    In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny home living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off-the-grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition and Interior Shell complete, we turned it into our Tiny Home on Wheels and are now traveling!

    I got goosebumps knowing you were literally in my town!! Sonoma County is one of the loveliest places I've lived.

    I’m a retired Safeway driver and pulled a 50’ trailer across 20 to Fort Bragg 3 times per week. I loved that drive except in the fog.

    California has so many distinct regions, but IMHO the North Coast is the most beautiful and the people are the best. Sonoma County is a great place to live.

    We lived in Willits for 13 years. Thought we'd go to the coast a lot, thought I'd volunteer at the Mendocino Music Festival, but that one hour of twisty windy road - even in a compact car - was wearing. We ended up going over to the coast for breakfast in Fort Bragg and the music festival a couple of times a year and that was about it.

    Thanks. That was quite a lovely adventure. I lived up on the Mendocino coast in Fort Bragg for 8yrs.I didn't like the roads going in and out ,Hwy 20 from 101,is so Curvey. I was terrified most times. Mendocino is lovely, the Headlands and thee ocean. The town is cute and small. So many little Towns's many beaches, and forest. A beautiful and Special place.

    There are certain areas on Hwy 1 where I don't feel safe driving my car on it. Seems as if they road is falling into the ocean. It is straight down if you make a mistake.

    Fort Bragg is my home town. I have driven that stretch of Hwy 20 you didn't care for hundreds of times. When we were kids we called that stretch of road the ultimate home field advantage. Teams from other towns would travel on school buses and half the kids were car sick when they got to us.

    Hi Mela and Don. Really enjoyed your video the week. I loved the nature walk but the best was for me was the cost walk so relaxing and calm besides the beautiful views not for getting the sound of the sea.

    Hey Mela and Don, PanoramaDan here. We have been exploring Southern and Central California for the last couple weeks and have been asking ourselves the "why" question regularly. The views and scenery have been out of this world but being "flat landers" from FL most of our lives doesn't help. All in all it is been worth it. We love the videos, God bless and safe travels!

    20 is Treacherous, even for a car, motorcycle. Next time take 12 or river rd. Through Russian river to Jenner. Go an hour north and hit Stillwater Cove for the best oysters an camping right on the water!!!
    PS that TeePee goes for a cool 3 mil here

    Hi Don and Mela,
    I've got an interesting question:
    How many gallons does this 40' bus take and how many miles does it take you two until your next fill up?
    I've followed pretty much all of your videos since the beginning including your build and your breaks from your bus build.
    I am so sorry about your legal issues and hope you get them resolved 🐝 your videos are at times breath taking.

    Oh, my old stomping grounds. Love that area. But . . . when you said you drove up the 101 and turned onto the 20, I went "Oh no, not in that big bus." Favorite ride on that road was in a 1972 Mercury Cougar with a Super V6. Low to the ground with plenty of power.
    Are you coming to Washington?

    • @Rehabit8
      @Rehabit8  Рік тому

      Where were you to tell us not to go down that road 🤣 kidding! I’m glad we got to see Mendocino but we’ll probably never take the bus down there again! Definitely going to visit Washington! Any tips on where to go and where not to take the bus? 😆

    Love watching you guys... Looking forward to getting my bus done and on the road. :) Maybe we'll run into each other one day. ^.^ (edit:) Tight curves are a pain. The only thing you can do is take it slow and easy and just ignore the haters lining up behind you... Just remember they're jelly of your rig in the first place! :)

    • @kathydemetri6955
      @kathydemetri6955 9 місяців тому

      We can see that @NoOneFPV doesn't care, but keep in mind that all of us locals that live here have to use these winding roads to drive to work, doctors, school, etc. Please pull your rigs over when you are able to let faster drivers pass. It's the law, and it's the thoughtful thing to do. Thank you

    • @NoOneFPV
      @NoOneFPV 9 місяців тому +1

      @@kathydemetri6955 Either you've never driven a large coach down tight winding roads and have ZERO clue about how much stress one is under while doing so in order to maintain safe operations, or you're a very impatient and dangerous driver no matter what you're driving. On tight winding roads, there often is no USABLE shoulder and passing lanes are few and far between. I don't care if you're the president behind me on a winding mountain road, I'm not going to pull over on a shoulderless road in a no-passing zone and present a hazard to other drivers and/or myself just to let some impatient 4-wheeling arse get by me because they're late for their job or school or whatever. YOU can wait for a passing lane or a safe area to pass and if you're too impatient because you're late? Guess what! That's on you, not the slow rolling coach. You should have left earlier. If you want to make generalized assumptions ABOUT me, you'll get a more pointed response FROM me. In an argument between the bus and your tiny little car... Guess who wins the argument when push comes to shove?

      Hi James, glad you enjoy our channel so much! Thanks for watching :)
      We can go pretty far without needing to fill up but we never let her go far below 3/4s full. We rather fill up often so we never run the risk of not finding a truck stop or gas station and running out of diesel. I forget the size of the tank but we put in about $300 at a time generally and it would probably take close to $1000 to fill the entire tank.
