Jefferson Graham retraces his late dad's travel steps, 30 years later, in the seaside Victorian village of Mendocino, where Jerry Graham visited in 1991 for his San Francisco "Bay Area Backroads" TV series. How have things changed since in a town where seemingly time has stood still?

I remember watching backroads as a kid.
Love this town! I was a guest of the Supreme Court's Solicitor General, Rex Lee in 1983, and sat in the audience to witness when offshore oil drilling was being fought against off the Mendocino Coast. The female attorney, who represented Mendocino presented the case very well and won in the ruling against offshore oil drilling when it was unpopular as a potential environmental disaster and would destroy the charm of the Town of Mendocino. Rex Lee did a great job as the Solicitor General. It was about two weeks later, I heard on the car radio while going to work that Larry Flynt got arrested for cursing at the Supreme Court. I can' t remember the date.
I remember that show. Bay area backroads. Loved that show.

Spent summers in Surfwood estates each summer from 1965 to 1973 , It was a different time!
You did a great job! I grew up in that area. Fort Bragg, specifically and I went to church in Mendocino and I learned how to swim in Big River.

Hey Michael! I agree with you totally. Trust me, if I had more Mendocino footage with my dad, I would have used it! The stuff I didn't use had background music behind it, and I didn't have copyrights for that! That said, this is part 1 of a series: I have footage from Chinatown, Mission District and North Beach in San Francisco, and those will post in the coming weeks. Thanks again for watching!
