Not only did you make a video while working on a costumers truck. You praised, and encouraged the folks that watched your prior videos , and did some on there own work. Great job. I would like to see you do a timing belt change on the sequoia or this tundra.
He did, watch his water pump replacement. He tackled both since the pump is behind the timing belt. I just did it myself and my tundra is running like new.
I just wanted to say that between you and ChrisFix I have recently done a LOT of work on my 2010 Toyota Tundra. I like ChrisFix videos a lot. But I find he doesn't work on any import vehicles. And whenever I look at my truck, compared to whatever car he was using, there is always some variance or slight change. You specifically work on Toyotas, and you are VERY thorough. And I appreciate the tips you give for specific things which must not be skipped. I've recently changed my rear differential, front differential, and transfer case fluids. I changed all 4 brakes and rotors. I replaced cabin and engine filter. As well as I just replaced all 8 spark plugs. Seriously saved me a LOT of money and I really enjoyed gaining the confidence learning more about my daily driver. I greatly appreciate all the work you put into your videos. I wish your shop was closer to me.
You are the best mechanic I have ever seen. You are patient, deliberate, thorough and honest. And you give excellent explanations about how to do things. I do a fair amount of work on my own and have for years, but I have learned much from you and sure wish you had you shop near where I live (Gettysburg, PA). Thank you so much!
I appreciate your videos much! You are an actual, authentic, and real mechanic. You are not a part changer. This means you actually have an active brain! Bravo, my friend. You are an artist of the first class. I have only met four or five such people in my life. If I lived in California, I'd stop by just to get you a cup of coffee.
Good to hear an honest mechanic take us regular people with you to do these jobs. Things like the gasket sealer you use. Your experience helps us take steps we wouldnt take otherwise .
Peter, you are an amazing teacher and mechanic, and it's wonderful how you praise and encourage others to try some basic upkeep on their vehicles. THANK YOU PETER👍
Couldn't have said it better myself the half moons are extremely important as well as the spark plug tube seals I recently did the valve cover gaskets on my 2000 4Runner and it has that 3.4 you're talking about so far I haven't had any trouble. Keep making the good videos man you're doing great! Lots of good info. And as I read on one other comment from some other video you did you like the Bob Ross of car repair the constant smile on your face calling me friend and you're very soft-spoken tone makes for a good video.
He is the mentor I wish I always had “don’t get discouraged”. Thanks for the encouragement and words of wisdom. I take my time, take no shortcuts, stay organized and clean everything as I have it apart. Thank you!
I was able to replace valve cover gasket on 1ZZ-FE Corolla engine. I enjoy your videos tremendously. You don't rush through explanation and can be understood. 👍 Too many UA-camrs only give high-level info.
Great Channel and you seem like a nice honest man. I recently fixed my window on my 2004 lexus IS300. The clips broke. Using videos like these I saved myself about 1100 dollars.
I thank you so much for this and many other videos. You have saved me a ton of headaches as well as money. I never figured that I would be making my own repairs but you have lit a fire in the mechanic in me that I never new existed. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
i just found your website (10/15/2022) and sincerely thank you for your kind production. I can only echo the other positive comments back to you now, and expect to redo my earlier job with your careful guidance. I'm treating a 01 LX470 with this same engine and 234K miles. Didn't know about the half moons or the sealer. That is precisely why I have leaks that I will address as soon as the parts arrive.
I love this! Thank you for the slow approach explaining the necessary things - no shortcuts! I followed a mess of oil under my Tundra on my passenger side to my valve cover, so I'm going to try to do this myself.
Will be doing my 4.7L V8 VC gaskets soon, got all the parts including new bolts/rubber washers and FIPC 103, thanks for this video. I bought two used VCs and cleaned and painted them so when I'm done engine compartment will look very good!
I really like your presentation/demonstration style. I like your pacing, your narration, how you point out the correct parts/tools, and what you show us. Very good and helpful videos. Thanks for producing them, sharing your experience with us. I am not a mechanic, but after watching your videos I feel motivated to try some things I have not done before, due to lack of experience. That is a very good thing you are doing, as a good teacher.
Your video was exactly what I needed to have the courage to do this myself. And you spoke to your audience with such respect and you shared some very valuable knowledge. Thank you sir!
I have always done my own maintenance and repairs on my vehicles. It is very rewarding when you finish and all works the way it was intended. I do have an up on many people as I twisted a wrench for 20 years. 😁 I do enjoy watching your videos, they are well done, no fluff, or exaggeration. Keep up the great work!
Great video with attention to detail for the intended results which is to prevent leaks. All the previous prep in removing parts to gain access will be for naught and likely repeated if proper attention to detail is not practiced. In addition to gathering parts, tools I am learning by reading and especially watching your videos as I plan to do a series of maintenance needs on my 2000 5vzfe Tacoma. Thank you
Wow that was a pain to do. Drivers side took forever. I didnt skip the spark plugs seals and i know why they skip it. Did the half moons and out it back on and fixed! Thanks for the video! 2006 tundra 2uzfe. 😀
Recently replaced my 2005 4runner with a 2019 4runner. Kept the old lady as I call her and now since she's a "spare" car I try to do everything that I'm comfortable with. I've always changed the oil and air filters. Moved on to spark plugs, diff oil replacements, AT fluid replacement, lubing everything underneath. Gonna try to keep her going 5 more years.....
That 2019 is nice looking but not even close as reliable as the 2005. You were smart to hold onto the old one for when they 19 gets towed to the dealer 😂
Great job and very good detail, I just recently did this along with timing belt and few other things, my first time for me. I have owed my 2003 Tundra since new and have 333,400/miles on it and valve cover started to weep during the winter. The only point i missed was putting new gaskets on the valve cover bolts, at least easy to fix! One other little tip is to spray the old tube seal with Kroil before you try to remove them, more likely to come out in one piece.
Thanks for sharing the detailed valve cover gasket replacement video if you ever do the timing belt and water on the v8 could you make a video if you have time thanks
I wish you would've done the harder side (left side) but excellent video anyways! I also learned from you how to properly clean the throttle body on my 2005 Sequoia, thank you.
Thank you sir! With your help and excellent video presentations. My son and I are doing our own maintenance on his 08 Tacoma 4x4 👍 Keep them videos coming...
By any chance, did anyone mention always loosen the fill plug before the drain plug? LOL UA-camrs are merciless, thanks for an awesome channel. You sure have helped me! Cheers!
Excellent video! I'm in the middle of this same project but have snapped 2 of the valve cover bolts off upon removal. Can you by chance tell me what size the Valve Cover Bolts are for a 2004 4Runner 2UZ-FE 4.7L?
The only issue we had with our was just the MPG but what do you expect for a heavy SUV with a 5.7 V8 4x4. We absolutely loved ours and was a great safe family vehicle. We downside to a Hybrid Avalon to better suit our needs.
Thank you for the tips. Was thinking about doing this job today as I have the parts. Everything except for a torque wrench. How much do I really need a torque wrench? You didn't even mention it in the video so am I okay just using hand feel here? Rather than the 43 in/lb or whatever
Well my friend, I am trying. I cannot seem to locate the power steering fluid reservoir on my 2015 Camry SXE I-4 engine. I think Toyota forgot to put one on. 😂
My valve cover gaskets look like the rivets holding the spark plug tubes have been machined off and new Toyota tubes pressed into place. No rivet left.

What’s the part number for the valve cover bolt washers? Thanks
