It's really good, but I'm glad they are changing things so we don't know everything in act 1 when we hop into the full game
What's impressive isn't just that they've given us all these options, but that they've actually thought them all through and how to make each play style fun and interesting throughout the game. The Pathfinder CRPGs might have more options on paper, but most of those options don't matter in a meaningful way the games are equipped to react to.
Precisely. I've just been playing Wrath of the Righteous lately, and what you mentioned shows -- aside from a few dialogue changes here and there (which are still flattering, don't get me wrong), nothing is really there to distinguish you from other classes other than your hotbar and statuses.
Adding College of Swords for bard, and Fiend+Blade pact for Warlock is letting me recreate my favorite tabeltop D&D characters, in a game that's presenting probably the most accurate depiction of tabletop D&D gameplay.
I still am so stunned that Larian included so much outside of the PHB. When College of Swords made the final list I was ecstatic. Have adored my time in early access and am psyched to play the final product in just two days! EDIT: Knowing now that they even have unique "dancing" weapon animations for the Swords Bard makes me simply ecstatic! I'm guessing that's used for the Blade Flourishes, though if they also incorporated it for the subclass' weapon-based spellcasting then they've really gone all out.
I like a lot of their choices, the hexblade is sorely missed though. Also, as the sorcerer is one of my favourites, I think I am most disappointed to see the storm origin as the only non-PHB addition. So excited for release. My first playthrough in EA was a lore bard and im kinda tempted to do swords for full release. Shadow monk/assassin sounds fun too.
I appreciate the exp drop for talking your way out of a fight, i love having a bard/persuasion character in these kinds of games. Manipulating conversations can lead to interesting results, but playing the murder hobo oftentimes earns you more reward and exp. For example, i often go back and basically murder the whole first island in divinity 2 before leaving because exp good, which doesnt really make sense for a good character but exp good lol. Not a criticism of divinity, and you certainly don't have to do that at all, just an example. Being able to avoid combat in a way that makes sense for your character without gimping yourself too hard exp-wise is a great idea.
I'm wondering if they have a system in place to make cheesing it more difficult... talk your way out of combat, get exp. Then kill everyone anyway, get more exp.
@@originalulixWouldn't be surprised! In div 2 there's many examples where you can say, complete a quest for the reward then kill the quest giver after for additional exp and sometimes unique loot, or murder/loot the town before moving on if you feel so inclined. There's no backtracking once you leave an island so it's certainly one way to optimise exp 😂
I love how Larian admitted that they had to create custom magic items Monk is guaranteed to get to keep them from falling behind the other martials. I really hope Monks dont suck as bad in OneD&D

Are they saying that Swords Bards have unique weapon animations? All the time? Or just when they Flourish? If it's all the time, that's beyond awesome.
I think my only chance of escaping character creation is if there's some kind of random button and I just let fate decide. Because after watching this video, I'm convinced I want to be every class and every subclass. Ahhhh!!!! Help me, Boo!
I like how they will have musical instruments for Bard, and even non Bard chars can use as long as they have the Performer ability. So even if u dun have a bard, you can have a char play.
I’m 100% convinced after hearing him talk about: This game being the most complex game created till date. Just look at the amount of combinations to develop here and you’ll be like no way it was done in 6 years.
I'm still unsure what the best summoner class is. And by summoner I mean many pets, not just one pet, as many posts on the internet seem to misunderstand that concept. A true summoner build, that has many following pets, or at least many pets castable during combat. I assume it's the Wizard Summoner or Necro?
I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE RELEASE! Sadly, I'm going on a 2 week vacation the day after it comes out. I've waited 3 years for this, whats another 2 weeks though, right?
I get not wanting oathbreakers to just respec out of the consequences of brwaking their oath, but in the process they made it impossible for oathbreakers to adjust their feats, stats, skills, or other build options without first restoring their oath and having to find a new way to break it if they want to stay oathbreakers. which if anything it feels even more gimmicky and game breaking to restore an oath and break it again just to fix a mistaken level up choice.
Critical hits on 19s has always been so underrated for the champion. Especially if you multiclass it with barbarian to attack with advantage every turn. Reckless attack+champion+action surge = so many crits.
@@nickdziura7373 Definitely but you won't get that until near the end of the game unfortunately, just go half-orc though to have it from level 1 with savage attacks, then it'll stack with brutal critical once you hit level 12.
If you have a high charisma as a battle master, you can essentially play medic as well with temp hit points, at least on the table top anyway. Edit: Screw it, I'm making Harry Dresde.

15:28 I am really, really glad to hear that you tried to scale wildshapes with level better than DnD. Because I love this class fantasy, but in regular dnd, wildshape becomes really bad later on, and magic items make this difference even worse. From what i can see, nerfing them early, buffing them later and adding more variety by including some monstrosities is amazing choice. Now give me summon spells and I am good :D
Choices choices my god I'm glad I didn't play the whole Early Access, Wizard Necromancer is definitely something I want to do, but also Warrior Priest inspired by Warhammer Fantasy obviously, Heavy Armor and two handed 🔨, faith and holy destruction.
To add to this Ranger Players Rejoice! Larian Fixed Rangers better than anyone at wizards could have done! Wizards of the Coast - play this ranger - then copy everything about this ranger and paste it into One D&D
Not gonna lie, I’m pissed that they went Spores over Stars or Wildfire or Shephard. If Larian hasn’t modified that Druid, it’s gonna be one of the worst subclasses in the game.
@t.t6294 yea I think that's because as a druid you have multiple charges of wildshape/you can self heal As for beast masters - if they forget to bring a beast out or it dies in combat that's that. You can't bring it back out - so it's gotta be able to hold its own
@acephas3 well one of the sub classes has to be the worst XD BUT im sure they would have done something to change it up and make it viable They did take away the restrictions for metal armor - so using the spores druid as a multiclass option might be really fun
I think not having Death Domain Clerics is a huge missed opportunity. I understand it's not a core book domain, but Clerics are severely lacking in any "evil" domain -- even though there are a ton of evil deities supported in the game. Will feel weird in those cases. At least there are mods. Would have liked the reactivity though.
20:54 AHHHHHH YESSSS! I was wondering about that. I have a dragonborn (black) draconic sorcerer (white dragon ancestry) whose campaign got cut too short and Ive been itching to play my boy again. Seems I know my first BG 3 character now...
First Character will for certain be my Bardbarian Half High Elf , Wild Magic n Sword College he cant control his magic most of the times but he is doing his best okay ? XD
small issue in my camp, we had an incident where the oathbreaker knight saw me drop some corpses out of the camp-supply shoebox to use for animate dead, they attacked and now they are a corpse in my shoebox and i cant change my class because i cant atone for my oathbreaking shenanigans.

Most RPG's hide the die roles, and that's one of the reasons that makes BG3 feel real D&D.
They hype is REAL with BG3! Is it Thursday yet?
Thank you for this useful guide!!
Did Larian fix Monk by altering Ki, giving them magic items and then doing what it takes to make them look good?
Do what is One D&D’s excuse?
I'm loving playing as a warlock right now but I can't wait to try out some other classes
I love how Larian admitted that they had to create custom magic items Monk is guaranteed to get to keep them from falling behind the other martials. I really hope Monks dont suck as bad in OneD&D
Its wild that i got my money's worth already. Me and my buddy had such a great time in early access and the game hasn't even came out yet lol. I'm so excited 🎉
An excellent overview of the classes! 🐉
I got this game sunday night. Download took forever so i only got about 30 minutes into it before I had to get some sleep. Then Monday afternoon a storm came through and took out power for me and about 60k others. Current eta for power is Thursday.😢
Why does the third still feel so far away
Because you probably waiting for the ps5 version like I am
1 day 21 hours and some minutes away
@@williamanderson2136 ps5? i salute you sir, stay strong.
Right?
Lol PS5. Why play on inferior consoles?
Are they saying that Swords Bards have unique weapon animations? All the time? Or just when they Flourish? If it's all the time, that's beyond awesome.
I think my only chance of escaping character creation is if there's some kind of random button and I just let fate decide. Because after watching this video, I'm convinced I want to be every class and every subclass. Ahhhh!!!! Help me, Boo!
I like how they will have musical instruments for Bard, and even non Bard chars can use as long as they have the Performer ability. So even if u dun have a bard, you can have a char play.
More then that, if you give your whole party the performer feat you can make an orchestra!
I’m 100% convinced after hearing him talk about:
This game being the most complex game created till date.
I’m going to try being a Druid and dip into ranger for the companion . This way I can call my bear turn into one and bear pandemonium 😮
the fact that my first eldritch blast actually surprises me with how it looks and sound!
I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE RELEASE! Sadly, I'm going on a 2 week vacation the day after it comes out. I've waited 3 years for this, whats another 2 weeks though, right?
we love you, larian!
I'm glad you touched on Illusion, I really want to play a gnome illusionist as a play through.
Dont forget brutal crit for extra crit damage
@@nickdziura7373 Definitely but you won't get that until near the end of the game unfortunately, just go half-orc though to have it from level 1 with savage attacks, then it'll stack with brutal critical once you hit level 12.
Can't wait to play my creepy not so good Spore Druid. Thank you Larian for opportunity.
First character I’m making is my Tiefling Gambler Rogue.
Very excited! I've played EA so many times now. Cant wait to see the rest of the game!
Choices choices my god I'm glad I didn't play the whole Early Access, Wizard Necromancer is definitely something I want to do, but also Warrior Priest inspired by Warhammer Fantasy obviously, Heavy Armor and two handed 🔨, faith and holy destruction.
Moon druid fans rejoice! we're getting our long awaited buff
To add to this
Ranger Players Rejoice!
@@michaelcords4006 yeah. beastmaster is great now. right now in EA, they're much stronger than moon druids forms lol. that was a bit concerning
@t.t6294 yea I think that's because as a druid you have multiple charges of wildshape/you can self heal
As for beast masters - if they forget to bring a beast out or it dies in combat that's that. You can't bring it back out - so it's gotta be able to hold its own
@acephas3 well one of the sub classes has to be the worst XD
BUT im sure they would have done something to change it up and make it viable
They did take away the restrictions for metal armor - so using the spores druid as a multiclass option might be really fun
I’m so sad I have to wait till September but I’m so glad it’s coming at all!
Super enjoyed this video! I'm still solid on what I was wanting to play. I'm going to be a dragonborn Sorcerer.
Almost glad I have to wait another month for the PS5 edition as I really can't make my mind up about what type of character to play, so many options!
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH 😭
Jeez paladin or monk? Teifling, half-orc, or dragon born??? So hard to pick a first!
Big hopes for the Four Elements monk actually being usable - i hope it has all of its options available
I've got about 31 more days left to study this video for I pre-ordered on PlayStation.
Only 2 days and i cannot wait
Okay but when are you going to implement the Mage Hand Legerdemain for Arcane Tricksters, that the game claims is available but it isnt?
I think not having Death Domain Clerics is a huge missed opportunity. I understand it's not a core book domain, but Clerics are severely lacking in any "evil" domain -- even though there are a ton of evil deities supported in the game. Will feel weird in those cases.
At least there are mods. Would have liked the reactivity though.
Hi, thank you for this video! Is someone able to set timestamps for each class? That would be very helpful.
Check the description
@@Snyde91 thanks, looks like it was added.
@@REVOLVERE I think they just copy & pasted someone’s comment lol
20:54 AHHHHHH YESSSS! I was wondering about that. I have a dragonborn (black) draconic sorcerer (white dragon ancestry) whose campaign got cut too short and Ive been itching to play my boy again. Seems I know my first BG 3 character now...
Timestamps please
First Character will for certain be my Bardbarian Half High Elf , Wild Magic n Sword College he cant control his magic most of the times but he is doing his best okay ? XD
"Necromancy is fun" :D
Larian 2023
Damn. Good thing nobody ever wants to multiclass their Oathbreaker! Otherwise this decision would appear kind of silly, huh?
small issue in my camp, we had an incident where the oathbreaker knight saw me drop some corpses out of the camp-supply shoebox to use for animate dead, they attacked and now they are a corpse in my shoebox and i cant change my class because i cant atone for my oathbreaking shenanigans.
Could you release the descriptions of spells, classes and subclasses and what they gain at higher lvs so that we can start doing some builds
@@JimmyR42 Cool! I was already seeing some, I was just afraid they would look very different in the game.
