dialogue animation, which is why "Sarah" looked exactly like Nova.
I actually find air to be easier, as you can mostly just build Vikings, where as in ground, once my Banshees take out the Nydus Worms, more spawn in. Also, my honest opinion on this game. The plot is full of holes, for example, why doesn't Narud go to the. Tal'darim and say "Hey, give me the artifacts" Or why Raynor doesn't help Typhus. Or why Raynor gets pissed at Tychus when he wants to make sure Raynor doesn't get killed. Or why Zeratul is no longer a bad ass character anymore. Or how the Spartans exist even though Kerrigan killed the whole fleet. Or why we don't get them in Brood War. Dammit Blizzard!
Darkrai211 Narud isn't manipulating all of the Tal'darim. There's a reason why the Tal'darim seen in Heart of the Swarm have a different scheme to the ones in Wings of Liberty. Also some of the more minor hiccups I can forgive more because a lot of the Blizzard employees working on StarCraft II were not around for the original game, and there would be so much to take in to ensure that no retcons, errors or holes appear in developing StarCraft II, which is a much bigger game than the 1st game (well, some people would probably disagree in a sense).
Caleb Jaaniste well said, besides the game developers released a Q&A serious to clear up all these questions, but some consider it writers spiting of technicalitys to clear up there plot holes but you can see them if you want, there up on the Blizzard main site of SC2
Ground version is cake - place your siege tanks well on high ground, three or four per bulk and they'll kill all the Zerg from distance before they could reach them. Banshees on the way, also don't forget to use Siege Breakers and Dusk Wings. This is easy. I see on air version I have to use a lot more units. I use lots of Thors, especially in The Gates Of Hell, so they can help a lot here too. But unfortunately didn't manage to buy the pirate battlecruiser to make things easier. Not that I'd use him a lot. So I guess Thors, wraiths and goliaths are the key here, as well as battlecruisers.
I watched this just to see what I was going up against on Normal difficulty for my first time, the wiki makes this mission seem like you have to micromanage the shit out of everything
I fought the all air mission and the leviathan I didn't pay close attention so I sent in every air unit I had and I didn't bother checking my units so I just see it drop dead because I used all battlecriusers
I would probably have tried it out for a couple of my playthroughs. It does work exceptionally well for quick movement and reinforcing of your main force, it's just at that point in the campaign, Factory and Starport units are a much more important part of your army. That being said, Tech Reactor is just so darn awesome not to do have, so I would probably stick with that for the most of my playthroughs.
I guess it is useless compared to lab. reactor, mostly because it is only works for barracks. I wonder what were they thinking for, at least 40% of all zerg/tech artifacts upgrades are garbage, i dont even start about armory upgrades.
Even if it was just the Barracks and Factory that had drop-pods, and not the Starport as well, I'd probably consider them half the time. Air units are air units, so not being teleported to their rally won't be much of a disadvantage. However, since the commonly used Factory units are slow/expensive/arduous, having them drop-podded would be great. If SCVs could be drop-podded, that would be good as well because they could get to their repair locations quicker or expansions quicker.
I still think the ground version is easier. The waves are endless and vikings have less range than tanks they do take damage from air units even if upgraded and you can't make a choke point to defend. You also have to deal with long range air units which is annoying micro. Siege tanks can just hide behid a planetary fortress choke and kill nearly 100% of enemies all day long while you go make coffee and have lunch. If it wasn't for kerrigan and her bullshit abilities you can literally just make a siege wall and leave with a few scv's on auto to repair the damage from that stray zergling that got through and did like 2 damage on your fortress once every 10 minutes. I have done this on Brutal now and the only thing is you need a few ghosts to snipe kerrigan occassionally.

Leviathan should attack the artifact from the northwest in this mission. Several times. No Omegalisk though as far as I'm aware.
