Two Chinook helicopters flying low over a lake In Cumbria, England My Blog: vandogtraveller.com My Books: vandogtraveller.com/books-and... Insta: / vandogtraveller
I can promise you, the crew saw the girl on the boat as they went over. I flew in plenty of them in the Army and the crew always looks out for people on the ground.
You have to love the CH47 Chinook. I was a door gunner on a Chinook in Vietnam and 2 times came back to the pad with more then 20 AK 47 and 51 cal holes in the ship but she kept on ticking. I was shot down one time but not the ships fault we took an RPG into the left engine. Lucky we were only about 20 feet off the LZ when it happened. The same birds we flew in nam are still updated and used today.. Airborne All The Way 101st Airborne Vietnam 68,69 and 70
Nice!! Two of those Chinooks went over my parents home a few months ago. First you think oh, just a helicopter somewhere far away, after that the noise is getting louder and louder, you think.. "when it's going to stop"... louder and louder. Suddenly there's this intense sound going through your body.. you think WTF (my speakers can't do that) and then you see them passing over you. Huge monsters.
That must've been bone rattling when they flew over. I had a pair of them flying over my house this past fall at around 250 feet or so altitude. They rattled all the pictures and decorations on the walls of my home.....and I ran outside like an excited 5 year old to watch them! Very unique sound compared to the helo's used for life flights to the hospital, or the blackhawks the National Guard units use. Even louder are the Apache Helos that sometimes fly over my town from the nearby national guard units at the airport.
That second Chinook clearly did a showoff : ) There is no reason he would turn and fly over you like that ; ) Nice video anyways! Probably my favorite chopper of all time!
I work in the lakes all of the time, and I love it when military aircraft fly low round here! We get a free airshow every fine day up here. RAF. worlds best pilots!
Her boat, his camera. She's happy to row and she knows what she's about - clearly isn't fumbling around. Who is to say she'd even LET him row her on such a nice day. A word to the wise, "One does not incur the wrath of a redhead on the water - or one gets mighty wet."
My bud, a retired helicopter pilot who next worked for our City fire department, told me he was moonlighting flying Chinooks to fight wild fires. When he picked up water from the ocean or lakes and people were watching he liked to fly right over them.
ive had the joy to ride in a chinook once and oh my god jesus it was the best day of my life we were doing low passes and all you could see was people looking and point it was amazing
I live right near a base and we sometimes get Chinook's flying over. It makes the windows rattle and you can feel it going over. It's always awesome to see and hear it.
Awesome bit of kit the old Twin Tubs! We had them as gunships in Bosnia - a Minigun in the front door and an M60 on the rear ramp - thankfully, they were never used in anger!
+x Are you referring to the Twin Tubs beneath the yellow, then back fabrics? Because I don't know what a bit of a kit is, but I'd like to find out if it concerns those Twin Tubs!
I love the way she says "There's another" with that accent. Funny that she's the one rowing while he's relaxing lol. Congrats on surviving a fly by of one of the most dangerous helicopters there is.
we dont see those here in Norway.. but one time during a military exerzice a year or so ago i got to see 3.. they flew really high.. but they were noisy as heck.. you were lucky to see em up close:-) and hey.. a pretty lady knowing how to row a boat:-P
I wouldn't doubt that for a moment. When I worked in a petrol station a few years ago, one of the Harrier pilots from our local base came in to fill up. I complained to him that they were always too high to get a decent look when they came over my house. He asked where I lived. And for the next few days, I was getting buzzed by them, as well as a couple of these monsters at treetop level!! They must get bored sometimes, even with the coolest job in the world!!
Now I must say, first of all it's always a treat to see one of those types of helicopters. 2. Nice video quality, what kinda camera do you have? 3. What a nice place! Wish I could do something like rowboating in a lake in the states somewhere.
very cool. in maine were we are at there is a route the airforce uses right above us, you see alot of black hawks, and some times even c130 cargo planes, jets, and very very rarely youll see airforce-one
We get this all the time in lake district, but mostly jets. Fells are handy to hide in, skimming surface and hugging the terrain. One unlucky fighter pilot had a bird strike, lost his engine and rather than eject to save his life he opted to stay with his ride and ploughed it into the ground just outside Shap village, thereby avoiding the stricken jet from crashing into the village.
Wow calm down old timer most of us dont have the last name walker to guide us between acromotion. English isnt my first language and after your comment iam glad not to be grouped with you
I can promise you, the crew saw the girl on the boat as they went over. I flew in plenty of them in the Army and the crew always looks out for people on the ground.
The pilots in the first Chinook are like, "Yo, hot redheaded chick in the rowboat !".
And in the second, the pilots say: This girl looks cool, lets scare her!

This could be the opening cut scene in the next Far Cry game.
That would be brilliant
KennethLarsson or zombie film
there was a helicopter in this video?
A pretty girl that doesn't mind rowing the boat.... you my friend have what we call a keeper!

My father is a retired CH-47D pilot. He used to fly those babies for 20 years in Greece and i can say that they are great piece of engineering.
This video has everything in it, a nice lady, helicopters, action, beautiful nature, and it's good quality. Perfectly done 1 minute-movie.
Nice camera work. Someone who is actually able to follow a target for a change. Thanks!
England can be proud of her.
Chinook, a beautiful lake and a gorgeous looking girl in 50sec video...what more can you ask for
+Animesh Mishra cake
what a top man getting his bird to do the rowing. cheers to equal rights.

Her accent is so cute. I love how she says : "machine-gunnin' me"...
I saw nothing wrong in the rowing of this boat.
That second Chinook clearly did a showoff : ) There is no reason he would turn and fly over you like that ; ) Nice video anyways! Probably my favorite chopper of all time!
That second pilot soo intentionally flew directly over you guys :D
"Ah thought et wuz lack....machine gonnen meh" lol.
LOL
man that part of the video gets me ROFL
She was machine gunned later in the nite
Best part of the video. To quote Jason Mewes, "I think I just filled the cup!"
HAHAHA
I love how she says: "there's another"just love it

I work in the lakes all of the time, and I love it when military aircraft fly low round here! We get a free airshow every fine day up here.

"oh got that's horrible."
You don't know how lucky you are love.

(in their heads) "Thank fucking god something happened, we ran out of conversation material 40 minutes ago, why did I agree to a row boat blind date?"
My bud, a retired helicopter pilot who next worked for our City fire department, told me he was moonlighting flying Chinooks to fight wild fires. When he picked up water from the ocean or lakes and people were watching he liked to fly right over them.
LOL! I thought he was like...Machine-gunning me! Too cute
She's cute
ive had the joy to ride in a chinook once and oh my god jesus it was the best day of my life we were doing low passes and all you could see was people looking and point it was amazing
That accent.
there's anotha, 0:07 super cute
Welcome to the Lake District. This is just one reason I love living here
Those chinooks always travel in pairs!
What did she almost touch?
American girl would've been like, "I'm now rowing, wheres my diamond ring!"
England is beautiful
Oh wow she's gorgeous
That is too cool! You get her to row while you sit back and enjoy the ride! Awesome!
'It was like machine gunning me!' This sound is technically referred to as 'wokka wokka'
red head red target
Now that´s what I call life: to spend the day with a cute redhead on a lake and catching some aircraft flying by.
Great camera work keeping that heli in shot as it flew overhead. Impressive!!
I live right near a base and we sometimes get Chinook's flying over. It makes the windows rattle and you can feel it going over. It's always awesome to see and hear it.
Man of the year! letting the girl row.
Awesome bit of kit the old Twin Tubs! We had them as gunships in Bosnia - a Minigun in the front door and an M60 on the rear ramp - thankfully, they were never used in anger!

Love it. Nothing like a chinook sound. That second one saw you guys and gave a good show.
In England it's common to work the women. Men should take it easy !!
She's cute!
Lucky guy =)
Great fly by. In my youth I lived approx 20 miles from Ft. Rucker in Alabama. Saw them all the time.
I was canoeing across Windermere a few months back and some Tornadoes flew over at a similar height. Amazing thing to see.
Excellent gentlemanly skills making your Mrs row the boat. 🖒
She has beautiful hair. Love the colour.
I love the way she says "There's another" with that accent. Funny that she's the one rowing while he's relaxing lol. Congrats on surviving a fly by of one of the most dangerous helicopters there is.
Nothing like having a completely blacked out CH-47 Chinook fly over your position, on a rooftop in Baghdad, Iraq.
we dont see those here in Norway.. but one time during a military exerzice a year or so ago i got to see 3..
they flew really high.. but they were noisy as heck.. you were lucky to see em up close:-)
and hey.. a pretty lady knowing how to row a boat:-P
Looks like the lake district in north-west England.
I'm pretty sure it's not SOAR. They use the MH-47G which is easily identifiable by its large refueling probe extending from the nose.
I wouldn't doubt that for a moment.

Good camera work, mate! Nice follow; especially on the second fly-by.
Shes Beautiful
Yes those helicopters really are something aren't they.
+Camden Caswell (Blacklynx009) thats what i was going to say ahahahah
that's nothin, i had one land in my boat!
Oh my god Dufus Rufus I laughed so hard I nearly choked...VERY FUNNY!!! Great footage for both situations.
"you do the rowing love, ill make the film"
This looks like the start of a found-footage movie, like REC or Cloverfield. Pretty cool if it was =)
This video is amazing, thanks for sharing, bro!
That is so cool. What a great show.
Lol the guy was about to say cool but he quickly corrected himself and said crazy
The things we do haha
haha he's making her row.
Now I must say, first of all it's always a treat to see one of those types of helicopters. 2. Nice video quality, what kinda camera do you have? 3. What a nice place! Wish I could do something like rowboating in a lake in the states somewhere.
Lucky spot, i love the second heli passed exactly above you
@ 38 She says " I thought it was like machine gunning me" LOL.! .....she probably gets machine gunned a lot!! LOL!
+Extreme Weapons in Cumbria it happens
Pilot: Theres a boat on fire we need to go extinguish.
(Final approach) , "No wait that's her hair, ABORT ABORT!!"
its a good thing he was the one filming, he tracked them so well.
very cool. in maine were we are at there is a route the airforce uses right above us, you see alot of black hawks, and some times even c130 cargo planes, jets, and very very rarely youll see airforce-one

great footage mate!
awsome,we get these flying over our house pretty regular, theyre really noisy but brilliant sound!!!!!!

Mike, who's the Red Headed Woman WOW.
Last month I captured 2 air ambulance at windermere and thought it was cool but your capture is bloody amazing!
I cant agree more, it's the best one minute James Bond movie at UA-cam. It need to be rewarded.
Damn right. Make the woman do the rowing for once.
I wish this happened to me! I love low fly overs!!
Nice, Kinda like in Oxfordshire, where the low passes and take offs go over houses.
I love the way yall talk.
Loved the CH-47's, but man, wooaah, she is insanely beautiful.. I mean.. How good can it get..
?? :-)
Windermere? Great experience :) the second was pretty low!
Wow she was amazing and so were the Helicopters
Its like the start of a red dawn movie. In a way. Great video of CH-47s!
making the woman peddle like a true gentleman xD
haha i like your photo geaze
Peddling?
Try 'rowing'.
The former uses legs, the latter, arms.
The rest of us are bright enough to know that.
Wow calm down old timer most of us dont have the last name walker to guide us between acromotion. English isnt my first language and after your comment iam glad not to be grouped with you

Hard to believe that those lumbering chinooks are some of the fastest helicopters too
