I'm spending a lazy day reviewing favorite Woodworking videos. Thank you again for all these wonderful ideas. After a five or so month wait, the Incra TS-LS Joinery System arrived. It's rail mounted to the sides of my 31" x 80" workbench with a Makita Jobsite saw dropped into the center. Wonderful to have Incra Positioner. Once I figure out what pattern to use placing dog holes with the Parf Guide, I may remove the trails and mount my Incra Positioner as you did and drop a Micro-jig/Parf Guide attractive down one side. Glad I found your channel. Lots of great tips for stuff. My Kapex fence is higher then your version, but you just give me so many different ideas...Keep it up. My new favorite channel this week!
Great video! Thank you very much for sharing. I myself am trying to get away from my table saw as much as possible now as well (for several different reasons, but the biggest is safety due to some recent, very knarly kick backs that I'm lucky to have not been injured from). I've been looking for ways to rebuild my miter saw table and adding some sort of measuring device, as most of the wood I cut is roughly 13" (325'ish mm) and under. I will be implementing all your suggestions here, thanks again! Keep up the great work! I thought the music was ok, not the greatest. With that said, I don't really care what music is playing, as i'm here to listen to you and learn and not listen to music. Only reason I'm saying this is because of the comment below vvvvv.
Thank you for your videos. I have enjoyed the ones I have seen thus far. Liked both shop tour videos. I would be interested in hearing a bit about you and your woodworking journey. One comment with regard to safety which I see you stress; wearing gloves may not be the safest when working with machinery which may snag the glove and pull your hand into a spinning blade or bit. Once again I have really enjoyed your videos and I admire your attention to detail and your organization. Best regards. Paul. Long Beach California USA
I sure do wish you had been more specific about some of the stuff you used, like that clamp, and the piece you got at home depot!! I do love your videos, as as they give me great ideas for my pretty well outfitted shop. (i have a lot of the stuff you do, or very similar stuff, and im glad you use the incra ls, which is one of my favorite tools. I have a lot of stuff from incra. Being in the USA, in NY, i cant seem to find the black high density MDF over here, so i have been using Corian (i got it really cheap). I made your zero clearance insert for my Unisaw last night, and it has made my dust collection SO much better. I had tried a hood above, which helped, by no where near what yours did. I like your "out of the box" approach, and you get me thinking. Thanks so much!
Love your Channel. How I am very new to woodworking and do not thank I could repeat what you are building, for example your drill press and miter saw bench and the upgrades you added. I don’t have the confidence yet to strike out on my own without having measured plans. Instructions would be your videos. So what I am asking is do you sale plains for any of your benches, and the Accessories. If not I understand. The layout of your shop with the wall storage is very nice. I really like the the use of the black MDF.
like the ideas but have struggled with a zero clearance insert on my Dewalt. The insert blocks the suction path so that I end up with saw dust blowing back. How did you resolve that or is it perhaps a function of my saw? Thanks.
Clever upgrades. I wonder though at the height of your fence. What do you do if you wanted to cut a compound miter cut on say a 20 cm wide (or wider) piece of crown molding? Do you have a higher fence for those situations?
Nicely done and cool idea. i think i will build one of these for my ks60 too. and i really really like the black mdf worktops in your shop. never seen like this. i got some leftovers of black mdf, perhaps i will also start to build my shop a little more stylish with this material ;) thx and keep the good work up...
Thanks for your reaction Eber, I think it is nice when thinks are, apart form practical also a little bit stylish. To many DIY projects focus just on the practical part. I really like it when thinks are nice. And the black MDF is indeed awesome! Thanks Dennis
id have to make a lot of inserts with how many different blades I use. I want a kapex but I think it is limiting to fine stuff better than my dewalt 12" slider but cant chop as much material, as the other day I had to cut 6 inch thick material and it was hungry for more. Very nice design and keep the videos rolling.
I'm just getting into woodworking and I've found your videos a great help. I think it would be better without the background music. Thanks for sharing your skills
Hi Dennis, what do you ref accurate stop block & measurement if you want to cut a piece that's shorter than the start of the Incra fence on either side?
That is something I still have to do. I am thinking of making a T-track top of the fence with a sliding stop and a ruler against the fence. But on this moment, the old fashion way with a ruler and pencil and than cut against the line. With the festool I can make pretty accurate cuts against a line.
Great ideas thanks. One thing to mention is that for the zero clearance blocks on the fence if instead of the dovetail you used a dado or 90deg slot the width of your plywood stock you could use plywood blocks as sacrificial blocks for infrequently used angled cuts including tilted rather the rotation mitres. But hey I guess you could even batch a load of dovetailed ones too? Anyway love the ideas and yes at least lower the volume of the music so it sounds less like a commercial!
Hi Ruaridh, thanks for you comment and your suggestion. You are right that you can use different methods to fit the mid section. I choose dovetail for a reason. As long that I leave one side of the miter fence in place, I always secured that the blad will be right in the middel of the saw blade. Because the dovetail connection gives no play for the midsection to move to left and right. That does not mean that a dado can work as well. And about the music. Consider it done. That was a rookie editing mistake! Thanks for you comments and for watching my channel. Best regards, Dennis
Yes it is part of a Hinge. I do not know how they call it in English. In The Netherlands they call it "plaatduim" perhaps you can google it and you know what it is you are looking for.
I must compliment you on your excellent video Dennis it's nice of you to spend the time and give people information and actually do a demonstration of the product that your using.. I do have a question about that MDF product that you used on a zero clearance insert and I'm assuming it's the same product that you using on the miter saw upgrade? I live in the United States so I know everything can be a little more difficult because people here don't want to adapt to the metric system. People tend not to like change lol I do have another question I was looking at buying some power tools from China and I couldn't get any straight answers on if there able to be converted to the American power standard of 110 or 220. If you had any insight on that that would be great to know. Keep up the excellent work I'm guessing you're either an engineer or an architect because you're meticulous in your details? I wish you the best with your channel
Hi Jr, thanks for your comment. My zero clearance is painted mdf, but i will change that to the same mdf as my miter saw. This is harder and smoother over time when using it.I can not answer your power tool question. I am sorry. For my work i come from a very different background. So if I can make it, everybody can😁. You just keep your head cool, focus and have some confidence. Best regards, Dennis
@@HookedonWood Dennis thank you for taking the time out to answer my message.. for me it was somewhat different my father was an engineer at Grumman first he worked on the Apollo lunar module and then he went to work on the f-14 program. So everything that he did around the house was done a lot like you very meticulous and very much attention to detail which is how I ended up being that way. I worked in the aviation field for many years and just recently retired. I recently put a dormer on top of my garage and built a woodworking shop. I wish you the best
Love your work Denis (hope I’ve spelt your name correctly). I’m guessing you’re an aircraft engineer in your day job. So precise!! The black MDF looks really nice. Never seen it before (NZ)
Unfortunatelly, Bessey changed internal mechanism design of those clamps, because Armor-Tool obviously holds the patent. Bessey's clamps are now practically useless, they seem to not lock well in down position, and they do not offer enough auto-adjusted pressure. I suggest you rather look for Armor-Tool (or Armor-X tool) version, like this one: www.amazon.de/-/en/Armor-X-Automatically-hh70-POSIT-Horizontal-Profile/dp/B00X2AQ18K/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=armor-tool+stc-hh70+automatische+hold+down+kniehebelspanner&qid=1609591979&sr=8-1-fkmr1
Good day. Great content thanks. Please consider making a video of your planning process. From concept, process chosen, schedule and progress recording. Thanks again. Cheers
buddy, your videos are always informative and to the point. great job if you ever get to NFLD look me up we'll go fishing and you can tell me all about your upgrades cheers Dennis and thanks again
Hooked on Wood how are you doing? Dennis it looks like you don’t have a zero clearance plate on your mitre saw. Is there a particular reason that you don’t or just not got round to it yet?
Hoi Dennis, wat zijn de afmetingen van de PVC verloopstuk(ken) achterop de Kapex? Welke slangdiameter gaat we vervolgens op? Overigens, geweldige videos!
Black MDF I get a lot of questions about the black MDF. In the Netherlands this is fairly easy to obtain in the hardware stores. Here they call it fully colored MDF. Valchromat is also a fully colored MDF that is available everywhere. I think this is also very suitable, but it is much more expensive. However, this is a bit more robust, stiff and denser than the MDF I use. What I use is not Valchormat, but it looks a lot like that. What I use is cheaper and costs around 80 euros here in the Netherlands for a 240 x 120 cm sheet. I see several manufacturers worldwide who make fully colored mdf. The problem is that there is no brand name here in NL for this MDF. So I find it difficult to indicate which MDF is comparable with this worldwide. I believe in the USA this could be the same: www.forescolorusa.com
@@HookedonWood Thanks very much for your reply, information, and link. The way you machined it, the MDF looked much like a structural PVC. Good looking material. I will hunt it down here in the USA. Keep up the wonderful content.
I love your shop. There is so much natural light! What are its dimensions of the building? My shop is only 10' x 16' which is tight but the largest I wanted in the back yard so there is still plenty of room for my dog to run around and stretch his legs. This miter fence is beautiful, as nice as INCRA products are, they are way too expensive for most hobbyist. If I was doing this for income then I would want the best for accuracy. Is this what you do for a living? I like the clamp you added which I can easily install on my miter saw as I have about 6 of them indifferent sizes. I'm going to include this to a mobile miter station design with fold out wings. since I don't have the room for a big permanent station. The New Yankee Workshop put out a design on his channel that each side is folded twice so another wards, when you open a wing in the up position which is 3' long, you then reach behind that wing and another section folds out giving you a full 6' of length on both sides allowing you to cut 10-12' boards. It is very clever, and you are clever man too so you may want to watch it. ua-cam.com/video/Y3aTkVMCALY/v-deo.html
Thanks for your link. I like it. I do not do this for work. It is some kind of hobby but i also like to make my shop as effective as possible. Not because for a better workflow, but just because it is very nice to work in a clean and organised environment. So that is part of the hobby to.
I like the background music. Just maybe adjust the sound level to where you voice is more dominant. Your videos are very informative and well done. Very good editing job. These videos professional quality and could easily be sold as DVD sets.
Hi, For a mitersaw, it is very nice. I think best in class, and one of the reason why I bought it. I increased the diameter from my suction hose, to get better performance. In thicker wood, it performs better than on 18mm wood. But still, I am very satisfied.
I really enjoy your videos and your innovative designs for you well organized and extremely well thought out shop. One thing I would like to mention is in my opinion it is extremely dangerous to work with gloves on the various power tools in the shop. Thank you so much for your presentations. Best regards form Long Beach California. My wife and I were supposed to be in the Netherlands in April 2020 however our Bike and Barge Tour for tulip season was cancelled due to Covid19. We are now scheduled for 2021 but that is in question now. Take care and be safe.
I love the removable fence, but I wonder whether it would be better to incorporate the bench dog holes into the fence extension base itself? That would guarantee both front to back, and left to right alignment. You might still need the clamps to prevent lifting, but I've seen "expanding" (clamping) bench dogs that could eliminate that as well.
Hi David, Good comment. I'm going to change that in the future because I actually think you're right. It gives just a little more certainty and does not take much extra time to make it. I do think you need a clamp because I think those "expanding bench dogs" are not long enough to clamp two plates together. I think they are intended to secure well in a hole.
Nice video. Can you tell me what the black steel hinge plate was used for? Did you buy it? OBI in Germany? I looked at Home Depot, Menards, and Lowes here in the USA and nobody has anything like that. The closest I could find is a hinge for a barn gate. What clamps are those? Model Number? Also, it would be nice to list all the items used to construct the system in each of your videos. I know that you started to do that with your China product reviews. Thanks and keep up on the series.
Hi Richard, Try to google "plaatduimen" and look at pictures. You probably see where they used for. "plaatduimen" is the dutch word and almost every Home Depot has them. But I try to find them but could not find a English/us word for it. So If you know the best subscription of it. Please let me know, than I can put it in my description under the video
Hi Lukas, sorry for my late response. Yes, I am satisfied with the dust collection. I think they are best in class. But you have to go cut in one movement. If you first cut a little and then the full cut it gives more dust. But one cut, especially thicker wood works very well. Dennis
Hi Michael, It is not so difficult to make, and every miter saw is different, so that is why a plan is difficult. Because a lot of people do not have a router table, I think I will make a few universal ones that people can cut in the right dimensions. What you get is basically the fence and the middle peace with the dovetail cut. I plan to sell these for a friendly price. Especially that this Full colored MDF is hard to get in some countries. I am busy on this moment making a new workbench, and when that is ready I start whit that project.
@@HookedonWood and now that you replied I see you've already answered that question in the video description, oops! How thick is it? It looked thicker than 18mm so it didn't occur to me it might be a sheet good.
Hi Mark, I still like the festool but it happens more often lately that it is too small. I can handle this bij turning the wood around and the saw is accurate enough for that. If I have to decide today again, It will be a hard choice. I find the 12 very expansive for the few times I needed the larger capacity.
I also like the bosch GDL 12. But the lack of dust extraction against the festool is a problem. The festool is very good ad that point. I do not like all the constructions needed to control the dust.
The clamp on the drill press is from Bosch and comes delivered with the drill press. the part of the depot is what we call "plaatduimen" www.toolstation.nl/plaatduim/p45374?store=H1&gclid=CjwKCAiAu9vwBRAEEiwAzvjq-z3SnlW9plXR8YZh5D4IpxDOy2i-4SLU7rktkkPs2dhY0A_OXCtuXxoCkk8QAvD_BwE I do not find the right English translation. But it should be at de department hinges and locks
hi peter, no, i am sorry. At the time I was making this workbench, I was not into this video thing. My channel is just a few Months old. I want to have some plans ready in February. Perhaps this make it easier to build.
Music must go. Had to turn it off and come down here to read what the material is. Thanks for that, great idea, going to try it for crown molding. Note: I've found that many products easily available around the world, are not available easily here(in the U.S.). No one seems to know why.
Fantastic video Dennis. Could i ask what the wood material is that you made the fence from as its not a material I’m familiar with. Some sort of composite mdf maybe?
You are genius and creative man, I am your biggest fan and I am very very thankful to U tube that they provide me a lot of knowledge through Mr, Dennis , Yes I learned many things from Hooked onwood , I will always remember your Excellent ideas and real effort ,Thank you for this wonderful video
Agree with all the others comments, really content, professional presentation....man you must be part German :-) Where about in the Netherlands are you based? Would love to stop by some time.
what is that clamp on your drill press? does it have a particular name? is it produced by a particular brand? i`ve been surfing the web an cannot find it anywhere...
Hi, This clamp is part of the Bosch PBD40 Drill machine. I Am not aware that you can buy this separate. But I have to say it is one aspect I like about the Bosch PBD40. But in General I think you can get better machines for this money in terms on stability and accuracy
These clamps are from Bessey www.amazon.de/dp/B0051YM8DW/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_nl_NL=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&crid=2DVX0TJKBRY1I&keywords=bessey+stc+waagrechter+grundplatte&qid=1578513539&sprefix=bessey+stc%2Caps%2C143&sr=8-1
Hi Greg, It has no name in the Netherlands. Just full colored MDF. But it looks like Valchromat what is more known in the world. That Said, Valchromat is even more dense and has a higher quality. It also cost a lot more. I pay around 80 euro for a sheet of 240 x 120mm
We call it "duimplaat" google it, you will see some pictures and then perhaps you know what it is. I do not know the Englisch name. It is for hanging outside doors.
@@HookedonWood Thanks for your reply. Googleing it and I do see pictures of similar objects and can probably find it. According to Google, that word translates literally to "thumb plate" but, we don't call it that. But, I can probably figure it out. Thanks.
@@CaseAgainstFaith1 It's called a "pintle" in the US I believe, check out: www.homedepot.com/p/National-Hardware-1-2-in-Pintles-for-6-in-and-8-in-Straps-298BC-1-2-PNTL-ZN/203616878
I like the style of your videos, but some of your recommendations are way beyond the budget of the general handyman or diy’er such as incra tool items, the payback on incra items would be years, great if you can afford them but not so good if you can’t. Even the Bangood tools are to expensive for some items that would only be used infrequently, I have purchased some of your recommended items from bangood and found them to be excellent value for money, these are at the lower end of the price bracket. I intend to buy more from banggood as and when I can justify the spend. Like I say your videos are very informative and enjoyable, I have subscribed and wish you well for the future.Best wishes from England🏴
I like the content. Very cool looking material and great ideas. Only thing that got annoying after a very short time is the prominent repetitive music.
This black wood you are using looks so awesome. What kind exactly is that ? :D and no idea where you are from - but you have this nice dutch accent that we germans like very much.
Hi, Sorry for my late answer. I really believe that I already did it. But I want to say that it is not a composite material. It is full colored MDF. It is not the same as Valchromat. But looks very much like it. But it is much cheaper. I heard that it is not easy available in the US. But in Holland I can buy it at a lot of places. So I do not know why. Google on Full colored MDF and I hope you find where to buy it in your country. In the Netherlands, it is around 70-80 euro for a sheet 120x240
@@BloodyClash If it is the Arnhem Border your lucky. www.af.nl/voorraad/plaat/mdf-gekleurd/prijslijst.htm Otherwise, the HUBO in my town can Get it also. But that is more expansive.

Dank je Roni. Fijn weekend!
Awesome content. Your solutions are very clever.
Nice to see someone else using the Incra table saw system. I love mine, best bunch of $$ I’ve spent.
I agree, although this counts almost for most INCRA products. :-)
Clever upgrades. I wonder though at the height of your fence. What do you do if you wanted to cut a compound miter cut on say a 20 cm wide (or wider) piece of crown molding? Do you have a higher fence for those situations?
Love your black MDF board. I’ve not seen it in Australia though.
What a fency fence... 👍
It surely made some fans! 😁
Thank you for all the great advice
Dennis, I really enjoy your viedos. Where did you get your clamps for the miter saw upgrades for this video?
id have to make a lot of inserts with how many different blades I use.
Love your stuff. What’s that gadget that attaches to round column on your drill press to hold down the job?
That it standard with the Bosch drill press.
Found this at my local Home Depot @ 5:20 !! Ha Ha in the Netherlands?? Quite funny. Nice video.
I will make both hold downs. Nice job there my friend!
I very much like your hold down idea. What is the piece that you found at Home Depot? Part of a hinge?
Yes it is part of a Hinge. I do not know how they call it in English. In The Netherlands they call it "plaatduim" perhaps you can google it and you know what it is you are looking for.
Looks like it might be part of a gate hinge
It's called a "hook on plate" hinge part in UK English.
People tend not to like change lol
I do have another question I was looking at buying some power tools from China and I couldn't get any straight answers on if there able to be converted to the American power standard of 110 or 220.
Excellent videos. I'm glad I found your channel. I just subscribed. Keep up the great work Dennis
Love your work Denis (hope I’ve spelt your name correctly). I’m guessing you’re an aircraft engineer in your day job. So precise!!

Great video. Where can we get the self adjusting hold down clamps?
Hi Greg,
www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0057PUL52/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I think they are great!

What type of wood you used? (the black one) Good idea good video. Thanks
This is what we call Fulll colored MDF. It is a bit like Valchromat.
Very nice video. Please lower the music volume on future videos. A good example was how loud it suddenly became around 4:30.
Hi David, good point, was a rookie mistake. Thanks for adding your comment.
What is the dark fence material that you are cutting the dovetails into?

Sounds good 😀 awesome
Hooked on Wood how are you doing? Dennis it looks like you don’t have a zero clearance plate on your mitre saw. Is there a particular reason that you don’t or just not got round to it yet?

Amazing as usual 👍
how does the rear zero clearance dovetail insert affect dust collection?
In fact it will make it better. Not much. I will explain in my next video. Like the question 😀
Excellent upgrades. Well explained. What material is the black stock?
Black MDF
I get a lot of questions about the black MDF.
Are they still available to purchase and can you post to the UK
Lots of great ideas. Keep them coming.
Thanks, appreciate it very much!
I like the background music. Just maybe adjust the sound level to where you voice is more dominant. Your videos are very informative and well done. Very good editing job. These videos professional quality and could easily be sold as DVD sets.
Hi Dennis...What is the black material?
How is the dust control with your Kapex? Like the upgrades!
Hi David,
Good comment. I'm going to change that in the future because I actually think you're right. It gives just a little more certainty and does not take much extra time to make it. I do think you need a clamp because I think those "expanding bench dogs" are not long enough to clamp two plates together. I think they are intended to secure well in a hole.
What is the back material you are using?
Like your videos, what material are you using for this upgrade thank you....
I use Full Colored MDF, almost the same like Valchromat but much cheaper.
BTW, do you have any link for the self-adjusting toggle clamps?

Do you sell a similar product for Festool KS 120?
Brian
Hi Richard,
Try to google "plaatduimen" and look at pictures. You probably see where they used for.
"plaatduimen" is the dutch word and almost every Home Depot has them. But I try to find them but could not find a English/us word for it.
So If you know the best subscription of it. Please let me know, than I can put it in my description under the video
Probably a bit late, but in case it helps - these would be called "hook on plate" hinge parts in the UK.
Hello Dennis, I am interested in buying a kapex ks60, are you satisfied with the dust collection? Did you make any improvements? Thank you!
Hi Lukas, sorry for my late response.
Yes, I am satisfied with the dust collection. I think they are best in class. But you have to go cut in one movement. If you first cut a little and then the full cut it gives more dust. But one cut, especially thicker wood works very well.
Dennis
@@HookedonWood Hello Dennis, no worries. :)
Thank you for your answer and your valuation. Very much appreciated!
Lukas
What material do you use for the fence?
Top: Black MDF, something similar to Valchromat. I get it from here: (Netherlands)
www.af.nl/voorraad/plaat/mdf-gekleurd/zwart.htm
this looks awesome. do you plan on making plans or making this upgrades for sale
Hi Michael,
It is not so difficult to make, and every miter saw is different, so that is why a plan is difficult.
Love your videos, Dennis. Where did you get the drill press hold-down fixture?
Hi Jim, that is standard for the Bosch drill press.
Love this video, plan to add these upgrades to my saw when I can. What kind of wood did you use for your fence?
Hi, The wood I used we call Full Colored MDF, It looks like valchormat but is a lot cheaper here in the Netherlands.
@@HookedonWood and now that you replied I see you've already answered that question in the video description, oops!
How thick is it? It looked thicker than 18mm so it didn't occur to me it might be a sheet good.
@@zski03 Hi, It is 18mm.
What the black materal is?
Dennis how do you like the Festool chop saw? Any regrets about not going for the larger model? Thanks Mark
Hi Mark, I still like the festool but it happens more often lately that it is too small. I can handle this bij turning the wood around and the saw is accurate enough for that. If I have to decide today again, It will be a hard choice. I find the 12 very expansive for the few times I needed the larger capacity.
@@HookedonWood Thanks Dennis. Yes I'm struggling justifying the sizeable increase in price of the larger one to be honest.
I also like the bosch GDL 12. But the lack of dust extraction against the festool is a problem. The festool is very good ad that point. I do not like all the constructions needed to control the dust.

I concur. Not adding music to your videos will save you time editing and give you more time to make more informative videos.
Music must go. Had to turn it off and come down here to read what the material is. Thanks for that, great idea, going to try it for crown molding. Note: I've found that many products easily available around the world, are not available easily here(in the U.S.). No one seems to know why.

I like the style of your videos, but some of your recommendations are way beyond the budget of the general handyman or diy’er such as incra tool items, the payback on incra items would be years, great if you can afford them but not so good if you can’t.
