It's Time to Pull The Planter Out!

- It's Time to Pull The Planter Out, but first we're gonna need to shuffle some equipment around so I can actually get to the planter without moving the combine. Whats a John Deere Shuffle on the Johnson Farm without at least a couple dead batteries?! We made it home from California just in time for the biggest blizzard of the year. Everyone loves clearing 10 ft snow drifts from their driveway. I know I do!!

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Hi, my father passed away last month, and he was a big fan of yours. He had stage 4 cancer, and when he was doing well, we would all sit around watching youtube with him. Thank you for your content, and keep it up. This channel and your projects were often the best part of my dad's day as he was going through a rough time.
I can’t even imagine what you and your family have gone through. People in general are often not aware of the effects they have on others and in your experience I’m guessing Zach had no idea his content helped create some fond loving memories of your time together being entertained and informed by Zach. I hope you and your family grieve the way you want to and heal together as much as possible.
At least it's cold, snowy, AND windy..... I'm glad that we're not the only ones that get blessed with cold, snow, and wind all at the same time! Hurricane force winds are the BEST! Especially when you JUST cleaned up the deadfalls from the hedgerows into the field........
I've been a subscriber on various devices and usually enjoy your vids, humor, patriotism, farming knowledge and more. I'm not going to survive long now, maybe not even into planting season. My congestive heart failure is bad - heart only pumps 20% of my blood - and i'm going pretty fast.
Thanks for being you and letting us share your life. Love Brad
Brad, Sorry to hear your not doing well. Praying for you!!! I'm a heart patient too.
So sad to hear this Brad. Will send prayers up for you.
Sorry to hear this, stay strong!
Hi Brad, I'm so sorry to hear about your issues. Stay strong, and thank you so much for all your support.
@@MillennialFarmer great video. Is the 1970s square body chevy truck 2wd?
Zach.... Tractors have 110 block heaters.... PLUG THEM IN THE DAY BEFORE THE SHUFFLE!!!
EASIER ON BATTERIES AND STARTERS AND...AND...AND
Believe it or not these were all plugged in.
I feel your pain of being sick of winter…but you know what they say about March in the north, in like a lion out like a….lion
That was quite the storm. We had 5 foot drifts in the yard. The end of the driveway had a 4 foot drift. I haven't seen snow in the yard like this since '97. I'm with you on this winter. I am sick of it.
So funny just like my father who moved from Canada. He was sick of the snow and the harsh Winters. He was tired of shoveling driveway just to be able to go to work 😂 lol. And now since we live in California he misses the snow LOL
The track at Bristol looks great this year, we got done moving the dirt back in about a week ago now. She’s ready to race for y’all!
A cold noise sound is a sound created by bearings with no oil. Cold oil is slow to pump. One reason for 120v oil heaters.
LOVE the "old school" sound of your Scottsdale pick up! Our '77 GMC Sierra Grande sounds the same! Nothing better! Groovy! THINK SPRING!
I love watching your channel it's cool watching your family helping you. And your boy and your daughter to I hope her arm
Got better today
Thank you for the vid and making me appreciate where I live, sw KS. lol I was loading trucks from the bin this week and it was -5* wind chill one morning and I felt so glad I wasn't up der in Minnesoodamn cold yeah now. lol
Looking forward to the video you do with ZK. That dude is the real deal he's a hell of a mechanic
That's exactly the guy that popped into my mind when he said he had a cameo coming up, neat!
I second that hes definitely a smart cookie
Looks like you have the same weather issues as WI. If you don't like the current weather, wait 10 minutes. Perfect day for shed Tetris. At least you have the snow and that moisture for planting.
Your shots outside in the cold and blowing snow and that shot of your tractor sitting by the house after dark with the lights on take me right back to my growing up years in Canada.
Awesome video Zach, man you guys are some snow up there this winter, been a snowy one this year, an a cold one, I'm ready for spring like everyone else an y'all are, thanks for sharing 💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸
This is the first time I've ever heard you complain about the cold! I guess it was that visit to our sunny California!! I've watched for years now, I thought you just liked that insane cold! Hope the sun shines on you soon!!🌞🌞🌞
I'm sick of this winter also. I know it's good for the soil, putting moisture in the ground, but for driving trucks cross country, you may out run one storm, but coming back you catch it. Or a new one comes across. Enjoying the break this week until next week.
We're getting closer! It's been in the 40's in my area and is supposed to be in the 60's this weekend!
Thanks for the exciting but freezing cold shots Zach, And Becky for making him do it. ;)
I can't imagine having to deal with the cold all the time. We only deal with it a few weeks of the winter in southern Indiana. I'm a racer from Indiana can't wait to watch your racing adventures on the other channel
ive never even seen snow and im 34
What are you gents speaking of ?! S Indy and no snow till 34 ?! Xcmon man
At least you have moisture for spring. Here in Nebraska we set two records for February. We had the warmest day on record and the coldest day with a measurable snow fall of .01” for the month.
At least you guys are getting some moisture. I know it's snow. But wish we had something. 70 degrees today in South Dakota. Today was nice but we are dam dry here . Great videos keep them coming
NE Texas March 1, it was 72 degrees and sunny. We will be planting corn in 3 weeks.
Here is 78 with light breezy winds. Just perfect for me!
As a Southerner , seeing this amount of snow is mind blowing 🤯, we’re lucky to get at least 4 or even 6 inches of snow here in Central Tennessee. Just wow 😮
Yup, looking forward to seeing the video with ZK, I saw his video with your phone call and his trip heading your way. LOL Heck of mechanic for sure. Cheers :)
Thanks for the vid Zach. The content is great.
Thanks for all the effort you put into getting interesting camera shots!
Love watching these Winter videos reminds me when I live back there
Hello Zach God bless you and all your family and also your farm 🚜 my friend.
I'm with you I am sick and tired of the snow and cold
I feel your pain. I'm a couple hundred miles north of you and the snow and -20 to -40F temps plus the wind are getting tiresome.
Great job good wrenching really enjoyed it thank you for sharing and your time was really great loved it
Zach, I really enjoy your videos. We farm in central Texas its going to be a high of 75 today. Corn is going in the ground. We sure could use some moooisture. Stay warm.
Went to the races in Bristol last year, really good time good racing. Hauled the tow trucks there, doing the same thing this year.
I am with you... it's time for winter to be over and for Spring to come! You should put your snow pusher on your cabbed skid steer. Then used the tractor and blower later to blow back your berms. Makes things go a lot faster.
I know that feeling where your hands just decide to be in pain after going from being too cold to a decently warm temperature. It chuffing hurts and is annoying.
Also, that was a pickup?!?! It looked like a snowbank with wheels!
Yep, i got the same thing. Just cannot deal with cold temps. It's actually a thing called "Raynauds Syndrome" that worsens this condition.
Old time freedom, AWSOME. LOVE THE SCOTTDALE
Wish we had your snow on the west coast. We are in for our second drought.
Gee, I feel for you. I'm here in the Philippines laying on my sofa with a fan running on high sweating. Great video. Thank you.
Just driven down from International Falls to Sioux Falls, could not believe how windy it was out there !!
Understand frozen hands, you have my blessing. From the White Mt. of NH.
THANK YOU for speaking to agribusiness and FFA students today at South Central College!
Glad to have you back on your farm channel.
Some of us NW Iowans would enjoyed few extra inches of snow to get the sleds more than we got to. Although I know most of us didn't miss moving snow this winter.
Ugh! So much snow. We're having 70° days this week in NC. 🌞
3M Thinsulate knitted gloves. They're thin enough so you have dexterity but protect you from the worst of the wind chill. I wear a pair under my mittens when shoveling/snowblowing so I don't have to have bare skin exposed if I need to take off the mittens.
You need some mittens..... and I totally agree I am so over the winter oh, and we didn't even get nearly that much snow.
Our truck had twisted frame Rails we loosened the crossmembers bolts chained on a long pry bar straightened and tightened the bolts.
you live the life i tell ya, love from up here in the middle of canada. looks like we have more snow to deal with.
As you clear snow and comment on the bad weather I,m sitting on my front porch in shorts and a t-shirt enjoying a sunny 70* day and not a lick of snow anywhere to be found here just outside of Lincoln, NE. You know, just to rub it in.
Hi Zach and Becky from Australia. You can keep that snow Zach I could not imagine living in that environment. We are in autumn here and winter a few months away yet. Fortunately we do not get any snow here, just frost's or lowest temp is about -6c and in the summer we can get up to 42 c. I have bad Arthritis so I m not a fan of the cold weather.
Can we get an updated equipment tour?
It's a brisk 75 degrees here in Tracy, CA. I almost had to wear a jacket to work today.
I can't remember a winter with less snow here northwest of Milwaukee. Trails haven't been open once.
The California tour was full of great info and chuckles. Thanks for informative and entertaining content.
Love watching you and your dad working together. Something I didn’t get as he passed when I was 18.
I'm very lucky.
Blessed. It is truly fun to watch the dynamics.
Envoys of the snow, didn’t get any this winter and the farmers are already tilling the fields
They make these really warm things called gloves :)
Grettings From The UK - Upwards & Onwards Zac & Becky
So Sorry for Your Loss... may He RIP
I hope that snow brings a bonus when it melts we could do with a bumper harvest this year
Born and raised Minnesotan, now living in North Idaho, and I still get a chuckle out of folks bitching about winter while living in the North.
Embrace it. Moving snow is fun, especially when you have such equipment at your disposal.
As a fellow Minnesotan
I’m sick of winter too
But you do know they came out with this handy invention called gloves
They tend to keep your hands warm for about five minutes depending on the quality
I know this as my hands stop working also depending on the temp
Great video
Thanks for sharing
I'm in New York and not half as bad as you guys. I go through about 3 to 5 sets of gloves a day rotating them in and out of the heat.
Was just suggesting hand warmers or electric heated gloves
Beat me to it, Jeff! Maybe it's just a Millennial thing. They are tougher than us Boomers!
It may be bitter cold but at least you are getting some moisture .
Super pumped you are coming to my hometown for a race!
Sure glad I no longer have to deal with the snow and cold. Loving life in Texas!
I’m glad spring is right around the corner. I’m glad I’m not the only one that hates winter.
Hello from Canada great videos
That's amazing seeing your dad move like that with his new knees!
I put new wear parts on my planter in June before I put it away ,then I can lay on the nice soft grass.
Just around the corner nice day that is
My hands and feet have been constantly in pain from being cold ever since I had covid. Its horrible being a mail carrier in the winter weather now.
Are you missing the only thing to really miss about California? Nice and warm.
Not sure of the time lapse between not much snow and 4ft deep but it’s like wow to me who has never dealt with this issue before.
I live in Iowa and I'm still waiting for winter to come. Only had 7 inches of snow this winter.
Always enjoy watching your farm, sorry it's 65 here today.
In Canada we have some thing we call mitts. They work great.
I was going to inform him of the new thing they call gloves, but mitts sound better to keep your mitts warm
Can fully understand being done with moving white! But we have none around here, barely gotten any all winter, no added moisture for season!! Dr appt silver lining but it is!! Enjoy the white n grow it all!!!
My sympathy to you people farming in your area I like our winter here in Queensland Australia
Here in southern Wi, we’ve only gotten 21” and have been in a drought since last April. I would gladly take some of that snow :)
Right, like just one state over and it’s feet of snow. I live East central WI and I pushed snow 2 the entire winter with most of the winter bare ground. I also believe that they get far more snow then WI as well.
Not sure how you can listen to that yapping every time you start something. That would drive me crazier than I am now! 😂
You need my hunting gloves. I use a thin pair of camo gloves that fit inside thick fingerless mittens. When I need to pull the trigger I flip back the finger mitten portion which has a small magnet in the end that snaps over the back of my hand. Light wind protection for fine work, and then extreme warmth when you don’t need dexterity.
You should have Minnesota hands by now; I lived in MN for 38 years and now Wisconsin for 8 years, and we don’t complain like that about the cold. Millennials….🤣
We haven't had hardly any snow I think 5 inches all winter plus It was 73 today and it's going to be 75 tomorrow and that's is in Nebraska
If your sick of snow check out the footage from Brisbane Australia where I live we had over 800mm of rain in 4 days..some places like Mt glorious had 1100mm of rain in 24hrs...we are experiencing some of the highest floods and rainfall totals on record...its starting to receed and the muddy clean up begins...we had a similar flood and rain in 2011 and we all thought that was a 1 in 100 yr flood but its happened again...I think I'd rather snow than what we've just been through a couple of days again
Awesome you’re coming to Bristol, going from 1,500 miles away to within 45 minutes from me.
Such an exciting time of year to be on a farm!
Not really its the slow season lol
@@mesh1248 I was referring to starting to pull the planters out to get ready for spring planting.
As a Texan I couldnt live through winters like yours.
Yeah we get a few freezes every year but they dont last but a few days.
Today it's sunny and 75 just the way I like it.
As a Floridian I agree with you
@@wantapgt
Of course we have the heat and humidity but you get acclimated to it after awhile.
I'm outside everyday winter or summer sitting on the back porch by the pool.
Long as you sit in the shade and have a fan and a cold drink it's all good.
Ya it barely broke 10 F here about 80 miles north of the Can/US border, everybody thinks it’s a gorgeous day 😜
@@corypaterson7352
Fucken Brutal!!!!
Last year we had temps below freezing for six days. Busted pipes everywhere.
Thank God it rarely happens down here, like every 100 years.
I'd move back to my native Minnesota in a heartbeat if it wasn't for my severe snow allergy.
My dog, Bodie, barks at Anna every time you start any piece of equipment.
We need the snow. Much needed mooooooiiiissstuuure
I assume that was that last blizzard that rolled through middle of February. 4 days of wind no lower than 30 MPH...., the cattle hated it and I was right there with them...., that was a bad stretch of days!
Oh, Anna - you poor girl. Be patient - I think I can get you that ride.
HEY, ZACH - any way I can subscribe TWICE???🤣
Hope you get better weather - bless you, Johnsons !!! 😁👍🙏🏻🇺🇸🌽
Only 80 degrees here in Bullhead today -- -- Just rubbing it in a little.... If you leave that snow there long enough it will melt -- maybe
He’s a great guy. Really busy knowing what he works on.
Good to see y'all Zack
Indiana we doing the same but without the snow. Keep up the good content
Wow we pretty much have got know snow this winter where im at
You are by more patient then I am with those batteries. I would have new ones sitting there so when I had to take the
Cover off they would be changed. But my trucks sit outside and it’s not enjoyable messing with the charger
