Best advice I've ever heard about getting a tattoo:
1. Decide on a design and a place on your body to get a tattoo.
2. Wait a year.
3. Decide whether or not you think it's still a good idea.
4. If yes, get the tattoo. If no, don't get the tattoo.
I have one tattoo on my leg, and I've had it for five and a half years. Never regretted getting it. I still love it today.
when I was 11 I asked my mom if I could get a tattoo, (my dad had a really nice small tribal tattoo) she said I had to think about it for a year before she approved. I'm 16 now and I still want one. its really small so she just told me a few days ago that I can get it for my 17th birthday. 😊 So happy!
Pretty sure you have to be 18 to get a tattoo.
+Spencer O'Dowd
Actually in the state of Hawaii, with parental consent and presence you can get a tattoo starting at the age of 16. I only know because my cousin got one. At least, I think it was my cousin.
Oh okay. In New England you can't do that.
Spencer O'Dowd Dang, that sucks.

As popular as tattoos have gotten with young people, I imagine removal is going to be a huge industry in 20 years.
I'm one of these "young people" you reference. My tattoo is a memorial tattoo for my sister who passed away. No laser removal in my future.
@@larissaalcorn3406 and that means tattoos haven't gotten more popular and that a lot of people won't regret getting them one day? Tattoo removal is a bigger business than it use to be and it will get bigger. Your tattoo doesn't change that fact.
My thoughts exactly. It's a very good investment for the future.
Depends if its a "I'm 18, tattoo time with some weird object, yet I can't afford $800 tattoo thats large and amazing so I'll get the large and somewhat good tattoo that just looks weird and makes people wonder who in the world thought a kangaroo looked amazing." or "I'm drunk AF, I'm getting a tattoo" kind of person. If a young person made it a impulsive decision, you'd probably see them in the surgeon's shop. Yet, if it was someone who actually thought about and put it to something like in @Larissa Alcorn kind of situation, they wouldn't decide to do something such as removing a tattoo that has purpose and means something to them.
That better mean the price goes way way down.

What is a required magnification of the microscope to see them?
He's probably using a 1000x magnification. Most microscopes magnify 10x from the opticals, and I think he's using the 100x lens, do it ads up to 1000x. A lot of people will mistake 100x for the 1000x because they only read what's in the lens. Most microscopes have the 10, 40 and 100 lens to choose from, and since blood films don't have the tissue architecture compound to analyse, you magnify to the most you can to actually look at the cell level. But if you can get your hands on a 400x it's still perfectly good !
Yeah they're cute😂 Watch Cells at Work

This is the correct way to get people into laser clinics in my opinion. Explaining how it works is a big factor for many people considering cosmetic surgeries.
Sometimes things are more interesting when you understand them on a deeper level. Laser Tattoo Removal for instance is basically deciding that you no longer want your tattoo so you want to help your body poop it out using incredibly complicated optomechanical phenomena. Wow... there's a sentence I never thought I'd type. I hope you enjoy the video.
thank you very much for taking time to teach us these things in such an interesting and capturing manner ^^ I appreciate it!

So just as a clarification - Getting a tattoo is basically intentionally giving yourself an infection that your body's immune system will always be fighting...FOREVER?
Wouldn't that reduces the overall effectiveness of a person's immune system? Are people with large tattoos more susceptible to infectious diseases?
In one way the immune system is "trained" which keeps it alert, just like training your body helps the immun system. Could be very wrong, though
fozzibab I think there are a lot of things that make you susceptible to disease but considering that your body is already working 24/7 I wouldn't bet on it taking to much of the bodies time up. I think things like vaccines excite your immune system more than surface layer ink. There are also not a lot of large veins around the skin which I take as meaning that even if the body wanted to it couldn't send a lot of white blood cells at a time. As for sending lead through you immune system it may be an increase but I don't feel that it would be that detrimental to your health(long term effects are always possible) unless you are going through tattoo removal in which case a lot of harmful chemicals are being taken through your immune system.
fozzibab Maybe, maybe you are just making your immune system a little bit more alert with every tattoo by pumping up more white cells, so more tattoos = a tiny bit more efficient immune system ? Anyways I love my tats :)
MetallF Yeah, but if all those white blood cells are focusing on your tattoo, I dunno how effective they'll be when an actual threat comes by. It would be interesting seeing a study about this somewhere, comparing the immune systems of people with tats/without tats.
Sean Fronteras the difference is likely negligible to nonexistent, as someone earlier said the area of skin that gets the tattoo doesn't receive a lot of blood flow, and additionally the number of white blood cells that could possibly be concerned with fighting the tattoo is miniscule in comparison to the number in the human body. Remember, there are white blood cells all throughout your body, from the innermost parts of your torso to your fingertips. Most of the blood in a body isn't near the skin. Also, judging by the fact that a tattoo stops swelling and being irritated within days of application, I think it's somewhat safe to assume that the body simply acclimates to it, or at the very least stops attacking it vigorously.
6ix9ine needs to use some of that.

This was awesome! I have a half sleeve and calf piece and I totally agree with Destin. Wait till your mature because your ideas will change. I'm only 23 and I would definitely change some of my tattoos. I don't hate any of them, I would have just done them differently. Take your time, Love your idea, Know what your doing!
P.s. A word to those who are strongly against tattoos: Everyone is born with choices, no need to despise someone because they chose to put artwork on "their" body. Tattoos have been around for hundreds and hundreds of years. The only difference between someone with tattoos and someone without? A tattooed individual doesn't care what your skin looks like.
Don't hate me for the color(s) of my skin:)
yeah it's a bit more complicated than that. people do care if you wear a tatoo, specially in more formal enviroments. you're not gonna be taken seriously. you're basically handicapping yourself in exchange for some ugly (let's face it, the vast majority of tattos aren't pretty) doodling on your skin. i'm not strongly against it (as long as you don't cover yourself on them), but i would NEVER make one.
***** I'm sorry you feel that way. Us with tattoos aren't taken seriously because of people with views like yours. The ink on my body doesn't slow my work ethic or get in my way. My tattoos are memorials to me, I could care less if you think they're ugly...
***** That mentality is not only culturally specific but dying out.
RustyWolfFX To those of us a bit older, tattoos were rarely seen on regular people. Sailors and soldiers got them, and people who had been in jail. Now they are 'fashionable', which isn't really a valid reason to get such a long lasting thing done. Like it or not, people are suspicious of tattoos, from the jail tat, to self absorbed millennials who think they live in a consequence free environment. You don't, you knew society has an opinion about tattoos, and chose to get one. Society isn't going to change to make your life easier.
engineeredlifeform No, but society will change because they're becoming increasingly normal, and as they become increasingly normal people with tattoos and people who are comfortable with them are attaining higher and higher positions of power within the professional world.
The anti-tattoo mentality is dying, and has been for decades now. It's not our fault you're irrational, and stuck in your ways.
If all the laser does is shatter the pigment particles, then this would predict that there would be little visible effect at first and that the tattoo would fade over the weeks following the laser treatment, but what we saw was an instant fading of the tattoo.
The laser breaks the ink into very small particles. Since they’re are small and so spread out we cant see defined lines. The ink is now extremely spread so much you cant see it(or assmall darkened areas).Over time the liver filters out the small bits removing it from the body. The longer you live the less you’ll see.
Hey Lindy, did not expect to see you in the comments here.
The visable effect you see as a reaction to the laser treatment is damage to the skin, not the tattoo fading. The lazer 'shatters' the ink particles by rapidly heating them to very high temperatures.
I haven't had and removal done, but my tattoo artist also does removals. His machine has a air hose fitted to keep the skin as cool as possible during the procedure.
Also unlike getting the tattoo, removal takes many visits over a long period of time, some results may be seen on the first treatment, but depending on the pigments and their depth many rounds of removal may be needed!
@Lindybeige Love your videos man, wasn't expecting to see you here either. Cheers!

Everyone whining about tattoos in the comments is just kind of annoying. "Hurr, tattoos are dumb and pointless". Interesting. How ever, since the metals goes through your liver, does that mean it will put some amount of extra strain on it?
Would this be a potentially risky process for someone with an already weak liver?
I was hoping to see an answer to this question
I was wondering the same
me too.. still waiting the answer..
I don’t know if this is the right answer because I admit that I know practically nothing on this topic, but I’ll put in my two cents. If you think about it, this is a very minimal amount of metal and as such, should have a very minimal strain on one’s liver. I would assume that this doesn’t have much risk as it’s such a minuscule amount of heavy metals.
I notice your comment it's interesting as many people use it for style what I'd they used natural colors may the risk will be less.

Got a question! Which colours are the easiest to remove then?
It depends on the wavelength of the laser and how they react with the chromophores.
SmarterEveryDay you're just showing off with the big words, lol ;)
Cecilia T. Clausen Black and grey.
Cecilia T. Clausen Black and Grey are the easiest ink colors to remove. Usually, a Yag(1064nm) laser works well for these. Green is the most difficult followed by light blue (Yag and Alexandrite lasers 1064nm and 755nm).Red/brown/yellow/orange respond well using 532nm laser.
***** I looked at this and I can't find this Jason Carter Tattooist any where, he supposed to be the tattooist that wrote this book. As for the product, some of the adverts for it are written in
very broken English, even the book 'get rid of tattoo' sounds like
broken English. This leads me to believe this is some kind of scam. I
tried to find photos or videos of people that had before/after shots.
There are videos with compilations of photos but I know for a fact that
some of the people in said video have had their tattoos removed by
laser. This further leads me to believe this is a scam. I also checked
loads of videos that were connected with tattoo removal and there are
numerous people suggesting this site, go and see for your self. Another interesting fact is everyone promoting this books site, even Stanley Hagen, only opened a UA-cam account yesterday. This book has 'SCAM' written all over it.

Thanks! I don’t have any tattoos but seeing some of the work my friends have gotten done throughout the years makes me want to invest in this laser!
It's hard to understand what some folks choose as their "forever" art. Most of it isn't worthy of being in a comic book.
That removal was oddly satisfying. Also how bad are tatoos/ tattoo removals for your liver?
Like drinking 500 bottles of alcohol.
Jk I don't know lol.
IVIusicFiend take one down, pass it around 499 bottle of alcohol...
Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;)
Just for your info, it wasn't actually removed. The discoloring was just the "shockwave" that was happening. It will go back to black after a few minutes and slowly the pigment will fade over an extended amount of time.
Question: if the ink is heavy metals, is there a possibility of poisoning yourself by covering yourself with tattoos or is the real danger lies in the removal process? Or is there not enough ink to even worry about it?
Additionally... does laser removal bombard your body (liver) with a sudden dose of heavy metals? In other words, are you safer/better off not doing large removal sessions at once?
BLUEROCK Interesting concept to think about. The heavy metals might be removed from your skin, but at the same time, would be brought to the liver, which might get overwhelmed. I think that these sessions happen in different periods of time, as in you would get some of it removed, wait a while, then get more of it removed, as to not only not damage the tissue, but also your liver as well.
No, you're not going to poison yourself by getting a lot of tats simply because that ink, as explained stays beneath your skin and your body removes it so incredibly slowly (the fading) that you're not going to get any kind of ill-effects from it. As for the risk of removing the tattoos, there is some but that is mitigated by the fact that they do tattoo removal in multiple sessions instead of all at once. It gives the body time to process and recover.
I honestly hope in the near future people come up with a easier less painful way to get rid of tattoos , I’m sure in this day and age they will
I thought the Dr. was great! Very informative guys! And I'm going to tell my coworker to watch this. He's heavily inked up and is Always sick, like serious things and he's young. What if he's heavy metal sensitive?! Could this be the underlying cause of his many ailments? I bet a blood test for heavy metal consideration levels would be interesting....
How'd everything turn out?
@@mitlanderson I told him but he dismissed it. He's currently having lung problems to where he was hospitalized for 2 weeks (not covid). But I still find it interesting that there could be a connection. Heavy metal poisoning is no joke!
Wow.. I am afraid you are right..
I really like this doctor. Such a nice, intelligent, and helpful guy. Awesome video as usual.
So, the white blood cells never give up and say, "This ink particle is just too big!"? They keep trying to get rid of the ink particles for your entire life? That doesn't seem healthy. It seems like your white blood cells should have something better to do than get rid of your tattoo. I wonder if there is any data to indicate that those who are heavily-inked have more health problems.
True that....
WBCs are not sentient beings. They go on their way, travelling through the entire body. If they come across something they recognize as foreign, they will try to phagocytize it.
I'm betting the heavy metals being around have more of a negative effect on the bodily systems than the white blood cells being more active.
yea, seems to be a burden to your immune system. Body expends a lot of energy trying to remove heavy metals of all things.
The laser tattoo removal process seems unhealthy. Trying to remove an entire tattoo within the body instead of physically getting it out. As far as being covered in tattoos in general, I don't see any problems happening. The immune system stays busy for as long as you have the tats and they don't just focus on only tattoos since particles are very small. I have a 68 year old uncle covered in tattoos, stronger than ever.

Since your white blood cells are trying to take away the ink constantly. Does this mean that getting a tattoo weakens your immune system?
No.
Craig Duffy It could be argued that a tattoo might strengthen you immune system. An immune system that isnt used would weaken over time. Just like how being a germophobe and disingecting everything can actually cause you to become more sensitive to germs. If your body's systems dont get used, your body reduces those systems and uses them less.
Zeke Aeloen Your body produces antibodies for germs. That's why you strengthen your immune system through vaccination. That's not what happens with tattoo inks. Here you're only stressing it for no reason.
That's a very good question actually! I'd hope Destin could see this and help us out with it more. Anyone else want to know this?
ErebosGR It's hardly stressing it, and even if it was, it wouldn't be bad for you.
Millions and millions of people have tattoos all over the world and I have never heard anything about it weakening their immune-system.
Bruh you are now such good friends with the shop that now you can just casually walk in, ask if you can steal some ink, and they’ll just look at you, say “yeah” and then continue what the we’re doing... now that’s savage

modisp So I'm not sure about this, but it is most likely safe. Those heavy elements are bound to other elements to form molecules. As long as that bond is strong enough so your body can't split it up, you should be able to excrete that molecule as a whole. Heavy metals are dangerous because our body has a hard time getting it out of the bloodstream and other places. The extra elements in the molecule can act like "handlebars" so it can easily get disposed of. That's also how the drugs that are supposed to get heavy metals out of your system work.
But still. No thanks to tats...
modisp hevay metals ain't good, but in the ink it's a very little amount of heavy metals which isnt "lethal"
You ingest and excrete heavy metals all the time, keep in mind.
If you eat fish you are ingesting mercury. If you eat beef you ingest copper. If you eat most meats you are eating some kind of heavy metal. Same for some plants depending on how they are grown and where they are grown. Despite common belief we do need some heavy metals in our body and our body has ways to use it when consumed through the mouth. Now as someone with tattoos myself. I haven't had any infection or any health problem from a tattoo. I have a half back tattoo. Now keep in mind. You don't want to go in and find out you are allergic to zinc as you have gone most of your life without ever touching the stuff.
Generally that is the worst that tattoos have done to people... allergic reactions.
Wow. This is fantastic. Definitely in my top 5 favorite episodes that you've done.
Koz4Christ - MC Server Tutorials You are everywhere O.o
***** Like a ninja :-P
but what about the damage the heavy metals do to your liver and everywhere they flow through ? is it negligible or do you need to take counter measures ?
Sishir Baid well the liver actually removes stuff from your blood all the time, baiscally when you eat all of the vitamins, minerals and stuff that isnt fat go into veins that actually empty into the liver, and from the liver there a separate vein originate that doenst contain all of the stuff you just ate. so the liver takes most of it out of the blood and stores it. so the liver can absorb heavy metal and then eventually process them and get rid of them eventually.
so a little bit of heavy metals in the blood will not cause liver damage, however a lot of heavy metals cannot all be processed by the liver and may cause damage to all sort of organs, including potentially even the brain.
***** i mean if its pretty small it shouldnt be that much of a load on your organs, but if your going for big tattoos or a lot of them, yes. get something you would never want to remove.
+Alexandra Dixon It'd be a silly financial investment anyways if you want to get it removed later.
If you don't have any intention of keeping it, might as well go with non-permanent ink.
***** Fair enough, I was just saying that it'd be in your best interest to be entirely certain about it.
These days, some people can be way too spontaneous, and that can lead to regrets later in life, especially with tattoos and removal of them. Go figure why so many people still tattoo their significant other's name on their body, only to then break up.
Immune system: Hey this doesn’t belong here.
Me: YES IT DOES. LET ME LIVE.
I like how I found this video where you recommend The Martian (the book) *after* seeing The Martian (the movie)! ^^
THIS NEEDS TO BE A TV SHOW.
Woah... now I want a microscope
dtorr_1 I've got one and it's cool af!
Get one, its a great investment and lots of fun!
As a matter of fact, we now do have paper microscopes available and they are so cheap. Just Google foldscope.
6 years been wasted cause I only just found your youtube channel!

GET SMARTER EVERYDAY*
ME: WATCHING 10/15 VIDEOS A DAY
If you think getting tattoos causes discomfort.... wait until you choose laser removal ! (Speaking from experience)
TATTOO IS WORSE
@@leelunk8235 If you say so.
QUESTION: What does the liver look like on someone who has just had a large tattoo removed?
Man, your videos are so cool and well constructed. I really feel like I'm getting smarter. The only problem is that it's not everyday ;p
You sir have the most beautiful channel on UA-cam. I'm rly getting smarter every couple of minutes.
Possibly the coolest video I have seen anywhere. Thanks brother
Wow, this is definitely something new to me. I always thought it was an ablative process where the ink just sort of 'blew out' of the skin.
For reference, it takes three picoseconds for light to travel one millimeter. A full wave of light at 755nm would take two picoseconds. This would be awesome to watch with one of those trillion frame per second camera (trick) setups.
(Also, the shot of the white blood cells mobbing the ink particles was amazing. Did you have to wait a while for that to happen?)
pew pew!
I have a Yakuza Full Body Suit and I'm going for laser removal. Wish me luck.
Good luck man
No you don't you're not yakuza quit lying on the Internet to feel cool
Zwan ziger shut it
***** No.
Zwan ziger You don't have to be Yakuza to have a full body tattoo that is similar to the kind the Yakuza get... The internet is just full of reference images.
So for larger tattoos when getting removed do you have to do it at bits at a time so it doesn't affect the liver?
I dont know the specifics, but yes, it is done in multiple sessions.
+8moter Thanks! nwn
I love the enthusiasm Dustin brings to every video. always a great watch, please keep them coming
Faze Banks is gonna need that for sure 😂😂😂😂

Cool that the laser doesn’t effect the arm hairs
I assume because The laser beams focal point is below the top skin :)
Omg! I've been searching the internet for an explanation for removing tattoos and ur video is so perfect!! But u didnt do slomo tattoo removal process lol I love ur channel so much!! I've had like 20 channels over the years and I've subscribed with all them lol keep being amazing man!!
Wow, this is so efficient, I wasn't expecting that! I thought the process was much longer that that, but it looks faster than a blink of an eye! Impressive
Recommend this video to Mumble Rappers with tats on thier faces.
But they don’t want them removed. They got them so they have to focus on their career otherwise they will never get a job elsewhere
Tattoo removal starts at 6:56
I feel like if I know you at a microscopic level now. Good video as always.
A few years ago I listened to The Martian while parked along side the Moree Solar Farm in Australia. The area is rough redish gravel. It feels like there's no one else for miles. A storm came in and the wind over the panels made an eerie howling sound. It was the certainly the most immersive reading experience I've ever had. I highly recommend it
Luckily I put a lot of thought into my tattoos which all have the sort of personal meaning I'll never regret.
Your a rare one, most just do it because they want a tattoo. I applaud you ✌️
That audiobook is now a Film XD
Hes like: think a tattoo through before getting it.
Im like: he had a freaking sun! Wtf is wrong with it? XD
Mafalda Jackson exists
It was poorly done
In his case it was a "black sun", which is a white supremacist symbol.
@@Yamazon3 you have no idea what you're talking about. That is is definitely NOT the black sun symbol associated with white supremacy.
I really like that doctor. He is very well spoken and genuinely seems passionate about his job
Does the liver get damaged? Or not? And why? Because im curious about tatoo and our liver
no bro...you cannot donate blood when u get a tatoo...no problem for liver or any organs
@@rajeevkg4401 skin is actually a organ, so...
@@rajeevkg4401 Really? I've seen people with tattoos donate blood before. *facepalm* 🙄😣
rajeev kochupurackal I think you can just AFTER six months
my husband has a half sleeve and a couple other tattoos. all black and grey ink. all from early 2000s. he has donated blood every year for the past 4 years. so IDK why some can and some can't.
My Uncle always said a tattoo will last your entire life + 6 months (meaning that's how long it takes your skin to decompose after you die). All the same, this was really cool.
if I only knew all this when I was younger...
heavy metals... going to lymphatic system... liver... OMG...
AmazingAutumn 12 you drink alcohol? Go outside near vehicles? Do you drink squash? Do you eat meat? Everything is carcinogenic, literally everything, but among 8 billion people it’s not as common as you think if it was then we’d all have cancer.
I was reading a chapter "Lasers in plastic surgery" from my text book Grabb & Smith as i am a future plastic surgeon. I was wondering how it actually works to remove tattoo pigments by laser and your video popped up. The book explained the removal process the same as you and that senior plastic surgeon described (sorry forgot his name). Thank you so much and well done
Basically this has taught me to love my body and don't make it mad by getting tatoos
I wonder if laser treatment would work on removing scars? Essentially the same thing needs to be done to a scar in order for it to go away. The light could break up the collagen allowing the skin to reform in a more natural way.
So does having a tattoo damage your lymphatic system or your liver over time?
Kinda
It can depend on size of tattoos hence bigger tattoos are not removed all at once. Only a patch is removed and minimum 8 weeks later you can go for another patch. 8 weeks is more than enough time for liver to process most toxins. However some heavy metals are stored in fat tissue. So if you go through this process multiple times, more will be stored if you have more fatty tissue or worse fatty liver. This is why some patients may be rejected or given alternative treatments alongside like skin abrasion removal.
Man I love your constant enthusiasm
