- The latest main series installment of the Pokemon franchise has been out for almost a whole calendar year now. As we rapidly approach the release of the new DLC, take a trip with me as I break down what I liked and disliked about these titles.

i like that we had time to spend with these legendary pokemon, i was sick of just having a dungeon just to find a powerful pokemon that is well still a pokemon these ones at least have some personality to them some cuteness factor that lets them stand out to me thats just my opinion though.
I agree overall of good and bad being present but i am on the seemingly opposite side of this spectrum. I hate linear games, I prefer freedom of open world to the linear gameplay. I prefer level scaling for sure, i also would like to be able to be an anti hero instead of a hero explicitly. I also would like more customization for sure. I loved the story and I didn't play it day one, i only began playing it middle of this year and the glitches/bugs were not present for me. The story was amazing. I honestly was going to quit pokemon if this version didn't redeem sword and shield's failures but they drew me back in here. I did all the classes and such, I do however miss the trainers engaging me but also like the prospect of being able to decide when you fight them. I think the level of enemies should scale based upon the pokemon in the first slot because then the player can decide challenge level instead of scaling based upon story progress or highest level in team. Overall I hope for a game similar to gale of darkness or colosseum where you can choose your moral alignment somewhat maybe even become the leader of the antagonist team if player chooses. I don't dislike freedom because life is to me confining enough. Overall, i enjoyed violet version for sure. Well written and executed video.

@@mrgaleer agreed the level scaling needs to be there if they keep with the open world route for sure, it made the game still linear sorta because I had to look up a guide to know which order to do things so it was kinda annoying.
The first time around, I loved not knowing the levels of the wild Pokémon / Trainers. It was a completely new experience having the freedom to go out of my depth without being blocked off by a sleeping Snorlax or an NPC. Gave my whole plythrough a lot more tension and adventure than I’ve ever experienced in this franchise.
Unfortunately, once I went back for subsequent playthroughs, I realized that (now that I know the general order and levels) I ended up automatically adjusting my route to hit everything in the “proper” order. So that open world freedom is only organic for a blind playthrough.
That’s why I think they should keep the open, non-linear exploration but have **gyms** scale to your progress. That way you get the best of both worlds, and Gym Leaders using different teams based on the challenger’s level is canon anyways.

PLEASE GF, don’t go back to the way it was before. I find it hilarious that linearity was one of the most common gripes among Pokémon fans, stretching all the way back to Gen 5, but now they all want to revert back. This fandom is weird.

Always reminded how doomed this franchise is because it can take so little to impress people despite some of the worst things these games will put you through as a product. All it has to do is jingle those keys in the right way and these games will successfully sell you content they removed on purpose
I was confused on the map of Pokemon Violet and Scarlet and had trouble finding my way and ending up back tracking a lot!
The open world was nice but there wasn't much to do in it other than collect Pokémon if there is more to do than I haven't run into it yet as I just left the Academy and I am early in my quest.
Things I did like were the large amount of Pokemon you can get and I love the Flamingo pokemon!

Emerald, and Generations 4 and 5 are the best.
Anime graphics should have been used in any Japan-based video game for better potential for smooth gameplay, stable physics, and plenty of content. The characters should look appealing, even being sex dimorphic with sex-locked clothes and hair. The arching head and tall eyes design is the best in making characters look cute.
The school setting contradicts the open-world setting and theme that the schools work in the old Pokémon games since the schools are just minor places you can visit like they are training modes. All the routes and cities open is how you can make an open-world video game while still having some linear elements like with the gyms you can only get in based on how many badges you have.
The Exp. Share should be an option to level up Pokémon evenly, and just over-level the different ID Pokémon.
Abilities no longer work in the overworld, which takes away the Pokémon-getting variety. Now we are back to how the Abilities work in RS and FRLG.
Despite Game Freak being so lazy in copying the Pokémon models and moves from the 3DS games, they did not try and copy the male and female models to change the hair, eyes, and clothes as a way to create new characters. I heard that making ugly characters is hard to do because they waste memory size.
Inti Creates, M2, Arika, and Code Mystics can probably make Pokémon games better-especially with anime graphics that would allow potential for the Regional PokéDex, National PokéDex, Abilities working in and out of battles, sex dimorphic characters, sex-locked clothes and hairstyles, overworld Pokémon, Loto-ID, rematches, Battle Frontier, reusable TMs, TRs, HMs, arcades, farming, and others.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the worst in the series for being ugly and broken, as well as being porikore as the Japanese say.

The games are overall bad with some minor pros the music and team star being the only good pros. The designs suck overall. This generation is the worst games ever. Not even a challenge i want the old Pokémon style back linear path set adventure etc. Screw school life Pokémon games shits boring asf.

The only people putting a best in that blank space are blinkered Pokémon obsessives who don’t play any other games so don’t see how poor they are and what a truly great game is, or the clinically insane. I am a big Pokémon fan, been there from the very start, but these are an embarrassing insult to gaming and the Pokémon company should be ashamed of themselves. Demand better people. Just realised the good portion of this video is far too big in comparison to the bad and ugly, this does not correctly represent how poor these games are. The path of legends was the best part of the game but in most open world games that would have been one, or maybe a few related, side quest not one of the main pieces of content of the game. I’ve been writing different parts of this whilst watching your video and at the end I can see you’re part of the problem with why the series is not as good as it should be. That summary was pathetic.
