Thank you for the review! I got one of these after I heard one on the air. I agree with all your points. One thing worth mentioning, though, is that it has a direct conversion receiver. So I didn't expect it to outperform a superhet radio on receive. And it didn't. However, it did outperform the UV-5R for sure, and probably even the Yaesu FT-65, both of which are direct conversion radios. I wouldn't use it for hunting distant stations, but it's a solid (and handsome) radio for routine comms at short and medium distances. My first conversation was on a repeater about 18 miles away.
It’s a good radio. I have the 1st and 2nd gen models, no complaints.
it very much like the Ratel radio
I like the big buttons on this. Its a great radio.I have the green, and crystal. Just wish they made them water resistant.
Thanks for watching. Yeah there's never the "perfect" radio is there.
Thank you for the video. I’m new on the radio I do have a question. I have the same radio and I think i was transmitting on vfo I have a issue with this setting I don’t I don’t know what to do even if I’m reading the The manual so please if you can tell me about the setting only to listen for frequency I will appreciate it appreciate it
@@freddyeandujar7512 bro just means you can tune around within the band either 2 meters or 70cm. Whichever frequency you're on will be able to transmit and receive. It just means it's not in memory mode. In memory mode it's just the frequencies that you have stored within the channel memories. If it's within the transmit and receive range in vfo or memory you'll be able to transmit and receive. You have to learn what does simplex frequencies you want to use and what repeater frequency is you want to use. Probably would be best to look up some programming videos so you can get your radio programed properly. Are you a licensed technician? Maybe reach out to a local ham club that may be able to help.
