Brendan…What a wonderful comment. You summed up the appeal here beautifully. I agree. I have gotten addicted to decay videos, but so many of them are done by, well, not the sharpest tools in the shed. This isn’t just old stuff, it’s storytelling…and being a journalist, I love that.
I am born and raised in humboldt county, i have so many memories and stories of the places here, and you did an amazing job showing its beauty to the world ❤️ thank you!
You should do a you tube and tell your stories. Nobody says enough about it. I always hear the bad stories. But there has to be good stories too. I can’t imagine being raised there around those beautiful trees. Just the thought of having those magnificent giants around you as you grow up. I grew up in the central valley with no giant forests in town. Boring.
For a one-man show your videography is incredible oh, most people won't realize how long it takes to make a 2 second clip of the motorhome driving by, or the different angles such as the Drone footage and artistic framing. You are truly a professional Dustin! The editing and soundtracks always make for the best content on UA-cam. You deserve over a million subscribers.
There’s so much production value here, you’re practically a one-man show! The music, oh man- that really got me relaxed and feeling like I was right there with you! Those abandoned looking towns have predominantly mid-century modern architecture, which tells me that they were developed during the golden age of cars-the 1950s and 1960s. That was a time when gas was more affordable and people wanted to do everything they could with the family car! Picnics, motor lodges, roadside attractions, and driving through big trees were a must! It’s sad to see those aspects of Americana disappear. I’m glad you’re focusing on the journey, more than the destination. You’re inadvertently creating a record of places many of us would have never seen without your efforts. Thank you!
So glad you found our little secret corner of California. I made that same journey just a week ago on my Harley ( in August ) . I keenly appreciate all of the time and effort it takes to create such elegant footage. Thank you!
That was a majestic and peaceful drive thru Cali, a side I never imagined. Glad your girl crossed the bridge- the excitement was contagious. As always, drone & tunes on point. Looking forward to the next vid!
From an old over the road truck driver here, I’m impressed that you navigate such a large motorhome with trailer in tow. I must confess that navigating your rig is more difficult than a traditional tractor trailer. Especially the types of roads you choose.
Thanks for the trip. Now you were in my old hood. Grew up in Northern California. Orick, Ferndale & most of those small towns all along the river even into Hoopa an Indian Reservation were flooded in 1964.....a 100 year flood. It was bad & I mean bad. All the towns were under water or in water. At least the ones that weren't destroyed. We were stranded in Hoopa for months before they could get crews in there to rebuild roads & bridges so we could get the hell out. Left & moved to Oregon. But it was good to see your trip again. Spent many camping trips into the Redwoods. Fun times.

It’s a breath of fresh air following along your adventures, it’s easy to get lost and lose sight of the bountiful splendor nature has to offer with big cities and ppl chasing glitz and glamour all the time these days. I’m glad to know there’s still people like you that haven’t lost sight of how wonderful and exciting going out and hitting the open road is and stopping to explore. Thanks for these awesome adventures Dustin.
Love you, Dustin! Adventure IS the Destination 💗 I was so excited right along with you as you and your Moho crossed that bridge! Thanks for sharing your shining light 🌟
Oh, boy, I am loving it. Your enthusiasm is catching and the scenery and music make it all perfect. Thank you for including all of us in such great adventures.
Orick isn't entirely abandoned... And you missed the turn for Fern Canyon! That's where parts of Star Wars and a slew of other movies were filmed! Glad to see you're taking the scenic alternate routes, it's the best part of 101. I saw so many familiar places in this video! I've been playing on this coastline for years!
My brother in law just sold his place on Toad Lane (RD.) last year. I'll miss that place & the old biker bar, the Mexican restaurant & taking the drive out to the beach to surf fish.Of course, the Orick Cafe is gone now & Martha has to have passed away too. @@shy404usernotfound
This is one of those episodes that leaves me almost speechless. There is so much grandeur in California, thanks for taking us along on yet another spectacular adventure! 🤠
If a fully loaded logging truck can go past you on that stretch of road, I think your motorhome and boat trailer can do it! Loved the trip, thanks for sharing!
The reason for not allowing lg motorhomes is because the have to travel slower and impede traffic. Most lg rv are driven by people who can not even drive a logging truck
Love this one. The wife , myself, my Mother in law and our two kids took the coastal trip in 2012. From the northern border to Santa Cruz, the best trip we ever had. Sequoia National forest was the most humbling place I have ever encountered, the shear size and age of those trees while sitting on the forest floor among the ferns and moss. It was truly a life changing experience for my whole family. Love the channel , love the videos. We hope to have our skoolie done by the end of the year and restart our adventures.
This was a great episode. Loved the "Inbetween" stuff. Those old houses in the forest were magic. Great work, mate. Keep it coming. Rob, Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺
Those old houses were once rentals at Fenches you could rent them for the weekend or a vacation, great swimming hole down below the cabins and in the summer it's nice and warm. Grew up in Eureka and drove on the avenue of the giants everyday delivering news papers for the Times Standard news paper in Eureka.
@kristiyanklichev5759 My Great Great Grandfather owned the lumber mill in Fort Bragg. He married a Pomo Indian in 1812 the band of Indians there at that time live on the Little River about ten miles north of Fort Bragg. That's why the U.S. Calvary built the fort hence the name of the town was established as Fort Bragg.
Love the California coast and redwoods. Research the flood in December of 1964 ,many of those towns like Myers flat were severely flooded or washed out by the Eel river. My family had to evacuate Meyers Flat after losing almost everything they owned.

Love your 'In Between Videos'! In a world where nearly everything has to be planned around schedules your lovely, meandering romps down old roads through small, forgotten towns is a breath of fresh air and very much appreciated - as always, thank you for taking us along!
The Northern California Coastline has some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see and find. You can get lost in its beauty. Majestic forests and old growth .. and it is all fairly much preserved. You will find some small town areas like Orek and others that just got lost due to expansions and more modern Interstate Highways and Freeways. They just kind of went off inland and were faster and easier to travel. So all these beautiful little places have become forgotten.. and left out. These new roadways left them behind and the world went on without these small places... Hurting many small businesses. I grew up in the upper North State of California. During the colder winter months it is really wet, windy and colder...so people tend to avoid those areas. Which hurt the small towns even more. Depending where you go ..how far you're traveling you may even come across the old amusement park that used to be along the northern coast area.. Now long forgotten and hidden away by overgrowth. Almost no signs of it are left. It used to have the best log flume ride there was.. and it was eventually sold to the Salt Lake Lagoon park in Utah.. as also a train ride.. I was in the same area as you.. from Crescent City down towards Ukiah just at the beginning of April. Spent a weekend in the redwoods and stayed at an Airbnb. Loved the time up there . It amazes me how, when I was little and visited these areas of the redwoods often and I still recall how massive the trees were. Then as an adult this last visit.. I didn't have that same effect of the grand size.. I guess perspective as a child changes as we get older . Yes the trees are still massive and awe inspiring.. but they just didn't look as big as when I was little. At 10:50 ish.. I believe you're at an old forestry station . Looks familiar as well.
My first time across the Golden Gate was on the back of a Harley it was so surreal but no matter how you cross it it's always exciting! Thanks for the ride Dustin!
I made that drive in 1979. I drove down Avenue of the Giants - totally worth the extra time it takes. I got out and hiked a path into the forest, and the further downhill I went, the bigger the redwoods and the ferns got. It was an Alice-in-Wonderland feeling, as if I were getting smaller.
As always, beautifully shot and awesome information. One of my big take-aways, though, was the road map! So rare to see them used these days. I still love them and was thrilled to see one in this video!
I love your presentation. Thanks for going to the glass beach. I haven't been over there for a couple of years. Your drive through the redwoods was nice too.
We did the same trip pulling a 24 ft trailer behind a full size pick-up truck over four days, just took our time and pulled over to let people pass when we could. Thank you for sharing and bringing back some great memories.
First time stumbling into this channel. Attracted by the subject, been a Russian River resident for over 30 years. Every time I see a video about this section of California, I am torn between pride and amazement at the beauty, and sadness, because it lets the secret out. I have been traveling to Fort Bragg and Mendocino for vacations since 1970 and it has changed IMMENSLY since then. The North Coast is in no immediate danger of becoming L.A., one serious winter there and most would run for cover, but it is getting more and more developed. With "work-from-home" more popular and available, that removes one of the main limiting factors of living up here - income. Cannot blame anyone for moving to the Redwoods. They are the most magical trees I have ever seen, and I have seen more than most. Nice job, sir!
Dustin, oh my, the drone footage over the bridge, through the clouds, was amazing. And the Embedded objects in the rock down on the beach, whaaaaaaaat????? I saw the look in your eyes. Your gut intuition said “it doesn't seem right” and your correct. Ive been to the beach and truly hoped you would make it there. The evidence I saw in person and in your video with melted, bent, broken, smashed objects fused into the rock. In actuality, part of the rock. I even found rock specimens with similar man made objects and broken glass all fused into an igneous obviously metamorphic conglomerate rock. So awesome you witnessed it. I plan to do a video some day
Thanks for showing us foreigners all the beauty of distant lands! Means a lot, especially the random small towns and strange finds on the beach ❤ Also thanks for being you.
My absolute favorite drive of all time. I love how you started the video with the Pacific Ocean on your right and freshwater lagoon on the left! Thank you for sharing. Safe travels and happy adventures🏕
You missed seeing Ferndale and The Lost coast, truly amazing. Going down Ave of the giants, there is a turn off for a small back woods road that goes to a town called Honeydew, then on to Ferndale then the lost coast. If you want rugged and beautiful, this is it.
Last time I went over that bridge I was headed to vancouver from winnipeg in my brand new 1978 trans am firebird it was breathtaking. Thanks for this 👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍👍
Your adventures take us on old forgotten places and breath taking landscape abroad. Dustin thank you for your amazing travels and safe journey where ever you go.👏 Happy holidays 😁
My Husband & myself drove the coast out of San Fran on our honeymoon. It got dark fast & heavy fog, at the end of Sept 1991. All hotels where full, had to sleep in our mustang. We pulled over to sleep, couldn't see a damn thing. Luckily we didn't reverse to far back, b/c when we woke we had parked on a edge of a cliff. Probably about a 100+ ft down the embankment to the ocean. That was scarry. After we left we drove down the coast & stopped at Hurst Castle & checked it out. Wow what money can buy. Thanks Dustin stay safe! And enjoy the heat, we cold here. And it's only going to get colder.
LOVE this adventure! Yes please more like it. The Adventure is the way to a destination; no matter if you have one in mind or not. Learn about yourself along the way~ take the time to enjoy. My dream is to visit Alcatraz.
Drove down 101 in April of 2020. It was super creepy, we were the only car on the road for miles and miles and miles. All small places that we drove through looked almost deserted. It appears things have gotten a lot worse by the looks of your travels. Thank you for your videos, much love to you all 💞🗺️💞
We love following you on your adventures! We look forward to getting the notification you have another video out. You have some great skills at putting together a great video. Thank you for bringing us along 😊
Thank you so much! My dream trip also! Oooooo.... the driving looks spectacular! Glass Beach has been a desire for many years. That IS the destination for lifetime drivers. FarmerMJ
I never even noticed a lack of "destination" as a thing, just thinking the adventure *is* the destination. That is a fantastic trip, thanks for taking us along :)
Always wanted to take that route and now I have. Stills are ok but your video shows off the area so much better as usual. The lack of other human activity surprised me but beautiful highways. Re destinations, some of your best adventures have been the result of having no plan I say go with it when the opportunity presents itself. Thanks for the ride :-). , see you next week.
My wife and I got married in the Arcada community forest, us and 18 family/friends. Super small and perfect. This video brings so many good memories. Thank you.
*"The Adventures In Between Dustin's Destinations"* Featuring: BIG trees, windy roads, beaches made of glass, moss covered roofs, TINY amounts of excitement while crossing bridges and an incredibly awesome soundtrack.
I loved this trip you took us on today. Living my dreams through your adventures as we cannot travel any amount now. You're doing what I love like hiking and exploring. Thank you. 😊
As a California resident since 1962, I've scoured lots of the landscape from Mexico, Arizona & Nevada to Oregon, delighted to be within easy range of so much of this amazingly diverse state; yet, there's still plenty here on my bucket list! Now, I've added Glass Beach! Thanks for the 'find'!
I live in Humboldt County Cali, and glass beach isn't that special lol. Tourists manipulate the pix, ect to make it look a lot cooler. There's cooler, more magical places to see. Like Fern Canyon.
Brings back memories for me...I grew up in the SF bay area and as a child I have been over, under drove and walk across the Golden Gate Bridge many times...I'm 70 now so been a long time ago! Now I have been in Oregon for 40 years...Thanks for the memories, great video!
Life is about the journey not the destination!! Your adventures, the scenery and your amazing photography make the hour or so spent with you so uplifting. Thank you Dustin for your humour and positivity. Gill 🇬🇧
You are my favourite thing about UA-cam. Even more than cat videos 😆. I would love to adventure the way you do and so I do it vicariously through you. Thank you for all of your effort and enthusiasm to also make each video a mini movie. They are fantastic! 🙏
It's always a awesome adventure in ur videos ❤️ everywhere u go is a destination ☺️ thank u for sharing ☺️ love the music u picked as well. Be safe on ur trip.
You took me home today. I am from Pacific Grove on the Monterey Bay. I took my 3 sons to see the giant Sequoias many times. I love this video although it made me homesick. I now reside in Missouri. Gramma Candy
Dustin, I love these videos man and your music is so on point. In fact, I've found several new artists thanks to you. Just wanted to say thanks brother. Safe travels!
From start to finish everything about this vid was wonderful entertaining and skillfully put together. You have set the bar very high! We hope to get this good as well. Closing in on 100,000 subs and it’s well deserved we know how much work goes in behind the scenes and you make it look effortless. Bravo!
@@Destination_Adventure That glass is not from us and the trinkets help solidify my suspicion,, they have an ability to heat temperatures beyond glass forming. My findings, Ian Armstrong.
Boy am I glad to see a video from one of my top 2 favorite UA-camrs today (My other favorite is Brent Underwood, his channel is Ghost Town Living and he owns a ghost town with a ton of mines called Cerro Gordo by Death Valley. It would be so awesome if you could visit on your way down or back up but they may already have some snow, it's at 8,500ft or so. Having a bad day, can't wait to watch your vid in awhile! 😊. Hope you're having a great day Dustin! Happy Travels & Merry Christmas! 🎄
Seriously Dustin, you could have your own show on the discovery channel. Keep doing what you are doing dude. Simply the best. We’ll be doing that route next year in a little tear drop trailer. Can’t wait.
I grew up on the central California coast, so interesting & fun to watch you exploring the areas I grew up wandering as well. The California coast and highway#1 is made to wander, no destination needed.
So cool to see your excitement! I love it! I grew up outside a little town called Georgetown, in the mountains of California. No electricity, running water, or phone for years. It was a great life for a youngin'. My point.... I grew up going to Fort Bragg and Mendocino (hope you got to make it there too). I consider it my second home. So happy to see you stop there. Thank you again for the many great memories in this one, many up North that I got to spend with my dad a few years ago in our motorhome, and when I got married, my hubby and I did it all again in my Rav4. Good times! Glad you got to do the scenic by way through the redwoods. When you get back into Oregon, check out Sunset Beach if you are able. You can camp there too. Just gorgeous! The botanical gardens are gorgeous there as well, and there's a slough close by that you can hike at. You can get to it all with your motorhome. Thanks again!❤
Excellent choice of music. And as an American that lives in the Midwest I have yet to see the Redwoods. Farthest west I’ve been was Glacier NP. Thanks for another great video, stay safe and enjoy our amazing country!
This video was so much fun and gorgeous gorgeous views. I haven't been that way since I was a teenager. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
Dustin, it is your exuberance, your unmitigated joy that turns B roll into A roll...Personally I'd watch you eating a sandwich or picking junk off a beach before I'd enjoy many other subject matter self proclaimed experts on many other channels. You just want to show me stuff and you do. so carry on.
You are such a brave man. I am learning that a warning of any kind is a challenge you just can’t resist. You take Fraidy-cats like me on adventures we would never dare take on our own. Thanks! Just enjoying our ‘friendship’ from my recliner. Feeling safe in Texas.
Us humans are no good sometimes but mother nature finds a way to make it beautiful...ah man such an incredibly true statement. Love the adventure videos
G'day Dustin, good to see the adventure continues and also the fun, amazing sightseeing, not a fan of the glass beach, how much plastics were dumped and are still polluting the sea, amazed by the amount of abandoned building you find, each has an untold story in most cases, cheers mate, travel safely, may your Christmas be bright and the new year special, lol, Neil 🤠.
I hope you've also learned that some of your episodes aren't about the destination OR the adventure, it's about you. We enjoy you; you're a gentle soul with wisdom beyond your years, a high level of resilience and independence, and your humor makes it impossible to hit the > button.

One of the best yet, and that's saying something! Soundtrack was a perfect fit too, bravo!
Yes you went through the Avenue of the Giants! That's one of the best parts of the drive. I love that drive!
Used to be called Wildcat Road.
Its so beautiful there!
@@maryberon4193 absolutely love the redwoods. Thanks for the info.
Dustin thank you for your amazing travels and safe journey where ever you go.👏
Happy holidays 😁
Thanks for sharing, Dusty. I'm a big fan of your work.
brings back memories thank you sir . Highway 1 is the best drive
Best video yet! Always raising the bar
LOVE this adventure! Yes please more like it. The Adventure is the way to a destination; no matter if you have one in mind or not. Learn about yourself along the way~ take the time to enjoy. My dream is to visit Alcatraz.
You are a wonderful man. Thank you for all you do here. Merry Christmas and Happy 2022 New Year !
FarmerMJ
The inbetweens are AMAZING keep them coming
Thank you.
*"The Adventures In Between Dustin's Destinations"*
Featuring: BIG trees, windy roads, beaches made of glass, moss covered roofs, TINY amounts of excitement while crossing bridges and an incredibly awesome soundtrack.
This was awesome! Loved that you took what my Pops would have called “the scenic route.” Loved it! Thanks Dustin! You never disappoint! ❤️❤️
Beautiful drive. Thank you so much for sharing.
That is so much more glass than I was expecting. Great video.
Gill 🇬🇧
A very beautiful, relaxing video for this viewer.. Thanks for the road trip on a cold wintery evening..
I grew up alot in San Jose. It's neat to see Northern California again. I'm in Montana, been here since 95.
Hwy 254 brought back childhood joys. Thank you for sharing 😊💜🙏
From start to finish everything about this vid was wonderful entertaining and skillfully put together. You have set the bar very high! We hope to get this good as well. Closing in on 100,000 subs and it’s well deserved we know how much work goes in behind the scenes and you make it look effortless. Bravo!
Thank you very much. That 100,000 will be so exciting for me.
I’m subscribed to both Pin in the Atlas and Destination Adventure and never miss an episode of both. Thanks!
@@briannave7326 Thank you Brian. We still have a lot to learn. Dustin's videos are top notch
Hey! I'm a subscriber to your channel too! Really enjoy sharing the trip with all you folks!🙂

That glass is not from us and the trinkets help solidify my suspicion,, they have an ability to heat temperatures beyond glass forming. My findings, Ian Armstrong.
Very cool from start to finish! 👍🏻
that was epic, absolutely love the sound tracks
Boy am I glad to see a video from one of my top 2 favorite UA-camrs today (My other favorite is Brent Underwood, his channel is Ghost Town Living and he owns a ghost town with a ton of mines called Cerro Gordo by Death Valley. It would be so awesome if you could visit on your way down or back up but they may already have some snow, it's at 8,500ft or so. Having a bad day, can't wait to watch your vid in awhile! 😊. Hope you're having a great day Dustin! Happy Travels & Merry Christmas! 🎄
The in-between episodes are some of my favorites. Gives a sense of grounding to this incredible life that you lead. Keep them coming!
So many cool unique treasures to be found at the glass beach. Golden gate was awesome 👍 thanks for taking us all along on the adventure.
There is so much joy and peace in each of your adventures, the way you present everything is just beautiful. Regards from India !
Merry Christmas Dustin, Safe journeys
Excellent choice of music. And as an American that lives in the Midwest I have yet to see the Redwoods. Farthest west I’ve been was Glacier NP.
Thanks for another great video, stay safe and enjoy our amazing country!
I've been marathoning your videos, I can't get enough of them.
Keep on getting better 👍 thanks
I adore your enthusiasm and your energy is contagious. Thank you
Thank you, I appreciate that!
I love the in between stuff 😊🤠 amazing videos and photos 🤩 as always sending you all the best wishes
Safe travels see you on the next adventure ☺️
This video was so much fun and gorgeous gorgeous views. I haven't been that way since I was a teenager. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
Awesome video, greatly appreciated it, awesome to see the golden gate bridge
Thank you so much! For your videos, it gives one a chance to see things that I haven’t had a chance to see traveling! Awesome!
I’m a California native. Love it!
Sir, thank you so very much for sharing your adventures. Good luck on the next trip.
Thanks for sharing your adventures and everything in between.
So glad you got the vibe of the GGB and San Fran. It's a GREAT place.
Wow Such an Amazing trip Justin love it the scenery is absolutely Beautiful thank you so much 😀
This is already better than 99% of the hosts and content that is made for major networks 💕 bravo man
That’s a really nice compliment, thank you.
