Maybe even an arrow that is boosted by a tnt and is stuck in a trapdoor. It would be very time consuming to setup tho, but it kills players even with full prot 4 netherite armor and a shield. Edit: also theoretically, a player with a totem can be executed too. Just have a cleverly timed machine loaded with two lethal weapons, one will destroy the totem and one will unleash the final blow. Actually make it three to activate dual wielding totems

@@inferno23_ The trick he/she means is if you let TNT explode next to an arrow, it gets loaded with momentum. If the arrow is stationary in the world without hitting a block, it keeps that momentum. With this principle, the arrow can gain a lot of momentum from a relatively simple setup that doesn't require a lot of TNT to explode at the exact same time. And as you might know, the damage an arrow does is bound to its momentum or speed at which it hits you. I don't know the exact setup, but there is a trapdoor involved in which the arrow is stuck, and if it flips out of the way it lets the arrow go. You can remove that whole loading setup, all you need is the trapdoor with the arrow sticking in it.
The detonation method could be a firework with 7 stars. It goes through armor and won’t instakill a player on full health. Not sure if it will do enough damage through the floor though, but with only one and a half hearts to go, it’s worth a shot.

One option to solve its lack of effectiveness against heavy armor is to use a more lethal projectile as the trigger. I would suggest firing a lingering potion of instant harming and then a splash potion of slowness in rapid succession so that it can hold them there and finish them off.
It's probably the most simple solution, however it runs the risk of the player dying before the end crystal detonates potentially leading to destroyed player items. Should be noted that the Instant harming would come after if added, or like others are suggesting, to use fireworks. Though the slowness is a brilliant improvement for Glitter Bom- I mean, Landmine v2.
When I was younger I tried setting up a bunch of landmines to mess with my friends. They were basic TNT landmines, but I did wind up finding the one place I could hide them effectively. Snowy biomes. How it'd work was I'd set up a 3x3 grid of TNT with an observer to trigger it, have redstone ore on top of it, and then a layer of snow. Every with the snow layer on top, the ore will still update whenever you walk over it. It wound up being such a huge problem that the entire biome was just a massive deathtrap, even with the delay. I'd just made too many landmines.
The other problem with landmines is that everyone has a totem of undying their offhand (unless you're in a friendly server, in which case why are you making a landmine?)
The most secretive and not-cruel one possible: a calibrated sculk sensor with the lectern on the walk sound page and a wool lens focusing it onto a single surface block directly above it (so you won’t accidentally blow yourself up while building it), connected to a dispenser that shoots an arrow at the crystal.
Didnt need a tutorial. You explained quite well how that works. Great job. Btw, i had the idea to offset 2 of those traps by around 7 ticks each, to avoid end crystal deletion. That sure would be lethal.
Thanks for reminding me about end crystals and bombs. I made a near perfect skulk and tnt minecart mine not too long ago, (activates in 1 tik, tnt minecarts determine explosive power [10 on each rail is enough to kill full blast prot 4 netherite with expolsion itself, but the launching factor should kill a player if a player used a totem of undying], 1 layer underground, directional detonation [bombs close to the player blow up first, which will create a crazy angle for the launch factor, which is hard to water mlg], imune to water logging [because of the near instant detonation {if water is heard, the bomb will explode in such a wide radious the water can't stop it}], impossible to defuse without commands [the previous rimming technique used to disarm previous models is now null, which was the only way still known to disarm these mines], near perfect safety system [will not blow up unless safety system is disengaged, and cannot be reactivated], fits in a 7x10 block area, not very expensive [accessable mid-game with creeper farm, with skulk sensors], divided mine [technically just 2 seperate mines, which have 2 sculk sensors each for near-seperate activation, which are connected to make one mine {this makes the mine extremely dangerous, for if one mine is getting disarmed in any way, the other goes off, and would need 4 people with perfect precision to disarm the entire bomb, tis why the bomb might as well be impossible to disarm. Hacking will also not work to disarm the bomb, nor being in creative mode. Only /kill @e[type=tnt_minecart] will work}], with only one downside [being activated through sculk sensors creates a problem, aka wool and sneaking]. Now that you showed me end crystals, theres extra space in the design, so the bomb will be even more powerfull. I'm doin a bunch more testing, since its still in beta, but when I officially have it narrowed to have no downsides, I may just share it with the world. Also, I have names for all the different types of mines, determined by how many seperate mines are connected, and how many sculk sensors there are. This mine is a 2x4, so the name is duotetrax, and its in beta 5, so Duotetrax-b5 is its official name. And yes, more sculk sensors and more bombs within the bombs could easily make this even harder to disarm, but this model is the most efficient and most dangerous you could make (for the time being). This mine was made with the perpose of being undefusable, highly destructive, efficient, well hidden, and player disintegration. In 2 weeks I'll make a video on the beta.

You might consider firework rockets. You can cram seven firework stars into one rocket, and they don't destroy items on detonation. Not tested, but you might be able to use a firework to detonate your end crystal.
Use the tnt Minecraft first if you are going to, this way the items don’t get destroyed because the less armoured players will die to the second explosion instead of the first

10:15 I don't know how it is on the java edition but on bedrock we can use pistons to push multiple end crystals into a block so perhaps you could do that?

I think after detonation, another dispenser (around or in the contraption) can throw a potion of insta damage to fully kill the player with full prot 4, and its also better solution than a second explosion bc it will not destroy the items. But still u made a good video

Push more crystals together with a piston if that still works in newer versions and there you have a larger explosion from one thrown snowball/egg/arrow
i’m not sure if it’s possible, but there’s a mechanic that many crystal pvp players use called “double taps” i recommend watching theo404’s video about it, but if you could pull it off using red stone you would be able to instantly kill the player even if they were wearing a totem, it would just need to do enough damage in the first place tho
End crystals cannot be placed by redstone machines, and it's impossible to have two end crystals in the same location explode independently; one would just blow up the other.
By using Ctrl + pick block (usually middle click as the other person said) you can pick up a block in creative with its nbt data. ie. signs with text, chests with items, command blocks with commands etc
what about damage potions? you can use as many as you want of them to deal damage and they won't delete any items. maybe you can throw a damage potion just after the explostion and it will make sure to finish the killing without the risk of deleting items.
Im making a video about a version 2 of the mine now. I personally just settled for more explosives because its more suited with the nature of landmines, but maybe If I make a v3 I could attempt to create a potion dispenser

TNT minecarts with a slime block launcher makes it pretty much instant, instead of the 4-second TNT delay you were talking about.

thats still a whole totem of undying used up just like that. obviously it depends on how rare the totems are in a given server, but usually they are rare enough that using up one totem is a big loss

Villagers have not yet signed the Geneva Convention, so landmines are not war crimes in Minecraft.
All my landmines contain iron in the pistons and thus are metal detectable, and therefore are not warcrimes.
You can achieve pretty much the same with a sculk sensor, some powered rails and a couple of TNT minecarts. Quite fast too.

why not just use the classic tnt-sand-pressure plate landmine? solves all of these and can be easily adapted to sculk
