As a Lexus and Toyota owner this is one of the most informative and well produced car channels on all of UA-cam. You truly deserve all of the success that comes to you. Thank you for all that you do for the community. I would be honored for you to work on my Lexus someday.
I’m a current technician for Toyota of orland park and I can say this channel has helped me learn a lot about Toyotas and Lexus vehicles. Appreciate your videos keep it up
I had a 2003 LS430. The display went blank, and all my service reminders vanished. After researching, I called the dealer. The control unit in the trunk would cost $2,000. This control unit was really a DVD player. After further research, I located a used one online for $125. Installed it myself, and it worked perfectly. It even came with updated DVDs with the new road maps.
He’s the best Toyota/ Lexus Mechanic in explaining whats going on . What a good spirit . I leave this channel on and watch some videos over and over . It relaxes me .
They used a Fel-Pro valve cover gasket, I recognize it because I used it on a car that was eventually totaled 4 months after installation. I mean, it didn't leak in those 4 months, but at least I didn't have to deal with whatever would've happened in the long run
The fact that there were a couple parts of that engine that were made up of a hodgepodge of parts, such as the coils, and the engine still lasted to 600,000 should be even more of a testament to Toyota’s quality.
Laughed at 40:17. I have dealt with the older style on my 95 4Runner 3vze. On that engine, they're called cam shaft plug, or something along those lines. After a full engine removal & tear down to the short block, both of them leaked at one point or another during the first 500 miles while breaking in new ring & pinion. IMO, The Toyota FIPG placement is absolutely critical for valve covers to seal properly. Funny thing is.....my oil pressure is higher (better?) than ever. The 3vze is well know for fairly low oil pressure, but now mine is hovering around halfway on the gauge. Keep up the fine work. Some of us Toyotaholics simply enjoy your content, and learn more each video.
I’m addicted to watching everything this channel has. It is so interesting and informative and just so satisfying and fun to watch. I own a 2017 LS460 with only 24k so watching this LS going through this transformation is even more interesting to me.
I have a 2008 LS460 with 150k miles and only needed to replace the poorly designed control arms. With regular maintenance, this car is a dream to use on long road trips. I don't need a Rolls Royce. My LS rolls fine!
I about shit my pants when I saw how nice the cross hatching still looked, I remember about a year ago, I took apart a Jeep Liberty motor with 160,000 miles, and the cross hatch was completely gone. That is impressive, toyota. I guess that's why it's the only vehicles I buy. Love your work, brother, by the way. You're a true professional in every sense of the word. Also, thank you for the great entertainment. I guarantee you will be at a million subscribers before you know it.
A good tool to use with damaged connectors is a dental pic, that’s a must have for us in the electronics repair business. You can reach all round behind broken plastic to help remove it.
It's amazing that some Rolls Royce owners don't even appreciate the car, they just treat it as a status symbol. What an experience! I love big comfy sedans.
I have all these ideas for improving ride quality (optimiizing suspension frequency, reducing unsprung weight, new tire technology that aborbs a higher assortment of road imperfections) but sporty firm ride with more road feel seems to be in these days as it's easier and cheaper to design.
Love your work brother. I switched from having 2 v8 audis a couple years back to now owning a 2009 highlander with 2gr and a 100 series landcruiser with the 2uz. Best decision I ever made .
I am a Lexus RX owner, but normally wouldn't watch a rebuild video. However I'm enjoying yours based on your friendly style, and that your thought process is interesting. Short version: I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying your rebuild videos. Thanks, and all the best to your family.
The most I like in you is your patience while working, there are difficulties in fixing problems in this 600k Miles Lexus but you are doing it right and patiently 😊
The Half moon plugs are there to seal the outside of the head, because when the head is made the cam bearings are bored it also bores the outside of the casting, which means the half moon cut has to be sealed.
As a qualified toyota tech here in Aus - I’m a branch manager of a service /parts toyota location and I can relate to a lot of what you do - quality parts used on quality vehicles -lol . But my main reason for commenting is like you I like a large comfortable quality car - so I bought one a 2011 toyota century - so time for you to buy one - after seeing to rolls Royce drive - just more of the “Beer” budget . I mean my wife doesn’t like the century - but hey my mk4 supra with 700hp isn’t her favourite either ,scares her. Keep up the great work , I watch ever video
Unfortunately here in the USA we cannot import vehicles less than 25 years old if they were not sold here when new. The newest Century we can get in 2023 is a 1998 model.
I can’t believe I live in the Chicago Burbs, own Toyotas, watch CCN videos and didn’t realize that he operates out of the South Suburbs. I know where my vehicles will be going for service from now on. Great videos.
Hi Ahmed from an Australian living in Seoul, South Korea (KIA owner of course LOL). You would have to be the best presenter on UA-cam. Your delivery style is perfect. Calm, honest and extremely knowledgeable. I am hooked on your channel and I'm not even a car nut. Who needs Netflix when we can all enjoy your work? Well done on your new workshop and good luck with everything you do in life. An amazing man with an equally amazing back story. Good on you!
I knew something was amiss when I didn’t see a new CCN video today! Thanks for posting this one in time. I really appreciate all the great work you’ve done bringing this Lexus back to life!
I usually dont l like hour long videos in youtube, but this series is a must hour long videos, truly a treat to watch someone who is passionate about their work.
My dad gave me his 2001 avalon xls as a gift when i started medical school two years ago. I self-taught myself and used your videos for help and just as a joy to watch while making repairs on the the avalon. its at 216k miles and still running well. Im glad youre enjoying working on the car as that is something i can relate too. Good stuff!
Love my Toyota. Got an 08 Solara convertible for super cheap fixed it up to near perfect (no more leaks). It’s currently at 128k miles and has had the timing belt and water pump done at 100k. Nothing but classics and Toyota from here on out. Thanks for sharing all the knowledge.
I love this series. I have 2uz-fe engine 4runner from 2004 and 240k miles on it, so it bring me literally a tutorial what may be needed for my Toyota in the future. Much appreciate Mr Car Care Nut! Thanks!
I watched the whole video with great interest and joy I might add. I love seeing things put back to original, the way they're supposed to be. Thank you kindly AMD for including us in your rebuild ❤
CCN did this same, fine gasket work on my LS430 last year. At that time, I’d have loved to watch him do that work- but here it is!! Fascinating stuff. I know for some, this is a DIY job, but for me this is like Dentistry and Tax Preparation: there are some things worth paying for to have them done right the first time. Great video!
*You are doubly blessed: One, to have Ahmed's shop lavish some love on your ride. Two, receiving an acknowledgement of fact from The Man himself. Cheers!*
This series along with your RX330 dash video has given me the motivation to R&R the dash on my 50K mile 2007 RX350. Luckily, I was able to get the OEM part from Lexus. Thanks Car Care Nut. 👍
I used one of your old videos when doing the valve covers on my own LS. Paid extra attention to ensure the correct orientation of those spark plugs seals. There was quite a bit of debate about it on the internet forums...Appreciate all the informative content you've posted over the years. It's helped me to restore my LS and hopefully enjoy it all the way to 600k!
I like your attitude and attention to detail. A lot of mechanics don't care if a bolt or nut is missing. Hell, I've seen some idiots remove the belly pan and not bother to put it back. That's why I prefer to DIY whenever I can.
Owned a Toyota or Lexus since 1984. Love this channel. I have a 2018 LC200 that I want to drive as long as I can and a LC500-C that I just got. I would recommend replacing head light assemblies as part of the detail. Bringing back with compounding never lasts. It will make the car look new.
Those half Moons serve a very important purpose. They provide clearance for a honing machine to hone the bearing surfaces for the camshaft during head manufacture.
I really enjoy watching certain other automotive repair channels with each of their quirks. The way they can entertain us by poking fun at their own level of professionalism all the while doing as good of a job as anyone's ever done. We'll call that junk food for now and I love it. But as the Ytb algo dropped me here like a rock I got reminded that not only is it necessary to BE on your A game, (I just did that, sorry.) but to also be passionate enough about the trade to be the reference for how things are supposed to be done. When you're this good you don't need to entertain us to keep us tuned in. Watching the way you handle parts or the cars they're going in with the perfectly proper care is both eye opening and refreshing. We'll call that real food. Thank you for being here. We need you both. Subbed and full notie'd.
Superb presentation, as a 2uz-fe owner I find this content incredibly useful. I love it and your attention to detail is top class. Thank you very much.
I though you said that you "weren't gonna go crazy" cleaning that valve cover"... HAH!! I knew you couldn't help yourself, it looks beautiful. I would like to do this on my 09 camry 2.4L, even though it does not leak, but am guessing there is no gasket, just sealer. It will turn over 200K next week, gonna replace the radiator myself, looking a little crusty at the bottom. My stomach was in knots when you peaked inside with the bore scope, glad everything was "OK".
Was that car meet by invitation only?? I just can't imagine them letting just anyone take that Rolls out for a drive on their own...Or, was the salesmen sitting in the back seat?
You and Scotty Kilmer are Global treasures ! Thank You for all your indepth advice and knowledge. Its why my 2000 Toyota Avalon is still running like a dream!
Ahmad your show is like a drug. Always waiting like an addict for the next instalment to come. Great content and god bless you for sharing your life with us.
I learn a lot from watching these videos. It was good that you had the trip to see the new cars and get to drive some. As you would say, "Life is good'. Your level of patience is an example to us all.
As a long-time Toyota owner its really good to see someone work on a car they same I would work on my own, genuine parts and attention to detail. Good work and may god bless you as well.
The half-moon seals exist because the head is line-bored with the cam journals fitted so that they are a precise match for the camshafts. The seals block off where the tool has to go. They are on pretty much all overhead cam engines. Keep up the good work. Enjoying the LS rejuvenation but would be interested on how much you have spent on parts so far. 🙂
last weekend i spent it replacing my timing belt/water pump, and handling other maintenance jobs on my 05 ls430 with 200k miles. i used your timing belt video for reference and without it, and it being my first time doing it, i couldnt have done it without your video. it runs beautifully, thank you mate
Whoever worked on that engine and did the valve knew what they were doing and they manage to keep the car running despite it all and keep it cheap. The car was running no problem. And that mecanic worked on a lot of lexus or machine like that .
Amd, I’m right there with you! I am doing the exact same thing with my son’s 150K mile 05’ Lexus ES 330 by completely replacing all of the rubber parts (hoses, grommets, gaskets, etc.) suspension, brakes, and smaller parts both inside and out with OEM Lexus parts. The car runs like new, burns nothing and everything works. Thanks for sharing this project and your skills as I have watched you since you started in your garage and have learned many good habits on how to work on my Toyota and Lexus cars. Please keep up the great work! Thank you!
I love this series. I have an 01 LS 4439 w/ 164k miles. The car came from Connecticut and the clear coat is peeling and paint is rough but it is very mechanically sound. You showing how and why to do repairs and maintenance really helps me.
I am a 76 year old Toyota lover. I know almost zero about cars but I love your channel. I can’t wait to see how much you 600,000 mile car ends up costing you and what the retail would have been.
Awesome video! I am really enjoying your LS 400 600,000 video series. I am not a mechanic but I have had 3 great Lexus vehicles; an LS 400, a GS 300 and I currently have a 2018 RX 350. I'm in Texas. I really enjoy owning and taking care of my cars. You have an awesome commitment to details and excellence and I learn a lot from you. Awesome job sir. Excited for the next video!
Nice! I grew up near and was born in Manitowoc, WI! Anyways nice to see my home state it's a great place/area to grow up and live. I live in AZ for work now but miss the friendliness of the people in WI and always go back to visit family there. Keep up the great work!
This project brings joy to everyone! Can't wait to see that interior cleaned up. No idea how you guys managed to get in that car and drive it for so long without hazmat suits :))
Outstanding. I also enjoy large RWD sedans and also drive an LS430. I have driven 07 + LS460's and there are clearly advantages to the LS430 quality wise in my opinion. Toyota is a great company but something happened around '07 and beyond with many major car manufacturers, where the quality of many vehicles seemed to shift over to "value added engineering". I had been looking at newer LS460's but I simply cannot find fault with my LS430 enough to want to replace it. So I have been keeping it up in the same fashion as yourself. I did the VC gaskets a while back as they were leaking in the same way. It came from Florida so it was rust free when I bought it about 6 years ago. There was actually a pristine seashell sitting wedged in the undercarriage that I retrieved when I was working underneath it, and the shell now sits on my desk. Thank you for your excellent content.
At 6:23 into the video, when you said that's fixed every leak this car has and "Let's get started." I said let's get ready to rumble after the drive in the Rolls.
Yup, this project has been fantastic so far. The attention to detail in EVERYTHING is inspiring…..everything in it’s place and a place for everything. As always, well done and thanks.
I recently found this channel and it's one of the best ive found. Since I bought my first car it has always been a toyota. I've got a 2008 Sienna Limited XLE FWD with 189,000 miles. The biggest problems I've had with it are the radio and the vacuum lines. Other than that I just keep up with frequent oil changes and she's treated us good for 15 yrs. Would love to keep her until 600,000 😂. Thank for all you do and I look forward to the future videos as I'm learning a boatload. May God Bless and keep you and your family well. Our next car will be a lexus as I'm getting ready to retire from the military and deserve some luxury and comfort. 😊
Just did the valve covers and tube seals on mine. Those blue seals are “aftermarket” from what’d I’d imagine to be a local parts store. They are OEM spec but not OEM. They work fine (had mine on for 10k miles) when installed correctly. These do indeed look like they were installed upside down lol. Which makes sense why they came out so easy. My tabs were also cut on my valve cover but the seals had to be pressed in and stayed snug. Just a little insight someone who has used the “beautiful blue” seals haha. They work fine.
Disclaimer. Several companies use that blue. The ones I got specifically from oriellys worked perfectly fine. They happened to be blue but may not have been the same as what you show in this video.
Watching how you repair this vehicle and your thinking process helps me to apply these same skills and strategies to repairing my 2008 Sienna with 231,000 ongoing miles on it. Thank You!
As a Lexus and Toyota owner this is one of the most informative and well produced car channels on all of UA-cam. You truly deserve all of the success that comes to you. Thank you for all that you do for the community. I would be honored for you to work on my Lexus someday.
May the Lord bless you and keep you AMD.
I think you speak for most of us or at least for me.
Awesome channel not much else to say.
Agree, I will admit I don't have experience in auto repair but truly enjoy hearing a respectful and great mind showing true repair work.
I agree completely
😂 welcomed by Wisconsin’s finest! Loved the mechanics being worried about breaking down. 😁
I’m a current technician for Toyota of orland park and I can say this channel has helped me learn a lot about Toyotas and Lexus vehicles. Appreciate your videos keep it up

The Bob Ross Mechanic! Solid content! Very informative!

The control arm is fast moving part on LS460 just like brake pads on normal car. Laughable quality which marks a downhill for Lexus.

i come home everyday , and sad face no new update
There is no god.
I learn a lot from watching these videos. It was good that you had the trip to see the new cars and get to drive some. As you would say, "Life is good'. Your level of patience is an example to us all.
i love these ls430 segments i picked one up and i been learning so much.
I was going to reply with the same comment about line-boring. This was way before cnc machining would be a thought in mass production. ✌️
I love your most useful tool…screwdriver
Great series...this inspired me to finish a old 2004 jet ski i have....trying to get back to factory shape, within in reason.
Outstanding! Keep up with "the relentless pursuit of perfection".
last weekend i spent it replacing my timing belt/water pump, and handling other maintenance jobs on my 05 ls430 with 200k miles. i used your timing belt video for reference and without it, and it being my first time doing it, i couldnt have done it without your video. it runs beautifully, thank you mate
Thank you for doing this! This is a great series!
Whoever worked on that engine and did the valve knew what they were doing and they manage to keep the car running despite it all and keep it cheap. The car was running no problem. And that mecanic worked on a lot of lexus or machine like that .
The best Toyota and Lexus mechanic and UA-camr around , thanks ,I enjoy this channel a lot ,shokran
LS 430
It’s a LS 430
@@rescuesquad-bj6dg The orininal LS was the LS400. Maybe that's the one he has. The 430 came later.
Love the camera work, explanations, and your enthusiasm for this special car. Thanks.
You have joy working on your LS, we have joy watching you have joy! Great informative video as usual! Can't wait for that transmission!
اشتركت في القناة بسبب هاذا السلسلة عملك احترافي ومتقن 👍🏻
Great video. Original owner of a 2006 Solara, 3.3L. 92K miles TEXAS car. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
This channel is addicting!
Someday… I’ll have to go to REHAB !!!
I need to bring my Camry to CCN for "rehab"!
I am also a fan of seeing thing put back to original specs. looking forward to the next episode. God bless!
A fan from Cambodia
I had no clue you were in IL! Hope you enjoyed your time in WI. I'm about 30 miles south of Milwaukee.
Love the pure realism of these videos!
I can't believe that there is still cross hatches in the cylinder bore,,, AT 600,000 MILES, that is extremely impressive
It’s not impressive at all for a Toyota product that is designed to last a million miles.
It's a TOYOTA 👍👍👍
Or around a million km.
@@dadgarage7966 600000 miles = 1000000 km almost
@@diggerdig833This car actually has about 630,000 miles so about 1,008,000 km.
I love my 05 LS 430 black on black. And I love it even more because we have these informational videos. So amazing! Thank you!!
I really like how precise you are and the way you completely explain things
“There should never be sealer here but thats Okayyyyy” TCCN cracks me up. 😂
This project is going better and better with every new video. It put smile on my face very often. Thank you.
It just amazes me every single time how much similarity I have with Mr. AMD. Almost in every aspect. Even down to the choice of gas station and pump.
I believe the half moon seals are there to allow the machining of the camshaft journals?
Keep up the good work 👍
*Spot-on.*
I love this car along with the original LS400. Makes me want to keep driving my 91 LS400 with over 360,000 miles.
Watching how you repair this vehicle and your thinking process helps me to apply these same skills and strategies to repairing my 2008 Sienna with 231,000 ongoing miles on it. Thank You!
"this cover does nothing but helps me sleep better at night"
