- The most beautiful and enjoyable coastline small town driving through Washington State, Oregon and California. We stayed in an awesome bed and breakfast and ate at a wonderful Italian restaurant. We will go back and we recommend Mendocino. We loved it.
The movie East of Eden based on John Steinbeck's novel was filmed in Mendocino. Summer of 42, Cujo and many other movies were filmed here as well.

The Julia Roberts film "Dying Young" was filmed here also. I was living here at the time and saw the film crew build the house on the Mendocino Headlands that was used in the movie. When they finished production, the house was disassembled and carried off. One day I was in town and the crew was pumping artificial snow on the streets to make it look like New England in the winter. Doesn't snow in Mendo!

Our favorite get away!I've been coming here since the 60s. Married in Little River 2012. Kayaked on the Navarro. Paterson's is our favorite hangout. Great shops with inevitable 'touristy' venues but always charming. The Headlands are nurture for the soul. The hotel is a time capsule of old school elegance. B&Bs never disappoint. Noyo Harbor up in Bragg is worth the drive for great seafood and views.
