I think Asimov's Foundation trilogy is a truly ‘unfilmable’ work. The whole story plays with the fact that there are no ‘recurring characters’, but that individual stories are told one after the other, which all come together to form the big picture of the ‘Seldon Plan’. Having Gaal as a time-travelling heroe, fighting the evil mule is just not at all living up to this ingenious idea..
I would have hired Peter Dinklage to play the Mule. The Mule, in "Foundation & Empire" was suppose to be a little man, that nobody suspected was the one conquering the galaxy. The Mule was also suppose to have inner demons, something Peter Dinklage can portray incredibly well.
@@sebastiancoar1991 that might still be true and they explain it as all those he controls need to wear the headpiece and have those eyes due to someone controlling them. and if that is not the case then i think that fact that it is an old man some how compensates
@@sebastiancoar1991in the books, the mule is described as being about 5’8”, about 100 pounds and thin and gangly with a huge nose. I think what we see in this clip is one of the mule’s soldiers, with the mule looking at Gaal through the soldier’s eyes. Still, Peter Dinklage would make an awesome casting choice! 👍🏽
@@changobango9001he's actually the real mule since we see the 152 year flash forward ending scene where he vows to destroy her even if he loses everything(implying he's in charge of the empire)
I mean, he destroyed Tazenda with his fleet and was willing to destroy Rossem in order to find the second foundation... Still, I believe the Mule is not being faithfully portrayed here too. However, I think there is still hope the Mule is better adapted into the show as I have two theories (or ways they can fix what they did here) The first: the mule is showing Gaal violence, death and destruction to scare her and prevent her from building the second foundation. The second: That scene takes place in Tazenda (an actual planet destroyed by the mule) I think one of the worst things about this scene is not related to the fact the mule is violent or not. I think that the serious messed up thing is that his identity has been revealed. Even if he was manipulating Gaal's mind and that wasn't his real appearance the mule is never physically seen until he decides to reveal himself. In the books, neither the reader nor the characters have an interaction with the Mule until the final reveal. It is a silent enemy. I really want to see if they'll bring Bayta Darrel or Captain Pritcher to the show because I need to see THAT SCENE.
(Spoilers for season two) The showrunners missed a huge opportunity by having Hari kill Tellem. Gaal should have goaded Tellem to piggyback off her mind into the future. There, Tellem would’ve been confronted and easily killed by the Mule, leaving her body in a vegetative state in the past. This would have demonstrated the massive power of the Mule as someone capable of killing a mentallic like Tellem Bond from 152 years in the future, while also showcasing another utility of Gaal’s mentallic powers.
I love how they took the real mule’s description from the book and delivered exactly that to the screen. A man of surpassing physical strength whose eyes kill. I would have gone with the original version however what they did makes sense
Wait, the Mule is now Captain Cold with lightning powers he shoots from his Power Glove (TM)?!? And he is super strong? Also, way to ruin his reveal centuries before he is meant to appear. Now everyone knows how he looks like, thus it won't be a surprise. Same idiotic thing as Rings of Power did with Sauron.
Oh wonderful, the Mule is going to get exactly what he wants by now guaranteeing his existence in the Universe. Scare past Gaal a little bit, get her to propagate your rumours for you. Better yet, the Mule appears how he wants to appear to different people, so she’ll go chasing this guy without ever knowing she’s looking for the wrong man. It’s genius.
PLEASE let this physically strong Mule just be a decoy. You can make him not a clown if you wish, but you can't turn what was supposed to be a more mental/emotion based villain into just another generic cool tough guy.
At the start I didn't like the many changes in season 1, but I warmed up to the emperor dinasty arc for instance, but this "mule" is just too far away from the original, and just for spectacle meaning, to be flashy, to appeal a wider audience I guess... meh...
Everyone freaking out at the Mule not being a small creature are kinda making me laugh... Don't.... don't you remember reading the books? Don't you remember how the Mule works? How we even know what he looks like?
"The Mule" was a role model for me since I am a product of 1960s passive aggressive victimhood so original story he plays "heavy metallic" blue tunes on a "visisonar" to grate on nerves so others feel sorry for him to do his bidding similar to how "Star Wars" depicted divine right psychology.

This is not Asimov's Mule.
The whole point of the Mule was that he was influencing others to do his bidding. Who had the brilliant idea to cast him as Rambo?

the mule never fights
He could just easily make her see anything he wants, as he can control minds. He would not need to lift a finger.
Excellent point

No hay duda que este Magnifico Giganticus va ser diferente al que nos mostro el gran maestro Asimov, esperemos a ver que tal va 👍

This is the Warlord of Kalgan, the “muscle” of the Mule. He’ll have a different actor for the real character

Original mule was not Action Adventure but I would like to wear his goggles so are they available as replicas or reproductions?

Mvp for uploading this. (Yes im still gonna rewatch season 2 anyways)
This should be the intro to Age of Empires 10 😍
not a fan. mule was not imposing in any way shape or form physically.
Fuck yeah, the Mule is from Sweden! Skål!
it's Gillian Anderson's boyfriend from Sex Education. A complete miscast.
