Thank you sir I wanted to keep it as original as I could I'm glad you like it .it was a dream for me to rebuild it and a dream to drive and have as my main truck to pull lowboy . Thanks
It has been a dream of mind For a long time to rebuild A 351 Pete and to drive a truck like it's compared to the new trucks it nite and day love having it in my fleet to pull lowboy it will live on even when I'm gone but those plastic truck made today will be in some ones junk yard in 5 years it's a Shame they just don't take pride in any thing anymore. Thanks for your comment sir .
It was 20 straight days of work hot non stop work to complete the truck hoses tires brakes paint body work and 2 days of polishing but its the most original truck I own and it never fails to get the job done the most its ever pulled was a 988B less the bucket truck and trailer weight 37000lb 988 cat loader 114000lb .. its got 4.11 gears 13speed and a juiced up 335 with a turbo off a qsx15 cummins that was in a Gen set 750 hp the injectors have been reflowed its some where around 500hp .first truck I never drove was a 83 pete 359 .....
Its a beauty, how many miles on her now after 65 yrs on the road? Get that cracked steering wheel redone before pieces of it start falling off into your hands. There are companies out there that will repair/restore it to like new.
The truck came out of Bakersfield California clothes around the California area live most of this life in California till the late 60's early 70's went to Washington and pull logs the truck stayed around Washington state most of its life then was sent to core d'Alene Idaho I bought the truck and had it shipped South Carolina and began the restoring process but didn't have to do a lot to it it was already original it never fails to crank and I've pulled some pretty ridiculous stuff with it as much as a hundred and fifty thousand pounds but I'm trying to keep it as original as possible and still use it for work everyday a truck just isn't any good if you have to drive it to a truck show once a year if I buy something it has to work thanks for your comment sir
Thank you sir !!!!Yes sir I put a 42 Mt starter on the which is a gear reduction starter and now it spins to slow for the compression release to work properly so the stock starter will be back on there soon !!!!
So enjoy the old rigs, had my autocar, but the Pete is so beautiful makes me want to climb in. Farmer buddy of mine just got two new Pete's,but not the same class
