it's important to note that: 1. By all reports I have heard the PSN account requirement was changed 2-3 hours into the original launch of the game and never mentioned again. The game was discovered by most players WEEKS after release. It was not announced to be something which would be brought back, EVEN as players in countries which could not create PSN accounts bought up the game en mass. 2. Looking up Sony's OWN policy at the time people bought the game would've told you that you do not need a PSN account to play a Playstation game on PC. this was deceptive and predatory, no two ways about it. They deserve EVERY lawsuit they're going to get in the EU for this. And to anyone who says "just get a VPN" in countries like China you can be federally charged by the CCP for owning a VPN. (because they see it as an attempt to bypass the great firewall). Sony can also ban you at any time for falsifying your account information as well, if you use one.

Biggest reason is because q1 earnings are coming and Sony wants to impress the shareholders "Oh look at the 1000s of accounts that were created from this 1 game. Give us money"
It'd be nice if the CM's being shitty was a 4d chess move to make people more upset so they have more backlash to show Sony to try and get them to revert the change. I don't think that is the case but it'd be nice if that's what it was.
Spitz (and the others) have been shit at least for a few months. When the terminids had too many enemies spawning and their weakpoints bugged, he called someone a meta using tryhard (or something along those lines) for complaining, acting as if nothing was wrong, the next patch notes were essentially 'we did a lot to adress issues with terminids spawn rates and weakpoints not working correctly'. When the same thing happened with the automatons missiles instantly killing due to a bug, the game kept pushing players against the automatons and the community managers were quiet about that issue while people complained.
Rootkit anticheat was 100% arrowheads fault, they're a bit incompetent and dont have the ability to keep up with their playerbase. But then their publisher, instead of supporting them in order to keep their money coming in, ACTIVELY screw them over with mandatory content additions and now THIS.
Now I am honestly wondering if the supercredit store isn't making enough money to support the server costs and they have decided to just kill the game on purpose.

Any game that requires 3rd party account login is an instant refund for me. If the first time I booted it up and it asked me to log in I would have alt f4ed that shit so fast and hit refund.
One thing to require it from the start, and have it listed another thing to spit vitriol at your own fans. Incredibly unprofessional, and that's as a console player. Xbox, though so I have no hat in this ring other than I'm sad that I never got to play It.

Everyone was attacking Spitz specifically as a person, and they were receiving a lot of abuse as they were the only manager on at that time and got a LOT of personal abuse directed their way. The other community managers have been on the ball and doing a great job, and Spitz was doing alright, until that moment. I think they just had had enough. As someone whose worked in customer service for years (not anymore thank God), I can sympathize with that at least a bit.
Having worked in customer service my whole life, it doesn’t matter if he was fed up. It’s his job to be connected to the community and always have the companies interests in mind. Being snide and snarky isn’t how you foster a community, especially after your company gets in the line of fire for shitting the bed.

To be fair to arrowhead, the steam disclaimer about the need for a third party sign in. It's been there since before launch. It's just because of the huge influx of players they decided to forego it. I don't deny its pretty bad, but you could have known about it if you read the gold warnings on the right side of the game page. I understand your rage, but honestly arrowhead probably had a contract for this and Sony wouldn't stand for anymore delays.

Honestly I stopped playing a while ago. I loved the game but the developers keep making the most asinine decisions and changes to the game. Now this on top of all that. I honestly believe that the hit that the game was was a complete accident and if they didn't have the server issues they would have killed their game much faster. You completely misunderstand the issue. Amazon or Google services don't work without an account from the get go. Helldivers 2 worked without an PSN account for 3 months and is now retroactively forcing you to make an account and share your information

I actually don’t agree with his take. The PSN link was always intended at the start and was delayed. They had a pop up before you even started with a QR code to link telling everyone it was mandatory. I remember because I linked it then.

I mean the take was tame until the community manager blatantly told someone to just go away instead of bothing them with complaints, like the level of unprofetionallism was kinda extreme on the side of Arrow Head too. It's a good game, but when you start not trying to level with your playerbase and just tell them to leave cause you don't want to deal with the masses, and some of the things they said that to were just genuine questions, it's hard for me to not feel like stepping away from the game as well.

Imagine not realizing the severity of it, "lmao." Didn't state it was mandatory on the EULA until recently, which is illegal. The screen for it was skippable, and only showed up when you booted up the game the first time. The Steam text was obscure and off in some corner. The EULA screen after the sign in screen never even had a clickable link, nor did it show it upfront. It had a link, but it wasn't clickable. They also only had it as mandatory for a bit, which was well before most people got the game. There's over 60 countries that can't use PSN, but can buy the game. The constant data breaches associated with PSN. The principle of it, and how the game doesn't NEED this to work, and definitely not for the reasons Sony listed. It's a serious issue, that could even lead to a class action lawsuit. Don't downplay something you clearly did not look into whatsoever.
What you’re not getting is that people in countries that simply can not make a PSN account are going to try to be forced to buy a VPN to change their location to be able to make a PSN account but then also fall into PSs violation of Terms for Location, which is a violation of their terms and agreements which can ban your account which would might have a negative impact on Steam, but who knows at this point. This was almost a given esp with the rapid release of HD2 from Sony, in competition with Microsoft and Palworld, Sony is WAY more money hungry and greedy, clearly.
I don't know anyone who reads the little yellow boxes on the Steam store page, and if you're like me and started after a few months the only thing we got was a page you could skip that never once mentioned the eventual requirement. Say learn to read all you want, but when what there is to read is placed where most people won't look you'll still get a mob.

I bought it, I own it. Hence the quotation marks you put on "rent." You don't even effectively rent games. You BUY them. That is how it's put when you purchase them. It isn't even available to 60+ countries due to this change. That can't be legal... It didn't even originally state such info on the EULA until recently, which is DEFINITELY illegal. If i buy something, then the seller makes it inoperable, that is not okay.

What a safe entitle arrogant argument flexing your first world privilege. Only 69 countries minus China are able to access to HellDiver2 with PSN, while UK and Northern Ireland required to use Face ID to register a PSN account. Helldivers from other PSN supported countries can have a higher moral obligation to stand with the Helldivers that can no longer play anymore until the issue is fixed.

To be fair to arrowhead, the steam disclaimer about the need for a third party sign in. It's been there since before launch. It's just because of the huge influx of players they decided to forego it. I don't deny its pretty bad, but you could have known about it if you read the gold warnings on the right side of the game page. I understand your rage, but honestly arrowhead probably had a contract for this and Sony wouldn't stand for anymore delays.

Honestly I stopped playing a while ago. I loved the game but the developers keep making the most asinine decisions and changes to the game. Now this on top of all that. I honestly believe that the hit that the game was was a complete accident and if they didn't have the server issues they would have killed their game much faster. The developers have been proven to be tone deaf and toxic since the start. Its just showing more and more now.
The sheer volume of people defending that scummy garbage, man... That's just sad.

You completely misunderstand the issue. Amazon or Google services don't work without an account from the get go. Helldivers 2 worked without an PSN account for 3 months and is now retroactively forcing you to make an account and share your information

It’s kinda shitty the way they’ve gone about this thing, but they’re within their right to do whatever with their property. They should issue refunds for players in countries that literally can’t make psn accounts and be done with it.
Everyone else quite literally bought the license to play helldivers 2 with the warning that psn would be required. Then put a bunch of time in, and now are acting all upset.
If your information matters so much to you… then IF ANYTHING, you should be happy for the amount of time you got to play helldivers 2 without having to give up your information. You shouldn’t be mad that it’s coming to an end and you definitely shouldn’t be shocked.
The difference being is that they tell you after purchasing that they now want your personal details otherwise they will take the items that you bought away from you. Ok that probably doesn't work with with the pizza/takeaway if you eat it fast enough.

The PSN link was always intended at the start and was delayed. They had a pop up before you even started with a QR code to link telling everyone it was mandatory. I remember because I linked it then.
They still lifted the rule for 3 months. There should have been a more serious warning. Especially for people that live in countries that do not have the option to make a PSN account, which is over 90 different countries. They shouldn't have been able to sell the game in those countries.
I mean the take was tame until the community manager blatantly told someone to just go away instead of bothing them with complaints, like the level of unprofetionallism was kinda extreme on the side of Arrow Head too. It's a good game, but when you start not trying to level with your playerbase and just tell them to leave cause you don't want to deal with the masses, and some of the things they said that to were just genuine questions, it's hard for me to not feel like stepping away from the game as well.

@@Vadnarr They were sold in those countries, because many people are currently complaining that they will lose access to the game come June 4th. And Arrowhead has also stated on their discord as well as the CEO on Twitter that they will inquire with Sony on how to deal with this issue.

What you’re not getting is that people in countries that simply can not make a PSN account are going to try to be forced to buy a VPN to change their location to be able to make a PSN account but then also fall into PSs violation of Terms for Location, which is a violation of their terms and agreements which can ban your account which would might have a negative impact on Steam, but who knows at this point.
This was almost a given esp with the rapid release of HD2 from Sony, in competition with Microsoft and Palworld, Sony is WAY more money hungry and greedy, clearly.
I don't know anyone who reads the little yellow boxes on the Steam store page, and if you're like me and started after a few months the only thing we got was a page you could skip that never once mentioned the eventual requirement.

i know Thor knows this and its why i find him reacting this way to be a bit much (ive only seen this clip) but people in general really need to learn what it means to purchase a game on a platform like Steam, Epic or even PS/Xbox. You. Do . Not. Own. Anything. you swipe your card for the privilege to "rent" the game and play it as the developer/publisher sees fit. they have the right to make any change at any time and you have zero say. and to make this clear, just because this how it works DOES NOT mean it is OK and it does not mean thats how it should work. its just how it DOES work currently. this situation is not unique Arrowhead/Playstation. it happened to Rocket League YEARS after release when Epic bought them and all of a sudden an EGS account is required to play even from Steam. it seriously sucks but tons of people already bought the game while the PSN requirement was stated on the Steam store page for HD2. as shitty as it is this is the BS these game companies can get away with. also explains why HD2 isnt going to release on Xbox anytime soon or ever. im not defending Arrowhead really, just to all of you to be more aware of these things.

Also, even when it is on the store page, it's obscure in some fuckoff corner. Hell, it sits BELOW the buy button. If you just heard about it, and go to buy it, you're not likely to notice it. That's like saying it was in the fine print. (Which it wasn't even there until recently in this case, lol.) Like, sure, it is. But that isn't very clear. That's more so Steams fault, of course. There's also the issue of it before talked about BEFORE launch. Most people only saw and bought the game WEEKS after it came out, so that is mostly rendered not useful.
Before you say it, the popups on launch aren't useful either. I didn't even remember they existed until someone else brought them up to me. They're that useless. Hell, the EULA screen apparently just gives you a link to the EULA page on web (which isn't very nice, if you ask me), but the link isn't even CLICKABLE! You'd have to tab out and painstakingly type it out if you wanted to read it, which sounds borderline illegal to me.
They should've just forced it from the beginning, with no weird compromises. It'd work way better. Or even better, not force it at all! Make it optional, but incentivized just like the preorder with a skin or something! Maybe some samples or Super Credits! It would've worked wonders better!

What a safe entitle arrogant argument flexing your first world privilege. Only 69 countries minus China are able to access to HellDiver2 with PSN, while UK and Northern Ireland required to use Face ID to register a PSN account.
Helldivers from other PSN supported countries can have a higher moral obligation to stand with the Helldivers that can no longer play anymore until the issue is fixed.
