    The first part of this video is all I needed to watch. I couldn't figure out how to take the cable out of the packaging. Installing the cable and adjusting it properly was easy though.

    Great video. Thanks so much for posting. I have an 84 Blazer 305/700R4 that is shifting way too late. Your video has given me the confidence to try an adjustment on my own. I’ll keep Monster in mind for any future transmission needs. Thanks again!

    Tip: when doing the initial set by stepping on the throttle, make sure that you "un" trip the choke. Most carbs will not let the throttle fully extended until the choke is off. Meaning it wont be full throttle and that will throw the adjustment off.

    Adjusting mine this weekend! My 700r4 holds first until about 30mph, but other than that it shifts fine. It almost skips second sometimes and goes right to 3rd. I’m it’s just the TV cable out of adjustment and I don’t need a trans refresh/synchro replacement.

    Question? At 10:13 of the video you say to remove the Holley Throttle Stud. I have a a factory holley variable venturi that came off a 1984 Mustang Gt. The throttle stud on my carburetor is made to not come off. Looks like its riveted in. What do I do?

      The ‘84 Mustang GT came with an AOD transmission and will not need a corrector bracket. The geometry will be the same as a 700R4. Give us a call at 800-708-0087 for any more assistance R sanchez.

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  8 років тому

      +Trish Guerra Thanks for checking in with us. You should have an older cast iron power glide. Even without the T.V. linkage the transmission will shift at the same time no matter how hard you press on the gas peddle. It can still be driven that way.

    • @MonsterTransmission

      One thing you may want to consider is trying a 4L60E instead, with a stand alone computer it will be better read your throttle position sensor. Having a hard time adjusting mine, shifting early. I have 4.56 gears and 33 inch tires, trying to adjust but thinking the 4.56 gears are not going to allow the MPH shift points you mention. Any advice on what would be acceptable shift points for 4.56 gears?
    Also if shifting early do I adjust the gross adjustment tighter or the fine tuning? Thanks for any help!

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  6 років тому +1

      It should be the same, but it really depends on your preference. We've heard of guys who prefer a 20, 30, 45 shift for 4.56 gears.

    1985 k5 blazer with 350... Sometimes trans shifts perfect, seems that after i drive it for a while has a problem going from first to second... sometimes even slips when cruising at about 40-45 mph... got a Holley carb... not surewhat size... could this be the TV cable, just bought the truck and it has a rebuilt trans...not sure the cables were connected using the proper hardware...sound right?

    • @MonsterTransmission

      +Jerica Sittig Thanks Jerica for checking in with us. The cable on a 350 would be set up for passing gear only. The next step would be drop the pan and see how much debris is in the pan. It sounds like you have a internal problem in the transmission. If you have any further questions give us a call at 800-708-0087. Thanks

    Maybe get your opinion on Trans. 700r4. Trans works til it gets warmed up. Than all gears goes out. Turn vehicle off restart and trans works again for little while. Does it again, but works if you turn vehicle off and restart. Thanks. Rick H.

      Check your fluid level, There are many other possibilities but start there. When you turn it off, the fluid drains back down until you run it more.

  • @AreaThirteenThirteen

    I have always heard that the TV cable was an issue on that transmission if it wasn't done just right it would not be good in the long (or short) run!

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  4 роки тому

      The tv cable adjustment is very important, too loose or tight and your transmission will not run as well as it can and eventually burn up.

    I got a dumb question! Wouldn't the rear end gearing have an impact on the 1-2 shift point? I would think a 456 rear gear would shift earlier than a 273 rear gear!! No?? please help! Also, if you are flooring it, wouldn't shift later , on any auto? Thanks!!

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  3 роки тому +1

      You are correct the rear gear ratio will have an effect on the shift points but you will be setting the Transmission to the new setting when you change out the rear gear ratio. So as long as you are shifting between 18-20 MPH for your 1-2 Shift Point everything else should fall in place if no internal or governor issues. Thank you for choosing Monster Transmissions.

    • @MonsterTransmission

      Yes, the tv cable could be too tight and or the geometry could be off. If you have changed to a carb or upgraded carb you will need a corrector bracket. Also make sure you check governor and look for sticking.

    do all cables have the extending feature? i used NAPA part and didnt have to use cable tie either. my bracket mounts to manifold near dizzy and is a different style, is this to far away from carb? It is at its fully extended ratchet setting and has Hard shifts but they are right on the speed mark so i didnt really worry about it being a fresh rebuild on my 700. the clip and stud are directly on my edelbrock 1405 linkage without that throw lever. Am i okay as long as the cable is binding or is this affecting 3rd and 4th WOT?? i am having power issues in those gears. Thanks for your video very helpful

      The 700r4 will not allow 3-4 wot shift. It's fail safe, so you have to delete from the valve body. If you have any other questions Mckenzie, give us a call 800-708-0087.

    Crap, It looks like my TV cable somehow got detached. Did I basically just destroy my 3-4 clutch pack?

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  6 років тому

      If it is slipping in 3-4 then yes. Premature wear can happen if the T.V. cable is not adjusted correctly. Give us a call if you'd like some more help on this, 800-708-0087.

    Myvtranny stopped downshifting. What could be wrong with it. Cable is alright as much as I can tell. It also don't have overdrive

    hello... whats the differences between the passing gear of a th350 and a 700r4 tv cable.

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  7 років тому

      The TH350 has 3 gears and the 700R4 has three gears and an overdrive, The transmission would just drop a gear for passing.

    are the 700r4 and 4L60 (non electronic) the same trans?

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  7 років тому +1

      Yes, Sort of :) The 4L60 came about in 1993. The main difference between is the 4L60 came with a 5 pin lockup harness vs a 4 pin. Size, looks and internals stayed consistent. Hope that helps, Thanks
