My wife and I lived in Casper WYOMING 40 some years ago and I remember those cold starts well I worked as a mechanic on trucks and equipment my whole life. I am retired now I am getting close to 75 years young. I really like those w900a,s I owned and operated a 1971 w900 with an ntc 350 Cummins it had the wide hood.
Nice!! That's cool! I shared your comment with Stuart, the guy in the video. Sounds like your '71 was a nice rig. We appreciate you tuning in and commenting!!
I was a mechanic when Cummins switched to the big cam We all complained on training day about them getting rid of the compression releases that were on the small cam 855
@@Charles-qt2gx like me you have seen a lot of changes in Cummins ENGINES and now those 855s are becoming dinasours it's a shame because they were great reliable engine's even the N14s.
Thanks a bunch! I definitely plan on filming it as much as possible. More coming soon hopefully. And thanks, that angle is nice, but I meant to get the stacks in the frame. Zero smoke came out, so nothing was missed, haha. Thank you for tuning in!!
I'll see what I can do! Might take a moment, as the truck is stored elsewhere and not being used much. I posted another video of it with more footage under the hood, but I'm guessing it doesn't show the mounts..? Here's a link. Thanks for watching!!! ua-cam.com/video/dQn7LjnztfM/v-deo.html
Interesting how some engines struggle more than others in the cold.. This one definitely seems cold-blooded! Thanks so much for tuning in! Hoping to film this truck more soon
It just had an in-frame 4 months ago, so hopefully it's making full power these days!! Thanks a bunch for watching! I'm uploading a longer vid of this truck right now..
Lol plug up injectors? 😅 what are you even talking about? First off you spray ether in the intake meaning it enters via intake valve. Only thing that goes through injector is what's in the fuel tank. Secondly ether is an extreme solvent its not going to plug up anything. If anything it would clean it out. I literally don't even know why people like you comment with such remarks when you clearly have zero idea what you're even talking about
I can see you don't even own one of these big trucks. If it's been sitting and you're going to roll start it, you'll need to either bring an air compressor and air up the tanks or cage the chambers. Both not smart ideas. Plugging it in is the only smart option
Would love to see more cold starts especially with camera inside the cab. How long does it take to start on really cold mornings when it hasn't been used for several days?
Prior to this, I think it was sitting for a few days, but not sure. We'll definitely film it again, and I'll try to film inside the cab and get Stu's comments. Thanks so much for watching!! New video of this truck uploading right now..
Oh yeah! We unleashed this beast on some mountains recently, and I just posted the video yesterday on this channel. You should check it out!! Thanks a bunch for watching!!
When the rings pistons blow . Youll learn wiyh those engines , if you pat the pedal 3or 4 times and hold the pedal hapf way down , it will crank on its own , may take a couple times . You using way too much ether , just a quick squirt or two. And i dont even wsnt to talk about you revving a cold motor with cold oil ( meaning its not up into the block yet ) thats thats why you NEVER rev a cold engine , .you let it idle until the oil Guage moves , then only bump it to a 1,000 rpm until the water temp guage moves ........ if you dont want to blow your motor , other wise ;,rev on , ya killin me smalls
Stu says that it's been easy to get parts for!! Luckily! Thanks a bunch for watching and commenting!! We made a new video of this truck Jake braking a couple months ago...

If there is one thing I've learned by watching truck videos, its that no one works on them when it is warm and sunny.
Haha! That's true. Thanks a bunch for watching and commenting! Hoping to film this truck more asap!
We need some footage of that ride jaking down those Utah mountains
Yes! That'll be happening soon, for sure. Thanks a bunch for watching! I'm uploading a longer vid of this truck right now..
That truck is as old as I am....I ll be damn love how those smoke poles are blowing little smoke ring kisses
Pretty darn amazing, right? I was very happy to film such a spectacle. Thank you for watching!!
Shes mad you woke her up 😊😊
Yes indeed! Time to get smokin'!! Thanks a bunch for watching!!!
Sounds sooo good when she starts 👌😛
Yes she does! The jaking is insane.. Thanks a bunch for watching! I'm uploading a longer vid of this truck right now..
That’s a real truck 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yeahh!! Darn right. Thanks for watching!!!
My Big Cam was the same way. Gotta keep it plugged in and fuel doped up.
Yep, super cold-blooded. Generator coming soon. And hopefully more vids of this truck! Thanks for watching!!
Heck yes!!!!!!!!! I have an 84 flc daycab and sometimes she does that too I love it!!!!!
Keep her runnin bud she pretty pretty!!!
Niceeee. Yeah they put on quite a show!! Will do, and thanks!! Stu has put lots of work into this truck and its doing well! Thanks for tuning in!!
Once she has her coffee, she'll be alright
Thanks for not jumping in n reving it up like some other assholes I have watched on cold starts...nice job n nice truck..!!
You bet! Thanks a bunch! We appreciate you tuning in, and hope to film an update with this truck soon!
You can tell he cares about it , wrapped the steering column in a towel so your knees don’t rub the paint off 😂
Oh yeah, custom! It's a great truck. Thanks a bunch for tuning in!!

Yes, indeed! My newest video features a brief update on this truck, and more coming soon! Thanks for watching!!
Hold the can of either out the window with your left hand a give her a squirt or two to keep it from dying once it fires.
We'll give that a try, thanks!! Thanks for watching!
Sounds amazing love all the cranking! Love to see more vids like this :) angle at 0:43 is perfect too

@@samlovescars34 the angle is more for seeing into the cab and what the person is doing though ☺️ this one worked well! Keep it up ☺️

Coming soon? ☺️☺️
Love the cranking!
Thanks so much for tuning in! We'll have more cold starts, etc. coming soon!
Beautiful W9 but stay off of the Jakes until she's at operating temp or you can have issues down the line
Thanks for the tip!! And thanks for watching!!
My Big Cam 400 starts right up in cold weather no either or anything!!! She works everyday though
Nice! Yeah this one was sitting for a few.. Thank for watching!!
Is it a big Cam 4?
But man, that is one mean cold start!!!
It acts like it has nta-400 pistons ( 13.8 compression) .either & just enough throttle to idle till engine warms up. Sometimes less fuel is better.
Yep, Stu says he doesn't rev it anymore. Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!!
Any chance you could email picture of the motor mounts on there? I have a 85 im swapping a blown cat out to a big cam

@@samlovescars34 referring to the way it ran and smoked once warm, I assumed it may have had the pump played with
@@justinmartin8887 Ahh, I took that the wrong way, haha. I bet it's turned up.. I'll ask Stu about that for the next one!
For sale?
I wouldn’t give it too much gas while the motor is that cold
Stu says he has since stopped revving it while cold, as it doesn't seem to help it much, haha. Thanks a bunch for tuning in!!
That was way back when trucks looked like trucks...NOT big ant eaters on wheels. 🤔🤨

It never ceases to amaze me how dated American trucks are inside - and the visibility is appalling! Sounds great though!
