I love how this girl’s range is nuts, but she never looks like she’s straining her vocal chords or anything like that. It’s just completely effortless for her.
Screams don't actually involve using your actual vocal chords (well, at least if you're doing it right lol). The power of the scream comes from pushing air from your diaphragm and if you're doing the vocal fry type of screaming (which is what sounds like she does for her mids and highs) you're pushing the air up into the soft pallet in the back of your mouth almost making it nasally, and then adding grit using your head voice and combining that with the air you're pushing upwards. That's the basic premise of A scream, from then on if you just work on mouth shape, breath control and managing power you can do it almost effortlessly someday. You didn't ask to hear the explanation but I too am a vocalist and love talking about this stuff lol.
With screaming your never suppose to use your actual vocal folds (I think its called folds now) if its hurts then your using your folds which will result in injury and possible wrecking your voice. Suppose to come from your chest with the use of your diaphram to store and push air out.
