There was a chinook at the end of march in my hometown - the sound @ 0:30 - is what i heart.. from nearly 2km away astonishing wonderful and scaring at the sime time
I grew up listening to them in Ireland when the Brits were here in force.. Chinooks, Pumas, Lynxes.. The Chinooks weren’t as often as the others, you’d probably see a Chinook once or twice a week when they were transporting troops or materials. There was always a Lynx above somewhere, constantly, either way up high sitting in one spot monitoring things or annoyingly, hovering really low at night with search lights over watching troops on the ground. It could be pretty loud when you’re trying to sleep.. The pilot in this video was awesome though, he handed that chinook well. 😊
@@LokyMusik They fly near my town from time to time and the first thing you hear is the womp womp womp noise, no matter what you're doing you just stop and watch them fly past.
I’m a fixed wing guy at heart, but man I can definitely appreciate the Chinook. Such an iconic looking aircraft. I got to fly in one back in 2022. Very cool experience.
Crewed a 47 in Vietnam. The new ones are so advanced it's hard to comprehend. With the wide cord fiberglass blades they are much quieter and have so much more lift too. The current models can lift 3 times what we could back in the day.
3 cargo hooks now too rather than the single one that let the loads swing a lot more. More powerful engines that produce about 1000 more shaft horse power each than the old A & B models. 67U20
That sound bring back so many memories from when I grew up in the 70ies and 80ies in the archipelago shout of Stockholm in Sweden where the Swedish navy flew their chinooks, allways on low altitude, allways fast and with that mighty sound rumbeling betwen the islands. And then the stupid dod decided to sell all of them and replacing them with the black-hawk, and what a replacement that was👍
D-Rob: Yes, you, me and the rest of the Nerds knows that, to the broader, english speaking, audience it is commonly known as Chinook. In swedish they were commonly known as ””Vertolhelikopter”, within the military it was known as ” Helikopter” 4 abbreviated to Hkp 4. And if memory serves it was the Boeing Vertol 107, you might correct me on that. Anyhow, it was a powerful experience🤓 PS: I identify as nerd in the most positiv way. I hope you do too.
The sound of the Chinook on this vid is already impressive so imagine watching this thing maneuver live. The sound of freedom/Infantry morale booster. Godspeed RNLAF!
He was probably referring to the smaller CH-46 Sea Knight, as that's what the Navy used to ferry Marines to the battlefield. The US Army is the branch that operates the CH-47 Chinook
Remember seeing the Chinooks flying over hawick on the way down to Portsmouth in 1982 possibly heading on to the Falklands, one Chinook sounds great but there had to have been at least 10 flying over I was only 7 and I was well impressed my brother suffered from a dodgy ear so it wasn't so good for him, living in Ireland we don't get much fly overs from airforce jets, back in 89 though I did see a Nimrod flying over north county Dublin search and rescue mission I think it was,
I've only ever seen the CH-47 Chinook in flight and I think it's only been once while driving south on the 5 Freeway in Burbank CA. It was a pair of black Chinooks with refueling probes, indicative of the 160 Special Operations Aviation Regiment (think Black Hawk Down). Those two came thundering north over the freeway and right over me. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. I'd love to watch something like this up close!
Ik woon vlakbij (Wageningen) en zie zeer regelmatig een Chinook voorbij komen. Niet zó laag uiteraard, maar het blijven indrukwekkende en fascinerende toestellen....
I love the sounds they make - the "human" voice when engine exhausts point at you, the rotor whistles and woca rotors slap the air \(^v^)/! Another chopper fave if mine ❤️🏆🥇🚁
Great footage!Would you be okay with me featuring a part of it on my channel as a little compilation? If thats okay, I will ofcourse credit you and include a link back to your video!
Seen lot closer than that those tree lines would be asking for a shave and haircut from some of the guys I saw back in the 70’s and you better tell them no burr haircuts or you get one
Так все идеально было!!! Замечательные кадры и звук что надо! Но пока в конце не начали болтать люди🤦♂ ну зачем вы испортили весь кадр своей болтавней???? Все вам поговорить надо!

That pilot is having way too much fun
I don't think I've seen a clip that shows the Chinooks WOPAWOPAWOPAWOPA sound better, incredible footage!
Lmao
Welkom in the netherlands

“Beating the air into submission” in a glorious way. Just going to listen to it again, turning the volume up first, thank you for posting this

Pushing it like a fighter jet. Crazy physics defying machine, looks like it's not supposed to fly.
Besides the UH-1H/N and earlier Huey models, the CH-47 Chinook is the best sound in rotary wing aviation.
No lies detected
I once had 2 Bell212’s inbound and misstaken them for a Chinook, same sound
Just listen to that sound coming off the CH47 niccccccccee!
Great footage! Wow.
Perfect video to explain what the Doppler effect is too!
Sorry, that needs reporting for flying too high, and too far away from everyone !.
God bless the Dutchies 🇳🇱....love from the UK 🇬🇧
They are having fun!

Sweden have never operated the Chinook, you mean the CH-46 Sea Knight which is smaller than the Chinook but look similar.

Godspeed RNLAF!
Mooi geluid, beter dan in andere videos, je hoort echt het geklapper van de wieken, zoals in het echt.
the rotors sound so damn violent... and the way it just *goes up* 🤪😁
My Dad Was In USMC I Remember Him Telling Me Those Felt Like A Controlled Accident. He Would Have Loved This Video. Thank For Sharing. ☺
What's Up With Your Shift Key?

The one dog is like “Not sure what it is, but it looks hungry so I’m out of here!”
One just flew over my house so close it shook the house and freaked the dogs out
😂😂👍🏿😂😂😂
OH WOW!!! Who needs Airshows??!!
I sooo miss flying around in one of these beauties.
"Hey Chinook pilot, your lost dog is over here!"

It sounds like a helicopter and a jet at the same time!

Really good video and the sound is absolutely awesome!

@@nauji In his defense the Chinook is quite easy to fly.
People here are taking him too seriously. His name is joker, ffs. 😂

I hope that big open field still exists rather than being paved over for housing more of Musk's millions.
