Unicron (2012) - Broken Vessels (the GeekFurious no core version): Courtney LaPlante pre Spiritbox

Just made this to see if it was possible to maintain the flow of the song without the very cool metalcore middle. It kind of felt like maybe it was written without it... so I tried it. NO DISRESPECT INTENDED. I love the original. Please don't sue me... Spiritbox is my life! Come on! Courtney LaPlante is a god!

I always thought the harsh middle part of the song went on too long and took away from how beautiful the rest of the song is. Im very surprised to find this vid because i imagined this before 😅. Well done

Thanks. Mind you, I respect what the original was going for and how the lyrics fit the shift. But I also think it works more as a concept. Whereas a song like Spiritbox's Blessed Be executes a similar concept way better, making the shift feel organic to the whole song. In the original Broken Vessels, the shift feels like it exists outside of the flow of the songwriting. But I would have done something like this when I was writing in my 20s, so I get it.

I don't think it works, because the cut has this broken record feeling, it make it too obvious. But had the song been written with this structure from the start sure, it would do. I deeply LOVE the original, but I can understand how some people would be turned off by the breakdown and the harsh voice, hence missing out this masterpiece their would otherwise enjoy.
