- CURA FILES - HOW TO MAXIMIZE YOUR 3D PRINTERS FULL BED VOLUME.
This is video is a tutorial on you can maximize your 3d printers full bed size. For 3d printers like Ender 3 the cura profile removes part of the bed in order to accomodate the clips. Remember to change these profile settings with caution because the nozzle or sensors like the bltouch may hit the bed or clips and break them. This video will also show that the cura software does not allow a full bed volume build. There is a 1mm border around the build plate. "Safe Zone" This tutorial will show you how to get around this and print an a full scale . This applies to any printer using cura.

my left ear enjoyed this video
😂😂
This is such a fundamental issue if a person wants to use the entire surface of the bed. I don't understand why it gets so little attention or why the constructs of setup are so complicated. Thanks for your video. It helped me work through the issue.
Part of it is to prevent printer damage by going out of bounds. Takes time to learn to 3d print. Wish it was effortless..
In the newest version 4.11.0, it allows you to change the bed size. I wouldn't have found it without watching your video first, so thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. I change it to 225 for the x and y axis and left the z axis at 250 and hit close. Now my print appears to fit just fine. I'm doing a print on an Ender 3 Pro FYI.
My print was short by just a millimeter or two from front to back. If somone tries this, be aware that the print head may or may not go side to side without hitting. I'm not sure what the maximum safe distant is for side to side, but it appears front to back will be okay. I'll test it and if it doesn't work, I will edit this right away to prevent any damage to someones print head.
Thanks again James!
Btw, I'm only getting sound out of the left side when I watch your video with my headphones on. Just letting you know in case you were not aware.
Ok thank you.
Did you have to do anything else after changing besides change the printer bed size?
you're awesum dude! Thanks. Straight to the point and nice music at the end. Luved it
Thanks buddy, ressources modification was all I needed !
Cheers from Belgium
You're welcome.. Cheers !!
Gracias, no podía imprimir hasta que desactivé la skirt!
Thanx - great solution to a problem, I might encounter.
You're welcome!
gracias por esta info, la estaba buscando bastante!
de nada
I need a reply doc on Cara says that my 3D printing object is able to 3D print on my back because it fits there's even videos of preparation what I want and it shows you how it's being 3D printed but everytime I put it on my 3D printer it's giving me 3/4 of a circle which is it makes the circle until it gets to a point on a 3D printing that it cuts way have through making the circle into a c with a line how do I take that off
I cant find resource in new Cura. It is a costum machine. Need a bed size of 1.3 meters square. PLZ HELP
Hello, great info, but where is the resource folder in the newest version of Cura?
I found it C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 5.2.1\share\cura
esources\definitions
Thanks bro, appriciate it@@Jm2lotr
I don't know if you noticed this but the audio of your videos is always way louder in the left ear than the right
Noted... Thanks for the heads up... will look into it..
Yes my prints start 4mm to the left of center and 3mm nearer to the front of the plate. If I change the probe offset to compensate it is even worse. I am using sensorless homing.
This is because you're not understanding the relationships of the bed, mount, and printer head. It has nothing to do with sensors. The end stops are zero points. Learn the relationships. Thanks
i tried doing this and when i goto save the file it wont let me save it and says "you do not have permission to open this file. see the owner of the file or an administrator to obtain permission" how else am i able to get past the clip issue. im already runnning a mag bed.
so i downloaded notepad++ and was able to change the settings. but it reset the whole cura and then i needed to re-setup cura. so i did that and then i couldn't choose the ender 3 v2 anymore only the ender 3 pro. so i set that one up and it then said the file was currupt and needed to be reset to factory settings and so i did that and its back to normal with the grayed out areas
I’m trying to print a bat helmet out of my ender 3 pro and I tried going to the printer settings and I stretched it out to 225x225y on the buildplate instead of the initial size of 220x220y that was already set up . By any chance can that work?
It may work. Depends how well your printer is calibrated. This video will give you an explanation of how the bed size is set up. ua-cam.com/video/3J9NhwbziEY/v-deo.html
@@DiyProJames Thank you for this link , it’s cause my goal is to try and fit the whole helmet as snug as I can on the buildplate without the nozzle hitting the sides of the beams or having to slice the helmet in half & doing the extra work in the end sanding the seam line . Again thank you lots 👍
I tried it but it didn't work because it keeps giving me the notification that it needs to be done by the administrator. sooo... I don't get it.
BUUUTT I changed my printer settings. The ''width and depth'' to be exact. With the Ender pro3 it's set to 220mm. So I measured my bed and set those values in the settings. I changed it to 250mm. It works!
Great! Yes it seems windows operating system wants you to be an administrator before changing any little thing these days...
Would it have been so difficult to describe the process as your doing it !!!
It RESET my entire cura settings, thank you
Glad I could help
ANYONE WHO IS STILL HAVING ISSUES
GO TO SKIRT SETTINGS AND CHANGE IT TO NONE
Tks A LOT.
Why does your hot end fan go on and off while printing?
There are two fans. One for the cold part of the hotend which prevents the cold part of the hotend from getting too hot. There is a melt zone for the plastic (hot zone). If this wasn't regulated the heat would travel to the cold zone melting the plastic and bowden tube. It keeps the hotend at a set temperature. The second fan is the nozzle fan or fan that cools the plastic when the plastic comes out of the nozzle. This fan speed you regulate depending on what type of details you have on your model. This will change the physical attributes of the plastic oozing out. Check out my video ua-cam.com/video/ykJb4ZW64Uc/v-deo.html
You will be able to see small differences in the temperature tower.

NOTE: This no longer works!
Ok thank you.
@@DiyProJames unless I'm doing something wrong, the disallow area isn't even present anymore.
